When our dryer stopped working today, we had a repairman come out. He determined that we needed the duct from the dryer to the outside of the house to be cleaned immediately, due to a clog of some sort. I found Top Hat on Angie's list today at 12:30pm and called. A very helpful woman answered immediately and said that she would check with the truck, but that she thought they could be here by 3:30pm TODAY! She called me back within 2 minutes and confirmed they would be here by 3:30pm. Sure enough, by 3:15pm they were on site and ready. Each of the workers told me precisely what they were doing. The job was completed within 30 minutes and they were so professional and courteous. They even walked us through what we should be doing every year to check the condition of the dryer and the duct. I was so impressed, I would certainly use them again!

The two people each did their jobs efficiently and well, and they were very friendly. Each one explained what they were doing and why, and what I could do to help keep the chimney and dryer vent clean. I highly recommend Top Hat and will use them again.

Angies did it again! Needing a chimney sweep, I found Top Hat as a recommended chimney sweep in Angies, called, made appointment, they came, they cleaned chimney, they cleaned debris around fireplace, they were professional and on time, and personable. Fantastic experience.

I am not an expert but if what they did cleaned my chimney properly, I can only hope that the job was done as evidenced by other members of Angie's list. In other words, everyone had only good things to say.

Our experience was great. They did quality work. They were professional. Their customer service and attitude was great while they were working in our home. They dude who showed up was really wearing a top hat and I was not prepared for that. It did make me laugh when I opened the door, but he was very professional and very open to answering any of my questions. He left several references so that we could continue and follow up on different, different questions that we had. He had brought in a camera so that he could show us what the inside of our chimney was like and then make the decision on whether we wanted to clean it or not. He provided good information and left some leave behinds for us. The basic construction had left the chimney that way, but there was no problem with it. It was supposed to be that way and we've lived here for 7 years and I'd never used the chimney so I didn't know what the state of it would be. The people who lived here before had never used the chimney either. He told me that he could sweep it if I wanted. It was mainly a consultation for the most part.

Called, received phone quote. They arrived on time, quote was as per phone no hidden charges and gave me their Angie's List discount.

Royal was our tech and he was wonderful. He called because he was running about 20 minutes late and was terribly apologetic. When he arrived, he was friendly and professional. The dropcloth kept all of my carpet and furniture completely clean as he vacuumed the chimney as well as patched the back panel of our fireplace. He was in and out in about 45 minutes, no mess left whatsoever. I highly recommend Top Hat Chimney Sweeps.

. I have a 30 year old house and Top Hat Chimney Sweeps completely cleaned out the entire fireplace and it looked like as if there has never been a fire in it. They cleaned all of the rocks that make up the hearth and stuff. They also did a lot of repair to the top of the chimney that needed to be done. They did it really cheap as I thought it would cost much more. It is a husband and wife team and they were very friendly. They looked like they work these sorts of things together. You did not feel that you are dealing with total strangers. I liked dealing with them. Their work was very good and there was nothing that they could have improved on. They went above and beyond in the way they cleaned everything. They really cleaned areas like outside rocks and the entire inside as well. I called them on Thanksgiving Day when I had a racoon come down the chimney. They managed to come in .I called all the places that one normally would call like the animal control but no one’s open on Thanksgiving. I did not expect to get anybody and I told them that I had to block the whole thing so that the racoon could not get loose in my house and it was scarring me to death. They came out and they got it. I thought it was a squirrel but it turned out to be racoon. Before that a cat fell in. We promptly put a grill at the top and that is not going to happen again. I will use them in the future.

I contacted Top Hat for a second opinion after another company told me that my fireplace was dangerous, that under no circumstances should I use it, and that the chimney needed to be completely relined to the tune of about $2,200. I did not tell Top Hat about this so they would not be biased. Royal was the technician who came out to do the inspection, and he was exactly on time and very polite. He did the inspection and told me that my fireplace and chimney were in very good shape, but that there were a couple of problems. I then showed him the other company's report and explained what they said they found. He then patiently showed me the inside of the fireplace, using a flashlight, where there were problems and where there weren't. He had found that there was a gap behind the lintel (?) that needed to be sealed (the other company did not find this.) He even invited me to come up on the roof so that I could look in the chimney for myself at the flue liner tiles. He showed me that one tile had a hairline crack but that it did not need to be replaced; that the only work outside that needed to be done was the masonry at the very top of the chimney and a proper chimney cap. He explained how the chimney was constructed, why a chimney cap is important, and so on. He even asked about my dryer vent and when I said it had just been completely replaced a couple of months ago, he said it did not need to be cleaned. He even gave me instructions on how to monitor how long my clothes dryer took to dry a load of towels as a rule-of-thumb indicator for knowing when to get the duct cleaned. He then came into the house and cleaned the chimney, leaving my living room cleaner than when he started (seriously!) I am very pleased that I (despite what the first company said) do not have a dangerous fireplace that will cost thousands to repair, and I will definitely have Top Hat do my fireplace/chimney repair work.

It was a great experience. Royal arrived right on time and was very professional and friendly. My dog was barking, but Royal was very friendly to my dog and put him at ease right away. He explained what he was doing as he did it, and he cleaned the vent. He also noticed that the connection to the wall was loose and was sending some of the vented air back into the laundry room. He repaired this problem for no extra charge. He cleaned up everything and left with a smile. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend Top Hat.

Top Hat was on-time, fast, clean and professional. Setting up the service call to clean out my dryer vent was quick and easy and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Top Hat called before arrival as promised. The young man arrived with his chimney sweep top hat and immediately got to work. I told him about the humid, warm smell we have every morning in the laundry room and possible causes. He was careful to pull the dryer away from the wall and found the vent pipe to the roof clean. He went into the attic and took apart the elbow and again found the pipe clean. He carefully resealed the elbow. He went on the roof to check the vent cap and flap. He called his boss to consult on possible causes for the humid smell in the laundry room. Again, he checked the flap and found it clean and working. He did find a hole in the flexible pipe from the dryer to the wall and corrected the problem. He also carefully resealed the flexible pipe to the roof pipe. This morning there was no humid smell in the laundry room. This service was very good as compared to last year when another company claimed that the vent pipe was blocked and showed me a picture on the cell phone of their cleaning which obviously came from another house because of a different color vent box behind the dryer. They also failed to correct the humidity problem in the laundry room. I will never use that company again.

We are completely confounded by the lack of response from this company. Kenneth and Kim provided good old-fashioned customer service to us when they cleaned our single-story home's chimney and dryer vent in March 2011. They provided us with an excellent solution to our current chimney cap problem that we are experiencing and a great cost estimate, which we approved. It has been over 3 weeks since we gave them our approval to move forward on the job and there has been absolutely no response from them - either by email or phone. We have attempted to contact them via email and phone calls weekly since April 24, with no response from them. We would have been understanding if they would have at least returned our call or email to let us know what was going on (i.e. illness, project too difficult, etc.). We are sorely disappointed in the lack of customer service and communication in this manner.

I arranged for a service call via internet web site. We made an appointment. They were a little late in arriving. They called to say they were running late. They took 10 off the bill for being late (nice). They checked out the dryer vent and roof top. They appeared very task oriented. Two workers (owner and wife) one worked on dryer other in attic and roof. Done in no time, everything works afterward, what's not to like?

They were very good, responsive and helpful. The workers were great, and I would recommend them to others. I have had no complications and would rate them highly. I like them a lot and would use them again.

Very friendly and courteous. Arrived on time and immediately started working. Extremely knowledgeable and willing to share information with us not only for the tasks they were performed at hand but also for preventive maintenance in the future. Very conscientious and clean. They even took the time to answer questions from a very curious 4 year-old! :)

They provide a very excellent service. They went out of their way to make sure that I understood all the safety issues. They were extremely clean and neat despite their dirty work. The workers are very courteous and very helpful.

It was a husband and wife team that came to my house to do the work. Their service was very good. I really thought that they were very nice and helpful. I had never had my dryer vent line cleaned before, and I had a long deadline. It took him a long time to do it because he did it thoroughly and completely. They went out of their way to do it. We then talked about the chimney. He explained everything completely. I don?t remember the price, but I did not consider it exorbitant - I felt it was a fair price. I would definitely use them in future.

I made 4 or 5 phone calls to this company because they never returned my calls. I finally did receive 1 message left on my answering machine and was told they will call again. They did not. So I called again and left a message asking them to let me know if they did not want to do the work so that I could look elsewhere. Needless to say, I never heard from them. I am totally surprised at my experience with this company so highly recommended by Angie's list. I have never had this experience with any other company that you recommended.

They arrived on time. They did everything they said they would do, and did not try to up sell anything or get a higher price than we had discussed in the emails. I was very happy with them and plan on calling them in acouple of years when cleaning will be needed again.

They were very friendly. I never had a wood burning fireplace before. They gave me a lot of really good tips about safety, how to light the fire and things like that. They also gave me their cell phone number so that they would be available anytime of the day if I had a problem or a question. I would use their services in the future too.
