The guy that came out was very helpful! I had a ton of questions and he was able to answer them all. Originally scheduled for an inspection and cleaning. He was honest and let us know that it was not in need of cleaning. He showed me how to operate. Also fixed the damper clamp. It was in the wrong place and the flue would not shut properly. I am totally happy with the services from Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. I will use them again in the future and recommend them to people that I know!

What can I say. If there was an A+ grade to give, I would give it to Dan, and Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. Dan did a wonderful job on both interior and exterior work. The chimney and fireplace were squeaky clean when he was done. He was punctual, polite, and meticulous. We will definitely be using Top Hat again in the future.

I have used Top Hat several times over the years and they are an excellent company.Courteous and professional.I talked to Kim to set up the appointment and Royal and Branden did the work. From the first contact with Kim and when Royal and Branden finished the job, I was treated with the utmost courtesy and all of my questions were answered.It is hard to find honesty and trust nowadays with service calls , but one thing about the people who work at Top hat is that you know you are getting those qualities.

Before arrival to the house Top Hat kept in contact with us regarding the appointment time to let us know they would arrive as promised. However on the day of the appointment when they completed the job before us early they called and asked if they could come early. Upon arrival they introduced themselves and explained what they were going to do. They were careful to spread a blanket on the floor so not to make a mess. After they installed the logs and made sure the fireplace worked properly. They then addressed any questions and concerns we had about using the fireplace. Both young men were very nice, patient and courteous. We will use Top Hat should the need arise again.

I did not go for the $99 Angie's List special and opted to go with Top Hat instead. I am very happy with their service. Royal Pore (the owner) showed up 30 minutes early. He was very professional. He had to caulk the storm collar as it was loose. That evening we had the heavy rain but there was no water dripping into the fireplace. So we knew Royal did a good job of sealing the storm collar for us. He also took a picture of the siding and showed us the problem with the way the siding was installed on our chimney stack. Now we have to find someone to fix the siding for us. My brother needs his chimney cleaned also, so I passed him Royal's business card.

They just have the highest ratings on Angie's List. They answered the phone when I called. I called others but they said that their price is based on the first initial investigation of $40 plus the amount after that, they won't give me an estimate over the phone. So I called around and got the number that is more static. The experience with them was good. They are good in billing and take information over the phone, bill it, follow up and have a tenant they contacted with to schedule terms.

My husband was the one who had an interaction so I'm not that particular. I would them again if I have an occasion.

Happy with service. Slightly delayed arrival due to traffic but good communication on that. Good job cleaning everything. Fixed minor problem with fireplace. Gave good advise for future potential issues to watch out for. Really nice young man did the work. Neighbor thought he was cute in his top hat so he let her take his picture. Like this company, will continue to use them for fireplace work.

My dryer is in a closet and faces the washing machine. A really, really small space and tricky to get access to the vent and hose. He was very careful not to scratch either of my machines and managed to unhook and re-hooked the setup when he was finished. He went on the roof and made sure that the vent was cleaned. Had very good equipment and he remotely controlled the vacuum. Very efficient. He was on time and very courteous. I would use the service again.

Top Hat representative arrived on time. Chimney inspection and cleaning quickly and they took the time to answer all my questions regarded potential repairs and fireplaces in general. I would recommend their services!

The serviceman arrived at the time agreed upon and began work promptly. He made it a point to ask me questions about it's previous maintenance and then began his own inspection. My house is 20 years old this year and the chimney had never been serviced so I knew the potential for grim was high. I have a wood burning fireplace. He brought in his vacuum tools and advised me that the service would last approximately 45 minutes. There was glazing occurring in the flu but he managed to get it all cleaned out. While on the roof, he made it a point to take some pictures of the chimney and cap so I could better understand what he had seen. The cap was well placed and did not require maintenance but he did advise me that the top edge of the wooden chimney was losing it's paint job and the wood was starting to rot. He made it a point to clean the work space in front of the fireplace completely before leaving my residence. He was polite and very knowledgeable so that is why I was so pleased with the visit and service.

We have used Top Hat Chimney Sweeps before. We have been very pleased every time. From the minute I called them to the completion of the job, I was treated professionally and everyone connected with Top Hat was courteous. John came out and was right on time and went right to work. When he noticed the crack in our side panel,I was afraid of what this might cost to repair.He used a chimney sealer to fix it. He inspected our fireplace and fixed the damper and the flue(spelling).He answered everyone of my questions and explained everything to me. We will probably need a new cap next year, and John could have easily said it needed to be repaired now, but said it still had a good year in it which will give us time to prepare for next years inspection. I will continue to use Top Hat because, after the repair, they were still very close to the estimate they gave me to come out. Add that on to the professionalism and courtesy and we feel like we cant go wrong using Top Hat.

During one of our infrequent summer rains this July, I noticed a leak around one corner of the vaulted ceiling at the fireplace. I called my roofer and everything was fine with the roof shingles and the flashing around the chimney. My roofer pointed out that the concrete on the chimney crown was severely cracked and had eroded at the corners where it meets the chimney. He said that he didn't do that type of repair, but he could have a metal crown fabricated and attach it to the chimney. I decided to not go that route and started searching for ways to repair the chimney on the internet. I had used Top Hat Chimney Sweeps years ago to clean the chimney, so I called them again for an estimate. About 10 days later, Royal came out to inspect my chimney. He pointed out all the issues with the chimney and explained my options, including fabricating a metal crown. The crown did not have to be replaced and could be repaired, so that was the best option as it maintained the original look. Royal scheduled a date for a week later to do the repair. Royal showed up right on time and repaired the chimney crown, tuckpointed the mortar that had deteriorated on the bricks, and sealed the chimney. When Royal was finished, he invited me up on the roof to inspect his work. Everything looked great, and the area was clean. Just recently, we had 3" of rain over a day and a half, and there was no leak. Royal was very professional in dealings with me, and his work was impeccable. I would recommend Top Hat Chimney Sweeps for any chimney repairs or service. They know their business.

Very professional - easy to make appointment and they showed up on time. Again, very honest folks. We worked on two houses and the rep told me that one of them did not need the lint cleaning as it was a different kind of a dryer hookup - I would not have known. I trust them and their work and would definitely use them again.

erFirst of all, this review is difficult for me to write because I rarely write bad reviews, but I was so upset by the way I was treated with this company that I wanted to put the warning out in case someone else is going to be calling them for this same service. I called the company and was initially impressed by the lady, Kim, who answered the phone. I told her that I wanted a chimney insert replaced in a home I was remodeling, I sent her a picture & she called back shortly to let me know that someone was going out to take measurements that day (Friday). I was so glad they were able to make it out there so quickly & she assured me that she would get back with me Monday or Tuesday with an estimate based on some photos I had emailed her with ideas of what I wanted & that they would get it all installed by our deadline, which was 2 weeks away. I checked in on Monday & she told me it would be Tuesday/Wednesday. I checked in Thursday & even told her I could order the insert I found online if she wasn't able to get one in time because I really wanted to get something ordered so we could make our install date. She finally emailed me back at 5:30 & told me they could no longer help me, they couldn't install the one I had emailed them & they couldn't get to me until next month (past our deadline) & she gave me two other companies to call (both of which were closed by 5:30 & both of which I left voice-mails & never heard back from). By dragging this on for days & promising me a quote and an install date that would be on time with my schedule, it basically meant I was out of luck now for finding another company that could have it installed by the time I needed it! I was so mad! I wrote back the following response & no further communication has been made since. "Kim,I don't understand why you told me you'd have it in by our move in date & now I've been waiting almost a week for a quote and you back out?? I'm confused. This wasn't right of you. I could have found an alternative by now but now I'm probably not going to get it in time. Not cool."

I hired Top Hat a few years ago to do a general inspection and some minor repair work to my chimney which they did promptly and well. That's enough reason to hire them right there, however my primary reason for this review is to commend them on their incredible customer service. We are selling our house and I needed the receipt and description from work performed almost 5 years ago. I called Top Hat and had a pleasant conversation w/ Kim who said she would see what she could do. Well a mere 3 hours later I get a phone call and the receipt emailed to me. Not only are they obviously a well organized shop, but Kim was also incredibly pleasant to deal with and tolerated my poor record keeping and demanding request w/ kindness and humor. Can't recommend them enough.

The inspection went smoothly with a courtesy call before arrival and a thorough review of the chimney and fire box. The work on the crown replacement went smoothly and it looks really good. The job was done within a week and the actual work took about an hour or less. The crown was replaced with a crown that was sloped so that water would no longer stand and be conductive to rusting. We hired Top Hat about 10 years before for a cracked firebox repair and they always do a great job. Very stable company.

I used this company for chimney sweep services. They came on time and all went fine, I have no complaints at all. The gave me information about certain things to watch out for on the roof and I was appreciative for the extra opinions involved. They did a great job.

Very professional and friendly, from the first contact on the phone to the completion of service. Very clean, explained everything, and eager to make sure we are happy. We weren't getting much heat from the fireplace, so we had them install a radiant panel at the back of the fireplace (the cost of which is included in total).

They provided great service, on time and very clean with a messy job. What I really liked is there was one bit of miscommunication on both our parts about one piece of the work and Royal was really great at working with me to find a solution we were both happy with. They provided great customer service.

The company went out of its normal service area to do our job. We contacted them in early December 2012 to request an estimate. The company stays pretty busy so we had to wait until after Christmas to get scheduled, but that was expected. Overall, we were pleased with the work they performed (a flue liner installation) and would use them again for fireplace/chimney issues in the future.
