Description of Work: Cleaned chimney. Very professional, cleaning up afterwards, went on roof, removed cap, and used brush to clean the chimney, blocking fireplace opening to prevent soot and grime from coming in house. Also, cleaned soot on front of fireplace.

Description of Work: Inspected and cleaned Chimney. Gave assessment of structure and recommended I get a mason to repoint, gave price for placing crown on chimney. Used mason to replace crown, felt that stone crown was better than galvanized sheet metal. Had storm morning of appointment, Top Hat called to inform that he would be a little late but would be here to perform work, he did arrive a little late but was completely acceptable because of weather issues.

Description of Work: We are delighted with the service that we received from everyone at Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. The appointment scheduling was easy. I knew what to expect in terms of time required, cost, and noise from the vacuum before they came out to do the work. On the day of our appointment, the owner called me to say he was in the area but might be a few minutes late. He arrived no more than 5 minutes after the appointment time so it was no inconvenience at all. |I am extremely thankful that I scheduled the service. When I saw how much lint was trapped in the dryer vent on the roof, I was appalled that the builder was allowed to use the wrong type of vent cap. |The fireplace cleaning was also long overdue. Mr. Pore explained how flues become coated with soot and under what conditions this can potentially cause fires. We were fortunate not to have tried to go another year before having this service done. There was a pile of soot about 8 inches high when all was said and done. He also gave me advice on how to have the gas starter pipe replaced (by a licensed plumber)since it has corroded to about 2/3 of its original length. |The interruption during the work was minimal. There was some vacuum noise but not enough to interfere with my home based business. The clean up was perfect. Things looked better than they did before Top Hat walked in the door. |Great price, friendly, efficient service from a local family business. |I'm planning to post pictures on my Facebook page so that my friends and neighbors can appreciate seeing a top hat wearing chimney sweep on top of our roof. Charming.

Description of Work: I had used this company several times in the past before this last time, and had been most pleased. I will NOT be using them again, and its all because of customer service. My 2 indoor chimneys had been previously cleaned by owners Kim and Kenneth. They did excellent work and were always top notch in customer service. I had not had my chimneys cleaned in about 3 years when I began calling them in December. I left numerous voice mails, and no one returned my call but I kept trying. When I did reach someone and asked many questions including information on if they could possible replace our tired cracked firebox, she admitted it was her first week on the job and did not know these answers but would suggested I ask when the owners son came out for the service call and so I set my appointment time. Owner's son-in-law (name??) arrived promptly and was professional, doing a nice job. He said he was the new owner and everything would come through him now. I told him of our great interest in replacing one of our fireboxes. He assured me they could do this but said they were too busy to do such now, and for me to wait and contact him further on this in February or later. I was frustrated that he wasn't even willing to provide costs information at that time. I waited until late January and began calling. Again, leaving several voice mails letting them know if they were too busy to install at this time I understood but wanted approximate costs to see if this were something we were even going to be able to do. I then began looking online for another company that would be able to do this new installation, and found that this company was one of very few who actually replace as well as repair chimineys. I continued to call several times, now leaving impatient messages, and was never called back and decided they were obviously not interested in doing this work. |The person who came out was nice and professional, and the cleaning was done to my satisfaction. But I will never call on them again soley because of their lack of customer response.

Description of Work: I was impressed with the honesty of this company. I called to find out if it was for our chimney to be cleaned. The person helping me on the phone was most informative and informed me that I did not need to have it done for a couple more years. My usual feeling is that folks will try to sell you a service whether you need it or not. Kudos. I will delineate use them in the future.

Description of Work: They cleaned the fire box bricks and the chimney . They cleanup up during and after the work. Very professional and explained everything. They also pinned my bricks and they were coming out of place. Fixed my gas pipe in the fireplace.

Description of Work: After I bought my home 5 years ago, I noticed a leak in my fireplace during heavy rains. I called a Capitol Chimney who installed a new crown. The leak did not get fixed and I did not get a return phone call after several messages. I then called Ace Chimney who charged me a fee for an estimate with NO warranty on work. Getting nowhere I decided to look at my neighbors chimneys and realized my chimney cap was sitting on the crown while theirs were up several inches. I removed the cap and found the crown was just cemented up to the cap leaving a funnel into my chimney. I now called Top Hat. Jimmy came out as scheduled and concurred with what I saw. Unfortunately the chimney was designed by a manufacturer no longer in business and the flue size was not standard. Jimmy came out and reconstructed the flue, re-cemented parts of the crown and finished by sealing the crown. Jimmy was very professional, a real pleasure to talk with, and most importantly did a great job!!!

Description of Work: Cleaned my dryer vent and it now no longer takes entire days to get the laundry done. Explained why the mesh screening was contributing to the blocked vent, likely need for more frequent cleanings in the future with it on, and removed it. Looked at my chimney to see if it needed cleaning, which it didn't, but still took the time to take a picture and explain to me the damage he saw on the outside wood siding of the chimney.

Description of Work: I had them primarily to replace the cap on my chimney. It had come off in the weather, they put in back on. They also talked to me about the chimney itself and how to maintain it.
