We called on a Thursday, and Top Hat was able to come to our house on Friday. They called that morning to say they could arrive a little early, and showed up when they said they would. They were pleasant, efficient and did a great job.

Ken was great to work with from start to finish. He scheduled the appointment via email with me, showed up on time and explained everything that he recommended doing before beginning the work. He took time to explain the fireplace mechanisms and provided additional recommendations on where we could find replacement pieces and paint.

Was very professional and did what he said he was going to do. Wore a top hat.

They had very reasonable prices. They communicated well. They came quickly within a day of when I called. They were on time, and were courteous. They cleaned up well, they were neat and did excellent work. He even did a complimentary chimney inspection while he was here, and did not recommend I do a cleaning right away.

Never got a response from the company.

They asked a number of questions before quoting the price like how many stories, cathedral ceiling, etc. They did tell us in advance that a pass through fireplace (where you can see the firebox from more than one room) was more expensive. After doing the inspection, they identified the minor repairs and we agreed on the price before they did the work. For this reason the total price was a little higher than quoted. They came within the time frame they told us and called first as promised. The job was finished within the estimated time frame including the unexpected repair work.

Great! We have been in this home (built in 1985) since June '07, and the inspector scared us, saying that the chimney should not be used until it was cleaned. I chose Top Hat because of the recommendations on Angie's List. Two gentlemen - one with a Top Hat! - arrived right on time. They evaluated the situation, cleaned the chimney and the dryer duct and were gone in about 45 minutes. They were friendly, yet professional and were just great.

Excellent. They, a two man team, arrived within the window of time originally scheduled and performed the work in less than a half hour. I moved into my house not knowing how clean the chimney was so I never used the fireplace. One man inspected and cleaned the chimney which turned out to be relatively clean and safe while the other man cleaned the dryer vent which turned out to be very clogged. I am happy to know now that I can use my dryer safely and my laundry will take less time to dry. They made sure to clean up after themselves and I didn't find any soot near the fireplace. Their rate was reasonable, especially since they came from Pflugerville to South Austin. Hint - they give you a better rate if you combine the two services into the same visit. They even gave me a 5% discount for being an Angie's List member. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would have no reservations about recommending Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. And yes, one man was wearing his top hat!

Very happy with their work. On time. Cleaned up after themselves - absolutely no dirt left behind. Didn't charge extra because I didn't have things ready for them. Appointment was made through a series of email exchanges - they worked us in at a time convenient to us.

Excellent. They did a great job, were very nice and gave us a good overview of the condition of our chimney and fireplace. They worked very hard for over an hour! The chimney sweep even showed up in a top hat. Great! We will definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

I called Ken's number to schedule an appointment for the following day. To my surprise (and delight) Ken was driving from Pflugerville to Round Rock for a later morning appointment and was able to come to my house within 20 minutes to clean my clothes dryer vent. Within 30 minutes of arrival, the job was complete! If you do a lot of laundry, and even if you are diligent about cleaning the dryer's lint filter, you would be amazed at the amount of lint that collects in the exhaust hose and exhaust vent pipe. After a period of several years without routine cleaning, the performance of your clothes dryer diminishes, drying times increase dramatically, your monthly energy bills grow bigger and you run the risk of fire, or mold and mildew growth in the vent pipes, and deterioration/rust of the dryer exhaust fitting. This is the second time in the last 5 years that Top Hat Chimney Sweeps & Dryer Vent Cleaning have performed dryer vent cleaning in my home. I highly recommend their services.

Kenny came out once to inspect our vent and agreed that replacing the inadequate 3" vent made more sense than cleaning it. He quoted us $250 to do the job. They came out one time with the materials, but I pointed out a problem with the route we had chosen. We were going to run the pipe through the water heater closet, but the water heater was leaning over and we wouldn't be able to do the job properly until the water heater was replaced and set upright. We planned to do this ASAP. Kenny readily agreed to come back another day when the plumbers were there and he could put in the pipe after they had removed the old water heater and before they installed the new one. When I lined up the plumber, Kenny readily agreed on the new time and date. As I mention above, he struggled for an extra hour and a half on the water heater (not part of his job at all). He would not accept extra money for this, saying that he had quoted me a price and was going to stick to it!

Top rate chimney cleaning (he even did a great job cleaning up after himself and made some great suggestions for future use. He discovered that the dryer vent was actually disconnected (something the inspector missed) and did not charge me for that inspection. He made a great catch that would have caused us a lot of grief down the road.

It was fabulous. He arrived on time and did a magnificent job. He even checked out the chimney to see if it were needing anything and concluded it did not!

This happened because some birds got into the exhaust fan! Top Hap came and cleaned it out as soon as we got in touch with them. It took about one hour and they did a professional job. We've had no problems since.
