Two years ago my hot water leaked all over. Fortunately my maid was at home and was able to call me immediately, so I was able to get home, shut off the water and mitigate the damage to my home by calling in servpro and drying my hardwoods before anything bad happened. I called my home warranty company, they sent out a plumber (North East Texas Plumbing according to the plumber today) and they replaced my hot water heater. They explained that my hot water heater wasn't up to code and it would cost about $1250 to bring it up to code. I knew it wasn't up to code when I bought the house, so I wasn't that upset. They did a good job, and I have no complaints about that service. They put in a new hot water heater, brought everything up to code, and installed a pan with a sensor that would shut off the water if it ever leaked again, explaining that was required to be up to code. Today, my other hot water heater burst. Remarkably (she's only here one day a week), my maid was here once again and called and once again I was able to get home and prevent any damage. Once again I called my home warranty company, and they said a plumber would call me within 3 hours. 10 Minutes later I get a call from a plumber who says he's on his way. Great so far. North East Texas Plumbing shows up 30 minutes later and he gets to work. He estimates that it will cost about $1000 to bring this one up to code. Once again I expected this and had no problem. They complete the job in about 4 hours and ask to be paid. I open the door to the hot water heater and I notice there is no pan. I ask him, how does this shut off when it leaks. He says it doesn't. I ask why not, he says since I have a slab foundation it doesn't need to in order to meet code. Besides. "It shouldn't leak". He really has the gall to say to this to the guy who has called him twice for hot water heaters that leaked. I suspect this is entirely true, but this means they lied to me last time. I'm actually quite happy paying a little extra to avoid water filling my entire house and ruining 25k worth of hardwood and carpet and furniture. I would have gladly paid the upcharge of $450. I just didn't know they weren't installing a pan with a sensor this time, I was under the impression (because they told me this last time) that it was required to come up to code. At the very least my brilliant plumber should have suggested this pan and sensor to make a little extra money. I throw a small fit, pay the guy and he leaves. His boss calls 5 minutes later asking why I was unhappy, and he goes on to explain to me that their only duty is to bring it up to code. I mention that last time his staff told me a pan and sensor was required to bring it up to code, meaning they lied last time, and charged me for it. He claims it didn't happen. Trust me it did, I wouldn have known to ask for it, I know zero about plumbing and or hot water heaters. Fine, I'm actually pretty happy I have a pan and sensor and I would really like to have one on my other hot water heater. I really wished your plumber would have suggested that, its more money for them and a piece of mind for me. The boss repeats that isn't their job to know what I want. About that time I was frustrated and hung up. Long story short, I won't use these guys again and I have explained to my home warranty company that the next time I call for a plumbing problem, I will only accept their alternate provider. (hint, home warranty companies usually have a second provider) PS Just realized the mental midgets neglected to leave the paperwork to put in the window necessary to have the city inspect it so now I have the pleasure of calling back them back.
Description of Work: My hot water heater started leaking, they came and replaced and brought it up to code.

This is all part of a Home Warranty program through Nations Home Warranty. First call to clear line, the plumber "C" showed up and started demanding to see home inspection report (just moved in). After a heated confrontation, he went back to his truck and sulked/pouted while his assistant/other plumber performed the work. Pipe clogged again two days later, and a different plumber showed up, and did the work quickly and politely. Next day, it clogged again, and the day 2 plumber showed up and quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken line that was snagging paper in the line to the city clean-out. He immediately advised that it was not covered under the home warranty, and that we had to pay $145 per hour to dig to the line and repair it, and to expect 8 hours work. He showed me approximately where the break was located. I called our regular plumber, and he did the work for $450.00 total.
Description of Work: cleared clean-out line

Description of Work: Sent motorized "snake" down the vent pipes on the roof which cleared sewage blockage. Lacked some wrenching equipment to open up grounded access points. Overall good experience. Was only going to charge arrival fee if was not successful.

This was a very poor experience. This company was called for us by our home maintenance/insurance company. When he arrived he was very gruff and complained quite a bit about how many times he'd been called to come out and service our home. I pointed out that we hadn't called him, but that the home warranty company had (we didn't even have his phone number), but he continued to blame us for calling him so many times. He snaked the toilet but scratched the porcelain bowl quite badly, leaving dark marks at the bottom. He proceeded to splash dirty, fecal water over the floor of our bathroom, which is bad enough, but then he LEFT that water standing on the floor when he was done. He also knocked over the plunger we had (which was standing behind the toilet at the time) and into the fecal waste water, and left that laying on the floor when he left, as well. When he was done, he pulled the dripping snake-tool out of the toilet and proceeded to walk it, dripping, from the bathroom, through our carpeted living room and out the front door, all the while dripping this waste water onto our floors and carpet. He did not bother using a plastic bag or anything like that. I had to clean our bathroom completely with clorox and then had to have our carpets steam cleaned to protect my family and pets. Overall I would say that this was the single worst experience I've ever had with any sort of service provider in my home. NOTE: The amount paid was a copay based on our home warranty service.
Description of Work: Clearing a toilet that would not flush and which could not be cleared by plunging.
