When asked how long the job would take, his answer was, "a couple of days". I didn't believe the "couple of days" remark, but I understood it to be "a short while" anyway. To make a long story short, Mike installed the built-in 1 1/2 months later after constant follow-up. When it was installed, I was away on business and my wife was the one at home. When she sent me pictures, it wasn't at all the cabinet that I asked for. It looked like a kitchen cabinet installed on the floor. The cabinet doors were supposed to be inset with old style hinges and latches that I provided, but instead were outside with hidden, newer hinges. Worst part was that the slats were too close together. The doors whistled when closed, so the doors had to be redone. Mike later admitted that he knew they wouldn't work; indicating to me that he was trying to pass it off as a completed product, but knew it wouldn't work. To his credit, a lot of contractors are okay with submitting subpar work. I believe that Mike wanted to make it right, but he encountered a lot of problems (health and otherwise) that probably made him focus on other jobs that paid the bills. The cabinet that was produced looks good; it's just not what I asked for and not functional for it's intended purpose.
Description of Work: Mike was asked to build a built-in cabinet for a 100 year old home. He was shown existing built-ins in the home and asked to replicate it with one exception: The cabinet was going to house the A/C return vent, so the bottom doors needed to have wide slats so that the air could move freely. He was also asked to install shelving and cabinet doors in an existing cabinet.
