Description of Work: Dave and his crew of 2 did a list of about 15 punchout items. Electrical, painting, shelf installation, fence repair, carpentry. All jobs were small in nature, nuisance type items. I was particularly impressed with three of their tasks. They fixed a bathroom light fixture which my husband and I had damaged. I was pretty sure I was going to have to invest in a new one, but they were able to repair the damage. They also were able to secure a chimney cap that a roofer told me could not be secured. And they came up with a way to prevent a family heirloom table from repeatedly breaking. These guys are good at what they do and reasonably priced. They worked from about 9:30 to 3:00 for just $440. And Dave did all the purchasing of supplies (about $60) so I didn't buy the wrong thing. | |I highly recommend you give Dave a call.

Description of Work: Mr Roundtree assured me on the day of my service he would be there early and not schedule any other appointments. This was not the case, he didn't arrive until 1045, with an assistant whom he left there most of the day while he was elsewhere! some damage was done by the assistant and no mention of it to me at all. Would not recommend this handyman.

Description of Work: Dave had his employee do all of the work. Mark worked hard and efficiently. He discovered a leak that had been elusive until now. He did a fair job. He did not fix one of the baseboards as agreed upon. Where the leak was found, he left the baseboard, although cut, for my husband to fix. We bought and painted all baseboards and quarter rounds. They cut and installed the base boards, and repaired some sheet rock. They quoted us $200 before arrival and then charged us almost $400.

Description of Work: Dave and his crew installed one ceiling fan, installed electrical outlets, cable outlets and telephone outlets, dave and the crew failed to clean wood shavings and sheetrock shavings off of our new carpet just installed and left the mess for me to clean after the work was finished. |

Description of Work: They repaired a leak in my bathtub and it was still leaking but I was told it would improve and if it didn't call them back and they would stand by their work. I will let Angie's List subscribers know if they really stand by their work.

Description of Work: Replaced a water damaged baseboard and part of a exterior door frame that had dry rot.

Description of Work: Mr. Roundtree replaced our old, creaky, broken wooden attic stairs with new Aluminium stairs. He picked the replacement stairs up from Home Depot, where I had previously paid for them and had them set aside for contractor pickup. He installed the new stairs and removed the old stairs and trash for disposal. Mr. Roundtree did not himself perform the work, which was initially a big surprise to us. However, one of the two gentlemen who actually did the work were clearly very competent and experienced; furthermore they arrived with all of the extra materials needed to complete the job (for example, various sizes of studs used to adjust the size of the attic opening [after the old stairs had been removed] to the size of the new stairs, which were not EXACTLY the same as the old stairs, as well as the "trim" boards used to frame the stair opening in the ceiling). In addition, there was no language barrier with anyone, which is a problem that we have encountered previously with various, even highly-recommended, "handymen." Mr. Roundtree appears to run his business as a "contractor" who supervises "sub-contractors" -- those who actually do the work for him. While the price was more than we expected (for so little time on the part of the two men who actually performed the work), it was done correctly the first time, however, and we are perfectly satisfied with the result. Mr. Roundtree's [cell] phone communications and web site e-mail/message responsiveness was less than we expected from a provider on Angie's List, but it became clear from speaking with him and the two men that performed the work that he is very busy coordinating the activities of more than one set of subcontractors. He did delay the job from the initial, agreed date to a future date, but that was OK with us since we were in no hurry and it actually did suit our convenience at the time; so we do not consider that a negative. Accordingly, we encourage you to be patient if he does appear to be distracted or does not respond as quickly as you might have come to expect; we feel sure that he and the appropriate crew will show up on time and do the job right once you get a specific date and time set. Finally, I encourage you to call him directly on the phone number he will provide, instead of attempting to use e-mails or the Angie's List web site to communicate, since he may b e relatively unresponsive to follow-up e-mails or web site messages. While you may view that to be a negative, be assured that he does answer his phone and return messages left on voice mail, so this is an issue of personal style (we all have our quirks, right?). Again, we would not hesitate at all to engage him again for "big" handyman jobs around the house that are now too big or too hard for us to complete at our age. Be sure to get the charge settled up front and be prepared to pay well (albeit for a job that we would expect to be well-done).

Description of Work: David and his men replaced rotting wood on the siding of my house and on the garage door. Everything went well. The garage door is now very heavy to pick up because the springs need to be replaced but David is going to come back and do that next.

Description of Work: Attempted to replace a switch for a ceiling fan. His assistant grouted the tub very poorly and made a big mess. Very nice man, lots of stories to tell, but will not call him again, sorry.

Description of Work: The door for my mailbox came completely off. I was concerned because I knew the mailman wouldn't leave my mail in the box if he couldn't close the door because anyone walking by would have access to my mail. I called Dave first thing in the morning with the hopes of getting a new mailbox sometime this week. Dave was already working in the area and said he would stop by to take a look. He advised me to purchase a new mailbox and he would return later to mount it to the post. He returned about two hours later and mounted the new mailbox. I appreciated that he was able to fit me into his schedule and resolve the problem today. I have used his service in the past and I will again. We have already discussed another project, so I'll be calling Dave again soon.
