Dave arrived on time and i showed him the work that needed to be done. At each phase, he explained how it would be done. We negotiated the cost of the work, and when Dennis arrived, both Dave and I walked and talked him through the plan. Dave and Dennis discussed materials and procedures. Then Dave left to pick up workers for another job, and Dennis left to buy materials. Dennis returned in a reasonable time and started work on the front porch, then the kitchen and bathroom thresholds, then the french doors, and finally the ceiling fan lamp. It all took about five hours. We paid Dennis cash for the supplies he bought at Lowes and handed him the payment for the job in a sealed envelope which he was then to deliver to Dave. Dave called the next day (Today) to ask about the work, and we gave a positive report. We expect a receipt from Dave today. Very pleased.
Description of Work: Dave's worker, Dennis, painted our porch light, porch decoration, and outside door trim. He secured the loose quarter round inside the front door, caulked the kitchen and bathroom thresholds, caulked and painted around the french doors to the patio, and repaired a partially disassembled light fixture on a ceiling fan.

Dave did an excellent job. He covered the hole in the siding with tarp that he nailed to new wood. Should protect us from the predicted heavy rains this weekend. We called him this morning (after reading reviews of Handymen on Angie's List) and he came out this afternoon and completed the job in a very neat fashion. The work involved his having to run to Home Depot to purchase the material. Dave is an extremely nice guy and we appreciate his treating this as an emergency. Very reasonably priced, too. We will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Covered hole in wood siding on side of house where wood had rotted and been damaged by animals. Checked area of attic to see if insulation wet. Discussed replacing old front door.

He came out to fix the electrical socket in the bathroom and helped to fix the brickwork on the house and he never did that type of work before. The main worker just sat in the vehicle and did not assist. I was worried because it took the other guy quite awhile to figure it out.

Dave was very enthusiastic about taking on the work I needed done at my house. We scheduled a day/time for him to review the work that needed to be done and he arrived at the agreed upon time. The work was done over a two day time period. This fit very well within my work schedule. His helpers were courteous and very professional. One of the jobs was to hang a heavy shelf over the head of a bed. I wanted to be sure it was going to be sturdy and not fall down. Dave assured me that it would be installed correctly and it was. Dave and his helper also did an outstanding job on the trim work around the windows in the bedroom. I had been living with unsightly windows due to some unfinished drywall around the windows. His helper added the type of trim to the windows that I wanted. It looks like a new room now. Also, the soffits in front of the house had two areas that were rotten. Squirrels got in the attic through one of the holes several years ago. I patched the two areas temporarily to prevent anything from getting back in the attic until I could get it repaired/replaced. Dave and his helper replaced those two area and it looks great.
Description of Work: Replaced soffits in front of house, added trim to three windows, hung shelf in bedroom, replaced latches on two gates, installed bracket for flag pole.

Overall, the project went pretty well. Dave came out to look at the project to give me an estimate. He took measurements, did a calculation in his head regarding his bid and we both agreed upon the price of $650 for the job (the price included his purchasing the doors and any trim he needed to buy, as well as his painting the trim around the closet and painting the new doors). This was a rental property so I needed to make sure the job was done to both mine and the tenant's satisfaction On the day the work was scheduled to be done, we agreed to meet at the property at 11:00. (Being that this is a rental property, I needed to be at the property the whole time the work was being done.) I went to the property around 10:30, about 30 minutes early. Dave called me around 11:00 to let me know that he wouldn't be at the property until around noon because he had to pick up the doors. After waiting at the property until about 12:30, I called asking where he was. He then informed me that he wouldn't be at the property for about another hour. I said fine and sat in my car for what I expected to be another hour. Dave finally showed up around 1:30 and then began the process of measuring the top of the door for a piece of veneer he needed to buy to cover the tracks of the old sliding closet doors. He then left to go buy the veneer that was needed and his helper stayed behind to start the work. The old doors were removed and put in the garage, then the worker began the installation of the new doors. Dave returned with the veneers to cover the old tracks. The veneers were installed and the tracks were covered. Then the new hardware for the sliding doors was put in. The actual door installation went pretty smoothly - unfortunately the doors were a bit too tall for the opening, so they had to be ripped down a little bit on the bottom to fit the opening. Once the doors were ripped and everything fit, it just took time for both closet doors to be installed. Once they were installed and aligned properly, the painting began. The doors were taken off of the closet and brought outside for painting. While Dave's helper started on painting the doors, Dave painted the trim around the closet. Once the trim was finished. Dave came downstairs to help finish the door painting. This took quite some time (a few hours). Once the doors were painted, they were taken back up and re-installed in the closet opening. After the project was finished, I had a talk with Dave about why this project took as long as it did. Dave explained to me three things: first - the travel time for this job was fairly long as he was coming from Sugarland and there was quite a bit of traffic getting to the job site; two - the travel time back and forth between the hardware store and the job site took longer then expected due to his not knowing the area very well and there was significant traffic in the area; three - he had not done very many bi-fold door installations so things went slower than anticipated. I understood everything he was talking about, but in my head I was thinking the following (if you live so far away, why didn't you leave sooner to get here on time; didn't you use something like Google Maps to get around the area better if you weren't familiar with it?; if you weren't that skilled at installing bi-fold doors then I wish you would have told me up front because I knew that they were not as simple as screwing in a new track, installing the doors and that was it). Unfortunately, after the initial installation of the doors, the tenant called me and said that the paint job was incomplete (the inner edges of the doors once each door was open was not painted), there were several drips in the paint, and one of the pins that hold the door steady once it is open was bent). Dave is coming out next week to take care of all of these issues. Dave and his helper came back a week later to tackle all of the issues that my tenant had commented on. Upon completion, I reviewed all of the work that had been done to remediate the problems, and everything was done to my satisfaction. I was very pleased. I am planning on using Dave again to perform the exact same task in the adjoining bedroom. I am hoping things will go a bit smoother this time since Dave has now had the extra experience of changing out sliding doors for bi-fold doors He now knows what to expect and what needs to be done to get the doors to fit correctly. I just hope that Dave takes in consideration the traffic, the need to get the doors before the day of the job, and the time it will take to paint the doors so that there the job does not take as long as it did this time.
Description of Work: Removed sliding closet doors in 1960's house and replaced them with bi-fold doors.

Contacted by phone and scheduled service for week out, was told that I had to call the evening before the scheduled service to confirm the appointment. Didn't get the point in doing that, if I have an appointment unless I cancel it why should I have to reconfirm it? Haven't had to do that with anyone. Regardless, called the evening before to confirm and phone was unanswered so left detailed VM. He returned my phone call but had clearly not listened to my VM and just said call back if you have questions as I could not answer. Called again, same thing...again left VM, again got call back but I was unable to answer and left VM saying call back if you have questions. I understand that one is busy and unable to answer the phone, but if I am leaving a detailed VM at least listen to it. Essentially in my VM I was saying I am just calling to confirm the appointment for tomorrow. Next morning I called again to make sure that the appointment was on and he said he would come by a certain time. He didn't so I called and same thing no answer so again left VM. By this time I was ready for him not to show up. He finally did come about 2 hours after the time that we had scheduled, was completely non-apologetic. Told him what work I needed, he said he could do part of it and would come back to finish it later. I should have said no but nonetheless I let him get started. Neither he nor his associate removed their shoes or wore any shoe protectors as they walked in the house. Hung three frames and changed a light fixture. By this time I had to leave for a business meeting but my wife was home. She asked them to hang few other frames and he said he would come back later to finish it. At this time she said forget it we will do it ourselves coz we don't know what time you will come back. To that he just smirked and said, "you are still welcome". Then he decided to finish this project as well. Once he was done the nails were all over the floor and this despite us telling him we have a one year old who crawls all over the house. We found him to be extremely unprofessional and someone who did not value our time. I will not use his services again and do not recommend him to anyone. I am surprised he has 100+ A reviews, but the service I got was nowhere close to "A". Maybe he provides better service for bigger jobs.

Dave and his employees went right to work when they arrived. They started by removing the fluorescent lights, which were all gunked-up with ancient wasp nests (ugh!). The lights were about 12 feet up, so this involved working on ladders to get to the lights. The lights were removed, and the new lights were replaced, and after a little difficulty with the electricity caused by me accidentally turning it off at the switch, everything worked fine. Next came the installation of the fans, and since I stayed out of the way this time, that installation went even more quickly. Last came the microwave build, which, since the unit was made abroad, was a mess of bad instructions, missing holes, holes drilled in the wrong places, etc. This was, by far, the toughest job, since the crew basically had to figure out how to put the pieces together without any decent instructions. In the end, they put it together, and it looks and functions great. I would use Dave Rountree and his crew again in a New York minute. Dave tells you exactly what the situation is, if anything extra is needed, and explains anything you need explained. He is very concerned about quality, and as a result, has hired a very good crew that knows their business to work for him. Dave supervises and helps solve problems that crop up?he knows his stuff, too. I highly recommend Dave and his crew. You will get good work done for a fair and reasonable cost.
Description of Work: The provider did a lot, and he and his employees did it all extremely well. I had three jobs for Dave and his crew: 1) remove two old falling-apart fluorescent lights from my patio ceiling and replace them with two new fluorescent lights; 2) remove two old, falling-apart fans from my patio ceiling and replace them with two new patio fans; and 3) put together a flat-pack microwave stand.

Dave Roundtree gave me a quote on the job, and when I accepted , told me he had Mark with him and he could begin immediately. Mark was very professional and respectful of my wishes concerning how the jobs were done. Mark finished the chores on my list, except for painting the freshly sheet rocked area, but only because the mud had not totally dried . He will be coming to finish the job today or tomorrow. My husband did not care for the quality of his painting on a stair rail, but i will ask Mark to repaint when he returns. Dave is a very pleasant fellow, and let me know there was no job too small. I will be having him back to do more repairs. My only complaint is: credit cards are listed as one of the payment options on the Angie's List site, but Dave does not accept them. That information should be updated.
Description of Work: I had a long list of small jobs -- everything from minor sheetrock repair, installation of a plumbing panel, painting & paint touch up, plus several heavy boxes of books that needed to be carried to the 3rd floor storage area. I had a vast amount of cardboard and styrofoam that needed to be broken down and hauled away for recycling and trash. I had several handyman services refuse the job because it was too small.

My husband and I tried to install our kitchen faucet, but after the install discovered it was leaking. Dave sent some guys who were courteous and professional and who replaced the old water lines. A day after they left, I discovered it was still leaking and the water lines were switched. (I think the factory manufacturer mislabeled the hot water pipe). The next day Dave came himself with another gentleman and switched and made sure everything was tight and no leaks. He was responsive, courteous, professional and came out the same day that I needed his help. Will use again in the future.

we were looking for a handyman to take care of some odds and ends and went with Dave due to his good reviews. Needed a kitchen faucet installed, some patch work on some wood and a dryer connected. Everything went well, the price was very good but the one snafu was that they had to come back out to fix the connection to the dryer because it was slightly leaking gas. Our older house had an apparently discontinued 3/8 line which wouldn't work with our new dryer. His guys did not notice/take this into account. So, Dave came out personally and fixed it after hunting down a custom 3/8 line for us. So bad thing is they had to come out a 2nd time, but Dave had a great attitude the whole way and wanted to make sure it was done right. This knocked the quality down from an A to a B because I had to adjust my plans to accommodate the 2nd day of work. I will call him next time I need some handyman work done.

Roberto was sent out to do the job. It was expected to take 2 day. He arrived at 8:30 in the morning. He was very polite and ready to get started. He asked a few questions about our current carpet, if it was going to be saved or not. He also asked which direction we would like the laminate put down. He had all of his tools hand and worked non stop the whole day and completed the project in 1 day! He noticed that the trim in our dining room was not finished (we did that room ourselves - bad decision), and offered to finish up that for us as well. He was very clean, cleaned up all his supplies, and swept the room for us. He paid close attention to details going back and staining all the nail heads on the trim so that they don't show. Very pleased with his work and will definitely use him again as we do the rest of our house.

Dave was incredibly friendly, and his team was very helpful. We had a slight misunderstanding with scheduling the appointment, but in the end, Dave was 30 minutes early. The team member who painted was very careful about covering/changing his shoes in order to avoid tracking tiny spots of paint anywhere. Because they squeezed me in at the last minute (which rates high on responsiveness!) they didn't quite have time to do a full cleanup, but I was able to do that quickly. I also touched up just a bit of the paint, but the service was still quite good.

Mr. Roundtree tentatively scheduled work at my home on Saturday to fix an issue that hadn't been fixed properly by the previous person and the repair was time sensitive. Mr. Roudtree asked that I send him photos of the work that needed to be done, keep in touch, and update him. I did. After sending the requested photos, he responded right away that he received the photos, but never contacted me to let me know "if or when" his tech would arrive on Saturday even after I sent multiple text requests inquiring about his tech's expected time of arrival. By 3pm Saturday afternoon, having never heard from Mr. Roundtree, I was so frustrated trying to fix this household issue by myself, I texted him to tell him how disappointed I was with his lack of communication, especially since he told me to be communicative during our original conversation! He immediately phoned me to provide an explanation, but I needed to finish the work and didn't have time for his excuses. It makes me sad because we really need a good handyman to help fix several things around the house. Can anyone make any recommendations?

I contacted Dave Monday afternoon asking for a quote. We agreed on a 10am appointment for the following day. He showed up on time. I walked him through what items needed to be completed. He gave me the price, I asked how soon he could start? To my surprise he was able to get the work started and completed that same day. He was professional, highly knowledgeable, made sure to clean up and construction waste out in time for the garbage truck. I would hire him and his team again.

Dave Roundtree sent Michael out to give me estimates on several different things. I chose drywall repair in ceiling first since I had holes to fix. One in bedroom was about a 4x4, a small one in dining area was probably about a foot, and the one in back bathroom was the whole ceiling. Michael arrived at 9 with two helpers and they were able to finish in one day, which was unexpected. I will definitely be calling Mike again, as we have already discussed some other jobs.
