This was a second trip out to our house. The first tech did a very poor job (repair lasted for about three weeks). Called again to have this repair looked at once more. This tech (Rick K.) fixed everything that the first tech missed. Also fixed another item in a matter of minutes. Learned that the first tech had suddenly quit. I think that was good for this company to not have this person on staff any longer. Company didn't charge for travel on the return vist. Just parts and labor. I would use them, at any time.
Description of Work: Fan ceiling light had a short. High ceiling called for a tall ladder. Also a kitchen light fixture was faulty.

Thanks RV, glad Rick did a great job for you. It is so hard to get good quality technicians so when I hire a new guy like the first one that went to your home, I have to depend on the feedback to know how he is doing. He is not with us anymore.Sorry for the inconvenience.

I contacted Sugarland Electric to receive an estimate for some outdoor electrical work on my rent property. This was on a Monday morning and was told the technician would likely come out by day's end. By Wednesday no follow-up call or e-mail so I called back late in the day and talked with Dave Kelsey (contact name listed on on account). He indicated all his technicians had not yet returned to the shop and likely one of them had done the estimate during the day. He took my e-mail and said he'd be back in touch. By weekend no word from Sugarland Electric. Lack of responsiveness, effective communication, and professionalism.

WOW!!! Yes, we had a week jammed with emergency calls and service appointments and it was difficult to fit in a FREE estimate, but we did get there late Thursday afternoon and I received the information for the estimate on Friday afternoon. I worked up the numbers for the quote on Saturday ($795) and was going to type it up and send it to you this morning, Monday, but I guess that just isn't fast enough. It just goes to prove, you can't please all the people all the time, but I'll keep on trying.

From my initial call to office when she got me an appointment while volunteering to see if they could not help me sooner if my schedule permitted to the completion of work the experience was professional and courteous. Electrician that came did an excellent job, answered my questions about other items I would like to replace and remodel. I will call him again to do additional work soon.
Description of Work: Electrician came to replace kitchen fixtures last electrician told me were broken. He looked for problem and fixed it with no replacement needed. He also hung new fixtures for me outside, a ceiling fan and fixtures in my entry.

Had family heirloom, kitchen/eating area chandelier that was over 100 years old. Dwayne did an excellent job of rewiring it and installing it. He also added a separate switch to operate it. We also had decked part of the attic and wanted to add lights. Very satisfied and will definitely use them for any electrical needs in the future.

Grace church contacted Sugar Land Electric to replace some very high up lights in the sanctuary, hallway and in the parking lot. After the tech came to see what was needed, it took 12 days to get a quote. I had to purchase the interior lights which was an additional $85. Once they came, the work went very smoothly and the workmen were very easy to work with. We have put them on our list of preferred vendors.

They were going to charge me a $29.00 trip charge and then $79 per hour. I called them back and they were going to lower the trip charge to $19.00 instead of $29.00. I don't think anyone should charge a trip charge.
Description of Work: needed a outlet moved
Rating CategoryRating out of 5

Response from Sugar Land Electric
EVERYBODY charges a trip charge one way or another. Some call it a mileage fee, others call it a diagnostic fee, others just have a minimum first hour priced higher than the second and consecutive hours, but nobody will send a van with a journeyman electrician to your house for free unless they are charging outrageous prices once they arrive, as I have seen with many of my competitors. We have to pay the electrician for his time, the labor burden on top of that, plus fuel and maintenance and insurance for the vehicle his is driving, not to mention the expense of the GPS tracking service, the one million dollar liability insurance we carry PER vehicle, and several other small expenses. You want all that for free? It's expensive to keep the doors open, and we give you the power to simply pick up the phone and order a journeyman electrician and a fully stocked van to arrive at your doorstep. That's the power of money. It makes me sad when I present up front honest pricing and some people prefer to believe that they are getting something for nothing.

Ever thing went well. The service was great and the price very competitive.
Description of Work: I have two sets of outdoor lights, one at the back door, and one at the front door. I called Sugar Land Electric and they said that Rick, who has been at our home before could be here in a few hours. Rick came out and I explained what I wanted which was to set up an automatic timer for both sets of lights from the indoor electrical box. He said this could be done and offered to pick up the timers for us and install. The work was done quickly and professionally He left and that night the back yard timers worked, but the front door timer did not. Since this was the New Year's weekend, we waited until next week which was no problem. Rick came back and reset the timer. That night the front door lights worked perfectly. We are very pleased with Rick and the entire Sugar Land Electric operation. We will continue to use them for all of our electrical needs and will not hesitate to recommend them to all of our friends.

After the lights were continuously dimming and there were popping sounds when turning on various appliances in the house, we discovered there was a variance in the voltage and that the neutral wire was no longer functioning properly. Consequently, we had to replace the underground wire that runs from the meter to the transformer. We obtained quotes from several companies, and Sugar Land Electric presented the best quote. They started the work as promised. They answered any/all questions and did an excellent job. We will not hesitate to recommend them to others and will not hesitate to use them again for other electrical needs.
Description of Work: Replaced underground feeders from transformer to meter, with new wires in a new PVC pipe, 18" below the ground. They had to dig a trench approximately 60 ft. long and approximately 20" deep. Replaced the dirt and grass neatly, left the area clean, and did an excellent job.

It took a while to figure out what was going on with my original coaxial connection. I had an unusual situation so electrician counsulted with his boss. They figured it out and things went smoothly from there. Very happy they were willing to come out to install the two new coaxial connections because the first company I called from Angie's List was unwilling to deal with coaxials. Found out that my house ground wire had been severed by the yard people. Glad to have that fixed. Installed a regular outlet in hallway. Added a hardwired surge protector at panel. I feel that the price they charged me was fair. They honored their Angie's List coupon. I will be using them again for future electrical needs.

A series of lights in my kitchen were going off at random times (usually once a day). They would go off for about 30 minutes and then come back on. I called Sugar Land Electric. Rick came out and checked all of the switches in the series. He rewired a couple correctly and then found a broken one. He replaced it. He also checked the breaker box. I twas happy with his service and would call them again!

After purchasing two new light fixtures for our kitchen and dining room, we phoned Sugar Land Electric to make an appointment with them. Surprisingly, they were able to assign an electrician to come the same day to do the work. The electrician (Bobby) arrived right on time. His main concern was placing the new light fixtures at the exact heights we desired. He did his work in a timely way. He was polite with a great sense of humor. We know Sugar Land Electric charged us a fair price and will be happy to call them again for any electrical work we need done.

Bobby came out to install all three items. He was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He installed the items, was willing to set the timers for us (which was not necessary) and even worked to trouble shoot the motion sensor that didn't work quite right when it was first installed. We would definitely use Sugar Land Electric again if the need arises, and would be happy to have Bobby perform the work. Pricing was fair, and we even had an Angie's List coupon which helped out with the cost!
Description of Work: We had one motion sensor and two timers that needed to be installed to replace three existing light switches. We thought we could install them ourselves, but all were replacing three-pole switches and we weren't exactly sure which wires to connect where. We felt more comfortable leaving it to a professional.

It was bittersweet. The guy came and told us a price. He was suppose to come back but did not show up. we set another schedule but the guy couldnt show up. The boss called and apologized saying that he is proud of his company. He said he would send a guy out and not charge us for it. I would give him 5 stars even though he had issues with the man power, but he was kind enough to say he didnt do business like that and did the work for free. They were very professional and cleaned up behind them, they did a great job.

Thanks for the report. What makes this one really nice is that you said you found us on Google, so I didn't know you were an Angie's List customer. He spent a lot of time with us and I could not be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend Dave and his firm of Sugar Land Electric.

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Sugar Land Electric. I called them on an emergency basis when my pool pump quit working, and the pool service person told me it was an electrical issue. Bobby arrived at my home about 30 minutes after my phone call, and after assessing the situation, he explained clearly what had happened, and also how the repairs would be performed. There was a short in the underground wire(s) caused by construction damage last year. I was aware of that damage, and had called John Moore at that time to fix the problem. Their remedy was to tape the wires together! Bobby explained that after a period of time, moisture gets into the PVC pipe and then the wire shorts out. He said the only safe and reliable method of repair was to run new wires from the junction box to the control box. He scheduled another appointment with me so that he could come back with an assistant to help him run the wires through the existing PVC pipe. Bobby and another person arrived when scheduled, and completed the work in a very satisfactory manner. The GFCI circuit which John Moore had installed and charged me a fortune for, had never been working properly, much to my alarm. When Sugar Land Electric finished, everything was working fine, including a new switch and GFCI for the swimming pool light. They were extremely professional ... Bobby is a great guy to work with and has a fun sense of humor, which helped to relieve some of the stress I was going through. They cleaned up everything after work was completed, and best of all ..... charged about $150.00 LESS than the original estimate. Almost unheard of these days!
