Jason, the owner of this company, is also our neighbor--he lives on the next street down from us and maintains several lawns on my street--so this plays into what I have to say about this company. On a positive note, all of the work Plantation Landscaping has done for us has been fairly priced and well done. We have used them for the occasional lawn mow (my husband likes to maintain our yard himself, but he occasionally works offshore, and with two small children, it is very difficult for me to be able to get it done myself. Plus I can't edge worth a darn!) but we also hired them to clear a substantial amount of brush and clean up our existing landscaping in our back yard. We spent several hundred dollars on that work this spring and had planned to hire them for more of the same this winter when some of the foliage is less overgrown. Last Monday, I called them to see if they could come by and mow our yard since my husband is offshore again (he can be gone anywhere from 2-12 weeks at a time). Jason told me that it isn't worth his time to just mow a yard every now and then; being summertime, he is just too busy to handle anything besides his "regular" customers who have their lawns mowed weekly. He said that if we hired him on a weekly basis for the rest of the summer, he would try to squeeze us into his schedule. Now, fair enough; the man doesn't want anything but regular clients taking up his limited time. But it isn't as if we only ever used them for the odd mow. We very recently spent several hundred dollars with them and planned to spend more. Plus, as I said, he's our neighbor. He knows my situation: a mother of two very young children, by herself for weeks at a time. To me, the neighborly thing to do would be to explain that he couldn't mow our yard randomly but he would take care of it this once or something like that (it needed mowing and we live in an HOA that can be quite strict about such things). Or even, hey I can't do it, but let me recommend someone I trust who needs the business. But he didn't do that. That's okay, I told him: I understand. The next day, Tuesday, he mows the lawn of the person who lives right next to me, the adjoining yard. Later that day, when I got my kiddos down for a nap and decide to at least mow our front yard by myself, I discovered that he didn't even mow our neighbor's yard up to our property line, but left an extra couple of feet for me to do on top of my own lawn. Yeah, I know it's a first world problem: "Waa, the lawn guy made me mow two more feet than I should have had to, waaa!" But it was just somewhat galling that he couldn't even say to himself, "You know, this lady needs some help, so I will mow a little extra on her side." So I mowed it myself, braving the 100 degree heat and the many bees (another reason I don't like to mow is that I also have a bee sting allergy), but it got done. Now, as I said at first, they do good work at a decent price, so if that is the only thing that matters to you when looking for a lawn/landscaping company, then I cannot disparage what they have done for us in the past. But I can't help but feel that we paid them a not-insignificant amount of money and were treated rather shabbily in return. As much as I would like to keep our dollars in our neighborhood, landscaping companies abound, and I would rather not give more money to this one. I hope my review provides some enlightenment as to the character of this business and its owner.
Description of Work: We have used Plantation Landscaping for an occasional lawn mow and edge, and hired them in this last spring to clear brush and spruce up the landscaping around our pool.

Response from Plantation Landscaping
I am Jason Troth the Owner of Plantation Landscaping Texas. I would like to start by showing appreciation for the fact that this customer felt that we always did a good job at a fair price for all the completed lawn and landscaping services in the past. I would also like to thank them for the previous business. In the summer months our residential mowing crews are operating at full capacity each day. One of our company policies is that we do not cut any residential yards that are not being maintained on a weekly basis. In order for us to complete our scheduled cuts each day we must stick to the schedule and only service customers who have monthly contracts with us. We have a specific rout each day and are only in each neighborhood we service one day a week. I will always find a way to service a new or existing customer that wants weekly mowing and maintenance or any other landscaping service. In order for us to do so I must set the schedule in advance to ensure all our contract customers get serviced each week on their scheduled day. I cannot justify cutting a yard once or every now and then because it means that we will not be able to fulfill our obligation to our weekly customers. I will not make exceptions to this specific company policy regardless of if the person is a neighbor or not. I have implemented all of our business policies in order to promote a quality and reliable landscaping service. In regards to the $375 landscape clean up job that we completed for this customer, I was willing to accept payment in 2 installments at the request of the customer because of the fact they live in the same neighborhood as my wife and I. I am always willing to work with customers that I have developed a business and/or personal relationship with but will not make exceptions to this policy. I take pride in the fact that we are able to provide the scheduled service for each of our weekly customers on time every time. Our business policies are in place for a reason and have allowed for Plantation Landscaping Texas to grow over the past 5 years, while still being able to provide a great service at a competitive price. As a business owner I have to make decisions that are best for the company and my customers as well, even if that means turning down the occasional one time cut. I am always up front and honest with my customers about our policies but understand that everyone won't always agree with them.
