Air Stat Air Conditioning & Heating

I meant to write this review back in 2018 when Dan Gillis and his crew installed a new evaporator coil. They did an amazing job -- I liked that the work was done by his crew and not outsourced to a 3rd party. This month two members of his team did the spring tune-up. They were very thorough and went beyond my expectations with the checking, cleaning and draining.

It was very good, I was very impressed wit them every time, They were on time and very professional. I've been using them for 4 times now.

In a straight forward manner, Dan gave us pricing for the furnace replacement that included his specific itemization of about one dozen specific components related to the proposed installation. Other estimates we received simply stated the brand and model of the furnace and the price for replacement. Dan's proposal provided us with all new components, unlike the other estimates. With regard to duct-work, Dan explained that air-flow and air quality would be significantly improved with replacement, but existing duct-work was still functional. He left the decision up to us. Roy, assisted by Mike & Xris did an outstanding job of replacing both the furnace and duct-work. Roy is a seasoned professional whose thorough HVAC knowledge and experience was clearly evident. He was a pleasure to work with. Our new duct-work rated R-8 clearly has improved air flow throughout the house. The overall system is working great and work was accomplished with no hassle and much courtesy.

In all my dealings with Dan, I have found him to be very knowledgeable, very responsive, of very high quality, and reasonably priced. I know I am using “very” a lot in the previous statements, but in Dan’s case, I believe it is warranted. Dan has even helped us with house problems not related to air conditioning. In short I trust and highly recommend him and his team. They are good guys!

It is easy to do business with Dan. He promptly returns calls and we were able to quickly find a mutually agreeable time to do the work. He had the unit delivered the night before installation and all went smoothly.

All went very well and is on going each spring and fall.

Dan Gillis was very responsive to our needs. I was recently released from the hospital following surgery and was quite miserable to start. Add barely any air conditioning on top (we had a small portable unit) and I was desperate. His crew arrived early the next morning and we had air conditioning by late afternoon. The crew was respectful and were actually worried they would aggravate my condition! They worked hard to finish and were amazing. Dan checked in frequently.

I called Air Stat. They investigated and stated that I needed a rework of my drain line and a new emergency drain pan. They performed this service for $600. The reworked drain line never worked and the AC continued to leak into the new emergency drain pan. I called them and they looked at the unit, but could not find a problem. They suggested the drain p-trap might not have water in it and poured some in. The unit continued to leak into the emergency pan. I called again and my call was not returned. I called again and reached Mr. Gillis. He said he would have to call me back later in the day. I never heard from him and gave up. I called another service and they immediately diagnosed that the primary drain pan in my unit was cracked, and that had caused the leak all along. Air Stat's $600 solution had not addressed the actual problem at alI. I had a new unit installed and it works great. Three weeks later, Mr. Gillis still has not called me back.

Another outstanding job by Air Stat. With limited attic space, technicians carefully removed an existing system and installed new equipment. The new installation makes the equipment more accessible. Problems generated by the old system installation were resolved and the new unit functions very efficiently. Air Stat really did this job right. We look forward to trouble free performance from the new unit.

We've had them out several times. One of our units was not getting air to the master bedroom. They came out and switched some vents around and that helped. What they did worked and it solved the problem but I thought it was a little bit expensive for that.

All went perfect. Very confident in their technical and troubleshooting ability. Went above and beyond in making sure all code requirements were met and made corrections where needed. Also, performed attic ductwork repairs at no additional cost to me. Very careful and clean inside the house, all floors covered etc. Provided me with all info needed to allow me to register my system in order to get the full 10 yr warranty. Will use again - and will call them when my old heating component needs replacement. Old system check and new system install done by very competent team of Roy and Chris. Owner Dan Gillis always tied in to job and kept me informed throughout the install.

Dan and his team did an excellent job. I highly recommend them. They were prompt, polite, neat, and did an excellent job with what was a demanding installation (low-pitch roof/small attic space, small access opening in ceiling, etc.). Dan listened to what my requirements and concerns were and put together a plan of action that addressed them. I received quotes from multiple vendors, and Dan's proposal was the one that I had the most confidence in. The system has been running for more than a year now and is about 20% more efficient at cooling the house than the previous one. Clearly some of that is down to the components chosen, but any internet search will verify that it's intelligent system design and quality installation that matters most in HVAC. AirStat definitely provided that.

From the first call, everything went smoothly! Dan returned my call right away and made an appointment for the next day to come by. He was very thorough in his assessment. That evening he emailed a written and detailed quote of the work he would perform. We agreed on the price and he set up a day the following week to do the job. His lead man, Roy and his crew showed up as promised and in spite of some serious thunderstorms, finished the job in one day. They worked late into the night to insure that my A/C was working! I can't say enough about them! Excellent workmanship, excellent people, quality products. I couldn't have asked for more!

He never called me back. I left 2 voicemails and an email with no response. I gave up.

Returned contact almost immediately and set up appointment. 2 employees were sent out and made an assessment of what was needed to complete the job. Mr. Gillis wrote up a bid listing 4 different options and pricing and then went over the pros and cons with me. After going over all of the information we decided to replace the entire unit. He was able to order everything in & get the job done the next day as promised. The men that worked on the AC were very professional and polite. Mr. Gillis stopped by a couple of times to check on how the job was progressing. Very pleased with results. Will recommend to friends. Thanks, Elizabeth Adams & I wasn't sure if I was going to renew my Angie's List subscription but since it worked I guess I will.

This is the third time we have used Air Stat over the years, and we wouldn't consider calling anyone else. Dan is a huge believer in customer service. He came out to diagnose the problem on the morning of his daughter's high school graduation, knowing how desperate we were to get air restored in the Houston summer. He offered several well-detailed options, and got us on the schedule as quickly as possible. Dan, Chris and Roy spent all day here (8 - 6) until the job was done. They do excellent work and showed great respect for our home. I highly recommend Air Stat.

I gave the Job to Dan Gillis and I got the lowest bid...so gave him the job...and they were very professional about it.... Roy and Chris worked on the ducts...first they took out and hauled the old ducts and cleaned the attic out.. Then they started installing the Ducts It took 2 days for the whole work to be completed and I am very happy that I gave Dan to complete the Job. Right now the whole house is cooling very well ..what Dan had said it would do. I am very satisfied with the work performed and would recommend Air Stat to all.

Showed up right on time and got to work diagnosing the problems. The challenge was the house was a foreclosure on the builder where the A/C install was not quite finished or debugged and there are 3 units to look at. Making matters more complicated one of the problems was an intermittent fan. The guys were very knowledgable and found a possible cause of the intermittency and that system has worked perfectly ever since. In the attic there was a slight smell of natural gas, not enough to really be concerned with but the guys found it in a heartbeat and replaced a poorly installed fitting to fix that problem. They found the units to be a bit low with freon, the house had been sitting empty after the install for ~4 years - and now the systems can be set so cold in here I could store meat. Great bunch of guys to work with - clean and friendly. They left the house in as good as shape as when they arrived. Definitely would use again.

I spoke with Dan, the owner, around 8:30 am and he had someone at my house by 10:30 that morning. Roy and Chris thoroughly inspected the entire system, and recommended some options. Because the unit was over 10 years old, we opted to install a complete new system. I was very pleased to hear that the same people that inspected would do the equipment installation. They were very careful around the carpets and wood floors. I have used several different HVAC companies in Houston over the past 20+ years, and I highly recommend Air Stat.

Went very well. Very professional. Came on a Sunday to diagnose and establish correct diagnosis.

Our downstairs A/C was not cooling. The company that had been working on our units for years could not find a leak and merely added freon to the system. We contacted Dan Gillis after another contractor recommended him. After some meticulous troubleshooting, the leak was found, along with numerous other issues, such as crimped copper lines and incorrect wiring. It was apparent that the previous company's technician had been lazy and negligent. Roy and his assistant went above and beyond with this job. They corrected many issues, including repairing a broken duct. Unfortunately a new condensing unit had to be installed, but at least we're pretty sure it was done correctly. We will definitely call Air Stat for maintenance or any other future issues. It is refreshing to deal with such honest and competent people!

Dan called me within minutes of my request to schedule service, and Roy came out the next day. He was on time, and did a very thorough job. It was not a happy experience, as repairs had to be made to a just squeaked out of warranty air conditioning unit, and it was not cheap, but Roy and Dan made things as painless for me as possible, by being out front with the cost. The part we needed was brought out pretty quickly. I felt the price was fair, and overall that they took really good care of us. Thanks guys!

Both our heater and air conditioner died the same day...Both were old. They came out "Stat" and got the air conditioner working. It was a temp fix that lasted until we were able to replace both units.
