+ 0 moreWe noticed some shingles were missing from the front of the house. I called Larry from Above All Roofing and he came out that day to take a look at what was going on. Not only were shingles missing but there was an area approximately 4 x 4 of plywood that was rotten because the ice and watershield had not been installed on the roof when it was built in 2008. Larry came out the next day to fix the roof and ended up having to replace an area of about 8 x 8. He did not charge me for the extra plywood or shingles which I thought was really amazing. He was very honest and reliable and I would hire his company again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Cut out rotten plywood - installed ice & watershield - installed GAF/ELK 30 year shingles.

+ 1 moreSee above! We are very pleased with the work Above All Roofing did in finishing our job. They are wonderful men to have in your home. Very pleasant to deal with. Honesty and integrity is their code of honor.
Description of Work: Above All Roofing was a company that had been highly recommended to us by a close friend. The job we asked them to do was to remove a wall between the back of our garage and a bedroom on the other side. This wall was damaged because of our automobile hitting the wall very hard and doing extensive damage. The owner of the company came and did a thorough inspection of what was involved in removing and replacing the wall. The entire wall was replaced. There was a major electical connection on this wall, as well as a natural gas line to our dryer. The proper inspections were done to make sure the gas line was safe and could be even better protected in case of future problems. The men who came and removed all the dry wall, insulation, and base boards, were very professional and pleasant. As my husband and I were scheduled to take our vacation to Vermont during this time period, we were aware that we could trust the honesty and integrity of the workers and the owner. We were not disappointed. Our oldest son, Tim, was there during the time the work was being done. Tim also is excellent at doing small remodeling jobs and was aware of the process and the quality of workmanship Above All Roofing was doing. Tim lives in Plano, Texas, and was down at our home with his wife and three small boys taking a vacation, going back and forth to Galveston. They stayed at our home during the complete remodel and observed the cleanliness of the work area, the inside laundry room, hall, and the involved bedroom. The work was done with excellent dry wall (not made in China); both the electrical connection and gas line were reinforced for greater protection. The weather in Houston area during August is very hot, 98 degrees or hotter and we were concerned about the air conditioning running, especially at night as our family would be sleeping in our home and needing to use the air conditioning. But the workers carefully covered the open wall between the bedroom and the garage with heavy plastic sheeting and also shut and covered the air conditioning vent in the involved bedroom. The new wall was put back up in a matter of hours. When the wall was finished the workers painted the garage wall and base board and then matched the paint in the bedroom and painted the inside wall and base board as well. You cannot tell that there has ever been a problem with this back garage wall or in the bedroom either. We are very pleased with the work Above All Roofing did in finishing our job. It was done in the exact time frame they said it would be done and it was done within the cost that was given to us in our estimate. We would definitely use them again for any remodel of this size.

+ -1 moreIt went real well in that the other two companies recommended replacing two roofs- the original roof and an extension that was about 3 years old. The owner of Above All Roofing Larry Posten did not think I needed all of that and my insurance adjuster also did not think I had any major damage from the recent hurricane and hail storm in my area. ( Greatwood- Sugar Land) MR. Posten thought he could do it with a good deal of repair work including rubber boots, 6 areas of shingles, also shingles around the vent stacks using the water shields, and replacing some trim boards. Also replace a large plywood piece that was rotton and leaking in the middle of the house on the roof. Above All Roofing came out the day I called and fixed everything two days later all to my satisfaction. I also had another roofer come out earlier ( about two months previous to this one) and eyeball it and wanted $3000. So I was happy to get someone like Mr. Posten out here and fix it for a very reasonable price.
Description of Work: Roof estimate to see if I needed a new roof or just repair. I had two previous estimates saying I needed a new roof for approx $12,000 and I submitted a claim to the insurance co which was turned down. This company ( Above All Roofing) said while the roof was old , it was adequate and I did need some repair work around most of the places on a roof meeting vents and drainage areas . Also had one leak due to a piece of rotton plywood which needed replacing.

+ 1 moreI had a slow leak from the place where my gutter met the roof--apparently over several years, the gutter actually wore through the shingles and water was leaking into the space between the exterior of the house and the interior wall in my dining room. I discovered it completely by chance one day when I was dusting in that room and discovered warping along the baseboard and water damage (no water had actually leaked through my ceiling or on my hardwood floor--go figure!) Anyway, I contacted Above All--they fixed the gutter problem and repaired the roof. In addition, they ripped out and replaced the drywall, my crown moulding, my baseboards and the chair rail along that wall, tore out and replaced all the insulation that had gotten wet and moldy inside the wall, and repainted everything, including texturizing the wall to match the original. These folks did a FABULOUS job!! The area they repaired looks even better than it did before the damage. They had to do a bit of hunting to find crown moulding that matched what I had, but they found it. All the work was done extremely professionally--they checked every detail to ensure it was done to my satisfaction. I have already recommended them to others and plan to use them again next year when to do some remodeling in my kitchen and bath. I don't think you can go wrong with these guys!

They replaced a board after that work was over, even though that was not included in the original quote. Work was done on time. The workers were good. I know it?s difficult to replace a roof. There has to be cleaning done after that. They did not d that and I had to do some cleanup myself. I would use them in the future.

+ 1 moreBased upon Angie's list reviews and information presented on company website, I decided to call Above All Roofing & Construction. I always search for "A" rated service companies and this company fit the profile. I liked how the company prides itself on being honest and after meeting owner Larry Posten, his son and brother, I liked them right away. They came to my home promptly the next day following my initial call and began work that afternoon following my review of the estimate. My project actually required an experienced company with siding as well as a general handyman. They do it all. There was a bad odor in our bathroom area. Our exterminator thought it may possibly be due to a dead skunk/rat which could have entered through a hole in the siding and suggested contacting a handyman. It required removal of the siding, searching under and around the garden tub and in the toilet area wall. Larry and his son did this and were not able to find an animal. Although, they did find the skeletal remains of a dead rat and removed it. However, it was not the source of the problem. Therefore, the siding was rebuilt and when they finished it looked better than the original. The original idea was to cut a hole or two if necessary inside the bathroom toilet area to continue the search the next morning. Upon returning, Larry had a less intrusive idea. A few small holes were drilled in the toilet area to search for the source of the odor. It could not be found. We will be remodeling our bath in the near future, so Larry suggested he could either send a painter out now to patch and repair the walls or we could wait till we remodeled vs patching the holes now over wallpaper which would lead to retexturizing the walls and floating later. We decided to wait till the remodel. The siding was painted and sealed with a foaming product to prevent further entrance by animals. The next day the foam had expanded and could be seen easily. I called Larry and he gladly came out to fix it the very next day even though the job had been completed. Following the start of my project, I learned that my neighbor had found Above All Construction through her church and had utilized their services on numerous extensive projects on her home from interior/exterior painting to bathroom remodeling. They also built a beautiful new roof for them. They were extremely please and highly recommended their services. She commented that she felt very comfortable leaving the key for them everyday. They were also very nice people to work with which I agreed with as well.
Description of Work: Removed and Replaced Rotten Wood (#3, 1x4's) Removed and Replaced (#1, 3/4" board ) Rebuilt siding under Master Bathroom Window. Matched paint and painted upon completion.

Description of Work: They responded quickly to our request for an estimate on a roof repair for a newly bought house. Within one day they sent someone out to look at what we were told was a problem roof. They told us the roof was fine, didn't need repairing now, but in about three years. They also explained to us why someone might think there was a problem with the roofline addition to an add-on, but that really it was OK. We were very impressed they took over an hour to really walk us through the issues with this house's roof - and - most critically they gave an honest assessment the roof wasn't in need of immediate attention. They told us they hoped to get our business in a couple of years, and they certainly will.

+ -1 moreI accepted Larry and Matt's bid on the basis of a spectacular list of references and a good price. They were cooperative with my bat exclusionist when the bat project turned out to be much more complex than anticipated. It required some roof work beyond what was agreed upon in our initial contract; the price they quoted me for the additional work was reasonable. A return trip was needed and I paid for it in advance. When they were unable to make it on the day they said they would return, Larry called to let me know when he and Matt would return. I would definitely hire them again!
Description of Work: A bat exclusionist recommended nailing down some ridge vents after a colony of bats was discovered in my attic. I hired Above All Roofing to do this job and take care of other minor problems in the roof, including a possible leak. Larry and Matt worked with my bat expert when the steepness of the roof made it hard for him to do his job. The bat expert had nothing but good things to say about working with them. The experience was a positive one for me as well.

A longer then expected job prevented them from starting exactly as scheduled (late afternoon), but they still dropped off their equipment and started early the next morning. I though they were very fair and had a great experience.
Description of Work: The installed flashing around the entire house, replaced PVC roof vents with metal vents, and repaired some shingles. They showed up on time and completed the work quickly and carefully. They cleaned up any mess. The squirrels are no longer a problem at my house!

+ -1 moreThe job was done with great care. The old wall was taken down in a day and then one side of the wall was dry walled to close in the house. The weather is very humid and hot here in Missouri City, so the air conditioner didn't have to be stressed. The air conditioner duct was closed off and sealed to protect the unit. Every part of the work was done with care. The job site was clean, and the dry wall dust was kept to a minumum. The new wall was then completed and the paint work was done with on both sides of the wall with care. The wall and the paint work looks great. We are very grateful for the integrity of the work done.
Description of Work: The work performed entailed the removal of a complete wall, from floor to ceiling between the garage and an interior room. The wall was then replaced with a new wall. New wood supports, insulation, dry wall. Also, the wall on both sides had to be repainted. All electrical outlets were reinforced, a safety outlet was on this wall as well, plus a gas line in this wall was reinforced for greater protection. Then the wall was properly taped, sealed, and primed, then painted with a high quality paint. All materials used in the wall were high quality as well.

Description of Work: We had a couple of leaks in our roof. I called and they were out in a couple of days to check out the problem (they would have been here sooner but due to my schedule it was two days later) They came out the following week to do the work. They worked extremely h****** the job even fixing a few other problems that they found along the way for free. They cleaned up after themselves (which a lot of contractors don't) . They stayed till the job was finished which was about seven o clock even though it was a brutally hot day about 115 degrees up on the roof. I would definitely hire them again for any job I needed done whether it be roofing , construction, or remodeling..

+ -1 moreI found Larry at Above All through Angies List. He came the day after I called and did a through inspection and prepared a complete job proposal. As I was not home at the time, he called to let me know the inspection and proposal were complete and left them with my kids who were at home. I had a few questions for Larry after reviewing the proposal. Larry took time to explain what he found and the work he proposed. He answered my questions concerning the remaining life of the roof and what to expect after the repairs were made. Due to the weather, it was a few days before Larry could come out and do the work, but as soon as the rain let up he arrived to do the work. I am not a roofer and have not been on the roof to look at the work, and honestly would not know what to look for if I did go up there, but after talking with Larry I'm sure that if I wanted to he would have been happy to show me the work he did and explain it all to me. He is clearly a man that takes pride in his trade. In any case, no more leaks and the next decent hail storm and I'll probably get the whole roof replaced and I will be calling Larry to do the work. I'm very pleased with his professionalism.
Description of Work: Repaired leaking roof - replaced shingles around heater vents and air hawk and installed ice and water shield. Sealed several loose shingles, all rubber boot vent jacks and heater vent collars.

+ 0 moreOur air conditioning unit leaked through a bedroom ceiling on Memorial Day. We called Above All at 7 a.m. the next morning, and Larry and Matt were here by 9:30. They looked at the damaged ceiling, and we also discussed with them some remodeling work we want to have done in the future. Larry called his subcontractor, Luis, and said they could start work on Wednesday afternoon. Because we had another appointment that afternoon, we agreed that they could start Thursday morning instead. Luis and Albert arrived around 7:30 a.m. and worked until around 2 p.m. with no break. They moved furniture out of the way and covered everything with plastic. They cut out the damaged sheetrock, removed all of the wet insulation which they then cleaned up, and replaced the sheetrock. Although it was hot, they kept the door closed while they were working so that the dust did not go elsewhere in the house. They came back again Friday morning and painted the ceiling. When they were finished, we couldn't even tell that there had been any damage. They moved the furniture back, and were also kind enough to help us move some other things back into the room. They were both very nice and we were extremely impressed with their work ethic.

+ -1 moreThis all started when I had drywall put up in my unfinished garage (by another contractor). The drywall ended up moving the garage doors back about half an inch. But the concrete slab of the garage was not straight along the front, so when I closed the doors, one side would be on the slab, and the other would be on the driveway. I first contacted Larry asking if he could cut the concrete back to have it sit flush on the driveway again. He said he could, but after some discussion, it was decided that this probably wouldn't be the best solution. Instead, he recommended moving the garage doors all the way back on to the slab, then putting trim on the inside to cover any gaps on the sides. He also had Gene of Alvin Garage Doors come and take a look at the doors to see if it was ok to move them back. He said it could be done, but one of the doors was bent and probably wouldn't last long (it had been making a lot of noise before when I bought the house). I went ahead and had both garage doors changed and upgraded to insulated doors. The work was done by Larry, his son, and Gene. They changed and moved both doors back and added 2x6 trim on the inside. He also replaced the exterior trim in from of the doors to cover the gaps on the sides. The original trim didn't extend all the way down, which left a small gap at the corner of the doors. They were able to change the doors, add the trim, and paint to match all in a day. Overall, they did an excellent job! I would definitely hire Larry again. He took the time to talk through all my options. And while he was doing the work, he made sure to check with me to make sure everything was as I wanted it. After talking to him for awhile and hearing some of the bigger jobs he's done, I'm surprised he took on a smaller project like this. But I'm very glad he did!

They listened to the old one, confirmed that it really was defective. Assured me that the new one would be much quieter and they were right! I am very satisfied with their service and price. I will be using them again the next time I need roof work done. Also liked the fact that they were a local Sugar Land company.

+ -1 moreLarry and his son Matt are my heroes. They came right away when I called for help after another roofer left me with a mess. They took pictures of the botched work and emailed them to me before they started working, then they settled in and redid the job right. They're very knowledgeable, and they took the time to explain everything to me and listen to my concerns. They had to do the work over the course of several days, fitting me in between other jobs when extra damage was discovered. They were in constant communication and very flexible about accommodating my schedule. In the end, they cleaned up, bagged all the trash, and set it at the curb. I would have preferred them to haul the trash away, but that's the only criticism I have. They even went beyond what was required and helped me move some shelves from one house to another without charge. Larry and Matt are fine Christian men and excellent workmen. They don't seem to mind taking on small jobs. I plan to use them whenever I can in the future.
Description of Work: I had two roofs that needed repairs: my old house with a few leaks and missing shingles, and my new house with a botched job from another roofer that needed to be ripped out and redone. In the case of the old house, Larry and Matt not only found and fixed the problems on the inspection report (missing shingles and a broken support) but they also found a rotten bit of decking the inspector had missed. They replaced the rotten wood and built a support structure under it that the builder had left out. As for the new house, they removed the tar-smeared shingles left by the other roofer only to find a rotten bit of decking which they replaced. They pulled up a bunch of shingles that had been nailed over an open hole and fixed it properly. They redid the repairs where only a portion of a shingle had been used.

The crew came at 9 a.m., replaced the roof on the house and the garage, and left about 5 p.m. that evening. There have been no leaks observed after a great deal of rain. Mr. Posten was personable and easy to deal with and more than willing to move outside the box in fulfilling a customer's requests.
Description of Work: They replaced our roof with Corning asphalt shingles. They upgraded the roof from heat dissipating whirlybirds to ridge vents. They also did the detached garage. Our house is 1400 square feet.
