On Saturday, April 27th, we discovered a serious leak in our vaulted ceiling. We have a two story house, and this was part of the ceiling not covered by the attic. I hopped on Angie's List and did a little research and sent messages to several contractors. Compelled by the water dripping down our wall, I also decided to leave a voice mail message. Luckily, the first one I called was Above All Roofing and Construction, so instead of leaving a message I got a live person! I described the problem to Larry Posten, and he assured me he could come out on Monday morning to take a look. He was out here just after 9:00AM on Monday morning, identified the problem, provided a very reasonable estimate and performed the work, all before 10:30! Mr. Posten was swift, courteous, efficient and professional, and thanks to his quick response, we're now ready for the next deluge!
Description of Work: A roof leak was repaired. Removed one area of shingles. Installed ice and water shielding. Installed replacement shingles. Sealed 50 loose shingles.

They were prompt, professional, clean and did an excellent job with attention to the smallest detail. They arrived on time everyday, I trusted them in my house without me being home, they left when they said they would leave and before they left, they made sure everything was clean and put back into place. The crew was professional and friendly and they did a great job. I am very pleased. They also redid the roof to our house a couple of years ago, and they did a great job on that. Larry, the owner is a great guy, reliable and true to his word.

My husband and I are both physicians. We were looking for someone trustworthy and reliable who would take great care with our home. We found Larry on Angie's List while looking for a roofer. He came in lower in price and with a higher quality product than his competitors. He was trustworthy, friendly, excellent at his job and a wonderful communicator. He did such an amazing job with the roof that we asked him to perform multiple other jobs. As mentioned, we started with roofing, which was a challenging job given a relatively large 2 story home with multiple compex angles. His crew did an excellent job, were very professional and completed the work in short time. During this time, we learned that Larry did full remodeling jobs. We ended up having him do all the exterior work needed on our 21 year-old home. Larry and crew performed exterior repair work and replaced all existing siding with Hardiplank; the work was excellent. They also painted the entire exterior of the home, again with multiple challenging angles and crevices; Scott and crew did an excellent job and took meticulous care of adjacent brick, windows, walkways, etc. They also did a great job of painting the wrought iron fence and gate, basketball pole and cement planters in front. Larry's crew performed gutter repair and placement of new gutters and downspouts; the work was done well and completed efficiently. We had the brickwork along the driveway all replaced, and brickwork and tilework along the front steps and walkway repaired and replaced. It looks excellent. Wood inserts were replaced between cement sections of our driveway and back patio, which turned out to be a much larger project than Larry and crew anticipated. It initially looked great, but the wood buckled with sun exposure a few days later. Larry came back himself to saw down each piece, shim and glue them in place. It took him almost an entire day to do, which he did without additional charge. He was extremely gracious about it and wanted it to look perfect, which it does. Larry also straightened out our basketball pole and replaced the piston to raise and lower the hoop. The piston was rusted in placed and took hours longer than he anticipated to fix. Again, he did this with no additional charge and with no complaints. With a new coat of paint, it looks like a new basketball hoop. We also had his team install new electrical plugs to divide the circuits for Christmas lighting and had minor interior electrical work performed. His electrician also replaced our front portch lights and all our motion lights. Power washing completed the job. All jobs performed were done extremely well. From my initial contact, Larry was in constant communication with us. He has actually become a friend of our family's. We'd recommend him in a heartbeat.

I am very pleased with the addition. Looking at the home you would never suspect this was an addition at all. The entire process from our initial meeting to complete dry in took about 30 days. His crew's were very knowledgable and punctual and I found Larry to be the most responsive General Contractor I have ever worked with. I would definitely use his company again. A PLUS!
Description of Work: I purchased an old home that needed allot of work and I added an addition which increased the size of the kitchen and master bedroom and added a master bathroom. Larry's company completed the addition to the dry-in stage. This was a difficult addition because of the roof line and because the foundation had to be matched to two different levels. They were able to save the original brick off one wall to use for the exterior of the front facing wall on the addition. They also moved several interior walls in order to move my laundry hookups inside which required water service and dryer gas and vent. They removed the original hardwood flooring in the new laundry area which will be used on the Master Bedroom addition. A/C-Heat had to be run to the new addition as well as water and electricity. His sheetrock crew was the fastest I have ever seen and very good. Anytime you take on a project this big there are always surprises and Larry was prompt in letting me know when there was a problem and giving me options for solutions and cost. If I had one suggestion it would be to educated yourself as to what a dry-in means to your contractor. Set out details as to what components are actually being covered in the plan, for example, closet rods for closets? door and window trim? Shower diverter...? Insulation (what kind)? AND BE PREPARED TO COMPROMISE...no job goes exactly as planned. This is one area where I feel Larry's personality is key to his success. He is patient and knows how to work a problem.

We had a persistent water leak in one of our bathrooms that we could not find. We engaged a couple of roofers, several home repairmen and paid for a Chimney company to find the leak with no success. I received very high estimates from these companies to replace the roof or rebuild/resurface the stucco chimney. Larry Posten, owner of Above All Roofing, quickly diagnosed the problem. The Chimney Cap needed to be replaced. The way the poorly built contractor cap was bolted to the chimney was flawed and after the type of hurricanes/storms that we had the last several years, it was destined to leak. Larry had to (twice) reschedule the work due to bad weather and other work engagements; however, he always kept us informed of scheduling issues. Once he was able to do the work, Larry efficiently execute the job. His crew was very polite and professional. Larry personally checked the work to make sure that the leak was fixed.

Sincere appreciation and thanks to Above All Roofing for a job well done and then some ...!!! We contacted several companies to get quotes ? the prompt response we got from "Above All Roofing" company, coupled with the reasonable price and the fact that Larry (the owner) accompanies his crew and performs the work with them, helped us make the decision to go with them. They arrived on time? performed the work in professional and cordial manner? Additionally, Larry checked the roof for any other damage, found and fixed some loose shingles, replaced 2 additional boots, fixed a small leak above the garage and spray painted all the vent pipes to match the roof colour with no additional charges and they also cleaned all the debris. We have been re-modelling our home over the last 5 years and this is the first time that we found a trustworthy and decent contractor who went beyond ... something that is extremely hard to find these days! We have already highly recommended them to our friends and neighbours. They are now our goto for anything roofing ... infact we are about to do more with them again!

I thought it had gone well and wrote a good critique. Then, when next rain came, we still had leak. Called him and he came right out....did some work without charge. Said we needed a new roof (which we did) and gave me an estimate. We went out of town for two weeks...when we came back, found that we still had a leak. Got two bids on new roof from very reputable roofers....Larry's bid was $5000 more than theirs. So...he didn't fix leak and his price was way out of line. Obviously, my opinion on his work has changed.
Description of Work: Had a leak in our bathroom. Larry said wood was rotted in attic and needed replacing. He came out (promptly) and replaced some wood and shingles.....said that it was a lot more work than expected, but wouldn't charge me any more.

I contacted Above All Roofing via email on Sunday afternoon. Larry Posten called Sunday evening and we set up an appointment for Monday afternoon. Larry showed up Monday around 3pm, inspected the roof and at 4pm handed me a detailed written estimate for a complete rip off, re-roof with ridge vents, new power ventilators, and a number of other items. The estimate for the work was reasonable for the size and steepness of the roof, with no hidden costs or extras, and I was told it would take about one and a half days. I called Larry back around 6pm to discuss a few additions to the estimate as well as timing to do the work immediately, as the weather forecast was clear and dry for the next two days, and I was planning on working from home as well. Larry contacted his suppliers to ensure availability of materials, and returned to our home with an updated written estimate to reflect the agreed upon changes. I signed the agreement and provided a check for 50% of the total cost. The crew arrived around 7am Tuesday morning, and the materials arrived around 9-10am. The foreman rang the doorbell to let me know they were there and introduce the crew to me, all very professionally. They worked very efficiently as a team, took a short break for lunch, then continued working and cleaned up all the debris (old roof and new roofing materials) until they left for the day around 6pm. I was surprised how clean the left the property half way through the job. Except for the pallet of materials and debris trailer in the driveway, you would not know there was a construction project ongoing at our home. The crew returned Wednesday morning around 7am, and again let me know they had arrived. They continued to rip off the remaining old roof, install the new roof, and clean up debris as they worked. If they had any questions regarding placement of powered ventilators or other details, the foreman would call me outside to have a look and get my input, which I greatly appreciated. They replaced one piece of decking which had rotted due to water damage. The foreman showed me where the piece had come from and the reason for the water damage. Identifying the location of reason for this leak was great, as it was a very tiny leak which had done a small amount of damage to the ceiling in the upstairs family room which I had repaired twice in the past 10 years, but could never find the cause of the leak. Now I can repair the ceiling knowing that the leak is gone. They finished the roof and did a thorough job cleaning the gutters, walking the yard and flower beds with magnets to pick up nails, and even used a power blower to clean away all the granules on the walkways and driveway. Larry stopped by when the work was completed to review the job with me, at which time I happily provided a check to pay for the remainder of the contracted price. The only glitch in the entire job was rather inconsequential and had to do with the rented debris trailer, which was supposed to be hauled away Wednesday afternoon, but the truck being sent by the rental company to pick it up broke down and never arrived on Wednesday. A truck showed up Thursday morning around 10am and hauled the debris trailer away. As the trailer was in the driveway, it was out of site from the street, and had no impact on the quality of the overall job. The foreman kept in touch with me until the trailer was picked up and was sincerely apologetic for this deviation from plan. Overall, Above All Roofing did an excellent job on the total roof replacement. The new roof looks great. They worked as a team, were efficient, professional and courteous, and requested my input on decisions as necessary. GIven the size and steepness of the roof on our two story home and the large garage, the overall cost for labor and materials was very much in line with my expectations as well as other bids. They completed the job in less than two days as planned, and left the property clean and free of debris and nails. A number of neighbors commented on the cleanliness of job (nothing flying down the yards or street in the windy weather we were having). It rained Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so the new roof got a good washing. I was glad that the job was done in the time planned, within the good weather forecast, and am happy to report no leaks and positive comments from neighbors on the look of the new roof.
Description of Work: The roof on our home was original, 18 years old, and in need of replacement. We are planning on doing landscaping, and we wanted to do the roof first, so we were ready to do a new roof immediately.

I had a GREAT Experience with All Above Roofing! I just moved into a house in Greatwood which was built in 2007. The home inspection called attention to the satellite installed on the roof and the report indicated that it was not installed correctly. Well - after the 8+ inches of rain in early July - he was right! Not only did that area leak - a second vent leaked as well. I called Larry on a Monday and left a message. He called back the same day and we set an appointment for Friday (due to my work schedule). But - it poured again on Monday and the second leak showed up. I called Larry back and asked him to meet me as soon as his schedule allowed. He met me on Wednesay at 6:45 PM (the joys of owning your own business!). He did the inspection and provided a quote to fix two vents. However - he then asked several times to confirm which vents were leaking. Unsure of myself, we went into the attic and he said that the one vent that I thought was leaking was not and it was the vent behind it. The one that was actually leaking required a new boot - something not in the quote he had already given me. But - Larry decided to include the additonal boot at no change to the quote. The roof was fixed the NEXT DAY! I know that he is very busy with many jobs and my repair job was a small one in his workload, but he treated it like it was a complete roofing job. THANKS for a job well done.

I called Larry during the week of torrential rain when I noticed my ceiling had water damage and there was some dripping. He came out the next day (I think) and gave me an estimate. When he came out to fix my roof, it took him and his team only an hour, maybe two (it seemed really short to me) to finish the job. These guys are efficient! We've had several rain storms since then, and there hasn't been any more dripping from my ceiling, and the water damage seems to be contained. I was very happy with thee efficiency, professionalism, and how well they cleaned up afterward.

Larry came out and looked over the inspector's report, then went up on the roof to assess the situation. He gave us an estimate far below the buyer's estimate, and came out two days later to do the repairs. He did an excellent job, and we are very happy with the results. Now we know who to call for all of our future roofing needs!
Description of Work: We had a list of minor roofing repairs as a result of a potential buyer's inspection report, which had been estimated by the buyer (a builder himself) at $2300. The list involved nailing down some flashing and shingles which had popped up in several places, properly sealing the breezeway/garage soffitt and repainting, and replacing some shingles on the garage. We contacted Larry at Above All to get an estimate, and then asked him to do the repairs.

I had noticed a leak in my downstairs bathroom - that only happened when it rained. Since we had such a rainy spring, I got to notice it quite frequently. Called a couple of roofers, but they were slow to respond. Larry managed to work his schedule into mine (he was busy and I wasn't home much), gave me a quote...and stuck to it, in spite of finding some other damage that he repaired at no extra charge. Very professional, very friendly and did excellent work. Also cleaned up like they'd never been here. Planning on having them back to repair the interior damage.

Would recommend this company...excellent work and owner cares for customer satisfaction of the job done.
Description of Work: Replaced roof with HD shingles and polarium radiant barrier underneath the shingles to reduce heat entering the home for improved energy efficiency....work was done very efficiently, with better materials to provide a roof that is resistant to high winds via starter strips and hand nailed 6 to a strip along with metal in valleys, eaves stripping, etc. High quality job....owner is there pretty much from start to finish and follows up with good cleanup and disposal of old materials. Crew was excellent and very efficient....they work a piece of the roof at a time to insure you are not caught if rain suddenly materializes which was in my case. Never had to worry about any leakage and had things buttoned down when rain started towards the end of the day and finished other parts when rain passed the following day. Guarantees roof for 10 years against any leakage.

It was a great experience and I highly recommend Above All Roofing! I met with the owner of Above All, Larry Posten, and my homeowner's insurance adjuster at the same time, immediately after the hail storm. The adjuster determined that the whole roof needed to be replaced. He asked Larry to obtain an EagleView report and within a week or so I had the insurer's estimate of damages. Larry stated right from the start that he would do the job for whatever the insurance company came up with...and he was as good as his word. I then asked Larry to educate me on what makes a great roof, whether I should get impact resistant shingles or not (it would cost an extra $3K, is not covered by insurance, and usually isn't done in this area), if he or his workmen have ever had an accident on a roof (No), what kind of PPE they wear and how the safety harnesses work, and what insurance he has. After learning as much as I could, I then got 3 more estimates, after which I was satisfied that Above All Roofing would install a great roof in a safe and efficient manner. They did! Materials were dropped off when Larry said they would, they were placed where I wanted; his men worked well, safely, and seemed to enjoy their work and comraderie; hand-nailing insured a good job (I was worried that 6 nails per shingle, rather than the usual 3-4, would be too tiring, but that didn't seem to be the case); the job was completed in 2 days, but was not rushed; cleanup was excellent. One thing we were worried about was the noise and its effect on the household and dogs. It turned out not to be an issue...perhaps partly because of the hand-nailing rather than the oft-used nail-gun. The whole job went smoothly and Larry was very responsive to my myriad of questions by email, phone, and in person. He was on-site, with his working foreman (of many years), throughout the job. Above All does general construction work as well, so I will be sure to use them in the future.
Description of Work: My 7 year old, 5500 sq. ft. fiberglass shingle, composition roof was replaced after a hail storm. Above All Roofing gave me a significantly better roof than I had previously. It should now be able to withstand 130 mph winds. Here are the specs: 1. remove existing composition roof, replace 1/2" CDX plywood decking as needed. Utilize 2 x 4's and 4 x 8 sheets of plywood to protect flower beds from falling debris. 2. Install 20" wide galvanized metal in valleys. 3. Install heavy duty, 30# felt paper throughout. 4. Install 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" eave stripping. 5. Install 240#, lifetime, fiberglass, high definition, GAF Elk shingles with AlgaeGuard, using a ridge row and starter strips on all edges. Hand Nail with 6 nails per shingle. This and the starter strips make it able to withstand up to 130 mph winds. 6. Install new galvanized step flashing at roofline underneath existing siding and against brick veneer. 7. Install new galvanized single wall & lead roof vent jacks. 8. Install ridge vents at all ridges, running them to all edges. 9. Clean up and haul away to a recycling center all waste and debris. Run a large magnet across lawn and flower beds. 10. All workmen will be roped off and harnessed when working on steep portions of the roof. 11. All labor and workmanship carries a 10-year guarantee from leakage.

Mr. Posten was extreemely helpful and professional. At first I called just about a leak that had formed around an air vent. He examined the roof and said there was actually considerable hail damage. Numerous homes in our area had suffered from hail damage, but our insurance adjuster had, at first, said our roof was okay. Mr. Posten met him again at our house and they reviewed the roof together as well as the interior leak. The adjuster revised his opinion and signed off for us to receive a new roof as well as the roof repair. The cost for the exterior work was right in line with the adjuster's estimate and the interior work was less expensive. Mr. Posten's crews (both exterior and interior) arrived exactly when he said they would, did the job in an efficient manner and cleaned up after themselves (including hauling away a satellite dish I no longer wanted). The new roof looks great and the interior is as good as new. I would happily reccomend him for future work or use his company again if I needed construction or roofing work.
Description of Work: The damaged roof was completely replaced. Old shingles etc removed, & carried away. New fiberglss H.D. shingles, ridge vents, & air hawks were installed. An interior leak was repaired and the ceiling texture matched and repainted.

Mr. Posten showed up on time on a date we had scheduled for my convenience. He gave a very quick estimate after inspecting the roof. The repairs were performed three days later without the need for me to take off any more time for work. Mr. Posten repaired a few additional areas that were not noted in the initial inspection. These repairs were done without charging above the initial quoted repair cost.

This repair resulted from a hailstorm that occurred in early January. In late January we had the insurance adjuster come out; he advised that we needed a complete roof replacement and provided us with a detailed estimate. Based on favorable reviews we contacted Larry Posten, owner of Above All Roofing and Construction, who came out, reviewed the insurance estimate, and agreed to provide the estimated roof replacement for the estimated cost, and also to provide some additional services free of charge such as extending the ridge vents all along the house ridge lines to provide additional attic venting. We scheduled the replacement to begin at a mutually acceptable time, but the afternoon when materials were supposed to have been delivered, we were advised by our homeowners' association that we would have to secure their approval prior to beginning work. This resulted in a sudden cancellation of the material order and an evental postponement of the actual for a period of about two weeks. Throughout this period, Larry was extremely cooperative and helpful. The crew that showed up was the single crew and foreman that Larry uses for all his roofing work; the work was completed in a single day, including clean-up (extending from the afternoon of one day to the afternoon of the next). The crew was efficient and as quiet as they could be considering the lifting, roof-walking, and nailing that had to be carried out. After the crew cleaned up and left, Larry came by himself and went over the entire yard with a magnetic sweep, picking up about five pounds of roofing nails that otherwise would have been left in the yard. Overall the experience was completely satisfactory and we are very happy with the results; the roof looks better than it did before the hailstorm and we are confident that it was a job well done.
Description of Work: Contractor removed and replaced one layer of composition roofing, installed 20" wide galvanized metal in valleys, installed heavy duty #30 felt paper base over plywood decking, installed 1/2" x 1-1/2" eave stripping, installed 240lb., lifetime fibergalss HD shingles over felt, using 220 lb starter and ridge row; all hand nailed, installed new galvanized step flashing at roofline underneath existing siding or against brick veneer, installed all new galvanized single wall & lead foof vent jacks. Installed complete ridge vents along all ridge lines. Performed cleanup and hauling of all waste products including complete magnetic pick-up of leftover roofing nails from yard.

We are now considering what to do and when to get it done. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs roof repairs in Houston area.
Description of Work: Requested an evaluation of the condition of our 10 year-old roof and ,if necessary, an estimate of costs for any required work. Larry came himself and spent a short period on the roof to determine that there was limnited damage and only a limited requirement for immediate repairs (estimated at approx. $1500.00). He made other recommendations on what needs to be done when the roof shingles are going to be replaced (sometime in the next year).... He also gave us a rough estimate of the cost of such repairs when the time comes (approx. $14,000.00). Larry took his time to explain things to us, in clear language. He advised that there was no need to immediate replacement of the entire roof. His honesty and attention to detail & professionalism were refreshing to say the least.

I worked directly with Larry from start to finish. He was always prompt and responsive. He listened well and offered helpful information. I was especially impressed with the skill of Larry's crew. They never failed to arrive promptly, and work efficiently. Since we were in the middle of a kitchen remodeling project, the family used the apartment kitchen as the main kitchen. This put the breezeway area into high use each evening. Juan and his assistant took the time to clean their large work area each evening so that we could continue moving from the house to the apartment. The project was finished on time, within the agreed amount. We are very pleased with the result and will call Larry again when the need arises.
Description of Work: Above All Construction designed and built a large breezeway between a garage (with garage apartment added on), and the main house. Both structures are single-story. The house and garage were built in 1952, and a ground-floor garage apartment was added in 1975. The 1975 garage apartment addition created a roof line inconsistent with the classic ranch style of the home. The new roof matches the lines and angles of the existing roof so that the completed portion looks original. Original construction was expertly matched.

We called Larry Posten of Above All Roofing after reading about his company on AngiesList. He scheduled a visit at our convenience and called before he came. He performed an evaluation of our roof, described what he recommended, answered our questions, and wrote out a proposal. He listed what seemed a fair price to us for the amount of work proposed. He was able to come back later the same day to get the repairs done. After removing the shingles around the chimney, he discovered some rotten wood and replaced it after checking with us. We expected to pay an additional amount for his extra work but he stuck with his original price. We think Larry is a competent, friendly, and trustable person, and a hard worker. We highly recommend him. He also does sheetrock work and painting, and we plan to ask him back to do that sort of work in the near future. I feel confident that he will do an excellent job in those areas as well.
Description of Work: Larry Posten of Above All Roofing repaired several areas of our roof. For the leaking areas around our chimney he removed the old shingles, replaced the rotten wood where the leak was, installed Ice and Water Shield, installed step flashing, and installed new shingles. He also replaced the shingles in a separate damaged area of the roof, and sealed three vents.

I was pleased that he did not try to sell me a new unneeded roof.
Description of Work: Above All Roofing came on the day I called. Larry examined my roof and determined no damage to it from the recent hail storm. He was honest which I appreciated.

I don't know that I have ever been able to say dealing with contractors has been pleasant but NOW I can make that statement. Larry and his subs were very enjoyable to deal with. They are honest and reliable. They were very responsive and reasonably priced on change orders as we progressed. All of them were professional, their work was excellent, they were timely on their completion schedule and the contract was priced below two of their competitors. I would highly recommend Above All Roofing and Construction to anyone and in fact my mother in law now plans to use them for remodel work on her house. I will definitely use them again if I have any future needs. It is very difficult to complete a constrution project without a complaint but we have none. It was a good experience with excellent results. For anyone reading this report I have no ties or relationship to Larry or Above All Roofing and Construction and never meet him until he came out to bid on the project.
Description of Work: We had them do remodel work consisting of interior painting, custom cabinet work, completely build from scratch a new master closet, remodel bathrooms with tile and granite as well as plumbing work, do electrical wiring and install lighting fixtures and much overall handyman work.
