I tried calling them and I didn't hear back from them. There is a section that I want them to come check it out. I think it's the terrain and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. I didn't pursue it. There is the possibility that I'm calling the wrong number, and it is really hard to get in touch with anybody. I think that they should call me back and tell me that it wouldn't be worth it. I don't have a salesperson anymore to contact. The problem is, there is no office person to get a hold of.

They did a good job and they sent me pictures. The fence looked good and the price wasn't cheap. It well all done well. I just think there is a lot of transition in the industry. I called the representative and he was gone and the other guy was gone and I finally got this other fellow and he seemed pretty on top of things and he was my sales person. He did a good job and he was very responsive. They did everything top notch and they used good materials. If you want good quality work you can use them.

When we built our new house 10 years ago we had Houston Fence Co build our new fence. We were very happy with our fence until several months ago when the gate post rotted and literally broke off at the base and fell over. I immediately called Houston Fence since they had installed the rotted post and I figured we would have them install a new one. Walter came out to our house to look at the issue and give us an estimate on a repair. First thing he said was, "That shouldn't have happened...." And he led us to believe that possibly the post wasn't "treated" wood as it should have been. He said the repair would only run a couple of hundred dollars but they had a $1,200 minimum. So he said they would tack us on to another job in the area when one came up. He said it might be a couple of weeks, and I said that was fine. He followed up with an email the next day saying he would let me know when another job came up. I didn't hear anything from him for 5 or 6 weeks so I emailed him on July 27. I never got a reply to my email so I called the company on July 31. I asked for the owner and was told he was not available. I explained the situation to the woman that answered the phone and she said I should talk to the Sales Manager. So she put me on hold for several minutes. When she came back she said she had explained the situation to the Sales Manager and he was going to talk to Walter and call me back within 10 minutes. He never called me back. So, I never got a reply to my email. I never got a call back as promised. And my gate is still not functional.

We had originally wanted natural finish on the gates. After installation, we decided we wanted the gates painted. They returned and painted the gates for a less expensive price than expected. One bonus to using Houston Fence is that they are completely covered by Worker's Comp insurances which is required by our Home Owner's Association. It is difficult to find companies that meet all the HOA requirements.

They were not the cheapest bid, but they also weren't the most expensive. What made me choose them was their long history in Houston. I wanted someone with some experience. The quote process went smoothly. My contact (Roman) understood what I wanted in a fence, and had several pictures to show me a representation of what would be installed. He had to come out twice, as I changed the scope of construction after the first quote. The fence is very well constructed. There's no wobble or lean, and the yard has a very pleasant cedar smell now. My one complaint is that the gate they constructed seemed a bit rough in comparison to the quality of the fence. The locking mechanism is secure, and the gate is level and swings freely. However, the wood was very rough and unfinished, and there's a "block" instead of an actual handle for pulling the gate closed. A minor inconvenience, considering the cost.

The workers tore down our old wood fence and build a new one. They did all the work in one day including cleaning up. They improved the strength of the fence to improve its durability.

It worked out very well. I feel very safe on it. I had trouble with some of the tickets and I called them, told them that I have concerns so they marked them and said they will be out to replaced them and that exactly what happened.

They did just fine and their price is reasonable.

They've done work for us twice and both were fine. They are not the least expensive and surely not the most but they've done best work we've seen so far. They were great.

David gave us a rough estimate over the phone based on our measurements and then came out and inspected the job site. There were some overgrown bushes in the fence and offered to include taking those out as part of our contract so the final price was just slightly higher, only because of that. He worked with us to get the building permit from Spring Valley providing the necessary documentation and talking with the building inspector. Our old fence was not on the correct property line but we had a copy of the survey from our new neighbors and David and the inspector verified where the fence should be. David contacted us a few days before the crew arrived so we could make arrangements for our dog to be inside (the reason we needed a tall wooden fence). The crew arrived on the day scheduled, took out the old fence, prepared the new site and got to work. They worked steadily through the day, did not leave any gaps under the fence for our dog to get out, cleaned up and took all the debris. The fence looks really nice and I am confident that it is really well built and, based on our other neighbor's fence built by Houston Fence twenty years ago, will last a long time. Will definitely recommend to others.

We had a lot of issues. #1, salesman quoted incorrect installation date. #2 salesman lost job, then new salesman had no clue what was going on. #3 customer service rep, Missy was amazing #4, now find out that they didn't clean up after themselves and there are gaps in the fence #5, trying to reach Missy, but now she is gone. #6, still trying to get fence completed properly and the mess cleaned up.

I chose the company because they offered the best price. David Lisner was the salesman who we communicated with. They were easy to work with, responded and communicated well. They did good work and we pleased with them.

Our neighbors had hired them and they were recommended to us by them. The work turned out well.

It worked out all right. The salesman was very nice and I liked him a lot. He was very attentive and good. We were having other work done to our driveway and it was in the middle of the winter and holidays. It ended up taking them three months to complete the work. When the installed the posts into the driveway, they were too far off the ground. My landscaper had to dig down the sides and they then reinstalled the posts. I was a little aggravated because they did draw the payment from my credit card before the work was finished. One gate did not latch properly and they did come out without any trouble and repair it. After everything was completed, I am pleased with the job.

Tim Reed was the salesman that I dealt closely with. They did a good job. Their cost was less than the other estimates that I received. They did exactly what they said they would do and completed the work on time.

It took about a week for Houston Fence to call back. But i called four other companies also and only one other company returned my call. Houston Fence was the only company that actually came to my house to look at the job and give me a written estimate. The other company wanted me to measure the fence that I wanted to replace and they would give me an estimate based on that.

The work was performed as promised and the finished job looks great.

Scheduling service and obtaining a good estimate on when they might arrive was a nightmare. After probably 5 or 6 calls, I was told they would appear first thing the next morning, around 9 am. Since I was taking off work, I started calling around 9:30 to find out when they might show up. They promised to return my calls and give me specific information. That never happened that morning. Finally someone showed up as I was leaving for work, around 11:15. The technician was knowledgeable and friendly, in direct contrast to their office. For my purposes, it was too little too late.

The installation went well and we had no surprises.

I actually had them out twice - once in August to repair work another company had botched, and again in October when we had another problem. In August, they replaced the circuit board, which had a 1 year warranty. When the gate starting acting up again, they came out on a warranty call. It took them awhile to figure out the problem, but in the end, the arm for the gate opener needed replacing, and the problem with it had caused the board to blow out. The board was re-replaced for free (warranty), and the arm was taken care of.

I called this company who had installed the gate and arm a few years ago and did a good job. The gate started beeping 3 times on opening and closing and I called to ask them what that meant. The person in that department said she didn't know and set me up for a service. She said the price was $205. for the first hour plus 90 per hour after that. After I looked in the manual, it said the 3 beeps mean I needed a new battery. I feel $205. per hour fee plus the charge for the battery was too expensive for something that would only take 5-10 minutes. When I asked her why it was so expensive, she said and quot;do you want the service or notand quot;? They couldn't come out for a week anyway. We went to Radio Shack and bought our own battery and paid an electrician a much lesser fee. I feel they were deceptive in saying they didn't know what was causing the beeps, and their service charge is outrageous. Just a couple of years ago the fee was $90. which is reasonable.

Greg with Houston Fence came out very quickly, promising multiple quotes. We never heard from him again until weeks later, yet again promising multiple quotes. To date, we never received any quote whatsoever.

They were very attentive and helpful through the process. They have great follow up, and very good quality.

It's been almost a year since the first installation. Our gates are still not operatable. We will never use Houston Fence Company for an other service!!!!

The fence was installed in mid-May of 2010 as a replacement for the one that blew over during Hurricane Ike. I first reported the problem of the fence falling down 9 months later when it started to lean. It took me nearly two weeks to get someone to call me back. Finally in April, a Houston fence representative said they would come out and look at it. He called me back and said he had to talk to his boss about getting it fixed. They agreed to fix it, for $500 more. Shortly after that conversation, which I rejected, I came home one afternoon to find the fence I paid $2,000 for less than a year earlier, in the exact same state it was in after Ike. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau that they agreed to come fix it. They said they don’t warranty their work. And for the record I ended up NOT having them come out and fix it at all. I spent more than $500 with someone else to get it done right. It was worth the extra money to never have to deal with them again. I never should have called Houston Fence in the first place, and I tell EVERYONE I come in contact with to not use them either. All they had to do was the right thing.
