American Mighty Movers helped us in our move from Houston, TX to Oklahoma CIty, OK. We payed somebody else to move boxes once we found out how much they were going to charge, and then we made an arrangement for American Mighty Movers to move just the furniture and a few other things. They came out loaded the truck, we were told it would take about week or so for the truck to arrive. We got a call from the manager and he told us they weighed the truck and the weight of the furniture was more than expected. The original cost of the move was around $1500, due to the weight the new cost would be $3500. We were told we needed to bring a cashier check for $2000 or they would have to put our belongings into storage and charge us storage fees. My husband was fighting cancer, and was not in shape to fight and argue with the manager so we paid the additional charge. They told us they had another job that was being delivered to Oklahoma so they would bring ours the same time. We were getting ready to have cancer surgery and we could not accept delivery on a particular day. Of course, we got a call the morning of surgery, stating they would be there within an hour. Luckily our daughter and her husband were able to meet the truck driver for us. The truck driver arrived with no help, he did not have a ramp to unload the furniture so he pretty much going to drop it off the back of the truck. Luckily my son in law was able to assist the driver and get the things off the truck. They even charged my daughter for some additional fee but we are not sure what the charge was for. The truck also had some other peoples furniture on it after we removed our stuff. It was a God Send that our daughter and son in law were there to help becuase we hate to think how bad this could have turned out if they were not there. There were a lot scratches, dings, and minor damages but luckily my son in law was there or it probably would have been worse. Our old neighbors were looking to move and the company even contacted them to place a bid and the nighbors let American Mighty Movers know they were fully aware of our expereince and were not interested in their service. We were very unhappy wish we would have had Angies List then to use to hire a better company. Angies List was well worth the small membershiup fee to help us find good companies to use.
