Arrived on time, Workers worked had and were courteous, Quality of workmanship was great, Work space was clean each day, and Quote and end price were spot on.
Description of Work: I had Karlo Come and carefully remove brick around and inbetween two small window so I could have a new larger window installed. Once the window was installed I had Karlo back to reinstall around the window and fix two cracks along the wall. Karlo arrived on time and performed the work as agreed. I would definitely recommend Karlo for any brick work you are looking to do.

We choose to contact Karlo at Polomo Masonry because of the positive numbers of reports they had received on Angieslist. We called Karlo & left a message explaining the repairs we needed. He was VERY prompt in returning my call, at that time he said he'd be in our area the next day & would stop by to look at the repairs & give us an estimate. He called the next day when he was 15-20 minutes away from our house. We showed him the repairs and within 10 minutes of him leaving our house we had a detailed estimate emailed to us. His estimate was very reasonable, so we called him back to schedule the repair work. He said he could have someone out the next day to do the work. He called the next day leaving us a voice mail with the approximate time they would be here to start the job. They were on time, got right to work and did a very nice job on the repairs. Karlo called us during the repair to see how it was going & to say that he would email us the final invoice & that we could give the repair people the check or we could mail it to him or use paypal. The whole process from start to finish was painless. Karlo was very prompt, professional & personable. It was a pleasure to do business with him!!!
Description of Work: We had several repairs that needed to be done. We had an outdoor faucet fail. The plumber had to remove exterior bricks to replace the faucet, we needed new bricks around the faucet. We also had some cracks in the exterior mortar because of foundation movement that needed to be re-pointed. Along with some chimney re-pointing when the old flashing was replaced with new.

owner responded quickly to all phone calls. first to quote out of the 3 we contacted. quick to begin and finish job. owner address my husband's concern that not enought mortar was replaced and agreed. had his guys jump right on that, plus added a little discount to his orginal estimate. owner also very knowledge and suggested we add a 'cricket' to our roof to prevent that problem from ever happening again. our chimney is about about six feet wide and on a back wall. the rain washing down since 1983 had eroded the mortar. thus our need for a cricket.
Description of Work: chimney masonry washed out and cracked due to time and design. they chiseled out mortar and repaired. also added a sealant.

I would recommend Palomo Masonry to my family and friends. Cost and repairs meet or exceeded my expectations. The crew was there when I was told. It took 2 days and cost was as estimated. They cleaned up when done. Called Karlo about payment and he wanted to make sure I was pleased with the work before payment made. If i had thought of taking pictures to show the before and after i would have posted. Great Job Karlo!!! Service and workmanship like this is hard to find!
Description of Work: Mortar above porch entry cracking. Contacted Karlo by email of existing problem. I recieved an email back within 2 hours with a written estimate on materials and labor costs. I contacted Karlo by phone which he explained the existing arch was not steep enough to support the weight of the stone causing the mortar to crack. He explain how much the arch needed to be raised and it would take 2 days to complete.

I called Karlo to give me a bid on the work and he was able to come out the same day. Approx. 2 hours later he e-mailed me a bid for this specific job and 2 others I wanted to do later. His bid was reasonable and I accepted. His crew was out approx. 10 days later and completed to job. The quality of the work was very good and he was able to come very close in matching the brick to the rest of the house. I knew it would not be a perfect match as they stopped making this particular brick many years ago. I don't think people will be able to tell the difference. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Owner Karlo Palomo was very prompt with a phone call responding to my request for an estimate through Angie's List. I gave him the rundown on the type of work that needed to be done. He was out the next day to look at the job. He noticed a few additional cracks (that I never noticed) in the masonry in other parts of the house. A reasonable estimate was provided by email later that same day. After calling Karlo to further discuss his procedure, I gave him the go to do the job. He said he was very busy after the horrible drought in the North Texas area so it might be about two weeks before he could do the job. However, he contacted me about a week later and said he had a client postpone and could be out the following day. His crew arrived an hour later than expected but they got right to work. By the time I got back from the gym later that morning, they had completed the job and cleaned everything up. They did an exceptional job of matching the mortar color and making sure it didn't look like a repair. They accept PayPal which made payment super easy! Palomo Masonry was extremely professional and provided excellent work for a reasonable price. I would use them again in the future.

While I was at work, Karlo's crew came to the house and completed the repair. He cut out the old mortar and the broken bricks and put in new mortar and bricks where needed. Fortunately I had some leftover brick from the original construction of the house, which Karlo used. He telephoned me from the house when he finished, and he emailed me the invoice. When I got home from work that evening, I took a look at the work. Everything looked great. You cannot tell that the crack and broken brick had ever been in the wall. He left no mess. I mailed him a check for the work, and I couldn't be happier with the repair.
Description of Work: I needed a mason to fix a crack in a brick wall in the patio of my house, and it required not only replacing cracked bricks but also replacing mortar around the bricks that had not broken. I searched for a mason on Angie's List and telephoned Palomo Masonry. Karlo said he was busy on a project, but he said he'd stop by my house while I was at work and call me with an estimate to repair the problem. He called me after a couple of days with an estimate, which he emailed to me. He also said that I wouldn't need to be at my home while his crew did the repair since it didn't require that he come inside my house.

The job went off a smooth as anything could. Wish every experience in life could go as well as this one did.
Description of Work: I texted a picture of the crack we had in our Austin stone with a phone number and a brief description of our problem. He responded immediately. He came over in a matter of hours. He not only fixed where the stone had come loose but also showed us where it was about to happen in 2 other places. The job was done thoroughly and he and his crew cleaned up after themselves. His estimate was good and the final price was not much more ,because of the 2 other cracks we did not negotiate for original . Karol is a very nice person to deal with and I would recommended him to my family and friends.

Of all my renovations this year (quite a few) this has turned out the best. The fireplace facade is incredible and a focal point of the whole house. To get there, Karlo was one of the first persons to give me a quote - but he had to wait almost 2 months to do the job. In between he took many calls from me to coordinate spacing issues for a custom mantel, my indecision on the width of the hearth and was always great about taking my call and giving me prompt feedback. We had a little rescheduling due to an illness (his part), but he had the whole project done within a couple of days of the original date. It should also be noted that he had to wait for me to finish many projects before I could get to him - (so he was very flexible with me). In the end, the product is great. One thing that I found to be particularly noteworthy is that when I noticed a few small gauges on the hearthstone (not their fault), Karlo volunteered to send another team out the next day to buff it out. They came the next morning, made it even better than before, and then I received a follow up call from Karlo to make sure I was happy. You should also know that I paid him the first day (before the buffing) and he made sure I was happy with the hearth. Highly recommended.

Karlo Palomo was right on time when he came to assess the project and generate the estimate for how much it would cost to do this repair. Within two days I had the estimate, compared it to the other estimates I had gotten, called up Karlo and awarded him the project. The other estimates came from the Brick Doctor and another company. Palomo Masonry was 1/4th the price of Brick Doctor if you can believe that! Palomo's estimate was 20% more than the third estimate however Palomo Masonry had 14 outstanding recent reviews on Angies List so I went with Palomo Masonry and I am glad I did. Karlo frequently communicated with me, kept me informed about when him and his team would start, how long it would take, and what I could expect before, during, and after the project. The project took less time than estimated - only 2 days. Karlo and his team did a very, very nice job! The site was cleaned up to my satisfaction, the garage wall looks absolutely great, and the cracks in the front of the house are gone and you cannot even tell it has been repaired. Karlo and his team did a great job and I would hire them again no questions asked. Great job Karlo!!!
Description of Work: Just after my house was built the bricks and mortar above my 2-car garage door developed a large crack that had gotten worse over time. The city sent a certified letter letting me know that I needed to get this repaired. The crack was 1/2 inch at the base and went up the wall and across to the other side of the garage. Palomo Masonry was asked to take down the brick wall to just above the crack, replace the metal brick support beam that goes across the bottom of the garage, and brick the wall back up with matching mortar. In addition to the garage wall repair, Palomo Masonry was also asked to repair a small mortar crack that extended all the way up the entry way in front of the house on both sides of the door. This includes repairing a large crack in the bottom of the arch under the keystone above the entry way.

We own an older home where due to age and errosion over time from weather and sprinklers there were areas where the mortar had erroded. When I contacted Paloma Masonry Karlo instantly took the call arranged to meet me for the estimate that met my schedule. I had the quote the same day! He was always so responsive to my questions. The team was prompt, worked hard, and completed on time. I was so impressed with the professionalism of Karlo and the work performed by his team. I would recommend this company to anyone!

From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. I contacted Karlo via Angie's List email at approximately 2:00 on Monday. He called me back at 4:00 pm to set up a time to come over and give me an estimate. It turned out that my house was on almost a direct line from the job he was wrapping up and his home, so he asked if it was okay to stop by and look things over that afternoon. By 6:00 that evening, Karlo had come by the house to size up the job, answered some questions that I had, and emailed me a written estimate specifying the work to be done. The following afternoon, I replied back to his email that the estimate looked good and asked him to call me so that we could set a date to perform the work. Once again, within just a couple of hours, I heard back from Karlo. He had a last minute cancellation and was able to start the job the following day! Needless to say, I was thrilled and readily agreed. As promised, Wednesday morning at 9:00 am, Karlo and his team arrived and went straight to work. As he explained in our initial meeting, the plan was to remove a sizable section of the older, broken brick and mortar, replace it with new, buttress the arch overnight to support it while the mortar set, then return the next day to remove the buttressing. Other than a brief lunch break around noon, they worked diligently all day and by about 4:30 they were done with part 1 as scheduled. Again, right on time the next morning, his crew showed up to remove the supports and do final clean-up. By 11:00 am Thursday, the job was 100% complete. To give a bit more context, Karlo was not the only contractor that I had contacted (though he was the first and as yet only one that I have done so using Angie's List). From the time time I requested an estimate until the job was complete, less than 4 days had elapsed. When I contacted the company is this area most known for brick repair work, I had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment with an estimator, and their quote was just under $1500, almost twice what Karlo charged. I not only plan to recommend Karlo to friends, I already have and will gladly continue to do so.
Description of Work: After 15 years, the original masonry work over my front door started to give way. Thankfully, no one was near the front door when the keystone and several of the surrounding bricks came cashing down from the second story. The keystone itself was undamaged after landing on the welcome mat, and I had hundreds of matching bricks left over from a retaining wall. Materials were not a concern, what I required was a skilled brick mason.

Karlo worked with me to determine the repairs needed, quoted me (via PDF in an email) on additional work including dropping off sample stones (!) (which in the end I did not order due to the economy), scheduled the work to be done within an excellent time frame (3 biz days), showed up on time, managed the work/workers, invoiced via pdf immediately, and shared masonry tips for the upkeep of my stone. All excellent! The only possible 'negative' is because of an 'architectural view' oversight in the laying of one of the flag stones. I was not at home, so maybe it's MY fault. Karlo addressed the issue immediately when all is dry and blended it will probably NOT be an issue! The work also included gluing some questionable fissures in the stones and cleaning and sealing the wall, steps and patio stones. Karlo drove far and wide to find the best stone to match my 'lesser white' Austin stone. Finally, in the 'over and above' category, Karlo, from a last minute request, replaced two austin stone border stones on a neighbor's walkway. (This amount was included on my bill that I collected from my neighbor.) Once billed, Karlo dropped by the next day to pick up the payment. Then, the following day, he stopped by to drop off a sample of a lime stone cleaner that I could use on my stone mailbox if it discolored this summer. All excellent, again. I will call Karlo again and again for any masonry needs that I have and I will recommend him to anyone who asks! I intend to have him seal my stone repeatedly in the future. I found and contracted Karlo based on reviews from Angie's list solely. Thanks Angie!
Description of Work: I had many crumbling white Austin stone 'cubic stones' on the top layer and lower layers of a 5 foot retaining wall. Also, I needed two large flagstones replaced on my front patio. The work also included gluing some questionable fissures in the stones and cleaning and sealing the wall, steps and patio stones. Replaced two austin stone border stones on a neighbor's walkway. I was quoted on placing a 'flagstone cap' on top of my wall for water damage protection (my idea to ask for the quote).

I called three different masonry, and Karlo was very responsive and available on a short notice. We have a contractor re-doing the rock around the fireplace, and upon tearing down the original rock, found the original brick work inside the fireplace that needed repair. Our contractor was now on hold for the brick repair, and Karlo was very sensitive to this and moved quick for us so we could continue on the rest of the work sooner than later. The original quote was $250 for 2-3 hours worth of work. We scheduled him for Saturday morning, and on Wednesday afternoon he called me to see if we wanted to work done that evening starting at 6pm. This was a little late for our tenants who have kids, but we appreciated Karlo checking in on this. He was on time Saturday morning, and the job took one hour.

They did a good job, I'm very happy with what they did. Because of the foundation settling I had gaps that were allowing water to get in between the brick and membrane. They came out and cleaned it out. They redid all the cement stuff. After the foundation is fixed I'm going to have them come out and do more brick repair work for me. They did the work in just a few hours, I was surprised. They were on time, I work nights and my wife works days. They were here, did it and did it without waking me up. I thought it was a good job and I will use them again.

The front of my home looks so beautiful and pulled together after Palomo Masonry completed the project. Karlo was very good about informing me of all the steps that had to be taken - and helping me to take them. He was able to locate stone that matched the stone around my front windows perfectly. To actually complete the work, there was a LOT of coordination required. Karlo recommended a company (not on Angies list, but I'll be reporting on them soon) to do the removal of the old vinyl siding, and the framing, and roofing of the small new gable where the Austin stone was being installed. Karlo project managed everyone to ensure they showed up in the right order and that the quality of the work was excellent. I can't say enough good things about Paolomo Masonry and Karlo Palomo - he's a gifted artisan and an excellent businessman with respect for his craft and his customers. I learned a lot during this project and am delighted with the way it all turned out.
