I bought the deal for 2 hours of work at $150 because I was concerned that the non-functioning plug on the back porch could be a potential fire and was looking for a professional that would know more then myself. Brenden and Justin showed up in the time they stated and went straight to work. They were very courteous and professional the whole time and discussed what they were doing since I followed them around to see what they were doing to resolve the issue as I took this as a learning opportunity. It only took about 10min or so for them to see that a GFCI in our garage was wired to the plug on the back porch and it had been tripped and this was the cause of the plug not working. Yeah, silly me. After that, they went to the garage and installed the second plug to give more outlets as I requested. Justin was a trainee which did not bother me as we all have to start somewhere and learn. Fortunately, the 2 hours of work that was purchased was not significant though if there was some complicated electrical work that would have been requested I am not sure that it would have been completed in the allotted time requiring me to pay additional due to having a trainee considered as a second electrician. I will still use Veteran Electric in the future for their timeliness and professionalism. The reason I bring this up is because it was mentioned in the deal that was purchased and should be stated that a trainee would not count towards the allotted time for the deal.
Description of Work: Checked a plug that was not functioning on our back porch and installed another GFCI plug in our garage.

He was professional, courteous, and prompt. All the projects were completed successfully.
Description of Work: 2 hours of electrical work included a variety of minor projects, including replacing a GFI, trouble shooting some lights that weren't working and an outdoor fan that no longer worked. There were about 5 smaller projects in total, and it took less than the 2 hours we'd anticipated.

Showed up on time and looked at the service and breaker box. The explained exactly what they needed to do and the permit process along with the interaction with CenterPoint to cut off service and have it cut back on after the work was completed. They knew exactly what they were doing when it came to the work and installed a quality breaker box, breakers and service parts. The before and after was amazing and they were very neat and took pride in a job well done. Because of an error in CenterPoint's system, it took Centerpoint over 6 hours to come back onside and turn the power back on. Veteran electric stayed onsite and would not leave until the power was restored to my house. Real dedication to their customer that we hardly ever see these days. The following day, the city came to inspect the job. The job passed inspection and the inspector told me it was a job well done. I would recommend this company to anyone needing electrical work done. Their prices are very reasonable and the crew truly loves what they do for a living and that shows in their work.
Description of Work: Used coupon for breaker box replacement and added complete service replacement from the pole to the house bringing the entire service up to code.

Although I did not require their service this time-marked them as a favorite and will definitely use them in the future.

Electrician was a little late in arriving but the weather was bad so I don't want to be too harsh on the punctuality. The timeframe given was 12-3 and he showed up at 3:20. In the future I would ask that they call about 30 minutes prior to coming but this was an issue only because this is an empty condo we are getting ready to sell so the waiting was a bit tiresome. The electrician went about the work in an orderly manner, first checking the bulbs before moving on to actual electrical work thereby maximizing his time on the things that really needed to be repaired. All the work needed to get done was completed in the two hour timeframe and we were pleased. Felt like we received the full value of the big deal.

I should have got (or remembered) their names. JS and BS did a fantastic job installing a new kitchen light. They also installed a new ceiling fan for me. They were prompt, clean and courteous. They showed me how the remote works and explained the power switch. As we watched the fan spin all three of us noticed that it was out of balance. They fixed that and everything was perfect. It was nice to sit in the living room with the fan on and not hear constant squeaking noise! They cleaned up all the packaging and took the old fan out for me. Update: The fan install is not "perfect" it makes a constant knocking noise and when throwing away the packaging I found a lot of washers that should have gone on the blades with the screws. They did come back out to TRY to fix the noise problem. While the electrician was there, the fan made no noise. He did say they should probably have installed all of the washers, but that he did screw the screws in very tightly. We tried every speed and direction combination. Now the fan makes the noise all the time, regardless of the speed or direction. I am having someone else come out to install a down rod. Maybe they can stop the noise.

Im sorry that your fan is making some sort of noise, We attempted to get you on the schedule to check out the noise. We sent a tech out after the install to check out the noise and i wasn't making any, as you mentioned in the update. You then called back and said it was again, making noise and we said we would come back, but if it wasn't making noise, for the second time, we would have to charge a service fee. I am assuming this was not acceptable. I hope you get this resolved. Thank you

We were impressed with the quality and detail of the work provided. I had them install an outlet for an island light fixture in my kitchen. They verified my appointment and called before arriving to let me know they were on the way. It was a difficult installation due to water lines in the ceiling (2-story) but the work was completed in a timely manner and with minimal mess. Very professional and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the work. They tested all the outlets before leaving and wanted to know if we had any questions. Would highly recommend them for any future work we need. Since we are recent transplants to Houston it was nice to have a qualified company that is very customer oriented. They did a great job!

They are awesome! They are very personable and take the time to tell you exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it. They are very upfront about the cost and advise you on what you should do and give you alternatives based on your situation and budget. Their pricing is very fair and competitive with other electricians, but their customer service puts them above the rest.

They came out and were here about an hour. They weren’t able to do what I wanted because they did not bring the equipment they needed for it. I told them I needed two outlets but they only brought stuff for one outlet. It was fine and I just used the one hour. The owner and worker were both friendly. I just feel that they should have been a little clearer in the deal. However, they did do great work!

They were running late and called in a timely way to reschedule for the next slot on the same day. No problem for me and I was happy with their communication. They were punctual for the revised time slot. When he arrived the work was very efficient. I have a dog and cat and he was very careful to use an alternate door so our pets would not get out. The one thing I have to say is the truck only stocked white outlets and covers. Ours are all cream. Still, I have a new outlet in a place I really needed one. It is in a hallway and is not all that visible.
Description of Work: Veteran Electric troubleshooted an overhead recessed light that would not come on most of the time. He tightened everything behind the wall switch and grounded it as well. A new wall outlet was installed elsewhere in the house. He installed four LED flood lights in a high ceiling. We have a wall switch and did not know what it controlled. He cleared up the mystery - it is a second control for an outdoor flood light.

They did a great job. They initially came out to perform the work and after telling them of all of the projects I was having done in the living room they suggested they come back to avoid causing extra work. They went through exactly what needed to be done for the best outcome in the living room and told me just to call when the other contractors were finished. I rescheduled after the other projects were complete. They showed up and performed the work quickly and it turned out fantastic. They also identified a wiring problem in the attic and completed it as well. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs work performed.

They came out within a couple of days of purchasing and the first technician did his best to help us with our situation, but the end of it, it really wasn’t complete. A couple of weeks later, the actual owner of the company came out to complete it to our original request. He actually admitted that his first technician that he sent probably wasn’t fully trained in the very specific request we had, so he said okay, I have experience with that, let me come and do it, so he came out, he completed it, and it’s great. He didn’t charge me anything extra for his service.
Description of Work: I've purchased a Big Deal for Veteran Electric Inc. We were having television cable rerouted throughout our home. We have an older home and it was actually only coming out of the wall in one room, so we wanted it rerouted to a couple of other rooms and that required them to get up in the attic, make sure that the cable was actually up to par, and then finding other route through the walls to one bedroom and then another route through to the living room.

See above. It didn't go!! It was an exercise in futility!! Very aggravating!
Description of Work: I could never get anyone on the phone that knew what was happening. My initial call was forgotten, and I continued to receive info from Veteran Electric to please contact them or lose the deal. I had to call them a second time to tell them that they had already set up an appointment with me. When the day came, I called Veteran Elect. to let them know that my wife would be at home, but that I wanted to meet with the electrician first, to lay out what we wanted done, but I had a Doctor appointment. The secretary had sent me email the day before stating that they had only a few calls and would most likely be early. I called mid day to check if the electrician was going to be early, and was told probably not, but he would be on time. I re-explained the necessity for the electrician to be on time. She asked me if they could come out on Saturday, but she would first have to clear it with her boss, and that she would call me right back. 45 minutes later, I called, and the lady to whom I had spoken to was gone, so I re-explained again, and was told that she would have to check with her boss, and let me know immediately. An hour later I called to find out what the heck was going on, and was told that she was on the phone with her boss, and the electrician and would get back to me shortly. As it was I missed my Doctor's appointment because no one knew what was going on. About 20 mins later I received a call from the electrician to tell me he would not be able to come after-all. The appointment was for 5:00 PM. The whole day was wasted waiting around because these people had no clue as to what was going on. The electrician told me they had issues with the secretaries not communicating, and told me he would come Saturday. I told him I was done. I had no faith that if the secretaries were clueless, it wouldn't be likely that the electrician would be any good either. I could just see waiting all day Saturday at home, and the anger I would have with people wasting my time.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, When we issue a 3-5 time frame, that means that we will be there between 3-5. Had we known that you had a doctors appointment at 5, we would have never offered that time slot. We offered Saturday, which is not a normal workday, to try to accommodate you as best we could. Our communication could have been better, and that is something that will be discussed with our employees. Once again, we are very sorry and wish you the best. Vince

I purchased the promotional 2 hours of electrical work for $150.00. I thought that a competent and honest electrician could complete the task in 2 hours easily. They initially told me that this could be done in 2 hours. The owner's name I believe is Vince and he did not come. Two employees of his showed up. One guy's name was Brandon. I don't recall the name of the other guy. It took them 20-30 minutes to gather stuff from their truck after they saw what needed to be done. I believe this was deliberate. They chose to manually screw stuff in and out when using a drill would have been faster. I felt this too was deliberate. They told me they didn't have caulking to put around the hole they made and that it would be cheaper for me to do it than to have them go to Wal-Mart or Home Depot. This is not something you would expect from a professional, especially if they took 30 minutes to gather stuff they thought they would "need". They used a broken box for the switch and had to spend time replacing it when the cover wouldn't fit. I believe this was also deliberate and intended to run up the time. They didn't have stuff to clean up the work area and I had to provide it to them. They took the liberty to step on the outdoor furniture without covering it or asking if it was okay to do so. They billed excessively for material without itemizing what was used, how much, and what they charge for each. This also is deliberate and the intent is to overcharge. I spoke to the owner, Vince, about all of this. He told me that I wasn't qualified to determine how long it would take them to do the job. I agreed. However, I am qualified to determine when someone is moving like molasses and deliberately taking up time so they can bill. I am qualified to determine when I am being lied to and cheated. It doesn't take 30 minutes for a honest and competent electrician to gather the stuff they will need from their truck to run a wire for a light fixture and install a switch, especially when they know that the customer purchased a promotion based on time. The owner did reduce my bill by $50 because he wanted to make sure that I call him when I need an electrician and refer his company to everyone I know and that I don't write a bad review. Sorry, that won't be happening. Had the work been done in a honest and professional manner, I would have been happy to pay the full invoice without any question and call you for all future work as I would rather use someone I know than go hunting for a promotion. I think this is bad business and this company should be avoided unless you like to overpay. The feeling I got was that the whole promotion is a racket and that it was never their intent to complete the job within that time frame. If you decide to use them, you should get a detailed written bid for all work and materials before you let them begin work. I wish I had done this. i would like to supplement my previous review. After I posted it, Vince personally called me and he was concerned about the review. He was very caring, concerned, and respectful of my opinions. I did not intend to imply that he tried to bribe me by reducing my bill $50. He said he was unaware of a lot of things I wrote and vowed to discuss it with his employees. He offered to personally come out and do any further work I needed in the future, as well as refund the full amount to me for work already done. I declined the refund. In light of his professionalism, concern, and genuineness, I would recommend Veteran Electric and I intend to use them again as long as Vince personally comes out to do the work.
