Two people showed up, on time, and started working. One of them was the company owner. Not long after showing up, I heard the owner say that they should have brought another dolly. Later, he told his helper that this was really a three man job. I heard more minor "complaining" throughout the day, regarding the long walk to the elevator, the amount of time it was taking, etc. I was beginning to wonder how much extra I would have to pay because they were understaffed and ill-prepared. Although the owner was generally considerate and appeared to be working hard, I got tired of his complaining and wondered why the move was taking so long. Everything was packed and ready to go. I wondered if they were just lacking efficiency somewhere. It was taking such a long time for walks to and from the freight elevator, that I began to think they weren't loading it fully; instead, taking only what one individual could push on a dolly, all the way down to the truck, before returning for another load. Of course, this would negate the benefit of having a freight elevator and increase the job time considerably. Initially, the owner said that they could get the job done in 6-8 hours. It ended up taking more than a day and a half. At the end of the first day, the owner told me that the job was going to cost at least $200 more. I was okay with that, but time wore on the next day my concern for the company's competence grew. As I observed them working on the second day, I noticed several small loads come down the freight elevator - enough for one man to push on the dolly. At the end of the second day, I got a bill for $1370. I told the owner I could understand miscalculations and adjustments and a 20% margin should allow for that. He disagreed. I would have given this company an overall D instead of a C, but they performed the work without damage.
Description of Work: Moved from apartment to house. House was 3 miles from apartment complex. I got bids from 3 companies, informing each that this would be a complicated move: * It included a very large storage unit at the complex * The storage unit was on the 3rd floor of one building * The apartment was on the 4th floor of another * Both would require use freight elevators with long walks to the elevators All 3 companies gave me bids between $800-$1000. The company I chose gave a bid of $900. I chose them one because someone recommended them.

I bought a used refrigerator and called them at about 10:00am. They made every effort to accommodate my request for a move that day(the day before Thanksgiving)and worked me in on top of a very busy schedule. They were pleasant to work with, kept me updated on a minor delay, followed instructions, never complained once even though it was a difficult job and the traffic was terrible. Their bid was the lowest I could get over the phone. I was so impressed by their service. Everyone at the company was nice, the movers were careful and acted professionally and responsibly.
Description of Work: Moved a large refrigerator 10 miles the same day I called.
