Hurricane Sandy reminded me of being without electricity for two weeks during IKE. I do not want to go through that again, ever. I have looked around for a long time and asked others for generator referrals. South Texas was one of those referrals. They were prompt, polite, and took pride in their work. In addition, they quickly made friends with my protective German Shepherd. The installation went great. Before they left, they answered all of my questions. Being a teacher, I typically have lots of questions. I certainly have no problem recommending South Texas Electric to my friends and colleagues.
Description of Work: They arrived when they said that they would. They installed my 20 KW generator. Now when my power goes out, I have electriclty. I love it.

1. 3 weeks to get an appointment - that was OK since it wasn't an emergency 2. day of appointment, after appointment time, called to say there was an emergency and they couldn't make it 3. day of rescheduled appointment (10-12, confirmed by phone that morning), arrived at 1:00; worker "forgot" his tools so couldn't do 90% of work required 4. they never called to reschedule

Upon joining Angies’s List in Nov. of 10’, we were very disappointed to find a negative report from over 1-1/2 years earlier. We immediately looked into the matter and found the complaint to be extremely miss-leading with numerous inconsistencies. 1. In her complaint, the member stated that she has never used S.T.E. before. This is not true. In fact, the member has used S.T.E. twice before in 2008, Oct. 22 for landscape lighting and again Oct. 27 for chandelier and fixture replacements. She was completely satisfied which is why she called us a third time in 2009. 2. Typically our customers choose the date that is convenient for them and we offer different time windows available on that date. 3. Emergency calls have come up. In the rare occasion, if one of our valued customers calls with a concern of a fire hazard (smell burning plastic, hear crackling behind a receptacle etc.), we locate the closest technician and dispatch him immediately. If this results in a cancellation, that customer goes to the top of the list with $25.00 off the service call. 4. Our service trucks are stocked with redundant company tools, meters, and all other equipment to perform most any project. If the tech. showed up in a company service truck, he showed up with his tools…….period. To say anything otherwise is simply untrue. 5. The member requested her panel be “serviced”. In reality, she wanted her Main Disconnect relocated and her sub-panel upgraded. However, most of this project was behind locked doors and she could not gain access at that time. Instead of doing a small portion of the project and leaving it incomplete, the tech. offered to come back when he could do the entire project at once. Tech. did not charge for time spent. The technicians ticket states that the”customer will notify the office” when she can gain access to the entire work area. I believe this is where there was a misunderstanding or communication breakdown. As it was, we never did follow up with her which proved to be a mistake as this obviously enraged her to the point she felt she should leave such a hateful review. It is unfortunate that one will pass on 2 opportunities to give a positive report, yet be quick to take the time and give an untrue and defamatory review.
