Remodel Specialists

This is the third time we have hired Remodel Specialists. They previously had updated our 2 bathrooms, one had to be taken down to the studs. The second time we hired them to do a new kitchen window/patio entry wall. Their work is excellent. They have helped us to get a rather small tract home "ready for its' closeup" and move-in condition for the next family, and we appreciate it very much. They worked with us on price, we didn't want to spend more than we had to, since we're not going to be living there. We followed thru with the work on the bathrooms, and used the same colors of paint, same doors and hardware throughout to keep a uniform and updated look for a home that's over 30 years old. In any job, there's glitches. We know to never expect a completely smooth project. This time, it seems that us being in Austin kept us from getting timely updates. We thought the job would take about 2 weeks, once they got going; it was closer to 6 weeks when we did the final walk-thru. In the earlier two jobs, we always had daily or every other day e-mail updates. Also, either Jim or Nic would drop by the job site from time to time to check on what's going on. With this job, however, we were told that a new addition to the team, Trevor, would be our point of contact. And that would have been fine, except contact was the last thing we got. Every update about the project had to be initiated by us. We'd e-mail or call, and "Trevor will get back to you." When he did, we'd ask our questions or whatever, and he'd almost always have to "ask Travis (the supervisor on the project) and get back to us." My husband had reason to be in Spring once during the project and he dropped in at the office, buttonholed Trevor, and found out that he'd never actually been at our old house. We understand weather delays, this has been a stormy time for the area, for sure. But our carpet wasn't ordered so it held up the progress of that part of the project. All that being said, the house looks great. There were a couple of small items that needed attention, and someone from Remodel Specialists came out to the house and fixed them. It went on the market and in 2 days we got 6 offers, one of which we accepted. It's in escrow now, and we should be able to tie up this loose end of our lives soon. We were just frustrated by the lack of communication at times.

Jim and Lori Godre and crews gave us exactly what we wanted and the finished kitchen is better than we imagined. Everyone we came into contact with at their showroom or in our home was respectful, pleasant, capable and willing to do the work to our satisfaction, even when we requested a change from the original plan. As we mentioned to Jim, our only wish would have been more communication from them during the process. However, whenever we asked any questions, they responded right away. Jim's quote for the project was the lowest of the bids we got, and very accurate. His lower cost definitely does not equate to lower quality - our kitchen looks like it was custom built from scratch. There were several instances where Jim recommended ways for us to save money on this project, some of which meant that he did not make money from his suggestion, clearly demonstrating to us Jim's integrity and desire that we be completely satisfied - which we are.

Demolition and rough in construction went as scheduled. Finish work took a little longer than originally planned but overall very happy with the quality of the finished product. This company was very good to work with and very responsive to any question or concerns.

They are great. I will sue them again.

Remodel Specialists made my vision of a new bathroom come true and even made it better than I could imagine!! From the quote given by the owner Jim Godre to the meetings with Jim, Sarah , and Nic everything was so positive. The people they employ have worked for them many years and you can tell they enjoy working for the owners. The tile layer, Ruben is very talented and made some excellent suggestions about the layout of the tile and adding some travertine in specific places. This just enriched the entire look of the bathroom. Ruben and his assistant, Ismael, have a lot of pride in their work and take great care to make sure it is done right and the way I wanted it. They are amazing! Rossvin (electrical), Serigo (drywall and paint), Lui (cabinet maker). and Brandon (plumbing and carpenter) were just on point with the finished product. The room looks like it is out of a magazine. The process was very well organized. They came and covered all areas with heavy duty plastic to make sure no damaged would occur. They cleaned up everyday and Bob (the trash and delivery man) would come and take away all garbage. I knew who was coming and what was happening the afternoon of the day before as Trevor would email me the next day's work schedule. The even worked around a doctor's appointment I had. Their materials are top notch- paint, trim, grout all the best. Sarah is the office manager and she was so valuable in listening to any concerns or answering questions. I am so thankful I found this company on Angie's List and hope to use them again.

We have been using them for a while. They have refinished our floors. They built bookshelves in my office. Jim is just super.

I called the company and spoke with the owner, Jim. I was in need of a bathroom remodel, but as it turns out, we live outside Jim's service area. I wanted to write a review because Jim was very gracious to offer to me to call him with any questions or concerns about the project once I do find a contractor to do the work. That struck me as very professional and above and beyond what anyone should expect from a stranger. Good job, Jim. I wish I could have used you.

Remodel Specialists completely rebuilt our shower in 2013, but the finish on some of the 2x2 tiles on the shower floor came off due to a possible manufacturing defect. (We purchased all of the tile materials from RS.) This defect first showed up last year, and RS came out and replaced the 2x2 tiles that were part of the center design of the shower floor. Unfortunately, the tile problem showed up again this winter, but just like last time, they promptly addressed the issue. This time they removed all of the tiles from the floor and substituted a different material for the rebuild. The job took three hours on the first day and the next morning they came back to grout the floor. Like all previous work here, they let you know when their installers were on the way, the workers protected the floors from the front entrance all the way to the bathroom work area, and cleaned up thoroughly when they were finished. This re-do of the shower floor was accomplished at zero cost to us since we had selected and purchased the tiles at Remodel Specialists. At the time we first started working with RS on the bathroom remodel, my wife and I considered buying tile on our own. I am so glad we didn't and instead bought from RS, since they stand by the materials purchased through them and used in their remodel projects. I think it is rare these days to find a contractor who will go the extra mile the way this company does to keep their customers satisfied. Jim and Lori Godre are the owners, and their character and integrity is unmatched in the remodeling industry. (I have no financial interest in Remodel Specialists.)

They did a great job. It just take a long time more than scheduled but they did a good job. They provide good work and little expenses.

Like all of the work they have performed here prior, everything came out perfect. Their plumber removed and replaced the faucet without any issues, but he had to send out their granite guys to drill an additional hole in the countertop so a flush mounted air switch could be installed for the garbage disposal. (The Kohler hands free fixture cannot be connected to a switchable power supply similar to how a garbage disposal is connected.) The granite guys did a perfect installation and cleaned the dust and debris after they completed the installation.

They were perfect. They told me when they would start and finished and meet my expectations. It was a 2 week job. There was a lot of custom tile work which was excellent. It's a beautiful job and I'm extremely satisfied.

It is hard to find words to adequately relate what a wonderful experience it has been working with Remodel Specialists. I first contacted Jim last September and got an estimate. I talked with two other contractors, but it was the reviews on Angie's list and the personal meetings with Jim, Lori and Sarah that sold us on Remodel Specialists. Due to some health issues in our family, we did not begin the project until July. Communication was great. Each day we received an email telling us who would be at our house that day and what was to be done. It was so easy to contact them if we had any questions or requests and response was swift. This truly is a family operation. All workers are employees of the company,....no subs. Therefore, there is a great deal of pride in the work being done and the courtesy and work ethic was wonderful. Protective paper, plastic, carpet shield was applied on day one, and much care was taken by each worker to keep all areas neat and clean, All craftsmen were awesome, doing such a great job in their specialized area. We are so proud of the finished product, each area is beautiful. Remodel Specialists is all about quality, personal service, and customer satisfaction. With no reservations, we will recommend them to our friends and will use them for any work we may have in the future.

This is the second major bathroom remodel that this company has done here. Like the first job, the execution of this project was flawless. The demolition included tearing out the old cultured marble tub surround, removing a fir down above the tub area to give the shower more height, replace all of the suround wall boards, replace the shower valve and raise the shower head, and then rebuild the new higher ceiling. Then, their tile man, who is the absolute best I have ever seen, began the tile installation which included a glass deco line. Before he could begin the tile job, he put a waterproof membrane on all surfaces, making the entire area leak proof. After the tile work was finished, their painter textured the new ceiling to match the existing ceiling and painted the entire surface. New Moen fixtures were installed and the entire work area was cleaned so that you didn't know they had worked in there. Here's the deal with Remodel Specialists: you can count on them to do everything they say they will do, and be assured that the quality of the work is unsurpassed. In this process, you will enjoy every one of the employees who you come in contact with during the project. They do not use "subs," as every worker is on the payroll at Remodel Specialists. They are polite and professional. (The only thing they don't do is glass work, but they can recommend an outside company who did the frameless shower glass in our master bath remodel, or you can look on your own for a company to do this work.) In a nutshell, this company is outstanding, and I would not use anyone else for a bathroom or kitchen remodel. (I have no financial interest in Remodel Specialists.)

They did an excellent job. They were on time and on budget and I am very very satisfied.

Really nice people. Skilled and conscientious, works in all areas of the project, including painter, plumber, electrician, carpenter and management. Working with them was a very pleasant experience.

Found Remodel Specialists on Angie's List as there were so many great reviews they were hard to miss. Met with some other people but when I met with Jim Godre, I knew he was the guy. The fact that they have done so much work like this before and that all his people are his employees (no subs) gave me great confidence in his company. I am a total novice at remodeling and decorating. Jim and his family and crew helped me at every turn to make good decisions. As I write this, I am sitting in my year old kitchen/breakfast and loving it still. Everything has held together and it looks as new now as it did a year ago. I love it. Jim came out to look things over and took about 2-3 hours with me in my kitchen going over many options. He dissuaded me of some of my ideas and I'm glad he did. I went to their store and looked at the different products they have and toured the back where they shape the granite and build the custom cabinets. Jim accompanied me 3 times to the granite yard and helped me pick out a slab. I contracted with him and they put me on the schedule. The first thing you realize about this operation is that nothing happens by accident or on the fly. Everything is mapped out according to company procedures based on experience and professionalism and customer needs. My job was scheduled and they started on time, were here nearly every day. The entire job progressed relentlessly until it was done. I'm not saying it was quick. It took about 5 weeks start to finish, but progress was steady and I never had doubts. I gutted the kitchen myself (my option) to the concrete and drywall, and it did save me some money. I knew exactly how much $$$ because in the estimate/contract, everything-labor, parts, materials-is itemized coherently. I won't go into minute detail, but I will recount all that they did. New windows. New paint. New tile floor (floated entire floor first-kitchen, den, laundry room and foyer). New custom cabinets (if you get Virgilio to do your work, you will be very happy). Granite counters in kitchen and half bath. Back splash. Repaired ceiling where furr-downs/soffits used to be, painted ceiling. Lighting (9 fixtures). Doors painted. I had new appliances waiting in the garage and they custom designed and built my new kitchen to accommodate each with precision. Installed all new appliances correctly. Everything has held together beautifully! The painter on this job was very thorough and the job is beautiful. Cabinet maker Virgilio visited about 3 times to get measurements for the custom cabinets and to find out exactly what I wanted done. The layout was entirely custom and the finished job was straight, plumb, correct and beautiful. Exactly to specs. Flooring, 18 inch tiles laid out in diamond pattern, well done. Back splash is beautiful. Granite counters perfectly done. Everything fits, is tight, correct and to specs. Having heard plenty horror stories about contractors and their subs, I felt like I dodged bullets by finding this outfit on Angie's List. I could not be happier with their work.

I pretty much knew what I wanted, so he didn't try to tuck me into doing something else. He just listen to what I wanted. They were always very accessible. They were always punctual. I can completely trust them in my home. The quality of work was really good. It was overall a good experience.

It was really good. They were very, very professional and on time. They sent an email every morning to let me know what they were going to do. It was all done in a timely fashion and very professional. I didn't have any problems. Their price was comparable to others.

This is the second time we have worked with Remodel Specialists so we knew how they worked which is one of the reasons we contacted them again. After receiving the very detailed estimate of work and a follow up meeting to address some questions we agreed to proceed. They began with the painting portion of the job starting with the upstairs and proceeding systematically down to the ground floor. They meticulously prepared all areas so that they were well protected. The painters were very experienced and professional and did a fantastic job. Two upstairs bathrooms had vinyl plank flooring installed which looks very nice. The downstairs half bath had a tile floor laid with a new toilet , custom made cabinet with a granite counter top, new sink and fixtures. The walls had old wall paper removed and the walls sealed, primed, textured and painted. The kitchen had an existing fluorescent light box removed, new wiring for a pendant light and 7 new can LEDs installed. The resulting holes in the ceiling were repaired beautifully and entire ceiling painted. The existing tile floor in the kitchen was acid washed and the grout stained and resealed. We are extremely happy with the way the job progressed and with the results. We would highly recommend Remodel Specialists for any remodel job being considered.

Jim was polite dealt with insurance company took care of all issues so there were no headaches there. His crew was polite professional and very talented. They removed and disposed of all items needing replaced. Moisture barriers installed where needed and where recommended. High quality items used. Clear communications provided the entire time.

AMAZING!!!!!! LOOK NO FURTHER, GO WITH REMODEL SPECIALISTS!!!!!! Words can not express how wonderful this company is. We were searching for a company to remodel our living room. This was our 1st remodeling project ever, so we were new to the entire process. We googled, read, researched, watched DIY,etc... so that we would not be taken advantage of in the process (as much as we could help). We looked in the greensheet, online, yellow pages, angie's list, etc. Jim, the owner of Remodel Specialists, came to our home to do a free estimate. He was on-time (very few people showed up on-time, if at all) so this was very important & noticeable. He also gave great recommendations. He definitely was not out to sell all the things that he could do to make money. He gave an honest, realistic estimate. He told us where we could see value & where we could save money. (Why would he care about us saving money?!?!) It was huge. We were able to get everything that we really wanted while saving money on the things that really didn't matter. The money saved will definitely be used to start our next project, the kitchen remodel. Remodel Specialists will be the only company we look to do anything in our home. The estimate arrived within a week. Work started next day after agreement. Work was finished within a week. We were notified daily of the work that was to be completed each day. A lock was placed on our home so that we could go to work while having them work in our home (no need to "hide a key"). Our home was secured while they worked on the remodel. Each employee sent to our home was very professional. We felt included each day of work. The quality of work was above anything we could have ever imagined. Jim remodeled our fireplace, mounted a tv on it & transformed our windows into the most beautiful work we've ever seen. Just getting to know Jim & company was like meeting new friends. Jim worked with us on every step of our remodel. No one came close to the final price of all the work that was done. He stands by his work. This remodel was our 1st anniversary gift to ourselves. It really touched us how much detail & time Jim placed into making sure we had everything that we wanted out of this remodeling project. Thank you Jim, Lori, Nic, Sarah & the entire company for EVERYTHING!!!!

What impressed us was he didn't want to know what other estimates we received because he didn't want to be influenced by other service provider's pricing. He has been very professional so far.
