PROTEX PEST CONTROL

A couple years ago, I gave this company an A rating here on Angie's List, but today's transaction was absolutely an F in terms of professionalism. I had confirm that the company would remove troublesome spider webs from my back yard. The service man didn't remove a single one. It turns out the service person was, indeed, the OWNER of the company, who said it was against his company policy to remove spider webs that aren't on the front or back door. When I explained that all prior service technicians did remove them around windows and such and that their agent had, in fact, confirmed before this service that they would be removed, he shook his head and said he'd have to 'write me a new ticket' and charge more. I said that was unacceptable, and he blamed it on his staff. I understand staff people make mistakes here and there, but this owner took it out on me, the customer, which I think is never accepable. I will not use this company ever again.

I have been using them for 30 years. They are a family owned company. They are very responsive, very very responsive. I have been using them for 30 years, so I must feel they are A's. I have been very lucky and gotten very good vendors. I use Angie's List and that has helped. I do not have any bugs. They know what to do without my having to tell them. They do not need directed every step of the way. They are very reliable. If a pest showed up, I would call them and they would come back out. They go the extra mile and knock down wasp nests when they see them.

We hired them to treat our house once a month. They keep appointments and show up on time. The service guys are professional and do the job quickly.

The technician was extremely polite and courteous. I explained I had allergies to pest control products and that a general spraying of the interior was not preferred so we agreed to do around the commodes and under the sinks. Upon completion of the spraying he brought in an invoice and contract to pay and sign. In explaining the services, under the contract, I noticed they would retreat, in 30 days, at a discounted cost ($ 72.00 this time, $ 59.00 the next.) The balance of the contract was for exterior services only. IF I wanted interior services it would be an additional $10.00. I have never heard of anything like this. When I complained about the contract, the tech called the dispatcher. The dispatcher asked to talk with me and when I stated my position and explained I felt the cost was too high and should include the interior; he said these issues should have been covered in my original phone call. His tone of voice insinuated it was my fault. I hung up. Because I did not sigh their nickel and dime you to death contract they charged me $ 135.00 to partially treat my house. While the tech was reworking the invoice I called the owner to voice my complaint. She gave me a price of $ 69.00 for the contract and $ 5.00 for them to call me and set up the appointment. Needless to say, that did not fly well. So this is the way I understand it: If there no contract signed they stiff you for $ 135.00. If you sign a contact it?s for exterior work only and $10.00 additional for the interior; but I don?t know if the $ 5.00 is part of the $10.00 or an additional charge. Their spraying is usually for baseboards, under the sinks, bathrooms, attic, and garage and around the base of the house on the outside. I asked him not to do the attic and garage as I was not ready for him to do that service and not to do the baseboards but I was charged full price, which I did not complain about so the original cost was high for the job performed. I will admit I got upset when talking with the owner but I would never have treated a customer the way I was treated by the owner or a dispatcher. I am a business owner and do not handle my upset customers this way. It?s never if you have an issue with a customer because we all will, at some point, but it?s the way you treat the customer that says what you are as a company. What a rip off this company is.

I have had the same pest control people for 35 years. We began using them when we bought this house. They are very nice, prompt and come when they say they are going to come. I have used them for a long time and I will continue to use them.

I'll update this soon. But I just talked to them and they're coming out to spray green roach control oils in our kitchen; they'lll come three or four times, and the whole thing will be one base cost of $125. There is a deal right now, half off. Seems like a good bet to me. I'll update you later on how the appointment etc goes. i just wanted to say here that the man on the phone was responsive, called me right back when I left a message, and I think the price is right. The one negative review here seems to skew things for this company and so just like the people who give Fs when people don't call back, I just want to give a preliminary A or B for what I've been offered so far. Might change in a few days, but so far, a great experience.

Terribly overpriced. Following initial visit technicians' spend at most 5 minutes at my property every other month and charge 75 dollars a session for the privilege. $150 cancellation fee keeps you locked in for a year. Look elsewhere.

The initial exposure to this company was dissapointing. After taking time off work to shcedule a pest control treatment and a termite contract/service establishment, the technician arrived to do a general pest control treatment with a termite "inspection" for $20. That wasn't at all what was requested. I was told that if I wanted termite service, I would need to schedule it (which is what I had already done). I rated this company very low on professionalism - after a lengthy conversation with someone in there office resulted in a superficial inspection with no contract establishment. The lact oif execution and follow through cost them the termite business. The pest control treatment itself was fine - they treated the outisde on-time every other month, and did lay granules down for any ant mounts identified. When they were scheduled for thier last treatment, I informed them that I had noticed a few fleas in the house and requested that they treat the inside (which had been promised if it was "ever needed"). I was told that fleas were not covered - and that to have the interior sprayed, it would cost me ANOTHER $59 - which is what I was already paying. Long story short, that cost them the rest of the pest control business. It's decent for the price - but be aware of what you get - or don't get for what you pay. They tell you each time that you schedule an appointment that "remember you are protected" - until you ask for an inside treatment - and you are not.

I like them. They will come out the next day.

Contacted them by phone for pest control, was given a price and told the entire house would be treated. Technician arrived and only treated one room and exterior. Was told to retreat in 30 days, bugs came back in 1 week. Called the company again and was told they would send someone out today, I asked if I would be charged again, they said yes. I said to forget it and I would call another company and would they please refund my initial payment since they did not live up to th verbal contract. they said they would like to send out a specific person, I told them that was the same person that had been here and he did not provide correct information or do what I was told they would do.While I know this company has a fairly good reputation, the service I received was horrid. The technician was almost 2 hours late, I had to pay for a handyman to be here with me since I knew nothing about bugs. This was an expensive lesson in mom and pop operations...I would not suggest ever using them....but I am sure others will. My experience brought me to tears.

They are punctual and courteous. They answer your questions. They you if the ants are there outside and take care of that. They help you with whatever you need. I have been with them from a long time. I wouldn't think of changing them. I will continue using them.
