Description of Work: I needed the ducts repaired/replaced in my home. Prestige came out and did a free inspection of what needed to be done, provided an estimate with a detailed listing of what was to be done. I accepted their proposal, scheduled for them to come out and they came and did an excellent job. And the work came with a 1 year labor warranty. Very pleased with this company and the work they did.

Description of Work: Prestige Heating and Air Conditioning was engaged to install a new mini-split AC for our master bedroom which was not receiving good air flow from the existing AC. They did an excellent job cleaning out the components they replaced (old duct work) and installing the new equipment. After six months of operation we are happy with their continued support and equipment quality.

I called them when we realized we had a serious problem with the heater. The installation is less than a year old (we purchased the house in August 2012). Seller told us the installation was still under warranty, so I called Brian as recommended and explain him our situation (we used over 150 gallons of gaz in less than a month !!) he sent a technician no later than the following day. Technicia called before showing up, checked the installation but didn't have the right parts. He offered to come the following day to replace the broken parts but we had planned to be gone, so he came on the next Monday and took care of it. I haven't received any bill as of yet. The parts were still covered by the warranty but I don't know about labor.

I received 12 quotes from 10 contractors for just the coil -- ranging from $1500 to $2900. Many contractors pushed a whole AC systems ($5K-$7K), and some even pushed a whole HVAC (including furnace) replacement, as a "better" solution ($5K to $12K). Since the system is barely 10 yrs ago with no blower issues, the furnace quotes were definitely overboard. With proper maintenance good systems are reliable for 15 -20 yrs. I put a call into Prestige and Brian (owner) called me back a bit later to discuss my AC problem. His solution, based on what I described over the phone ("rusted and dripping secondary pan") was a coil (copper) replacement and a new pan with a float switch. He did not offer any wty, coil brand or other details. (I did not ask.) He then gave me his bid which turned out to be only $50 higher than the lowest one of the 12 i received for "coil only". I then asked if there was a discount for Angie's List and he said, "No". This is contrary to what is posted on Angie's List: "Each Angie's List member will receive a 10% discount just for mentioning Angie" on the cost of each option to address my problem. I got only the one "option" even though the info on Angie's List suggested there would be more than one. I liked the low price and that he was confident enough to give me a quote over the phone, without having seen the condition of the system. (Saved me time. Only 5 minutes, vs the typical one hour, including a pitch from the salesman.) And I can understand why he might not want to discount the low price another 10%. (a pretty rock bottom price.) However I never got a hard copy (email or snail mail), and there was no offer for one (I did not ask). So I was not so confident that that was a firm quote. Other costs (eg new transition, plenum, line insulation, drain lines, etc) could easily be added that could quickly increase my costs in the middle of the job and i would be stuck in a bad situation: no working HVAC and a week before I could get some else to the house. And given that he reneged on the 10% discount, he might be inclined to renege on other commitments.
Description of Work: The auxiliary drain pan had just about rusted through on my downstairs AC unit. The coil had been leaking for 2 yrs onto the pan and needed to be replaced as well. It was a cheap, builder grade, poorly installed coil. But it functioned over 10 yrs. Prestige was one of HVAC contractors I contacted (chosen from Angie's List) for a quote to "fix" my AC.

I spoke to the customer on the phone and offered an in person visit to the home if they so desired one. They were merely getting prices at the time. We have approximately 15 to 20 customers per day call for prices only. It is very hard to determine when the customer is serious and is wanting a hard copy of a proposal or when they are just simply "shopping around". We treat every customer as if they are our only one. I firmly believe that is the best approach to real customer service. This is the second issue we have had with the "10 % discount" and I would really like to clear the issue up. I (Brian Gesner) am the only one in my company that speaks to any advertising affiliations such as Angie's List. Until Mrs. Trail asked me about the 10 % discount on Angie's List, I was completely unaware that we were even a part of their system. I conducted a search immediately and contacted Angie's List about the situation. They realized that somehow a mistake had been made and informed me that it would be removed immediately. I am now working with Angie's List to be a member of their organization. I would truly love to be able to offer a 10 % discount on equipment replacement but I would then have to raise my prices to the level of pricing my competitors have. We do everything we can to keep our overhead down which translates to lower costs to our customers. The way our pricing schedule is set up, a discount is not necessary. You will normally find our prices to be lower than our competitors even if they offer a 10 % discount. We realize our customers are what keeps us employed and able to do what we love. Being able to provide comfort to our customers and seeing the smiles on their faces as we leave, is absolutely awesome. I only hire technicians that have the same feeling as I do and I do my best to make sure every customer is satisfied with our performance. I do apologize to the Janke family and I hope we get an opportunity in the future to restore their confidence in us.

The good - they got the job done in 2 days and everything seems to work fine. The bad - only one person could speak english and he wasn't there all the time and they offered a 10% discount if we mentioned Angie's List but when I asked for the discount they started crawfishing saying they were not registered with Angie's List yet. I eventually got $300 off the job instead of the $560 I had expected. If you use them just make sure you get everything in writing.
Description of Work: Removed existing air ducts in ceiling and installed new. Installed new a/c/heating central air system in house.

We would be glad to give a discount that our company had approved. This discount was incorrectly entered into our system by Angie's List. Our policy at that time was to offer extra special pricing for Angie's List members to hopefully obtain new customers from the service. The discounts already given, in addition to the 10% off the entire project would have made the project go into a negative. The person I spoke with was Brian Gesner and he was the most professional about everything.
Description of Work: They replaced the condenser unit , the coil and the evaporator coil. They tested the unit and even cleaned the unit in the attic!

I was very happy with them. The technician seemed very knowledgeable about his equipment and the technology. My repair was easy to fix and he talked to me about my specific repair and about the general heating and cooling and what I could do to make my system more efficient. I was very happy with the overall experience. I intend to hire them again to give my overall air conditioning a checkup for the summer. Those guys were good.
