Painting Specialists

My husband and I found Jose from Painting Specialists on Angie's List. We were pleased with his reviews and the Angie's List deal going on at the time, so we contacted him to provide an estimate for the overall project. He responded right away, and he arrived at our house to provide an estimate within the next few days. We explained to him what we wanted to have completed (interior painting for a 3,200 sq. ft. home with 10' ceilings, including all doors, trim, ceilings, bathroom cabinets for three bathrooms, two coats of paint in each room, and some wallpaper removal). He didn't seem very well-versed on the Angie's List deal, so he couldn't give us more details about it (which was a little disappointing), but he promised to contact us the next day with more information (which he never did). He gave us an estimate of the project cost without the deal for reference at approximately $7,000-$9,000. We were pleased with the price with or without the deal, so we decided to hire him... although we were still hoping to get somewhat of a discount once he confirmed the deal. Unfortunately, within a couple days of receiving the estimate, we had to postpone the project because we had family come to stay with us unexpectedly. However, we had not yet decided on paint colors, and he had not yet purchased supplies for the project. We apologized to him and told him we would contact him as soon as we were ready to restart the project. We contacted him promptly after our guests left (two months later) and discussed the project once again. There was no longer an Angie's List deal, so we scheduled him to come back to the house for another estimate. We confirmed the date and time of the estimate over the phone and via text, and he told us he would start painting promptly the following day (and possibly that weekend as well). On the day of the estimate, my husband contacted him with 2 hours' notice to let him know that we would be running 5-10 minutes late because we were caught up at a doctor's appointment. I am 8 month's pregnant by the way. He seemed very upset and inconvenienced, so we tried to reschedule the estimate for the following day. He was already scheduled to start painting that day anyway, so it should not have been a problem. His original tour of our home only took 5 minutes, and he was able to give us an estimate right way. He told us that he was busy the next day and that weekend and could not come to provide an estimate for us. We reminded him that we'd already agreed for him to start painting that next day and possibly that weekend, so we were confused as to why he couldn't reschedule the estimate. He admitted that he'd accepted another project for the days we requested him to paint and he would not be able to start our project for a while. That was unacceptable to us. We did not have much time to get the project completed as my due date was approaching, and we'd already confirmed when he would start painting. I think it was very unprofessional for him to take on another project. My husband let him know that we would no longer be working with him, and Jose started to get very defensive at this time. He was rude and his tone was very unprofessional. He blamed us for rescheduling the project 2 months prior, and he told us that he didn't trust that we would actually follow through with the project despite having numerous phone conversations with him, actually scheduling a start date, and discussing payment. He was very short-tempered with us when we canceled the project altogether, but we just don't have the time to deal with someone so unprofessional and so unpredictable.

Incredible, Jose cleaned the house and also cleaned the garage doors, driveway, and sidewalks with pressure washing. Just the cleaning alone changed the entire house, but after the paint job we were extremely satisfied. We highly recommend Jose's services to our friends and colleagues.

The best thing about Jose was that he was always punctual and worked around our schedule. Very polite and very detailed with all of his work. My dog spilled paint on the carpet. Jose and his crew quickly stopped working to clean up the paint and left the carpet intact! Very pleased with his work.

Not only was the old wallpaper removed, but Jose also added a nice pattern of texture all around the walls before painting. Our friends have also hired Jose because of the work done in our restroom, great work!

Jose came in and replaced the damaged ceiling with new drywall. Completely matched the old texture and painted the entire ceiling. I was impressed with his work ethic and provided us with his genuine advise of how to properly complete the job. What impressed me the most was that he gave us discounted prices on any paint color we wanted.
