Ricardo's work had to match the specs of the other contractors that were doing the construction. He did as great job as I knew he would since I have used his services multiple times in the past. I highly recommend Ricardo for any concrete work.

Ricardo responded within a day with an estimate and once I gave the go ahead with the project he was able to work me into his busy schedule. He arrived on time and had the work completed within a day and took time to help me understand how to best maintain my new paver patio. Wish all contractors were as honest and straightforward as Ricardo.

+ 1 moreIt was a great experience! Ricardo came out twice to discuss the design with us before giving us a timely, written estimate. He addressed all of our concerns with patience and answered all of our questions. His estimate was considerably lower than the other two we got. He gave us an honest start date and actually was able to begin the job sooner than expected. We liked the fact that he was hands-on, too, working alongside his workers and making sure that everything was done just right. We made a change or two to the design during the construction process and he was happy to implement the changes for us. The job was done in 1-1/2 days and he would not let us pay him until he was certain that we were 100% satisfied. We would definitely use him again and highly recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Ricardo built a raised, terraced flagstone planter bed for us.

+ 1 moreLooks great. Mr. Mercado came out, gave us an estimate, a recommendation on which stones to use and a large pamphlet to select the stones. Mr. Mercado and crew were on time, friendly and did the work in a professional manner. As per recommendation, we had the deck sealed about 10 days later. He came out as scheduled and it was completed in a professional manner. This job is about a 12 x 12 deck bordered on two sides by our house and one side by 2 vine covered brick posts with a bird bath, ferns, bulbs, rose bush & other flowering vegetation and a narrow flagstone path leading up to it. This deck used to have a mature Pin Oak tree surrounded by a wood deck. Due to Hurricane Harvey, the tree and wood deck had to be removed and the tree stump ground out (Mercado did not do the tree/wood deck removal). But this still left a lot of large roots for them to dig up. Mercado had to get their small backhoe in to dig up the tree roots. This was not easy for them due to the narrow stone path and vegetation along it's sides. After getting with me to try to minimize damage to my plants they took my input and actually didn't damage any plants. The price quoted was a fair price and was the price we paid. The sealing was an optional extra that we knew about up front. We would use them again if needed in the future.

+ -1 moreRicardo has a great attitude and truly cares that the customer is happy. At the last moment, a contractor on one of his big jobs required his team to stay focused on their job. Instead of cancelling my job, he reached out to a friend in the concrete business to have his team do my job. And Ricardo was on site the whole day when my concrete was being laid by his friend's team. He's a class act and I would hire him again.

Himself and his crew are seasoned professionals that went above and beyond to ensure we had a flawless patio and thoroughly cleaned up the job site when they were finished. My wife and I were unsure of the color we should choose and Mr. Mercado provided a full color brochure, pictures of previous job sites, and was very helpful in recommending a paver color based on our home. We went with his recommendation and could not be happier. I happened to make an initial call to him on a Sunday morning due to having a crazy week at work expecting a call back on Monday and to my surprise, he called me back Sunday! He is a busy contractor but was upfront with me on time frame and told me he would work me in as soon as he could. Folks, it was worth the wait. His craftsmanship is the reason he is in demand. I could also tell Mr. Mercado had excellent leadership ability with his crews. He worked alongside them (just as hard as they did). When the project was finished, it looked exactly as he had described it to me and exactly as my wife and I had wanted and imagined it. He even took some concrete debris I had in my yard as a courtesy when he didn't have to. Ricardo, thank you sir, my family is looking forward to enjoying our new paver patio and will certainly call you when we need additonal paver work.

He was very helpful in walking us through our options and we are so pleased with the finished product. The job went very well, the guys finished the job quickly and beautifully. Their cleanup was terrific - you'd never know they were here. The path looks amazing and with the entrance to the patio now having a finished look, our backyard has the needed boost it was lacking. Will definitely use them again!!
Description of Work: Gave the entrance to the deck a finished look with brick squares; made a path from the side of the deck to the house using pavers; where a tree had been removed they filled a 6'x9' dirt area in the driveway with cement, squaring off the end to match the edging on either side and then adding landscape stones along that entire edge; added a stepping stone path from the driveway to the gate door.

He listened to what I wanted and helped me design my patio to what I wanted and added great touches that I didn't even think about. His employees are some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. Mr. Mercado transformed our backyard into a living space for a very reasonable price. He was prompt, professional, and went above and beyond what he said he would do. I would hire him again over anyone else I interviewed. He and his team are true artists!!!

He gave us an estimate 3 weeks out as to when he would start and he started within two days of that estimate, his work is weather dependent. His crew did a great job. They showed up on time each day and did a full days work every day. Our project was completed in two weeks and a couple of those days he was waiting on a plumber for the fire pit. I would definitely use his company again.

+ 3 moreI left it up to Ricardo to decide how to do the retaining wall. I had a choice of concrete or pavers. He chose to put pavers. I cannot even express how blown away I was by his customer service, the quality of his work, and his attention to detail. I cannot remember when I worked with a contractor that truly knows the meaning of good customer service and quality work at the level of Ricardo. He had his crew remove a huge amount of soil before beginning the drain and my patio. He texted me pictures of the job as they progressed as I had to be at work. When I got home, I saw a beautiful patio and custom retaining wall with a lovely top border of pavers in a lighter color. It was unbelievable. He took a job to address a serious drainage issue and made a beautiful, custom landscaped area for me. I cannot really express the quality of workmanship and the care he took in making this a beautiful area. I cannot wait to put plants in and a fountain in an area that once looked like a pig pen. My relatives and friends have been astonished by the results and all want his number for future projects. I will not leave the cost of this project as I feel that he was underpaid for the amount of work he did. He called me yesterday after the rain we had to see how the drains were working. Who does that? I cannot recommend his company high enough. He would get a A++. I look forward to having him do some landscaping for me in the future.
Description of Work: I was having severe drainage problems at a patio home I just purchased. I knew the soil was up to the siding on the side of the house and there had been water damage to the siding and some to the interior walls. (previous owner had 30 years of compost accumulation next to the house). After the first big rain, I was horrified to see that water came with 1/2 inch of siding. I called 6 contractors and had them come out and tell me what I could do. I also wanted a patio and walkway along the house as this area is just dirt. The other contractors quoted me the cost for putting a surface drain in but really did not offer me a comprehensive solution to the problem. When I mentioned that I thought some of the soil that had built up next to the house needed to be removed, none of them except Ricardo, would address this. When I called Ricardo Mercado, he came out immediately. Though I don't usually do this, I told him the amount of money I had to work with. Two previous quotes had been over $6000 dollars. He was professional, understood my needs and more than willing to work within my budget. I was not worried about aesthetics at this point, just keeping water out of my house. He suggested a concrete patio and sidewalk alongside the house, a surface drain with multiple catch basins attached to my new gutters, and a retaining wall between the house next door, which sits much higher than mine, to keep water from flowing directly into my house.
