HRR has performed work on a couple properties since 2014. Much of the work was to correct problems left by a previous contractor. Services ranged from floor tile, painting, a/c work, Sheetrock repair, plumbing, appliance installation, blind installation, etc. They manage change requests efficiently and provide cost before work is started. I trust Phil and his contractors with full access to the properties if I am not there.

The service worked mostly well, but there were some issues that were not resolved yet. We are still under the two year warranty with them. They responded very quickly the first time we called. They do small jobs. The pricing was good and also with the quality of the work. Their responsiveness during the work was very good, but it was a little bit lacking afterwards for recalls or warranty work. I probably would not use them again in the future because they are too far away. They are just spread too thin.
Description of Work: We used Houston Repair & Remodeling. They did painting, put a crown molding, refinished a small floor, replaced one window, did a pave in the patio, and baseboards. They painted the entire interior of the house including the ceilings and they had to do some key lock repair.

My husband and I looked them up and they have about 119 positive comments. I have no idea how they got that many because of the way the treated me. I have a feeling that they have found a way to circumvent Angie’s List’s system and got their friends or somebody to go online and put in positive feedback. I got other bids, a lot of them were much higher, and there was one lower. When the project started, they brought out a crew of kids. They didn’t do a really good job. They took out a window on the backside of my house and they realized that they have the wrong size. When they took the window out, they broke the glass out so they couldn’t put it back in. They had to put the incorrect window back in and shimmed it up with 2 x 4's. I wanted them to get the front door, two correct windows and the sliding patio door and put it all in one trip. Because of the way they operate, they must slope their money from one job to the next. I wasn’t willing to give them any more money. They took a month to get back to me. When they came back, it was kids again. They did a frame around the inside of my front door and they pieced it. I said that that doesn’t look right. The owner came out and yelled at the son in front of everybody instead of taking his side. I don’t know who this guy is or whose company is but I don’t think he should be on Angie’s List at all. They didn’t order my right glass. They stocked in another piece of glass and said they ordered and they’ll come back out. I kept calling and they never returned my call. There was some wrought when they took out the front window and so they fixed that for an additional amount. When the job was done, we discounted the glass because the glass they put in was wrong. They didn’t do all the painting. I gave them less than what the original bid was but they never came back. At that point, my husband and I were set up and they were probably the same way. I wanted only to have them out here on a minimal amount of time. They windows are fine. When they put the sliding patio door in and the way my house was set up, the kids didn’t realize that the sliding door needed to open from the left to the right. They put it in with its sliding from right to the left. I made them change it. He kept changing the cost on me. In the beginning, responsiveness was pretty good but in the end, it was horrible. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them.
Description of Work: I used HRR Services. My project was the front door, several windows, and a sliding patio door. They were one of the few companies who did both the windows and the doors.

This was a most stressful and disappointed experience in my WHOLE life! What a drama! It took FREAKING EIGHT months to renovate a 2000 square-foot house! And it was not yet completed!! Mr. Warwick seemed to be awfully concerned about himself instead of delivering quality and timely product as promised to me. My life was upside down due to his missing several promised completion dates. Nevertheless, I was paying the mortgage and utilities for Doliver without the benefit of living in the property as well as costing me additional living expenses elsewhere. As Mr.Warwick continually missed the promised deadlines I was forced to pursue outside options in order to complete my unnecessarily costly renovation. Mr. Warwick appeared to be "over promise" and "under deliver" and non-professional. At one time, he walked away from me. He ever stated that he would be my renovation husband and would take care of everything for me. I guessed I had been in a real bad marriage since then. As of today, he still owed me $2,300 including the material and work that he agreed upon, which were the PREPAID filtration system and installation, and the PREPAID work of changing the electrical box. My job required international travels and domestic travels during the renovation time. When I was out of town, he left my house alone with my prepayments. I was very upset and frustrated by his lack of proper supervision over the project as evidenced by several instances where mistakes were made. The picture window was not sealed properly which resulted in a serious leak. The bathroom tiles were not only installed improperly but also in the incorrect bathrooms which required reworking. The painting job had major flaws which did not represent $5,700. The gutter downspout was thrown away by mistake and never replaced resulting in excessive water draining on the electrical box, back wall and foundation. The window frame was not caulked properly(?cracked window?). The exhaust fan holes were sealed in error. And I just recently discovered that the guest room toilet water was running, I had to shut off the valve to stop it. I intended to pay a skilled worker to install the toilets, not a 19 ?year-old boy who did not seem to have the solid experience to install them. Perhaps if he would have properly supervised these and other Doliver projects his profit margins that his complain about under paid would not be so thin. I was very upset by his irresponsibility and lack of professionalism by seemingly avoiding my phone calls and not agreeing to meet with me personally at Doliver. Other examples include over-budgeted additional work discussed but never finally agreed upon. I had to push him to pick up the wood floor as it sat at the store warehouse too long due to his delay. My friend,Greg and I had to make several trips ourselves to Home Depot to pick up materials that a general contractor should normally pick up. I also questioned Mr. Warwick integrity. He priced the bathroom sink faucets for $299.99 each without any supports, it was just because I told him to buy faucets for me, and the budget was within $300 each. He kept telling me the gas line job for kitchen stove was 55% completed and charged me for 55% of $465. The true was the gas line was already in my laundry room and he did not need to move a finger to change it. Worse thing was he forgot to tell his crew to extend that gas line to the kitchen for my stove. And he quietly replaced that job with other "work" and kept my money. His tile guys refused to return to work because Mr. Warwick did not pay him. In addition, he played a bad joke by sending me an email for returning my money.
Description of Work: I conducted a whole house renovation, major projects were installing the wood floor, painting house, lifting sloping floor, installing hardy plank for the back of house and garage, changing the tiles for both bathrooms and changing the bath tub to the" stand up" shower, re-sizing and installing master bedroom windows and repairing the back wall and installing the windows, installing filtration system, changing electrical box and changing gas line for kitchen stove.

Nothing - He very quirky and is very sensitive. He also requires payment fully in advance which I suspect is a function of his available cash flow, or a lack thereof. He's good at taking your money but not to quick to respond to a simple text inquiring as to when services will be rendered.

As can be seen in my past responses, I take responsibility for things that our my fault or doing. Here is not the case, in fact this is the most flagrant abuse of this forum I have yet to see! We charge $330.00 minimum to perform any work, this is done so we don't go out do work to inspect, remove items or make discovery and then the customer decided "oh I can do that or I found a guy" which does and has happened. So this is the "full payment item". But what the AL member fails to explain is all monies paid were refunded, in full! As far as my responding, please- all AL members understand and I say this with all respect, you are not my only customer. I do my level best and I do not like to respond to texts after business hours and when it's my 22nd anniversary evening- which was the case here and I explained that to the AL member - but they continued. Sensitive maybe- this AL member has been a long time customer of ours and yes I was a bit offended in their communications and somewhat upset about the attempt to make me out as a thief, in this review and their communication- such as "I see the check was cashed". A business does not sit on checks unless the customer requests it, period. Yes AL member I did work, I dis-assembled two window slides and tension posts- I did work- I cashed the check. So after all this I decided- with out their request to return all funds- which I saw that had also been cashed- if I had cash flow problems- the check wouldn't cash. I am simply astounded that this review forum has been used as a means to extract a bit of revenge and not show all facts and actual events. I hope that as a service provider I can always do my best, I can always make all my customers happy and that I am treated equally and with respect as I strive to maintain my business and a personal life! AL members please bear in mind that we are people who are doing a job and most of us "service providers" here do a great job. If we are not provide the facts, all the facts and do reviews after a time where you can reflect and do a proper and truthful review. Regards, Phillip Warwick GM HRR Services 281-787-6108

Initial paint quote was $1800 for master bath, we settled at $900 because it was an add on and it was during slow Christmas season and I felt the initial offer was unreasonable. The tile guy used the cardboard from the tile box as spacers, so it came out a little uneven but still looks good. The carpentry was was fantastic, as was the paint. The big problem I had was that the contractor received final payment and did not complete the work. He did, however, finally repay us two months later after dragging us along with several excuses. In the meantime, he left the tub faucet and shower plumbing not complete. When he offered to refund the final payment with incomplete work, I was suspicious about the custom frameless shower door not being ordered when he said he ordered it in January. I called ARC glass and they told me he called but his credit card did not go through. I guess it is my fault for feeling sorry for him when he cut his hand and still tried to work to get partial payment to pay his workers. He did put up two light fixtures for free, but left the major plumbing undone and took final payment for almost three months. When we had plumbers finish the work they said he used galvanized fitting against brass fitting and had to redo the work. Lesson learned: trust no one and make final payment when work is completed, even if they are bleeding and desperate.
Description of Work: Tile shower and marble Jacuzzi tub demolition and remodel. Debris removal, moisture remediation to shower joists, added insulation in shower walls, installed hardi backer board to shower walls, applied liquid membrane entire surface of shower walls and added tub subfloor, built custom shower pan, and replaced shower light fixture. Installed conversion light kit and customer supplied chandelier over customer supplied tub. Installed customer supplied shower tile. Installed customer supplied wainscoting/trim and painted entire bathroom using customer supplied paint. Textured water closet walls and removed large mirror and texture wall behind mirror. Installed two customer supplied light fixtures and recessed can light covers. Attempted to install customer supplied freestanding tub faucet.

A full requested refund was given to this customer in 2013, we made mistakes and owned up to them as all good people do. He requested the costs back and other fees which we gladly refunded a great many months ago. Also this review posted many months ago and was different as it did reflect the refund and now unless I am mistaken the fact that the refund was issued and has cleared in March of 2013 has been omitted, which is concerning and confusing. I am assuming this AL member is harboring some long standing ill will since this review was amended and changed a day ago. Please be clear that all people and groups make mistakes, it,s how the mistakes are handled that counts. This AL member listed out his terms to make it right and I complied, that should be what is important and be the end of it. So in conclusion, we admit our mistakes, we complied with their requests to correct them, we hope that this can now be behind all of us. Regards, HRR Services
Called provider 9/29/14. Received courteous service over phone from Catalina who setup appointment to have owner, Phillip Warwick, come by later the same day to see what I wanted done and provide a quote. Mr. Warwick showed up when he was supposed to and he took the time to fully understand my needs and even offer advice on how to fix a couple things myself. After about 60 minutes going from room to room and explaining everything, Mr. Warwick wrote up the quote. Several days later, I had my down payment check ready to go (I was to pay half up front and pay the rest when the work was completed). I asked Mr. Warwick to provide me with a certificate of insurance and bond. Mr. Warwick sent me an email yesterday (10/2/14) that had a copy of the insurance certificate attached to it but no bond certificate. I asked again to see the certificate of bond but he replied back saying that he was bonded for commercial and not for residential but that he could provide customer references who could attest to his character. This morning I was supposed to give my $2,000 down payment for the work so I called the insurance provider listed on the certificate to verify the insurance was legitimate. The insurance agency said that the Policy number from the certificate was from 2005 and was under some other person's name. The agency also said that their (the agency) address listed on the certificate was over 5 years old. Furthermore, the agency said that the only record they had of Mr. Warwick in their system was a request on 10/2/14 (the day I received the emailed "certificate") for a policy quote. The agent confirmed that Mr. Warwick is not insured by them. The agent asked that I send them the copy of the certificate, which I promptly did. I received a call back a few minutes later from the insurance agent who stated that the certificate was fraudulent. On closer inspection it is evident the certificate dates had all been updated on strips of paper and taped to an old document and re-copied. Later in the day, I received another email from the Principal Agent of the insurance company who reaffirmed the certificate was a fake and that Mr. Warwick is not insured by their company. I then spoke to Catalina and said I would not be using Houston Repair and Remodeling after all due to the insurance document being fake. Catalina apologized. Soon after, Mr. Warwick called me and apologized, too. Very disappointed in how this turned out. I had a good feeling about this company initially and was literally minutes away from giving them $2k. I am very glad I did my homework and checked for myself on the validity of the insurance document. I would strongly advise other Angie's List members to always do the same and would caution against using Houston Repair & Remodeling.
As a business owner it is my responsibility to keep all documents in order and proper, with this I didn't and accept that this is my fault. I understand this AL members concerns and I can assure all AL members it won't happen again. I encourage any AL member to do their due diligence and check up on me and other service providers. That's what AL is about, so see my reviews from the passed and please look for future great reviews as this is not our norm. Lastly I will make all efforts with myself, my office and staff to rectify this error and assure my AL community that HRR Services will provide superior service and a commitment to an overall great job.

We have worked with Phil for years, and have had many repairs and installations done at our house. We looked for a handyman for a long time that we could trust (after being ripped off a couple of times), and we feel we can trust Phil with our repair work. We leave a key for him when he comes, and he takes care of everything while we're at work.
Description of Work: Repaired (re-installed) doorbell and ordered a replacement part for our cooktop (will be installed when it comes in).
Initial phone call was quickly responded to and appointment setup. There was a mixup and nobody showed up to look at job and to quote. HOWEVER, the owner quickly responded to phone call concerning missed appointment, asked for pictures of damage to be sent to him and quickly provided a very fair quote! His girl Friday met me at my office in the middle of a thunderstorm to go over the contract and get the 50% upfront payment. I REALLY appreciated this! The workman showed up about an hour later than scheduled, however, this is completely understandable since the company has meetings in the morning. The workmen were fantastic. Neat and orderly and they worked hard. It was a 2 day job and each day they worked well into the evening. I have other jobs I would like to have done in the house and when the moneys are available, I will definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: removed water damaged floor in upstairs bathroom. Removed laminate flooring. Replaced base flooring and installed ceramic tile. Patched up hole in garage also caused by water damage. Caulked and replaced trim.
My husband is very ill and the first thing he wanted was a shower, but we did not have a handicap shower, so I called Phillip and he came over right away, gave me an estimate and started right away. He called later and told me the glass was going to cost more, but my husband will not be with us much longer so I don't care how much it costs, he wants a shower. It took several days and I was impressed with the work his man was doing. The next thing was painting my office. He had 3 men come in and do the work. They were very neat, cleaned up afterwards and did an excellent job. I kept thinking of more things I wanted done, so as they finished one project, I added another. They did an excellent job on each project. Phillip was in and out frequently checking with me and checking on his men. Everything is finished except installing the glass for the shower and the "glass man" will do that shortly. He is not cheap, but if you want it done right the first time, Phillip's crew can do it. AND, I have learned the hard way "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR." I highly recommend Phillip Warwick, Houston Repair and Remodeling.
Description of Work: Enlarged masterbath and converted to handicap bath. Installed security light. Painted office. Researched yard light outage and repaired. Replaced builder door knobs (14yr old) and rekeyed all locks to match. Installed lock on office door where there was no lock before. This required drilling holes in door as well as the door frame above the door.

We contracted for this work in early April and wrote a check for $5100 at the outset. At the time, HRR Services was supposed to be finishing up the interior remodel of our home (they are still working on that as of the date of this review). HRR's manager Phillip Warwick pushed hard for the roofing job. When I expressed concern about timing and finishing up the interior of the home, he stated that he had a completely different crew that would do the roof job, and it would not interfere with the interior remodel. We were slated to move into the home in early June and expected the roof to be underway at that point. Unfortunately, HRR did not start on the roof job until July, and did not finish until August 8th. Though the finished product looks fine (we'll see how it holds up over the next few years), I was very disappointed when it turned out that there was not a separate crew for the roof, and that the crew members who had been working on the interior of the house were taken out onto the roof for several weeks (further postponing the completion of the interior remodel). I wish I had been told this initially. I will say that the price we received for the roof was good, as Phillip was willing to price match another quote we got, and gave the standard 5 year warranty on labor). However, I felt like the price match made us a lower-priority job for him, and caused some of the delay we had to deal with.
Description of Work: Re-shingled entire roof of house.

We contracted for this work in June 2014. At the time, HRR Services was doing other work on our home, and Phillip (the manager) encouraged my husband to use HRR for the A/C replacement. We were told that the replacement would be in after a week, two weeks at the most. Because we were assured a quick installation and were told that the installation would not interfere with the other work going on at the house, we agreed. We went through almost all of July, over a month, before the new unit was installed. And this happened only after I followed up multiple times with Phillip. Phillip first told me that his installer was busy, and then wasn't returning phone calls. Phillip ended up using one of his crew members to install the unit. Though the installation went smoothly, it took away from time that the crew could have been spending on the other repairs to the house. And after the unit was installed it needed repairs. Those were addressed promptly after we notified HRR. HRR would receive a better rating overall if not for the significant delay in installation and the unreliability of its outside AC installer. We did like the crew member (Marcus) who ended up performing the installation.
Description of Work: Removed broken AC unit and installed new unit.

Once finished with the rain delays of the previous week, since a door replacement was involved, they came in and completed the repair items on my list in one day. I was very pleased with this and it was well worth waiting out the rain delays. Damien and Oscar were pleasant, focused on their tasks and could easily see they enjoy doing what they do. I very much appreciated Phillip taking the time to listen and then recommend a good material cost solution as opposed to going high end materials and pushing my costs higher than necessary. Julie, the Chief Admin Officer, kept me informed through email, text and phone calls from start to finish. HRR is a class act, and I will use again in the future without hesitation.
Description of Work: Phillip and his crew, Damien & Oscar replaced my backdoor & door frame, replaced a sink top in the spare bathroom, repaired a crack in the ceiling and tweaked my front door. They came in around 10 am and were finished and cleaned up by 5:15 pm. Professionalism; a "say what we do, do what we say" company.

The team was very prompt and expedient. They finished both jobs timely but with care. You can see above as to what services they provided. They do require a deposit which is normal and they provide warranties on their work. We would definitely use them again for future projects we have on our home.
Description of Work: HRR put in shelves in a closet that was not made for linens but we felt was better suited for that and our storage needs. We have a new build home and the shelves look like they came with the house. They did an excellent job on those. They also stained our fence which was the majority of the cost of service above. We felt it was a good quote after talking with others and they used a petroleum based product at our request that is safer and has a longer warranty life. They put several coats on the fence.

The spring on my attic stair assembly was broken and the stairs would not stay up without screwing it shut. It was not repairable. Phillip showed up on time with his assistant and was very pleasant and professional. They replaced the stair assembly with a metal one that can be repaired if there is a problem. They also put in a new attic door in the ceiling and painted everything. I was totally happy with their work and will be using them for a laundery list of handyman and honey-do jobs. They do everything except garage doors.

I enjoyed Phillip and his team. His employees were professional and they are punctual with time which is very important to me. His son Spencer and other contractors did a good job and his assistant Julie is very good with scheduling and keeping you up to date. They did do touch-ups with no problems. They cleaned after their job very well. I did notice some paint that settled in the wood and will probably asked them to do touch ups when I have them work on future jobs. I will definitely use HRR again. I felt a sense of comfort around them and as a mom with 3 young kids, I don't just let anyone into my homes or hire people in my business to do work if I feel they are not good people. I hope to be working with him again with my future remodeling.

It was fine. The guy I dealt with was very friendly. It was Phillip Warwick. He was just very friendly and helpful. I was looking in to some roll shades and he answered some questions for me on it. It was more informative. I was looking at a couple of different things.
Description of Work: Houston Repair & Remodeling answered some questions for me.
The service turned out fine. They did a good job as far as giving the quote and getting the job finished. They were not very good at clean up and I did have to mention to them that the workers were leaving foot prints in my home. They did clean up after I mentioned that to them. They left some outlet covers off and other little items like that. They did get the work done and I would hire them again. The man who owns it is very fair and they are very easy to talk to, you just have to watch over the workers to complete the job. Phillip the owner came out and gave a fair price for the work and he came in and told me what needed to be done and he introduced the workers. He is very accessible and he takes care of any issue's that arise. He is willing to negotiate on the price if it is needed to fit in a budget. Phillip is top notch to work with. They did hit a water line while doing the work on the garage and they did patch up that as I was not home at the time and they called right away to let me know of the issue. I have had no issue's with that since that time. They are bonded and insured and I felt totally comfortable with the workers being in my home when I was not there, they did a good job overall.
Description of Work: I had a one car garage and they transformed that in to a two car garage. They put in some hardwood flooring in a room that was adjacent to the garage. I bought this house and the garage had been previously changed from a two car garage to a one car garage and it was not in compliance with codes. They put up a wall and they moved some electrical outlets and wiring. They painted that wall as well. They ran speaker wire for me as well and that is why I initially called.

Everything was done in a timely manner. Only complaint is that I was charged more to hang the chandeliers than what the actual chandeliers cost.
Description of Work: Hung chandeliers onto high ceilings.
