FLAGSTONE CONCRETE

Jim Ellis and his two additional man crew was scheduled to arrive at 7:30 am this morning (9/8/14) and did arrive at 7:28 am. I was impressed. Things then got even better. They removed the damage part of my driveway, dug the area deeper than it was originally, and then installed rebars. Then applied the new concrete. The job looks great and stronger than ever before. Jim Ellis not only supervised the job he actually was the main laborer on the job. He did everything exactly as he promised when he first looked at the site and gave me a bid on the job. I couldn't be happier. Would recommend him in a second.

The owner Jim Ellis was very polite and professional when we first met and discussed the work. The scope of his bid was very detailed and very professional. He struck me as a man who wanted to provide high quality service at the best price. I chose him to do the work over another lower priced bid for these reasons. He worked at the job site everyday and personally supervised the work. Always very cordial and explained what he was going to be doing over the course of each day. His crew was very polite and worked hard. Would have finished sooner if it had not been for the weather and some minor permitting issues with the city. Cleaned up the work area and and resodded the areas around the driveway. I would definitly would use him again. The driveway looks great!

I am very pleased with the work Flagstone Concrete (Jim Ellis) did with my driveway. The driveway now looks great! The old driveway had cracked and buckled because of nearby pine tree roots Jim Ellis - the owner - is very experienced, and gave a detailed contract with multiple references, so I was confident in choosing him. . As part of the prep work they cut out a bunch of roots and put in a metal bar to block the roots from encroaching back. I was extremely pleased with how well the crew cleaned up the area afterward. I had previously done quite a bit of landscaping and was concerned about damage, but they were very careful and put back the landscaping rocks and re-sodded along the driveway. They took away every bit debris and even did a great job cleaning the street. I could tell that all the workers, and Jim, were conscientious and took pride in doing a good job.

I got his name off the magazine that Angie's List sent, and I then went online and checked out the reviews before calling him. He gave me a bid a couple of days later, and we made an agreement, and he said he would do it within the next two weeks weather permitting because we had been having some more rain. He came to look at the area, and talk about the paint and all and then he came the next day and did it. He did a beautiful job, I love my patio. He went over beyond what we had actually agreed on doing. He extended a little more and didn't charge me for it. I thought it was nice. I watched him do the construction and he did good construction. I would highly recommend him, and we will use him again.

Jim came out to give us a bid and was the best price by far. He pulled up tree roots that caused damage to the driveway and put in barriers to keep them from coming back. After the concrete dried his crew cleaned up and laid down some fresh sod where they had to dig. It looks even better than before. The price Jim quoted was what we paid. He's honest and trustworthy. I will call him for any future concrete needs.

IF ONLY HE NEVER RETIRES Background: I interviewed 9 concrete services. During the search, Flagstone concrete was recommended to us by a coworker. We searched for Flagstone concrete on angie's list and thought the A's might be a hint that he knows what he's doing...so we talked and asked him for an estimate too. at the end of our search, we received 7 estimates, 3 never sent us theirs. estimates ranging from $1100-$1200 for a patio slab of 29x23, more or less. Jim's estimate came 3 days after our meeting and he sent it handwritten by snail mail. His estimate contained line items for everything he would do. coupled by the reviews on Angie's list, with a coworker's recommendation, AND mostly, Jim's sincerity and no fluff way of describing the work as he surveyed the site, we went with Jim for our patio pour. From the first day to the last day of work, Jim and his crew did EXACTLY what they say they would. to me, This shows integrity and commitment. What i also noticed is Jim's crew were happy with each other and WITH JIM! they watch out for him like...a dad...it's really awesome to see. Jim in turn takes care of them like his kids or pals. His crew, Antonio, David, Johnathan, Wilber (these guys came everyday), and several others who came for the start and the pour, WERE AMAZING! they are hard working guys. they pay attention to details and the level of precision they put into the work is more than what i dared hope for. My experience with a few different services in the past where well intended promises were made at the time of the estimate, but when the job starts, compromises would find their way into the quality of the work. NONE like that with Jim and his team. THEY DID WHAT THEY SAY THEY WOULD DO! The guys kept themselves tidy and respectful of our home. when the job was done, they left our home like it was, probably cleaner :o), plus the new slab which they cleaned and display like it has always been an integrated part of our ba ck yard. AMAZING! I can't say enough about Jim and his crew. One thing for sure, WE WILL ALWAYS ASK Jim to come back for any work in the future!!!!

We had 42 feet of our driveway replaced down to the street. It was a professional job from start to finish and the driveway looks great. They were on time, met deadlines and cleaned up to perfection before they left. I would highly recommend this company.

The crew knew exactly what was to be done. Came when they said they would start work in AM, completed work on time that was estimated to take. Driveway required working around water pipe - we didn't know they would have this issue to deal with. Took a little extra time to work around the pipe but didn't effect agreed upon cost. Cleaned up yard, foreman went over work that had been done.

Our driveway had several sections with big cracks. Jim Ellis came out to take a look and suggested how he could replace the least square footage. He made sure we understood exactly what he was planning to do. He made the lowest bid and we hired him. He and his team worked quickly and professionally and cleaned up perfectly afterwards. There was no damage to our lawn or mess of any kind. I would recommend Flagstone Concrete and would use them again.

Not only did they show up on time, but they were even early which was great! They removed the concrete and Mr. Ellis even used a little fill dirt he had in his truck to help level it out. They did a fantastic job and were in and out quickly. I wish everybody has his work ethic. I will definitely call him if we need any other concrete service. Thank you!

They were punctual, clean, friendly, and worked hard and meticulously to make sure the slab was flawless. I was hesitant to have the project done, but now that it is finished and I see the result - I realize I should have had Flagstone come a long time ago. I would recommend this company for any similar project. Jim obviously has a lot of experience and good advice and recommendations.

Jim Ellis called back the same day that I left the message. He came by for a quote when he said he would and was very thorough in making sure he knew exactly what I wanted and explaining the process of what he would be doing, how long it would take and how much it would be. I had purchased the flagstone from a third party from Craigslist, and he said I got a really good price. We were in a little bit of a deadline because I was hosting my daughter's engagement party, and I needed the work completed by a certain date. He was very busy, but he said he could do it in the next ten days to two weeks and have it done by the time I needed it. The quote he gave was about the same or less than what other quotes were for other contractors on Angie's List, and he had really good reviews, so I went with him. Plus, he gave me 5% off the price he quoted me for being an Angie's List member! He assured me that the people that work for him are very good at what they do and even said one of his guys is like an artist! He showed up when he said he would with his crew to do the work. The guy he used to set up the form of the patio was very creative with the shape design and made sure I was happy with what it would look like before they started. The way he did the shape was an even better idea than I had planned out. It took several days, like Jim had said, and his crew showed up and worked hard every day. I was so impressed with how well it turned out when they were finished! You could tell it had been done by a professional. The flagstone walk that they put in from the porch to the garage also looked really nice. My neighbors that have come over have all said how nice it looks and have asked for his name, which I was happy to give them. The patio was completed before my daughter's engagement party, and it worked out great! I wouldn't hesitate to call Jim again!

our concrete back patio was old and ugly - Jim Ellis and crew dug up the old concrete and replace with new - extended the 10x10 patio to 22x12 of clean white concrete and leveled so as rain water would run off. The job was professional and he was hands on the entire time. Cane back to check and put sod around the patio edges to smooth out with the yard.

The crew did an excellent job. The extension blends seamlessly with the preexisting patio. When they sealed the new flagstone, they also sealed the flagstone on the existing patio and did not charge extra for that work.

They were very punctual and arrived on time when they said would be here. they did a better job than the original contractors, and didn't leave a mess! I am very pleased with this service, and I highly recommend them.

Jim showed up and on time on the date of the work. He completed it on time and I could not be more happy with what he did.

Jim Ellis of Flagstone Concrete replaced a section of driveway for me. He called me back promptly, was straightforward and honest doing what he said for the price he quoted. He was a pleasure to deal with. Excellent job and not the lowest quote, but he was quite a bit lower than my highest quote. I'll call him for future jobs.

Flagstone was great, Jim Ellis was great to work with. This was the best contractor I have every worked with. It was really great service, professional and prompt. Jim paid great attention to all the details of the job. Flagstone cut out a truck load of roots from under our driveway where the pine trees had pushed up the concrete. I would 100% use flagstone again, it was good old fashion service.

Mr. Ellis supervised and assisted in performing the work which was done in a timely and professional manner. In addition to the work in the estimate, Mr.. Ellis provided extras I did not expect. I would recommend Flagstone Concrete to anyone looking for an excellent contractor and I would use him again if needed.

The very polite crew started work on June 6th. First they moved bull rock from the side of the house. removed concrete pavers across the back of the kitchen, and dug out the area for a 3 foot sidewalk from the back of the house to the lake. The areas were then formed up very carefully. The layout was presented for our approval and any changes we might want to make. We were totally satisfied. The foundation including reinforcing re-bar, tied together, was mixed and installed, leveled all the way. The next step was the laying of the flagstone. The work of the masons was like watching artists at work. Each piece was thoughtfully places. After the flagstone was laid out, it was carefully mortared into place, leveled and squared as they went. The sidewalk was then grouted, sharp edges were sanded, and the sides were mortared smooth. The final step was sealing the 131 feet!. The crew cleaned up the work site, cleaning off our driveway every day before they left. The final clean up included filling a whole from a rotted tree stump with left over sand including digging out rotten wood and grading the area!, moving the remaining bull rock to our bulkhead and evening it all out. They loaded the flagstone from our previous little walkway, first moving it to our driveway in the front of the house. When they came to pick the extra flagstone from the job, they also loaded up the old flagstone and delivered it my daughter's house 3 blocks away, placing it all neatly stacked in her backyard! They are scheduled to replace my daughter's driveway next week.
