Creekstone Outdoors

The job went extremely well. Sam and his team did a awesome job on the construction of the pergola, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit. We had them build the kitchen and fire pit out of stone that matched our house and install outside stainless steel cabinets, gas grill, side burner, and refrigerator. The project came out just as we expected. We are using the kitchen daily and love how it turned out.

Sam did an awesome job of making this large project as stress free as possible. Any issue that arose was handled quickly and professionally. Emails and phone calls were returned promptly. His design team was able to turn our ideas into reality. We now have a beautiful addition to our home that we will enjoy for many years to come. We will definitely use Creekstone Outdoors for our next project.

This is the first poor review I have ever submitted during my many years as an Angie's List customer. Our experience with Creekstone Outdoors was extremely frustrating and disappointing. There were so many problems throughout the month long process to build our small outdoor kitchen. First, when I initially met with the owner I requested that the stone used to house the grill and refrigerator match the existing stone of our house. We understand that variances in stone color are not unusual between different loads of the same stone and an exact match cannot be guaranteed. But the color and texture of the stone they used is not even close to that used on our house. Second, there was almost no supervision of the subcontractors used in our project. It was not unusual for subcontractors to not show up as scheduled. We certainly understood that the heavy rain that occurred during one week in early June would inevitably lead to scheduling delays. But there were far more days in June without rain than with rain and the weather does not excuse the lack of supervision and errors in workmanship that exacerbated the delays. Throughout the entire process the owner visited the site only one time and only after my husband and I voiced our frustrations. He never even bothered to come here to view and inspect the final product. Third, some of the subcontractors were both incompetent and careless. For example, the mason made mistakes that resulted in delays to the process. He spilled acid that killied the grass in a large swath of our backyard. The delays he caused resulted in the trench that was dug to lay the gas and electrical lines to remain open for an unusually extended period of time. The heavy rain during that one week washed away most of the dirt and sod so that there was not enough of either to restore the grade of the lawn. This meant we had a long gulley in our side yard that directed rain water to the foundation of our house. In fairness, the owner did send a landscaper to restore the sod in the both the back and side yards. But not without resentment on his part. On multiple occasions he made it clear that he did not feel it was his responsibility to restore the side yard and was only doing it as a "favor" to us. In his opinion he really was not responsible for the erosion caused by the rain. I have had many trenches dug in my years as a homeowner for cable, electric, gas, etc. I have never had this happen. In our opinion, this kind of damage would never have occurred if the mason had completed the job properly and in a timely manner so that the trench would not have been exposed for such a long period of time. In the end, this goes back to poor supervision of the subcontractors. And finally, there was a consistent lack of respect for our property by many of the subcontractors. The fabric on our patio furniture was stained. I had to clean up debris and mud constantly. (Again, in fairness, the owner did send someone once to power wash our exterior hard surfaces.) Some of the subcontractors disposed of material debris in the empty lot next door that had to be cleaned up. Overall, while the grill and refrigerator are functional, the job performed is hardly consistent with the cost of the project. Considering the difference in the stone texture and the large acid spill in the yard, we are left to wonder if the stone was ever even acid washed as promised. This project was a disappointment from beginning to end.

I met with Sam at my residence in order to receive a bid for a patio renovation. Sam arrived on time, armed with a portfolio of past work. He listened intently to what I was trying to accomplish, and then provided candid and friendly advice to make it happen. He was up front with his suggested for costlier and cheaper alternatives, but he never veered into "shortcut" or "shoddy" solutions. I receive an itemized bid a few days after our initial visit. It was competitive with the other bids that I collected. I ultimately decided to use a different contractor, but wouldn't hesitate to contact Creekstone when I need a contractor in the future. No complaints.

It went excellent. They used quality materials and finished the product in a timely manner. They coordinated with my pool company in order adequately build in conjunction with the decking and water hookups.
