They were on time and gave me the estimate on time. They were friendly and did a very good job. The workers were good. They were very professional and communicated well. I've got some other work that they will be doing. I am waiting for that.
Description of Work: I used Carnival Custom Painting for painting and sheetrock work. They did some texture repair and painted in the living room.

Ron came out and gave estimate. Which I thought was very reasonable. They started work that monday. I did not expect the drive way, and patio to be power wahed, so that was a surprise. I had a previous company well known in my area. In one day, they cleaned and painted the house. When the painter left I felt that I had just received a light coverage of paint to make the house look good, but I felt very unsure of the quality of work. They did not do the power washing of the driveway, patio, so I did not expect this, nor did they address the front door. NOT WITH THIS TEAM! They were great! The next day they spend a lot of time addressing the repairs need, and took the time to answer my questions, so I could understand why they used wood on the trim and not Hardie, and any other concerns. They used 3 coats of paint on the outside of my house, and painted touched interior bathroom. I did not feel that theis was a rush job, but that they took time, and did high quality work. The trim was a little off in the front. The team worked with me and tried to adjust it to my satisfaction. After a couple of days, I recalled Ron and told his I still wasn't quite happy with the front trim, his team came out the next business day and addressed my concern. The house looks great, and I feel this time I really received great work, that will now last. My only suggestion is my backyard does not drain as well, so after the power washing the back yard was torn up with all the work they did. Ron assured me that this would be fine, and self resove. If your backyard does not drain as well you might want to wait, till we are in a time when it does not rain as much to let your yoar dry out better>

We took the Big Deal offered by Angie's List of $140.00 for up to 4 hours of drywall/painting labor, and on the following Monday, Ron Forest of Carnival Custom Painting came by to see the job. The next day (12/28/2010), two of his men came and performed the work, repairing both ceilings in only two hours and 5 minutes. They did a great job!
Description of Work: Two textured drywall ceilings were repaired from water damage due to leaking pipe in attic (each damaged area was approximately 1 ft. by 2 ft.). We provided the matching paint.

Ron came out to my home and provided me a quote on the spot for the paint job and replacement of the rotted wood which I found very reasonable. I had an idea what color I wanted it painted but I asked him for some options on the color selection. He came back later and left me a color chart with several options. I made my pick and scheduled a date for the work. Ron said he would send someone out the day before to power wash the wood in preparation for the new paint. I was surprised to see when I came home that he had power washed the exterior brick, walkways and patio along with the wood. It looked great! The next day they replaced the bad wood, painted the wood & garage door and replaced old air vents under the eaves. I?m very happy with Ron?s service from beginning to end and the house looks brand new!

They did all the removal of pictures, moved furniture, covered entire area in plastic and taped it down. Repairs and prep work took most of a day, with some painting done. Returned next day to complete painting trim and cleaning up. Replaced furniture and pictures. second day was a half day. There were no drip marks and sheetrock repairs were barely visible on living room wall where texture could not be duplicated. I was extremely pleased with the results and well worth the price.
Description of Work: repaired sheetrock on two end walls of kitchen counter. repaired sheetrock on 3 foot section of living room wall. replaced studs and sheetrock of entryway ceiling damaged by water. Prepped all areas prior to painting (sanding, priming, etc.). Painted the two end walls next to kitchen counter, and two kitchen doors; painted all trim in living room;painted large wall in livingroom after sheetrock repair; painted entire ceiling in living room and entry way;painted walls ceiling and trim in short hallway and did same in small shower area.
Showed up on time and finished ahead of schedule with the large scope of work that was to be done. I am very pleased with the crew as they cleaned up each night and did an awesome job. Need my kitchen and cabinets done and will definitely have them back. Well worth the price and job was completed in less than two days.
Description of Work: Removed old wallpaper from dining room, patched walls, installed crown moldings, stained bar cabinets/fireplace mantle/stair handrail dark mahogany for a more updated look, painted living room, dining room, halls, entry and up stairs (two story) ceilings and walls as well as priming and painting all woodwork. Used oil based enamel on all woodwork for a flawless smooth look.

We bought a 10 year old home. We had a very short window to get moved and get it ready for us to live in as we were moving from overseas back to the US. Carnival was able to start paining almost immediately and they finished very quickly. They did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend them and already have to my friends. In fact, I am using them to paint my old house since they did such a great job on our new house. They were punctual and very fast. They completed our whole home (4000 sq ft) in 5 days. Their workmanship is very high quality and they were very eager to ensure we were satisfied. They gladly redid certain areas that we weren't initially pleased with (we wanted the caulk lines straighter for example). They kept us very well informed on the progress and timing and were flexible on what rooms they did first so it make it easier for us to unpack critical items. We had some crown molding work done by another company. Big mistake as they did a poor job. We have now called Carnival to come help us fix this since we are so pleased with their work. I highly recommend Carnival -- I will continue to use them for all my future painting needs.
Description of Work: They painted our entire house interior (4000 sq feet) and we required multiple colors.

Ron was very professional during the bidding process and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. We felt very comfortable with him doing the job. He estimated the job to take 2 days. It took them 3 1/2 days and after that time, the paint job looked sloppy and unprofessional at best. Ron admitted that the work did not reflect his usual quality and told us the crew would come back again to fix everything. After the second time they painted (another 2 1/2 days), the quality was much better and looked like the job we had wanted. We had a few items on a punch list that needed to be addressed - areas that needed touch up. Ron told us that he was done with the job and would not address on going punch lists. We felt this was unfair and unprofessional, considering satisfaction was promised ahead of time and that this was our first real punch list after they finished the job properly. So, after spending $3800, we have to do touch ups on our own. But the most frustrating and disappointing part was the amount of damaged furniture and sloppy paint spills left behind on our belongings. Their website lists specific steps they follow in the painting process, including covering all furniture in the area, prepping, caulking and filling in holes, and using primer. They did not cover any furniture the first time they painted and got grease on a couch and paint on other furniture. The second time they painted, they covered furniture in the family room, but no other room. They only caulked and filled holes when we requested it, and only in the areas we pointed out. They did not primer at all, which is why we are still having issues with paint coverage. They did not properly move furniture, instead one man dragged, pushed, or pulled the heavy furniture, damaging several pieces. They attempted to fix a few of the pieces (only actually fixing one) but denied having done the damage on others. Overall, the paint job was OK - would have been very happy with it if they would have addressed our punch list. But the disregard and lack of care with our furnishings was very disappointing.
Description of Work: Painting interior oil based trim. The trim originally was taupe and we wanted it painted white throughout the whole house. Included interior doors, trim, window sills, baseboards, crown molding, built in book shelves and cabinets, and fireplace mantle. Also had them repair and re-texture dry wall in family room and re-paint the walls.

The original quote was for 3-4 days. When we arrived day 1 she asked to add additional work to the project. We did and stayed with our estimate of 3- 4 day completion. The home was completed and it was time for walk thru and punch out. Her husband was not available and she was busy. She then stated that they would look over everything and let us know. I was more than willing to come back for any t-ups that may have been necessary. It explains in the paperwork, the punch list procedure. When we received the punch list they told us they would be leaving town for vacation. We were told that we could resume work when they got back in a week. The husband never called to say they were back, so I called him several times to schedule the following week. I talked with him and they had a party at the house that weekend so we would have to wait another week. The punch list was delayed 15 days. This is not a standard. At 3pm on day 16, we worked till 6pm and then prepared to come back the following day to finish up. We took our time to ensure perfection and homeowner happiness. I walked thru the entire house and looked at every punch item to ensure ultimate satisfaction. The trim had some flashing in some areas and is sometimes hard to see in low light and while it's still wet. I explained that's why we guarantee all work performed and a punch list. The list was simple however with semi-gloss paint you can not just touch up. The sheen wont match, we usually just brush the area again and we did. We offered to repaint the front door for free for any inconvenience. The homeowner said yes, so we did. We took 1.3 days to address any punch list items and we were told all looked great. I then tried to call the customer many times to collect final payment. I was finally called back and told the check was waiting under the doormat. The customer then put a letter in the envelope that stated he was deducting money from the project. This is not a standard practice nor is it acceptable to deduct from money owed. He held our Angie’s list service rating over our heads during the entire process. We as a company tried very hard to satisfy the customer. We went above and beyond for him. The customer had several dings in the baseboards and trim prior to our start. I explained in the beginning that we would fill any large voids of wood, however we are only painting the wood not replacing it. We were told that a bed post was broken off the bed when it was moved. I checked the piece and took pictures. The screw sleeve was unscrewed from the factory. It was not broken and we fixed the pre-existing condition. The job was conducted in a professional manner and completed. We at no time damaged any furniture or belongings, the sofa in question was covered by the customer with there own drop cloths prior to us starting the job. Regards, Ron

Very professional owner and staff. On time all the time. Finished the job in 2 days but I didn't have access in/out of the house for my dogs because the decks were wet. The painter offered to leav a portion unfinished for us to walk on and come back the next day to finish that area once the other areas were dry. That type of service is unusual these days.

They came on time and power washed. The only unfortunate incident was that a rain storm came in while they were working on the chimney wood. They left a little of a mess since they had to suddenly leave and since it looked like another day of rain I cleaned it up. When informed of this the proprietor did tell his painting team and in fact they reduced my cost $100 essentially paying for my labor to clean the area up. I was very impressed with this and already started talking about internal work and estimated cost.
Description of Work: Exterior power washing of paintable areas, totally redo chimney wood to hardi plank and change all other areas that could rot to hardi and caulk (this was about $400 of cost), paint house and garage, fix garage frame that was getting hit by door. Also as a "free" extra they painted all the house vents on the roof black and repainted the metal above the windows. It's a very nice look on the roof.

Carnival came to give us a quote, which was slightly lower than other quotes we had had. Ron arrived promptly and was very professional. We were having other work done as well, and he was willing to schedule us based on when the other work would be completed (i.e. he was there within two days of our other project's completion). They arrived early, and finished earlier than planned. Ron did the final check, and actually had them check things we hadn't noticed. The workers were completely unobtrusive and did a beautiful job.

I collected 6 estimates and this was the second to least expensive. Excellent value for money. They did a good job with the paint and overall I'm happy with the work. The are very friendly, professional and responsive. The only thing I would say is that you need to be comfortable with letting them know what you aren't happy with -- they happily came back to fix everything I requested, which I appreciated, but I did have to request this twice. The details are where I was a little disapointed - for example the porch swing wasn't rehung, and after asking them to do this it was rehung very crooked. Cleanup was also not as thorough as hoped - there is still a lot of old paint on the ground all around the house. Other than this though - great job on the paint and great value for money. My house is very old (100 years) and I also had them replace wood siding prior to painting. The old siding had a lot of bubbled/peeling paint and old bubbled caulk in between the boards that needed to be cleaned up. I didn't expect things to look like new and understood the limits to what they had agreed to do (contract said: peel and sand peeling/cracked paint), however I was still a little disappointed with the level of attention to this prep work. Again, when I asked them to fix things afterwards they did so happily - but once the work is complete there is naturally a limit to how much can be 'fixed'. Overall - am happy with the work and think they are great value for what they charge. I would definitely hire them again to paint. If I had the wood work / prep of the exterior to do again though, I'm not sure if I would.

Consulted Angieslist for best reviews of painters. Selected 3. Ron was the best bid. He presented a very attractive color folder about his company along with the estimate. In the estimate, materials and labor were broken down into 2 catagories. His company offers a 3 year guarantee. I was impressed and reassured by that. He gave me his opinion of the colors I had selected, at my request. We arranged a date, and his crew was prompt, courteous and efficient. He had to work around quite a bit of rain. He called frequently and came by to check the progress of the job. When I noticed a rotted place they had missed, he sent a crew to correct the problem quickly. All of the work was done to my satisfaction and I have a pretty "old" house. I highly recommend this company.

It went very well. Brian came out months ago to do his bid & waited very patiently until other work was completed so we could start the interior repairs & painting. He came at the start of the work and walked through everything again with the crew. He saw lots of details that needed to be attended to as part of their overall work. The crew did an amazing job. Brian got paint color matched to help it blend in & save us from repainting entire rooms. We had one small paint splash on a kitchen blind, fabric, that we could not get out. Brian worked with me so that I was completely satisfied with our decision on how to detail with the damage. He told me it would not be right until I was satisfied. Brian checked in. Crew did touch up work as we found small areas. Left over paint was left for us for future use/fix up. We will gladly use Brian again the next time (and it will be soon) we need any painting or dry wall repair work done. Kudos all around!
Description of Work: I had some sheet rock repair done. That had to be repainted. I had water stain damage on ceiling & walls from plumbing leaks & Hurricane Ike, those needed repainting. Exterior metal entrance gate & wooden front door in poor condition, needed repainting. Garage door needed repainting.

It was fantastic. The estimate was quick and professional but most importantly on-time. The day of the work the crew showed up promptly. They worked so fast and finished up in one day! I am so impressed and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I called and left a message on a Wednesday morning about project. Ron called me back within 15 minutes and set up appointment to come by that afternoon. He showed up right on time for estimate appointment. He looked over the house and offered suggestion on how easiest and inexpensively to update the mantle. He then when out to his vehicle and worked up the estimate. Within 15 minutes later I had a printed out estimate of the work along with some additional info on company which explained the costs in detail room by room and task by task. No pressure was applied and he left. I decided to go with Carnival on Thursday morning as they were very competitive in cost and upfront and I had an overall good feeling from reviews here and impression in talking to Ron. They had an opening and were able to start the next day (Friday afternoon). Ron estimated a day and a half. I was doing my huge master bedroom in a burgandy color and the rest of house in restrained gold which we had looked at and then Ron suggested it. The bedroom took a primer and 4 coats to come out right but the painters did a great job. There was a crew of 3 and they were extremely good and professional. They moved furniture safely and efficiently (and we have some HEAVY furniture). The quality of their painting was top notch. We only found a couple spots which they touched up before they left without fuss. The mantle update came out perfect and my wife was very happy there also. Overall it was an outstanding experience and one of the best decisions we have made in having someone else come in and paint. I would hire Carnival again without hesitation for future painting needs.
Description of Work: Project was to paint the walls of my house in every room except extra 2 bedrooms plus repair some cracks in ceiling as well as add new mantle shelf to give more width to display things.

I was impressed with other reviews and the professional looking bid/brochure. The company showed up on time and finished the work on schedule. The only concern I voiced during the job was that the texture looked like cake drizzle in many places and seemed inconsistent in others. The owner came to look and said it would be taken care of. Afterwards, it looked better in some places, but was still drizzly in others. Although it lacked the consistency I would have used myself, I decided to trust the other referrals, hoping that it would look fine after the last coat of paint. Unfortunately, my "walk through" took place at 8:00 PM in the dimly lit home. I was only able to identify a few minor issues and they were taken care of that evening. It wasn't until I moved in, 3 weeks later, that I realized the slew of errors infecting my house. With rooms only requiring painting, there were NO problems. However; in every area where texture was applied, minor problems abounded: texture spills on decorative light bulbs and cabinets, cake drizzle texture, hundreds of "pot hole" and "pin hole" craters on multiple walls in multiple rooms, and wallpaper rips/tears around door trim at multiple doors. Ordinarily, I would give an experience like this an F, but this company came back and repaired most of the problems. I'm still not satisfied with the texture, but I can live with it. Hindsight is 20/20 and I should have been more skeptical when I saw workers painting, at night, in dimly lit rooms. They should have been using bright, construction lamps.
Description of Work: Remove wallpaper, add light texture and paint 3 bathrooms, the foyer, and game room. Paint 4 bedrooms and stairwell.

It's unfortunate when a company strives for ultimate satisfaction and the customer can not be satisfied. The texture was good at walk off-three weeks later you contacted us about some concerns that you had. We immediatley responded with out question and you walked the crew off a second time. The owner of the company came over and looked at the areas that you had concern with and did not question your judgement. We did not agree with your concerns however we addressed your concerns. The "drizzle " you refer too is a roll down texture. It's a light texture that you requested. The discription was lazy w's. Regards, Carnival

We had a very good experience with this company. The crew did a great job with the painting and repairs. Ron was excellent at keeping us informed and taking care of any concerns we had. He also helped us pick out paint colors for the exterior and interior - both of which we are very happy with. We were not able to be at the property the last day of the job, but Ron handled everything in making sure the job was finished to our satisfaction. I especially appreciated his consistent communication. Ron is very reliable and dependable - I highly recommend his company.
Description of Work: Power washing, repair, and painting of exterior of house. Also, painted the master bedroom and bath. At the end of the job, we added painting the beam in our living room (due to the great job they did on the beam in the master bedroom).

I thought everything was going very well, but then the crew seemed to not replace wood that needed to be replaced. I did eventually get him to replace some of the wood. The work was sloppy. There was paint on the windows, concrete, and hardware of the doors. They seemed in a hurry. I did get the contractor to come back and correct some of it, but I'm still finding more and more paint on the windows that I didn't see, so he evidently didn't look very well. I thought he would go around and look because with two sets of eyes we should have been able to see the problem spots; however, there is still paint on the windows and concrete that I didn't point out to him. They have a bid in on refinishing my kitchen cabinets, and I may go with them simply because it is hard to find someone to refinish kitchen cabinets. The guy that came out to correct the work that the paint crew did will be the one to actually do my kitchen cabinets and he seemed OK. He fixed what I told him but there are still some more areas that he didn't catch. They were good. I like the contractor very much, it was just the crew that was lazy. When he came out to see what all was wrong with the job, he told me he had fired the crew. The price that they have given me to refinish my cabinets was very good, and I could work well with the man that came out to bid them.
Description of Work: I used Carnival Custom Painting to replace the siding that was rotting on my house.
