I sent an email requesting a quote for sodding in my backyard and never got a response.

From the very beginning what made Joe standout from the other firms we talked to was the fact he listened to what we wanted. We didn?t want a row of hedges and the typical low maintenance plants we see in so many of the older homes in our neighborhood. He spent quite a bit of time asking about how we liked to use the garden. While we didn?t feel up to the heavy work of clearing the old garden, moving the trees and borders and installing the rocks, we didn?t want a garden full of shrubs that didn?t leave us room to plant treasures we found as we roamed area nurseries. Joe took us to a local nursery and got our take on our likes and dislikes with respect to color, shape and texture. His crew then came out and prepared the beds, adding a rock border that not only defined the space, but also addressed a drainage issue we had. Once the beds were ready they placed a wide variety of plants in the garden but didn?t plant them. They allowed us a day or two to rearrange the plants to our tastes, then came back and planted them. They left room for us to add our own special touch. The final result is a beautiful garden that shows off the attributes of the house, not detracts from them. Our neighbors are amazed at the transformation. A yard once filled with overgrown and untamed plants and bushes is now a beautifully serene landscaped yard.

I do not have any past experience with landscapers, but I would say that the job went very well. Joe was very accommodating, his crew was extremely diligent, everyone was polite and professional. After the work started, I requested that the patio area be expanded, which slightly increased the estimate, but Joe did not try to up-sell the original estimate. During the project, Joe installed a tree that I did not particularly like. When I told him my thoughts, he removed it and replaced it with a tree that I was comfortable with. No fuss. Since installation, there have been a few minor issues with the irrigation system. Joe has quickly responded to make the necessary adjustments. Overall, I am very pleased. I would be extremely comfortable with recommending Backyard's Plus to any of my friends and/or neighbors.

No follow-up at all even after I e-mailed. Joe did not live up to what he had told me and I would never consider using him again on anything. I went with another landscaping company highly rated by Angie's list and will be spending almost $30K with them. They are very professional and responsive. I will be rating that company upon completion but I am sure they will be getting an excellant review.

Joe came to give estimate and his price beat 2 other estimates. He and his lead crew guy, Gus, worked with me to set the plants in specific spots to serve as privacy for our pool/backyard area. Eight wax leaf legustrums were planted to the back, and other eight to each side of the backyard. I realized after they got started that there would be a bare spot left to the back and Gus, lead crew guy, was very kind and accomodating and pulled up one of the side legustrums (that had already been planted/buried) and planted it in the bare spot in the back. The oleanders were planted following a line of existing oleanders and will serve their purpose of privacy to that side of the house. Joe was very pleasant, professional and easy to work with. I would definitely hire again for future work.

Joe exceeded my expectations. He was prompt, explained his solutions to our drainage problems clearly and thoroughly. He suggested a couple of landscaping ideas which we agreed to that dramatically improved the appearance of our back yard and pool area. His crew worked very hard and they were professional in every way. All of the work was completed on time and within the estimated cost. We plan to use Backyards Plus again. These guys were absolutely terrific and Joe is a pleasure to work with!

From my first call to the final sprinkler setting, everything was done with professionalism and courtesy. The supervisor and the crew were prompt, efficient and neat. At the end of each day of the project, the work area was left clean and tidy. No mess to step over or blow around. The end result is dramatic and better than I could ever have imagined. I have worked with several landscapers over the years on much larger properties and never had such a terrific result. Joe, the owner and designer, has been on top of the project from beginning to end. He and his people are trustworthy and dependable.

Researched Angie's List for top rated landscaping contractors in Spring, TX area.Had 2 companies come out to review work, discuss project, and provide estimates and references.Chose Backyards Plus (Joe Rodriquez) to do project, scheduled work for a day that I would be off work and so be home to supervise and approve any decisions that needed to be made.Landscaping team under Joe arrived at the house as scheduled, completed their work in a timely manner, cleaned up and removed all waste, and discussed future phase 2 project that I plan to do this summer (driveway expansion and landscaping).Did a good job, everything looks good.

From the first call, Joey was very responsive to our needs. He came out and looked at what we wanted done to add hard landscaping to our back yard. He had suggestions on a more workmanlike way to do it. We agreed to the work and very soon he and his crew came out to do it. He added pavers around our raised vegetable beds and extended our patio. It looks great and provides more access to the backyard. It is 3 months later and it still looks great.

We ended up going with someone else.

Backyards plus has been doing my yard now for over a year...they arrive every Thursday at the same time, and after they leave, my yard looks lovely....the crew is very respectful and easy to work with, and anytime I need something extra, they are more than happy to help. My landscaping was done in a very timely manner, I must say, I thought I had a lot of good ideas, but Joe was an expert in helping me -especially with my budget. He placed a lot of color,but also a lot of green that would make it through the winter months. The most important part, is that whenever I call, my call is returned promptly. Whenever I need them to fix my sprinkler system, it is taken care of, to where I do not have to wait. I will say, I have used a lot of yard/landscaping companies in my lifetime, and I would highly recommend Backyards professionalism to anyone. It is comforting to know that a company truly cares about their customers - and whenever I am out of town, I do not worry about my yard not being taken good care of. The whole crew is very knowledgable, respectful and prompt....dependable and very easy to communicate with. My yard has plenty of color and plenty of long lasting greenery. I have no don'ts about this company, and am extremely pleased with all their work.
