Joe was friendly and easy to work with. He took care of our project very quickly and helped me come up with ideas that ended up looking better than I could have anticipated. He listened to me and understood what I was looking for and provided suggestions that met my needs and didn't cost more than necessary. His pricing was extremely competitive. I'm very happy with the final result.

I absolutely love the patio Backyard's Plus built at my house last fall. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it! Joe came over and gave me some great options. His crew were very friendly and professional. They made a beautiful cobble patio over the top of a concrete patio that was in poor shape when I bought the house. The color of the cobbles coordinates perfectly with the brick of the house. They carefully sloped the surface away from the house toward the yard so that it drains quickly after it rains. It's such an improvement over what was there. I'm on my patio every day now!

They did well. The lawn looked good. Green, healthy with minimal weeds.

Joe was very professional and friendly. Completed all items expertly and timely. Followed up after final payment with additional grass and repairs. Highly recommended.

He was good during the initial job but when it came to the punch list he did not complete the items. Plus 3 out of 6 cypresses have died, all of the azaleas, and one holly tree is half dead. If your expecting a top quality craftsmanship on the stone work forget it. Basically his top Forman is a hard worker but not a trained stone cutter. There are gaps in our retaining wall and the pool deck is uneven and cracking. He will not return our calls or request to fix these issues. I would not recommend him.

I called and spoke to the owner. He was very pleasant and knowledgable. Except unfortunately he never showed up and never estimated my lawn. I called him later to find out what happened and he never called back. I see all these good reviews but someone who is a responsible businessman always keeps his word. i would question how real those other reviews are at this point. Very annoyed.

Considering all the positive reviews on Angie's List, you can be sure that Backyards Plus will exceed your expectations. Joe showed up on time for the initial appointment and the first thing that I immediately noticed was that he was extremely professional and upfront about his costs and what he thinks about the project. He listened to our plans and gave suggestions while always being respective of what we wanted. But best of all, Joe was willing to spend time to educate a newbie homeowner like myself and give advice on anything related to backyard maintenance. I got bids from 2 other landscaping companies prior to calling Joe, and not once did they offer to give me advice on why my grass and trees were not healthy and what I can do to help revive them. The other quotes that I got were also considerably higher and did not factor in details like re-routing sprinklers, re-sodding, etc. We changed our minds several times about the patio design during the initial quoting phase, and Joe always got back to us within a day with a revised quote. When the project started, Gus and his crew showed up early every morning and was very considerate about minimizing the disturbance to our family life during the construction. For example, they always made sure to tell us when someone would be showing up at our home so that we wouldn't be alarmed if we saw them in our backyard. As mentioned in other reviews, all of the workers were friendly and extremely hard working. They always said hi to us and were able to communicate with us whenever we had a question. The project was completed within the timeframe that Joe promised and exceeded our expectations. Joe even threw in some additional sod, pavers, area drains and drain connectors for downspouts to be installed in the future. Although it wasn't not part of the quote, prior to completion of the project I asked if they could help remove the tree stakes for 2 trees in the front yard, and they gladly offered to do it at no additional cost. What was really interesting was that during the construction, our next door neighbor also happened to find Joe's contact info on Angie's List and called them for an estimate right while they were working on our project! Our neighbor ended up also hiring Backyard's Plus for their landscaping needs and was very satisfied with the result. A few months later, we noticed that some sod had died and asked Joe if he could help replace it. Although it took some time to schedule the work (his crews are fully booked several months in advance), he kept his promise and had the sod replaced at no cost to us. Joe really looks out for his customers and wants to make sure they are completely satisfied. We are very fortunate to have met Joe and are grateful for his friendship. Backyards Plus will be the only company we will call whenever we have major landscaping needs.

I am in the middle of a complete home remodel and the most professional crew I have dealt with was Joe Rodriquez's group of workers. They not only completed the project on time in spite of several rain days but they went above the job the scope to make the yard look great. I have not seen such hard workers since I started my project 5 months ago. Despite different complications that occurred Joe never once requested more money. I could go on and on about how fabulous this company is but the greatest compliment has been neighbors and cars stopping to tell us how great the yard looks.

The owner lives in the neighborhood so it made communication and supervision of the project much easier. Some of the plants that were put in (roses) were weak and had pretty much died out before the start of Houston's 2015 summer heat wave. Overall, it went very well considering the amount of work involved. We would hire them again and would recommend them to our neighbors.

Great. The workers were friendly, skilled and very professional. Joe (owner) kept in touch throughout the process starting with the landscape design until the final sign-off for work performed. I am extremely pleased with the work and I believe I received excellent value for the money. I would definitely hire him again.

From the first point of contact, Joe was responsive, creative, and very concerned with a job that not only looked great, but functioned well. They built a very large patio with multiple levels including fire bowls on pillars, a fire pit, added a stone border to our front and back yard, and re-landscaped everything. Joe's crew- headed up by a very type A- Gus, worked long hours sometimes slogging through mud and relentless rain to get the job done. Joe told us the time frame would be about a month since the scope of the job was a large one. We were convinced there was no way they could pull that off with the torrential rains throughout the month, but they did. The crew was respectful and hard working- a combination not easily found in today's world. They were incredible and I would and will use them over and over again. More importantly, I would happily refer them to anyone asking for a company concerned with doing a project right, making a project as beautiful as it can be, all the while keeping a tight schedule. Kudos to Joe and Gus and their dedication to making our back yard look more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

I have left 3 messages for Joe Rodriquez over the past 10 days. I have also tried to contact the company through the website. I have received absolutely no calls back or emails.. I even stated I was an Angie's list member and that is where I got the name. This is not a small job. We want to completely redo our patio, new landscaping, pavers, fence, water features, etc. We do not have a time frame either so if the company proposed something we liked, we were willing to wait to get it done to fit their schedule. The company obviously does not need your business. Don't bother.

Absolutely a great job! Responded promptly to my original call, did a fair assessment and offered a reasonable bid. A trip to the nursery allowed me to pick flowers and shrubs I liked, which were then placed in a delightful arrangement . I like a less structured look, and Mr. Rodriguez accomplished that very well. I would recommend him highly and plan to reuse him as needed.

The owner of BackYard Plus, Joe Rodriquez, is a great fellow to work with. He is very punctual, personal, and professional. He showed up and did a walk through with me and left to do a design layout which he presented to me and my wife. It was pretty much exactly what we had wanted. We discussed several opportunities for changes and Joe was very forthright and upfront with his comments, both those that supported our desires and even those that were opposed to our desires. He presented both the good and the bad and then set about aggressively executing the agreed to plan. The results were/are stunning! The work was done in the fall, so we only got to enjoy the beautiful plants for a short season, but spring is upon us and everything is coming back in all of its glory. We lost one shrub over the winter. We advised Joe and he had his crew back out in fairly short order to replace it. In the front of our house, we asked that he install a three-jar water feature. He did a marvelous job! People stop their cars and come up and tell us what a beautiful water treatment we have. There were issues in the beginning with the sizing of the subsurface water reservoirs, but Joe and his crew were diligent and determined in their efforts to make sure that everything worked and that we were satisfied. We are extremely pleased with the results we received from Joe and his team and would use them again without question.

Responsiveness good, but be sure you know what plants you want or you will get the plants they want to install.

Joe and his team were very professional from start to finish. Joe made about three visits during the bidding process to make sure we were all on the same page and to discuss some of the details. Once the job started, his guys led by Gus were prompt and very polite and cleaned up every night. With 90% of the job done, we decided to make an adjustment in the plans and Joe accommodated the request and was fair about the price. Joe would come by whenever I called him to go over the work and make sure we were all on same page. My wife and I could not be happier with the results. The landscaping was the final touch on our new house.

Made contact and scheduled an appointment. They were a no show. Called and left message for a reschedule. Never called me back. Guess business is so good they don't need new customers.

Contacted Backyard's Plus Lawn Care and spoke with Joe. Explained I was wanting cleanup and unsure what after that. He explained that his minimum is $1200. which I understand. My HOA does weekly upkeep on the yard but not the flower beds. I asked if he could recommend another service but he could not. He offered to drive by my house as he had a meeting at 5:00 pm that day in my area and let me know if there was something he or his staff could do. I've never heard from him. While he gets to choose what jobs he takes, he should have the courtesy and professionalism to do what he agreed to do or call back to say he's not going to do it.

They are top notch in their work and Joey has driven over in short notice when I need anything.

Joe contacted me promptly and arranged an appointment. He discussed options, gave me an estimate and had his people there right away to start the work. The work was completed quickly and they delivered everything they promised.
