AUTUMN AIR

Noticed no airflow in house first thing in the morning. Did my research on Angie's List and gave Autumn Air a call. I received very prompt service. Service technician was courteous and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the blower motor and the bad circuit board. I was back up and running by 3 pm that afternoon. I was very pleased with the service and signed up for the bi-annual inspection service.

The A/C had broken down while I was away on vacation - it was 93 degrees in the house when I returned and I had to stay in a hotel. So I was very glad I was able to access Angie's List to find a competent contractor without having to shop around in that heat. Enter Gabby, a very nice young man who installed the Heat Pump and Blower Motor. He also installed the Fan Center and Fan Motor in the attic. He also sold me the Service Agreement. As the house is 16 years old, the units were pretty old, he had a problem with the wiring in the attic and the unit wasn't working correctly. It would not turn off. I then called the office and left a message for Eddie Tipton and explained the problem I was having. He came to the house within a couple of hours and he worked diligently until it was fixed. I then decided to have him back to replace the Furnace and the Thermostat which had been installed incorrectly by a different company. He wanted us to be completely satisfied and we were.

Office staff was pleasant and Paul, the tech, arrived on time (even called 30 minutes prior). Paul was courteous and professional. He explained the problems in great detail until I understood my options. He left a little bit of a mess, as all service professionals do, but nothing unusual.

That evening we had returned from a trip and noticed a leak in the 2nd floor ceiling under the A/C evaporator unit. We called Autumn Air and they sent a service technician out within the hour. The service technician, Paul Marks, was thorough with his explanation of the problem and his repair.

They were honest but had a higher price. It was determined that the house had a bad evaporator core and furnace. He did exactly the right thing.

Good experience overall. Eddie was knowledgeable and provided options for different systems, the work was scheduled and completed within 4 days, the one minor problem was corrected the day after. Did a little shopping around for price and perhaps it could have been done for less but the professionalism of the company seemed worth extra.

This is the first Angie's List report I've written but the service provided by Autumn Air was so great I just had to share. Very punctual, Autumn Air scheduled an appointment between 3-5 pm. I asked for a call 30 minutes before they were to arrive. I received a call at 3:00 and they arrived at 3:30. Excellent work, the technician, Paul, identified the problem, a bad capacitor, almost within minutes and it corrected in less than 30 minutes. He had several suggestions on how I should cut back the bushes or construct some ducting around the outdoor units to allow them to work more efficiently and prolong their life. I signed up for a annual maintenance agreement ($300/yr) that covers two inspections, any future diagnostic fees, and a 12% discount on all future maintenance.

Days after the heater went in, the a/c began dripping into the bathroom ceiling. (I think that the drain pipe was accidentally kicked.) The ceiling and two walls were damaged. After three more visits, the problem was not actually solved; the water was going into the emergency pan. Finally, I was left with no a/c. The last technician accidentally moved the emergency shut off switch; a friend and I fixed it. With no more faith in the company's work, I called another plumbing company to run a drain pipe properly and have had no problems since. I talked to Eddie Tipton (manager), he apologized for being unable to solve the problem more quickly and effectively (he had been out of town.), and agreed to refund my money for the service agreement and the two useless visits. I'm still stuck with costly repairs to my bathroom. Important Note: The last technician changed the words above my signature before turning in the invoice. I had another come today, 3/5/2010, and the serviceman discovered that my heater had been installed incorrectly. The result was just over two years after buying this new heater, I had to pay for a new part.

Eddie Tipton listened to what I wanted and made professional recommendations. The job was a lot of work and they had a few set backs but finished in a timely manner. The installation crew were neat and efficient. Everyone was very knowledgeable. Eddie took care of a couple of problems promptly. I am very happy with our new units and will use them again.

I called and spoke to the office on Tuesday, explained my problem and advised that the only day I could meet them was Saturday. There was no issue or problem scheduling a Saturday morning time.

Autumn Air was very good, professional, courteous, knowledgeable and middle of the road price.

He did a fine job, the work went quickly and the unit works very well. He disposed of the old compressor for us and everything was left looking and functioning well.

We were very impressed with Autumn Air because they were so honest with us. Other companies told us we needed to replace the unit, but this company fixed it very inexpensively. They were very professional.

Everything turned out great and the price was fair. They came when they said they would. I was impressed that one of the men who did the work helps people that are studying the heat and air trade.

I thought that they were nice and polite, however I needed a company that would be able to replace my air ducts as well as my a/c unit and Autumn Air was not able to do that for me. Their rates were too high for just replacing my a/c unit alone. I later decided to go with another company.

Autumn Air sent a guy to access my air unit to see why it was not working. He said there was something major wrong with it and it needed to have the whole unit replaced. The owner disagreed and sent his expert technician to my house. The expert found that it was only a faulty switch in the attic and was not as big of a problem as the first guy thought. They told me the switch will need to be replaced by an electrician. So, until I get it replaced they showed me how to keep it working and where the problem is located.

They did a good job and everything worked out fine. I cannot recall the price, but it was better than others I have heard about.

We we're very impressed with his effort to find this unusual problem and very satisfied with his courtesy and persistence in solving our problem. We would definitely recommend Autumn Air.

I had taken the fan housing off the unit to reveal what appeared to be a blown compressor. Tech was very professional and came out on a Saturday to verify that was the case. They verified it was covered on a warranty. They mentioned that it could cost upwards of $900 to swap out a compressor which I thought was rather pricey, but considering they didn't have to take apart the unit as much and no freon was left to evacuate I thought it would be less. They swapped out the compressor late the next day. I received the invoice and it showed a full flat rate charge for the compressor swap out. Their start and stop time was 2 hours including travel time. That seemed excessive to charge $917 for a 1.5 hour job with a .5 hour trip. I called and spoke to the manager Eddie Tipton and he explained 2 guys did the work. That is better but still seems expensive. They are responsive and punctual and seem to do a good job but are very expensive it would seem. Good if you are in a pinch.

We like that Autumn Air responded very quickly and got the work done the same day. We compared prices and we did real well choosing them. The technician was very professional and their trucks are nice and clean. I have used them before and I am sure I will use them again.

The quality of work was really good and they were on time. I just didn't feel that good of a personal touch or responsiveness with this company. They charged a really low price and that's probably why I chose them but I will probably end up going back to the company I used to use.

I have used Autumn Air for a long time now and they have always done a great job, however this time I had to call them back, because the heater still was not working properly. The guy that came out said there was still a little dust, that he had missed the first time and it would be fine now. I always get prompt service with them, usually next day service.

He came out and did the check on the air conditioners, and added some freon. A few days later, the downstairs unit was not working. He came back out, and told me that it was the thermostat. He went out to his truck to get the thermostat that he recommended, but he came back and told me that he did not have that unit in stock. He only charged me the price of the thermostat he'd originally quoted, even though the one he put in was more expensive, and he did not charge me for the service call. I've been so pleased with the demeanor of the people who work there, and I will certainly keep them on my list of companies to call! Price reflects original service call and freon charge.

The representative was polite, but did not do the work promised on the website. The website lists the following tasks. Check thermostat operation - not done. Check the air filters and notify customer of condition - not done. Check condensation drain pan and purge line - done. Check duct work for air leaks (where accessible) - not done. Check inspect evaporator coil surface for condition (may require an access door and cleaning @ additional charge) - not done. Check condenser coil and wash away with water (may require chemical cleaning @ additional charge) - not done. Check refrigerant charge - done. Check compressor and fan operation and performance - not done. Check electrical connections and controls - not done. Lubricate bearings - done. A/C check out $54.95 1st system and $34.95 per each additional system.

Eddie responded quickly to my request for an estimate. He worked up estimates on 3 different systems and explained the pluses and minuses of all 3 systems. Within 3 days I made up my mind about which company I wanted to go with, and Autumn Air had the best proposal and cost. The installation was scheduled 3 days later and everything went very smoothly. The 2 techs (Jose and Robert) were very respectful to me and my wife and worked continuously all day with 45 minutes for lunch. I was impressed with their overall knowledge of A/C and heating systems and their ability to innovate when needed.
