+ -1 moreOverall, I was a very satidfied customer. I was preparing for our family vacation for which we were leaving on a Wednesday. Well, Murphy's Law held true and my washing machine broke mid-cycle on Tuesday, the day before our trip. So I joined Angie's List, got the contact information for a couple of local service providers, and bada-bing-bada-boom, Andy was at my house about an hour later. He fixed it up very quickly and I was able to get the several loads of clothes finished off prior to my trip. I was very satisfied with his availability, promptness, and professionalism. I was a little surprised at how much it cost (~$150), but I haven't had my wash machine fixed in years so perhaps that's just what it costs these days. And besides, it was worth it to have it fixed so quickly. I would definitely use Andy again.
Description of Work: Andy came out, on VERY short notice, and fixed my washing machine which was stuck mid-cycle.

Description of Work: My refrigerator quit working. I called based on the Angie's Reports. One of the items said that there would be no service charge for Angie's list customers, but the coupon had expired. He told me on the phone, anyone can get that deal provided that they had the appliance repaired. He was quick to respond and said he could be out between 1 & 3pm. I told him that I had an appointment, but my housekeeper would be there. Gave him a credit card number to cover the repair. He was late and didn't come till a little after 3pm, so I was home. He looked at the refrigerator and told me that it needed a new board and that would cost $400. $300 for the part, $100 for the labor. My husband told me no, that he thought we should just look at new refrigerators. So, I told him I would write a check, but be sure and remove my credit card number from him files. Don't know if he was right, but I checked my files and the refrigerator is only 3 years old. I also went on line and couldn't find a board part that would cost $300. I found a board for the controls that cost $125.

Description of Work: My electric dryer stopped heating. I got Andy's name from Angie's list. When I called Andy, he came out the next day. The breaker was bad and my breaker box is really old so it was hard for Andy to find a replacement. The electric store gave him the wrong breaker and Andy had to go back that cost him another day. The price he quoted me he stuck to it even though it took him two days because of the breaker. The breaker went in on the second day and my dryer works like a charm.

+ -1 moreThis is the second repair I've called Andy for, the first was to fix the lid switch on our Kenmore washing machine. The current repair was to replace the innermost glass on our Whirlpool wall oven and also to replace a fuse that had blown out in the oven following the self-cleaning cycle. Andy performed the washing machine repair and his associate, Mike I believe, performed the oven repair. With both repairs, Andy was upfront about his cost and even worked with me on price when I mentioned what I could ordered the parts for from sears parts direct. Both appliances were fixed correctly the first time. In both instances he was available within one or two days from when I called him. I would definitely recommend Andy's and will call him for future repairs.

+ -1 moreAn appointment was scheduled with Andy more than a week ahead of time. On the appointed day, he did not show, but when I called him, he was able to make it as planned. When he arrived, he was both pleasant and professional and worked hard to repair our dryer. At first, Andy thought the problem was the dryer's Thermistor. After taking it apart, the unit was still not working. He then checked the power plug and diagnosed this as the problem. The plug was replaced and the unit began to work. A few days later, the unit stopped working. We called a different repair service who said the circuit board was "shorted". We don't know if this was related to Andy's work or if the circuit board was the original problem. We ended up replacing the dryer unit for $800.

+ -1 moreon june 14 mike with Andy's came over to the house to address a couple of issues. One was the ice maker on the refrigerator wasn't working the other was the turn table in the micro wave was broken and didn't turn. Mike determined that the ice maker was in fact all right but that the feed line froze when other workers ( we had a bathroom remodel going on) turned the water off for a period of time. Mike thawed the feeder line and bingo every thing was fine. Some one else might have sold me an entire new unit, either out of inexperience or corruption. I paid $55 for the service call but no further expense. The micro wave needed a new part which he found on the internet and ordered. The part came in sooner than expected and on the eighteenth of June he returned and installed the part. I am very happy with Andy's Appliance Repair and feel very comfortable with Mike. He is a polite and professional individual. I recommend this firm.
Description of Work: Repaired ice maker that was not feeding water to the tray first then repaired micro wave turntable that was not turning.

When I placed the call Andy was professional, polite, and made sure that we would receive service today. Mike was our serviceman and was absolutely WONDERFUL! Description of Work: Our side-by-side refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling and we were just sure that we would have to purchase a new unit. Fortunately, it turned out that the Starter on the compressor had gone out, a simple fix. Mike replaced the Starter and we are once again cooling.

Description of Work: I picked Andy because of the reviews that he had gotten. Initally I called him because my freezer door was not closing. The problem was that the bottom shelf was not pushed all the way in. While he was here I showed him an issue with the flapper. He replaced the flapper and he over charged me without telling me the price first. If you hire this guy make sure he tells you the price before he does the work. He is very expensive and I felt I got taken. I will NOT be calling him again.

All done as outlined. Unit tested OK. Proper usage and possible contributors to the problems were covered. The entire interaction, from my phone call thru completion was efficient, professional, courteous, and thorough. Andy and wife were both excellent; one could not ask for any better response and service Very highly recommended.
Description of Work: Washing machine was not working. Diagnosed problems in timer knob & panel; replaced same. Diagnosed problem with transmission-to-agitator complex; replaced same.

He apologized for having to charge the minimum charge fora quick repair, but I told him he was being paid for knowledge, not just time! This is the second time that I have used him and if I need another appliance repair, he will called right away.

Andy thoroughly checked everything out and verified that the problem was in fact corrected. Since nothing was wrong, he did not charge us for the service visit. Extremely professional guy. + -1 moreI called and spoke to Andy, who took down my information and said someone would be out the next day between 12 and 4. 3 PM the next day, received a call that they would be an hour later. The caller was professional and made sure to get my name right. The service professional came in, was very polite and professional, disassembled the dryer, fixed the loose part, and explained everything. I was very happy with the service call, and the dryer is drying like new.
Description of Work: Repaired Dryer which was not drying. Apparently a part had come loose which was replaced. Also cleaned the inside of the dryer.

Description of Work: New Amana Refrig: French Door with defective drain pan. Andy diagnosed the problem and replaced the drip pan in the same day. Work done exceptionally well and staff was professional. At 16 months after purchase, the Item was beyond warranty period and total cost of repair was pricey but that is not Andy's fault.

+ -1 moreWe noticed that our icemaker wasn't making ice. We thought it was the sensor inside the freezer but it turned out that the fan had gone out in the back of the fridge. It had become so hot that it melted the water hose in half so water wasn't making it to the ice machine. Luckily we didn't have a huge water mess on our hands since the hose was pointing upward. Andy came in the first day and diagnosed the problem. He indicated we needed a new fan and a partially new water hose which he said he could have by the following day. I gave him $150 as a deposit for the work and parts. He returned earlier than expected the following day and finished the work. Andy and his work partner are both ultra friendly and extremely easy to work with. I really appreciated his attention to detail and his ability to connect with his customer. Definitely will use Andy again in the future!

Description of Work: I had my dryer fixed. It was not heating. After this repair, he alos fixed my oven display screen that had gone black.

+ -1 moreHe arrived promptly and knocked it out. I was happy with the service call. He believed the problem was actually a manufacturing mistake but knew how to fix it. He tried a "cheap fix" 1st but warned me that if it didn't work he knew a more drastic repair but that it'd cost more. He did say that if the cheap fix didn't work he'd come back without charging me a 2nd service call... So far the cheap fix appears to be working.
Description of Work: Repaired a refigerator leaking gasket... seemed to do a good job.
