I used TLC Electrical to install my pool heat pump. Their technician Chase came out and analyzed the project and got the job done quickly and effectively. He went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience. My wife and I were very impressed and look forward to working with TLC Electrical more in the future.

Do NOT use them. We had to call them as they were the only electricians available after hours. It's a scam. They did not complete the work, left a hazardous situation, tried to lock us into a solution that was 3-4 times the price we ultimately paid...and threatened to send a letter to our insurance company and city of residence. In hindsight, we would just go without power for 8-12 hours and used the electrician we know and trust. Save yourself a major headache and find another option.

I had no power in my kitchen. Paid over $300 for TLC to come and when they left I STILL HAD NO POWER in my kitchen. Their lame excuse? We didn’t check the GCFI outlets but your bill stays the same. No refund, no concern over losing a new customer and NO ELECTRICITY AFTER THEY “FINISH” THEIR “WORK”. Don’t give them your hard earned money. They won’t work for it and you’ll end up realizing you were scammed and have to pay a REAL electrician to help you.

Inquired about an estimate for installing pool equipment that I purchased myself. They would only schedule an appointment if I agreed to pay an $89 fee (which would not be applied to the cost if I hired, them but I would supposedly get a 10% discount if I hired them). After some consideration, I called back and scheduled an appointment for a day that I would be at home. I was given a four-hour window of 8am to 12pm and they said they'd call before sending tech out. Fine, but they called at 7:54 am. I was unavailable so they left a message. They called and texted again at 8:05 am saying that they were having to send the tech somewhere else since they couldn't get in touch with me. I was able to call back at 8:15 am, and she said they had already dispatched the tech somewhere else (which they were going to do at 8:05 according to their message). She said they'd send the "next available" tech out but couldn't say when that would be. I don't understand this way of doing business. If I schedule an appointment, send a tech during the window that you gave me and if I'm not home or something, charge me anyway. But to have missed the entire 4 hour window by 5 minutes after its start because I wasn't available to take their call to confirm the appointment I had already scheduled??? Probably best that I didn't hire them anyway. Moving on. Good luck to you if you choose them. I certainly don't think they'll be "bending over backwards" to ensure your satisfaction based on my experience.

Terrible Company! Avoid! Bait and Switch Pricing. Representative/tech Robert came out and proposed certain pricing on hanging 4 ceiling fixtures. Talked a good game.. actually talked way too much in retrospect which should have made me suspicious. Charged me for the four fixtures, but had to come back to do one more, than tried to charge me another $1k plus additional $$ for scaffolding --the former which I'd already paid. I told them to go jump and got Daniel Electric to finish job for $300, no scaffolding, and done right in time...great communication.

TERRIBLE Company! Avoid! Rip-off artists with terrible communication. Company came out and gave beautiful STORY of what they would do and achieve. Their tech talked your ear off. It was peculiar but he was always tapping on an IPAD and never let you see the entire estimate/invoice in total. Quoted for work, and said could begin right away. Then they completed half the work saying they would need to come back with a whole big rig/lift and padding for the rest...this after paying for their service. Rep said they would get back to me on several-hundred dollar quote for the cost they didn't control for some scaffolding or a lift. Didn't hear from them for 3+weeks. Then, they provided me a new estimate/invoice for ANOTHER $1000+ not just for rigging, but for the installation process that I already paid for. Could NOT get management and/or business office to call me back. To complete the task, I got Daniel Electric (A GREAT company that I unfortunately did not know about till after my troubles with TLC) to complete the work for $600.00...not the $2,000 more that TLC wanted. And it was done perfectly and professionally.

TLC Electrical was very responsive. We had first thought that our AC went out but when the AC repairman came he discovered that the problem was in our electrical panel and not the AC. Since we had been without AC for a couple of days in the heat of the Summer, I was desperate to get someone out. I called several companies that could not come out until the following day, at the earliest. I found TLC and they were able to come out within about an hour. Robert, our technician, was very polite and seemed very knowledgeable about the problem. He was able to do a temporary fix to get our AC working again (my hero!) but stated that the entire panel needed to be replaced. I don't know anything about electricity but I could tell where the fire was. And, he seemed very trustworthy. Once I was ready to replace the entire panel, it took a couple of days to get it done. This was because of Oncor, not TLC. We had to get Oncor involved and the city inspectors but it is done and everything seems great. Robert was probably at our house 2 hours on the initial day, 4-5 on the second day, and well over 12 on the last day. He showed up at 6 a.m. with Oncor who had to shut down everything and stayed until Oncor showed back up at 6:30 p.m. to reconnect us to the power lines. And, he even brought donuts! Their prices seem VERY expensive. I don't know what this would cost with other companies but I paid over $7100 for the new panel and for him to replace a ceiling fan. Would I have liked the price to be less, of course, but I feel like I received excellent customer service from both the office staff and Robert, a very knowledge technician, and peace of mind that maybe my house won't burn down because of our electrical panel.

The $399 charge was with my VIP discount. I can't believe that the cost for this service is comparable to industry standards. It was an expensive lesson to learn, but TLC Electric has lost my business. I have been a customer for 6 years.
Description of Work: The electrician installed a BRK Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm, which they provided. This alarm sells for $47.97 at Home Depot. All the electrician did was take the alarm out of the box, plug it into the existing plug, and turn it to finish the installation.

I realized after the job was completed that the electrician had mentioned getting a permit from the city yet no one ever mentioned a permit or an inspection. On Monday I called the city and TLC had not acquired a permit. TLC's charge for getting a permit was $300.00 discounted (as they said I am now a VIP customer) to $203.00. At this price I want my permit and inspection. After calling TLC they said they would correct as this was an oversight?? I hope this is not a normal practice. A day or two later I talked to the city again to see if they did acquired a permit and they had. The permit cost them $39.00. See above; they charged me $203.00. When the electrician gave us the quote and mentioned that the permit was $300.00 I was shocked at the price and he told me the city has to get their money. This was not the city getting their money. It was TLC getting the largest amount of this $203.00. Jeff Reynolds the service manager told me this $203.00 included money for registrations, licensing renewals for their electricians (per the internet renewals are $50.00 a year) and insurance. This is not was told to me when presented with the quote. Those items are the cost of doing business. They should be covered in the profit made from the price of the electrical box not separated out of other things once they were caught over charging for a city permit. Also since my power was turned off and the meter was sending Oncor messages that the power was off and Oncor had not been notified. Oncor cam out on Monday and I am now being charged with meter tampering and charges will be added to my electric bill. TLC electric says when the bill comes send us a copy and we will take care of it with Oncor then. I have received a letter from Oncor to the finding of meter tampering and I want TLC to be proactive and resolve this before I receive a bill for this meter tampering. I have definitely lost my confidence in TLC. The work performed by Tim McGinty was very good as far as I could tell. The work passed inspection by the city. Their work is not my problem. It is the way they handle their business.

To sum up Oncor was very unprofessional and due to their delay our house could have caught fire. TLC electrical's representative Tim McGinty was very professional, went about and beyond and we are very please with TLC and will use them again. Oncor's complaint representative was as appalled as I by how his company responded and they refunded us $1,100 and had our appliances inspected. Mr McGinty stated that there are still some issues with our panel and that will need to be addressed. He took numerous photos of the damaged wiring, the damaged meter and worked very hard to get our power restored. I would recommend TLC highly to anyone...Oncor needs some work.
Description of Work: On Thursday, Feb 28th our power went down. I contacted Oncor (our electrical service provider) on their automated emergency line. Over the course of 2 days I left a total of 11 messages to Oncor and received no response. In desperation I contacted TLC to try and see what was going on. By this time we had been without heat for 48 hours with temps in the 40s at night. Mr. Tim McGinty of TLC told us that we would have to have Oncor out to see whether the problem was with our home's electrical system or theirs. After many phone calls to Oncor I finally got someone out on Friday afternoon to look at the problem. My husband was home and basically he said the Oncor rep told him "yea, it's your problem your lines are fried" and left. He was there about 5 minutes. Since we know zero about electrical problems we weren't aware that Oncor would have to shut down the main. We thought shutting down our panel would be enough. Mr. McGinty came out and he called Oncor and during a very heated conversation he insisted they come out and shut the power off so he could work on the problem. Not only did they not come out but they told their dispatcher that my husband told them it wasn't an emergency which was not true. Over the next two days (Saturday and Sunday March 2nd and 3rd) Mr. McGinty made repeated phone calls to Oncor and was at our house most of the day both days. Oncor finally sent out a truck on Sunday morning to shut off power but didn't stick around to see if anything else was needed. Mr McGinty had to dig several feet down because our wires were fused together. He was livid with Oncor because their inaction over 2 days caused this additional damage and could have caused a house fire. He found in the course of working on the meter that it too had been fried. Once again, he had to call Oncor out yet again to bring a new meter. Bear in mind that Mr McGinty waited several hours on Oncor over the course of Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. The city I live in requires an inspection before the main can be turned on but since by this time we had been without heat from Thurs to Sunday and temps were in the low 40s he was able to get the power turned on for us since the city inspector would not be able to come out and sign off on the repair for 2 more days. I called and reported all this to Oncor's complaint line and Oncor refunded us $1,100 which was what Mr McGinty had said was the additional charge for the damage due to Oncor delaying in shutting down the main. The Oncor complaint representative also agreed to have our appliances inspected and sent out a service for that which they paid for. Mr McGinty went way above and beyond to help us get our power restored. He gave us advice on some future electrical work which still needs to be done and was very professional and patient with us during the process. We will use TLC and Mr McGinty in the future and would recommend them highly.;

It didn't go at all. I was given an estimate of more than $500 for what could not have been an hour of work, and less than $50 in materials. I declined the estimate. My bigger frustration is that I paid $69 for a service call just to get an estimate. In my view I paid the fee just to get TLC out of my house. I will never consider them again. I subsequently contacted another electrical contractor, received a free estimate, and had the work completed in less than an hour. (see my report for Daniel Electric.) The job was done at a fraction of the cost that TLC Electrical attempted to gouge me with.

Tim had to dig a trench 20 feet and under my A/C pad to bury the conduit. It was over 100 degrees that day. Despite the conditions, all the work was done neat and professional. TLC is not an inexpensive contractor, but these are guys who work on multi-million dollar homes in Southlake and surrounding areas. There is never a question that the job will be done right.
