The Tile Shop

We covered our patio last year, turning the area into a sun room. We found the Tile Shop by accident because we were not satisifed with the tile selections at the big box hardware stores. The manager at the time was very knowledgable and extremely helpful in guiding us to the tile that would fit our needs. The tile is a little pricey ($2,500) but they worked with us to get the slate tile we wanted. We gave the information to our contractor who picked up the tile and installed it. That was in March of 2014. In August 2015, we discovered a problem with one tile -- it is slate so it is naturally uneven. In this case, one section of one tile began to crack, shred and eventually crater. The room is heated and cooled so there is no moisture in the room, this particular tile was not by a window and the other tiles were fine. The only assumption we could make was that this one tile was defective. I called The Tile Shop for assistance because I was at a loss as to how to correct the problem and I knew it would be difficult to get someone repair one tile. Additonally these weren't kitchen floor tiles that could be simply popped out and regrouted. This tile is approximately 5/8" thick. The manager who assisted us when we purchased the tile was no longer there, it turns out he was only in the location to open the store. However, the new Manager took a personal interest in helping us and making sure the tile was repaired to its orignal state. Our floor is perfect again and I am very grateful.
