I thought great until the temperature outside got hot then the new unit did not perform as well as the old one. I contacted Bryan Slagle many times to find the problem and finally was told the unit he put in was too small even though was the same size as the previous. Either the system used is inadequate or the was not put in correct. Basically the resolution was for me to pay for another new unit and store the original new unit in my garage. This was not acceptable to me since I paid him as a professional to do the job correctly. He is now totally avoiding me, understandably...... But I believe when you pay a professional, you should get the job done right. Out of 4 units replaced in the last 2ish years, 2 systems are not adequate to cool the properties to an adequate temperature and previous systems did cool sufficiently. I'm not talking getting the temp to 60 when its 106 outside, I'm talking getting the temp below 79 when it's 99..... I understand the 20 degree difference is typically acceptable however, the previous units had no problems keeping the temp inside comfortable even when it was 106 outside. I need a new HVAC contractor, an honest and knowledgeable one.

The 1993 vintage heat pump had worked fine as a heater since we bought the house on Jan 30, 2015. We hadn't need it for several weeks so I thought I'd give the AC a try on the first mild day. It failed. The compressor and fan in the outside unit clicked on then off in less than a quarter second, every time I tried. I called two AC service companies to come out on the same day, 3 hours apart. The first repairman checked the wires on the thermostat then the unit in the attic, checking wires and the circuit board. Next we went outside and he checked the circuit board. He said there was a resistor that had gotten hot and was not allowing the compressor to come on. The board had to be replaced for the AC to work. Then came the speech about how old it was, putting good money after bad, saving energy.... His price for a new board was $817, to replace just the outside unit $3,515 and to replace the complete system minus the ducts $7,100. When North Texas HVAC arrived I was on an important call. The repairman went directly to the outside unit while I finished the call. I felt the house getting cold, finished the call and went outside to hear the AC working (bad board?). He said when the compressor comes on it pulls the low pressure down and increases the high pressure side. A low pressure switch was then defeating the operation as it was designed to. This is because the freon was low. With sufficient freon the low side wouldn't get too low for the system to work. For the service call and adding freon he charged $119. I have never lived in Texas before and have had one really bad experience with a dryer repair. I was hesitant to call anyone to service the AC and had not joined Angie's list at the time.
