C & T Lawns LLC

We have an abundance of overgrowth on one side of our backyard. We have an old Bradford Pear, pampas grass, poison ivy, and too many volunteer plants to count. I let C&T know that we wanted it all cut down and dug out and also wanted to start over with all new plants. We have an almost 11,000 square foot lot so this isn't a small feat. We aren't doing the whole yard, but a significant portion of the back needs an overhaul. So far, no problem at all. When our landscape designer Cristy came out the following week for the quote she started the conversation with "I don't even know why I'm here, we are in Southlake". I thought that was a little odd but decided to let it slide. After a quick briefing on what we were wanting done, she responded with "That's going to be expensive. At least $5000. Is that going to be a problem?" Well, we knew it was going to be expensive but she just sounded so condescending. She hadn't been there 5 minutes before she seemed like she was doing everything she could to get out of there as quickly as possible. She didn't take measurements, just snapped a couple of pictures and told us she would get back to us in a few days. Then she walked out the front door without even shaking our hand or thanking us for having them out for a quote. From the minute she arrived, to the minute she left, she treated us like we were some poor, backwoods country folk who couldn't fathom the idea of landscape design. It's been a week since she was here and we have yet to get a follow up email or phone call with a quote. Sorry C&T, we will just take our business somewhere we are treated like valued customers rather than like an inconvenience.

Well in the past three years, we have not been happy with their work. They have been very good at mowing and edging, but destructive otherwise. The last three years, each time they weeded our garden, they either pulled out a rose or wacked a rose to death. I am a grower of Hybrid T and Antique roses. Last two years they replaced the rose they killed. This time around they wacked my Double Delight Hybrid T, even though I called them a head of time and cautioned them. What is worse, when I called Chris, he tried to blame it on us ("a lot of weeds") and pulled his guys out without finishing the job. What a way to treat a customer. I am very disappointed. We'll see if they will pay for the rose.

Very friendly and very professional. Very honest as well.

The products, service, and results are excellent. It's unfortunate that both years I've experienced missed applications, and then poor follow-up when I complain about the oversight. C&T was kind enough to provide a schedule showing type and month of each application, so it's easy to notice when the applicator doesn't show up. It seems odd that I have to call to remind them or be forced to accept a partial credit the following year, and then haggle over that. And I have yet to receive a call or letter in the spring to remind me it's time to renew. Maybe I'm a bad customer ?

It was a great service. They charged by the hour, $40 an hour. They were very helpful in scheduling the actual work because we don’t always have a fix schedule.

They did really well. The president, Chris Austin, was very knowledgable when he came out here to give us our quote.

Jimmy the landscape designer was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to hear my ideas as well as tell me his ideas with in-depth knowledge of each plant and tree he suggested. He was always available to get a hold of via phone or email. His crew was professional and proficient. Jimmy personally saw through my entire project to the finish and the result was beautiful.

Overall- I am giving the company a grade of D because they did show up as scheduled but that is about the only positive I can say for them as I ultimately fired them. At first they did a good job with the leaf removal but once that was done, the remainder of the service was mediocre at best and some days shoddy; however, the price for the service was top-tier in comparison to other lawn companies. In the end I felt like I just paid extra for a poor quality job. Here is why I fired them: I became increasingly disenchanted with the service as I noticed that they didn't spend a lot of time on my yard and the main method of cleaning the yard was using the blowers at full force. Every time they came, I had to go clean my yard because there was dirt and yard and tree debris covering all of the hard structures in my backyard. They were fond of blowing all of the clippings and debris on to our pathways and letting it collect to the point that we had to use a shovel to dig up the piles they left to uncover a few of our stepping stones. I was annoyed by this but the real point of no return began here: I watched as the yard crew power-blew down an entire bed of irises and blew all of my newly planted jasmine of 6 trellises and just left them all on the ground. My yard looked nicer before they came as the yard was covered in dirt and mud and my plants had all been knocked down. I immediately called the account manager with whom we signed the contract to let him know that I found this to be unacceptable and describe what happened. He assured me that they didn't do business that way and would talk to the crew, but he never checked in with us after that to see if service had improved subsequently (It didn't). In the mean time- the crew was supposed to weed the beds- mostly, they didn't. In fact, I did all of the major weeding myself and left a few test dandelions in front to see if they would bother to pull them. I left the obvious ones with flowers on them so there was no mistaking that this was a weed and they never bothered with them. I was already toying with terminating the contract as I felt that they were doing a lazy job but we had paid in full and I didn't want to go through the hassal but the final straw for me was when the yard crew weed-eated down a bed of Astilbe. The irony is that when it was weeds they left them, but once I cleared that area and planted something nice (there were 10 and they were all about a foot high) they cut them down. The irony beyond that was if they thought they were weeds- cutting them down with a weed eater doesn't eradicate weeds. At that point I called to terminate the contract and spoke with both the account manager and a woman at the front office. To her credit, she asked for a second chance because they were unaware of any issues up to that point but I explained that I had already reported issues and that this wouldn't be a second chance, it would be a third chance and it further illustrates that there are communication issues in the company. Why should I be the one to teach them business 101 when I was already paying so much and having to clean up after them and do the weeding and now replace plants? We sent the termination notice and it took a bit to hear from the company owner via email. He wanted to revoke both the paid-in-full and Angie's list discounts and charge us what would have been full price for the four months. We explained in detail the issues we had experienced and felt that this was adding insult to injury as the contract was being terminated for repeated sloppiness and dissatisfaction. I also pointed out that there was no language in the contract we signed that notifies a customer that any discounts applied would be null and void upon contract termination and that all of their actions would be faithfully reported to Angie's list as well. He changed his tune at that point and refunded us the remainder of our balance. I got the impression that he was unaware of our complaints from his response which, again, highlights the total lack of communication within this company. As an owner, you better believe that I'd be on the phone to unhappy customers to at least hear first hand what went wrong so I could prevent it in the future, even if I couldn't save this particular contract. Looking back, I wish I would have fired them earlier. They didn't do an outstanding job and we had to fight to get the correct amount owed to us after termination. They've had glowing reviews, so we were surprised that we and our yard were treated this way. The sad part is that I was really looking forward to having some extensive landscaping done, but this company doesn't deserve another red cent from us.

A very nice employee, Jimmy, came to our home as scheduled. He explained the various services offered, referring to a one-page Maintenance Schedule. We would not require all of the offered services listed on the Maintenance Schedule, and Jimmy emailed to me 2 options, one on each of 2 Maintenance Schedules. He had also left with me a 3-page, 2-year contract. I spoke with Jimmy by phone, to modify the Maintenance Schedule closest to our needs, and explained some changes we requested to the 3-page document (which, for one thing, was not consistent with the Schedule). Two days later another employee called to ask what changes we wanted to the 3-page document. She said she would have to talk to the boss about making any changes to the contract AND about applying the Angie's List coupon (but for that, the price Jimmy provided would have been okay). She called back the next day to tell me none of the changes we requested to the 3-page document were acceptable, and that the boss wanted all of his customers to have the same contract.

Showed up and went over my requests; took photos. Returned one week later with pictures of plants and some landscaping ideas. Said they would return in a few days with an estimate and that the tree removal supervisor would contact me to set up tree removal time. 45 days later and no response from this company. totally unexceptable. I have started the process over with another company and a third company for the tree removal. I have no idea what kind of company would just stop responding to a customer. there was no controversial requests; we hadn't even seen a quote or proposal. I will never deal with this company again and would not recommend using them. what a waste of time on my part. very unprofessional.

Their service was very good. They do a good job.

Contacted Cand T Lawn via a contact form on their webpage. I found them via Angie's List. Several days later I received a voicemail message from someone with a very heavy, hard to understand accent. I was never able to decipher the message but called the number back to find out who had called. The same woman answered and I could not understand the name of the business (thought she was saying TNT rather than Cand T). Once we finally were able to communicate I set-up a date for someone to come out and give me an estimate (the following day) and the Cand T representative told me she would email me the estimate. This was to have occurred two days ago but I have yet to see the estimate. I called this morning for a status update. Different person answered the phone. She saw that I was in their system and that the appointment for an estimate had been scheduled but couldn't determine anything else. She asked if they could call me back when the other employee arrived who might know more. I chose to cancel the estimate and have hired someone else. My biggest complaint is having someone provide customer service whom the customers cannot understand.

Everything went well. They were prompt and professional, but we found them to be pricey and went with another company.

They responded to my request within a day, but it took them eight days to figure out that I was outside their service area. A waste of my time because I could have used those eight days to find some other provider.

We have no problems with them whatsoever. I would recommend them. The quality of their work is very good. They aren't the cheapest.

Excellent. They are right-on with their cost estimates, proffesional, and provide quality work. In the past 6 years we used them, we never had a complaint.

I am on a contract with them. They are always willing to help me with new things. They had also build a fence for me. They are all very nice and willing to help. I have all good things to tell about them.

CT was great. Chris gave a firm estimate for changing all the dead flowers and putting in new beds and flowers for the winter. They showed up on time and did a great job. Everything looks great and they followed up a few weeks later to make sure the plants were doing fine. Luann is also great and knows her stuff. CT also did my Christmas lights and did a great job - we will certainly use them for future landscaping needs.

They were very good. They did exactly what they said they would do. They returned calls quickly and answered any questions that I had. The woman from their office was very thorough in explaining everything. The price they charged us was exactly what they had quoted. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

We are very happy with them. They mow the lawn weekly. I also have them come out and go through a lot of the flower beds, and they basically clean up all the flower beds. They trim all the bushes and the trees. We have an annual service agreement with them for that. They mow weekly from March until October and then after that they just come out on a monthly basis. The labor cost for the initial cleanup was $350. They come monthly and trim everything. We travel a lot in the spring and the fall, and it did seem like a good thing to do. I compared prices for the mowing part but not the other part, and I am happy with the price. I would rate them highly.

I am pleased that I have contracted the services of C @ T Lawn Service.

Went well, prompt in getting us estimates as well as prompt performing the work and did a good job. we still use them for fertilizer, etc.

They show up on time, do the work well with positive results.
