Above & Beyond Landscaping

I called on March 22 and they sent me a quote, which I accepted. Said they were booking two weeks out. I called back in 3, and they apologized and said they were still 2 weeks out. I said ok. Called again in two weeks, and asked them to please tell me if I should hire someone else so I could get the work done, and they said no, and asked if the next week would work. I said yes and gave them available days. It is May 36 and I have never heard from them. If give an “F”, but I reserve that for people who take your money and don’t perform the job, or who won’t fix a problem with their work.

I couldn’t be more pleased with Joseph and his crew. After two bad experiences with other landscapers, we hoped the third time would be the charm. It definitely was. We needed to have an old root system dug out of our front flower bed, new soil brought in, reshape the bed, and beds built. They did a fantastic job and listed to all of our needs. They didn’t try and push a bunch of other services on us that we didn’t need, and they did the work extremely fast. I would definitely recommend and I will be using them again in the future.

I've been using them for years. It takes a good half an hour at least. Usually four workers come out. They all do different things.

The reputation of a business is revealed not when things go right, but when things go wrong. (Think United Airlines) Above and Beyond Landscaping in Southlake does not go "above and beyond" and stand behind their work. They do not honor their verbal representations and replace trees that die (or, as in our case, partially die) within a year of planting. Even the Home Depot and Lowe's do that, and they don't plant them. We expected more for our significant investment. Mowing lawns is one thing, but high-end landscaping is another and requires a higher level of customer service. Sadly, Above and Beyond Landscaping does not meet that standard. Buyers beware. We recommend anyone looking for landscaping installation to find a professional and reputable firm that stands behind their work. If you do decide to use Above and Beyond Landscaping of Southlake, you may wish to get it in writing that they will warrantee their trees/plants. However, expect them to "mark up all plants 30% for that warranty." Their words, not ours. This would make them much higher priced than their competitors. We have the estimates to prove it. Also note that Above and Beyond Landscaping doesn't take kindly to criticism. Angie's list members, pay attention to how they blast a potential customer and let's see how they react to a paying customer.

Did a professional job. Well organized.

Despite impressive website, calling them several times on a weekday yielded nothing but Voicemail...a red flag I didn't heed. Finally got a rep who called me at ~6:00PM on a weekday and said most things they do is by email. Setup appointment with owner Joe via email who showed up on time. He was polite but just didn't seem very excited about his job/work. No salesmanship. Said he who email quote by "tomorrow night" which never occurred. I never received any correspondence from company. In short, despite his disparagement of other "men who are working out of the back of their truck", I got the distinct impression that Above & Beyond is just the same sort of non-full service, 'back-of-the truck' operation dressed up with a pretty website.

Above & Beyond has been our regular landscaper for a few years. Workers have logo shirts and trucks; they are efficient. This was our annual Spring prep, except they had uncrowded the front beds last Fall and I wanted to add 3 Encore Azaleas. Joseph advised against that because the location had too much sun. So I chose Belinda's Dream roses, said to prefer full sun, and Joseph went to 3 nurseries to find them. They look great, and so does my yard.

We were very pleased. We also use them for installing Christmas lights at our home. We've used them for this the last 3 years and they are terrific!

They are very responsive via email or phone.

They are very professional and are on time. They do what they're supposed to do and don't overcharge. He has been very helpful in getting my lawn to green up, too.

We have been very happy with their work. They are fast and do an excellent job! When we have needed any additional work done, (flower beds, trees, weeding, etc) we simply send an email. Joseph is very fast to respond with an estimate and then gets the job done ASAP! Would highly recommend Above & Beyond for great service!

We first used a special offer on Angie's List and continued service through the summer of 2014, until we moved away. A crew of four showed up each week, three cutters and one trimmer guy. I had 0.70 acres of land and they mowed it in about 40 minutes using hand mowers only. They trimmed very nicely around all sidewalks, stepping stones, and driveway. They then blow off all the hard surfaces, including around my pool area. Overall an excellent and professional job. I would still be using their service except we moved away from the area. Once I was on a trip (Not at home) and the company owner e-mailed me that they didn't cut the grass because "it didn't need it and the grass was too dry". I thought this was exceptional service. Billing is easy and we always paid on line.

They were fabulous. They come every week.

Joseph and his crew prepared the yard for new grass, removed all of the dead bushes and made the bed ready for new plants and mulch. The welcome rains delayed the work a bit, but the work is now complete and the makeover is beautiful! All the plants and bushes are a nice size and the grass is so green. He and his crew work well together and we definitely will call Above & Beyond to come and transform our backyard. We definitely got what we paid for and more! We highly recommend Above & Beyond for all landscape work.

Emailed asking for bi-weekly quote. Response was that he didn't start until summer. Asked when that was - he said April through Sept. Pointed out it was April already, his response was that he didn't do bi-weekly during those dates only weekly. Ok, could have said so in the beginning but gave benefit of the doubt and asked to quote for weekly going to bi-weekly after September. Asked for exact location of my Keller address as couldn't find on maps (it's a new subdivision but in center of a Keller) gave him exact location and response was that they don't service off that particular road. Really just felt he didn't want the business - would rather have been told that on the first email rather than wasting my time with numerous email responses.

I have used Joseph several times over the past year or so. He is the best of the best. Quality service and a fare price, every job of his is so organized from start to finish. There are never any surprises. He is very professional with superior communication during service. I wish everybody was like him.

We just moved to Southlake this summer. I found Joseph through Angie's List. He came to my house and provided an estimate on weekly lawn maintenance. $55 which is higher than most but he blows out the leaves from my pool deck and lawn and we have almost 1/2 an acre. He was willing to negotiate off his first price. He also provided advice on flower bed clean up and will weed from time to time without me asking - just includes the cost in the invoice. His invoices are payable online which I really like. He keeps an eye on the weather and sends his crew a day earlier if it will be raining on my appointed day (Friday which I like so the kids have shorter grass to play in on the weekends). He referred us to his twin brother Jonathan for sprinkler service which was also performed professionally. My husband and I have both been very happy with Joseph.

Our house is one of the best on the block, as I was watering one day, a neighbor stopped by and said how great it looked. Joseph is very responsive and kept me up to date on decisions around the look of the house as things came up-as they always do. He wasn't afraid to call in a tree service and get some plumbing assistance with a plugged sprinkler when it made sense. The company is great, and well run. I am continuing to use them for my regular service. Highly recommend.

I have used Above & Beyond Landscaping for several years and they were wonderful. I liked the punctuality, the communication, if they weren't going to be there, they called. If they were going to be late even 5 minutes, they called, I mean incredibly good in that.

Joseph and Above and Beyond Landscaping are my lawn guys, have used them for several years now. They do a great job, are reliable, professional, and respond quickly to special requests.

It all went beautifully. No problems. Excellent service. Their fees are very reasonable but will vary depending on the services you seek.

We had a great experience with Joseph. He came out to our home and had us describe what landscaping we wanted done to our back yard. He helped us to pick out the plants we wanted and arranged them in the back yard before they were planted so we could approve the layout. After the work was done Joseph contacted us and walked us through how to care for all of our new plants. The landscaping looks great and we are very happy with the job they did for us. The quality of their work was excellent and they were very reasonably priced. We would highly recommend Above and Beyond Landscaping to anyone.

Joseph came out a gave an estimate after I explained what I was looking for. His price was good but a little high. His team returned on the day promised and mowed the front and back lawns and also trimmed the front hedges and weeded the garden areas. Everything turned out very very well.

Excellent! Joseph is terrific to work with. His prices are fair and the work is perfect. I went from having the worst lawn in the neighborhood to the best.

The problems that I have with other people around here is that they do not show up when they are supposed to and act like that's ok. Above and Beyond shows up when they are supposed to and does everything they are supposed to do. They have always billed me correctly. If I want anything extra done, they will do that to. They are just a highly professional service and the best service people I've used around here. I recommend them to anyone.
