Response from San Antonio Landscaping And Design
I believe this review is a little unfair, so I thought I should respond. I met with the customer and we discussed design ideas. I have over a page of notes I took during this discussion that I referenced the entire time I was designing their landscape. I also have over 20 pictures I took. I then started the design. Customer went into the hospital for a week (it was a planned visit) and I waited until he got out and was feeling comfortable, to set up a time to meet and go over the design. We set up the day and time to meet.... and then they cancelled our appointment. We then reset another day and time to meet, and again they cancelled our appointment. At this time, I knew something wasn't quite right, so I called and told them I would email the design to them instead., which I did. I immediately got an email back saying it was a horrible design and we would not need to meet to go over it. I was a little surprised at both the curtness of the email and that is was so bad. I spent a week on this and I've done a lot of designs. I really thought it was pretty nice...and still do. I've also landscaped 3 other houses on their street and designed and landscaped the Model Homes on their street 10 years ago. Anyway, I emailed them back saying I could change anything in the design they did not like. Changing things in designs is very commonplace and I do it all the time, it's par for the course. I am easy to work with and don't mind changing things at all. I did not get any response to the 2 emails offering to do this. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I knew something was wrong...so, I offered to refund them their money. They responded immediately, so I refunded the full amount of the design to them. I then gave them a couple of referrals of other landscapers I've known for decades and I know are reputable. Listening to what people want is probably the most important aspect of my job. Which is why I take quite a few notes in every meeting with customers, just so I have it on paper in case I forget...and I have all of these notes as well. Anyway, I'm not sure how I could have handled this any differently than I did. I honestly tried everything I knew to satisfy them, up to and including refunding their money and giving them some good referrels. I hope things worked out for them. - Steve
