Brian Whitaker is a miracle worker! He did a complete kitchen remodel for us starting in July and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. Brian exceeded my expectations on every level. He took my outdated 80's kitchen and made it beautiful! Not really knowing what to expect, I put this off for many years and finally decided after 40 some years that we needed to move forward with this project. Brian is very meticulous in everything he does and very detail oriented. I am very particular also (picky actually, lol) so we were a good match to work together. Brian was considerate in every way to leave as much functionality in kitchen as possible and went through the extra effort to put the countertops back in place and leave the sink and stove as long as possible so we would have some semblance of normality in kitchen. He did an outstanding job on the cabinets and had the excellent idea to continue the crown molding all around the kitchen. Fantastic is all I can say! One of my favorite renovations he did was replace/enlarge the shelves in my pantry to make more room for storage and add a pantry light. This may seem like a minor thing but I am so excited to have all the extra space! I have hated my pantry for years lol. Brian also was very gracious to complete my added requests as we moved along in the project. My kitchen looked so good I asked him to repaint my adjacent dining room. And he refinished my front door and did an excellent job. Brian was very easy to work with and accommodated all of my changes I made along the way (bought a new stove at the last minute and changed my mind on a light fixture after he installed). He never complained or acted annoyed with me. He did most of the work himself except for countertops and tile and the subcontractors were also excellent. Brian cleaned up every day as much as possible and was conscientious about keeping as much of the construction dust out of my living area by sealing off the kitchen as necessary. All in all, I can't say enough good things about Brian. He is honest, personable, innovative, and punctual. I would never consider hiring anyone else to complete any projects in my home. I only wish I had found him before I had my other home renovations done. But the good news is I already have an estimate from Brian for my home office/bedroom. Can't wait to work with him again (it will be after Christmas). I feel very blessed to have found such a great person to work with and highly recommend him. He is the best you will ever find.
My wife and highly recommend Brian Whitaker. We have found him to be reliant, friendly, and a master at his trade. He completely remodeled our two baths, which included medicine cabinets he built himself. When Harvey flooded our home, Brian came to the rescue and directed the restoration. To this day, whenever we need a helping hand, Brian is who we call.
Description of Work: Most recently, interior patching and painting.
Brian shows up on time and cleans up daily. He does beautiful work. If you don’t hire Whitaker Home Repair Remodeling you have made your first mistake. I cannot say enough about his work or character. He is an artist with a paint brush!!
Description of Work: Remodeling - Kitchen, Bathroom, and due to fire and a bad contractor - Brian stepped in took over and fixed and completed the job to perfection. I am hard to please but have hired Brian 3 times.
Very well. Mr. Whitaker has repaired & remodel several places I have called home. His is honest & the finished projects are beautiful. When he discovers a problem in these older homes, he corrects them instead of just covering them up. His cabinets are lovely & made to assist my limited mobility.
Description of Work: Remodeling - Kitchen & Bathroom
Brian Whitaker is a complete professional from estimate to job completion. I'd recommend his work to anyone. Brian kept us informed of what was going to happen each day so it was very easy to schedule our lives & the life of our pets around a home remodel. Once the job started it became a treat to come home each day to see what had been accomplished and there was visible daily progress from start to finish. Brian's written plans, detailed invoicing and digital mockups made it easy to understand exactly what was going to be done and what we were paying for. There was never a misunderstanding over the cost or scope of the job. Add-ons & changes were easily processed and Brian's experience help in our decision making process. Thanks Brian.

Brian is a first class act all the way. He is a perfectionist and cleans up each day. He is punctual and very pleasant to work with. My wife and I could not be happier with the quality of the work and the professionalism displayed by Brian and his contractors. I would not hesitate to use him again. The only negative is that because he does such a great job and insists on doing much of the work himself he is hard to schedule.
Description of Work: Replace old shower and tub, all new tile in bathroom. Took down old box florescent lighting and installed new LED lighting in kitchen. Repainted ceiling.
Brian remodeled our guest bathroom. We were so pleased with his work that we had him back to do the master bath. He built a tile walk-in shower where the tub was, installed tile flooring, tore out our old double vanity top and put in granite with double sinks and he hand crafted an attractive medicine cabinet to go between the sinks. He installed double sconce lighting above the sinks. He also installed new mirrors. He installed a new toilet. He did all of the plumbing except moving and installing the drain in the shower. He installed a new electric outlet beside the sink, new overhead light and a new exhaust fan. Brian painted all the cabinets and installed new hardware. He removed the popcorn ceiling and textured all the walls before painting. I am sure I have omitted some work, but this gives you some idea of what Brian did for us. Brian is punctual and hard working. He is easy to get along with, flexible and attentive to your needs. He is a true craftsman and does excellent work. I actually enjoyed Brian being here and will certainly call him for future repairs to our home.

Description of Work: I have used Whitaker Home Repair Remodeling on multiple projects. The latest was an estimate for remodeling kitchen. Mr. Whitaker was very helpful and straightforward about what he could do for my remodel. I selected another company for this work but appreciated the communication and information Mr Whitaker provided. I will definitely use this company again.

Excellent. The work was done quickly and we were also up to date with him. He is really a good worker and work was excellent.
Description of Work: sheet rock work and trim work
Excellent work by a very conscientious contractor. Meticulous millwork on all cabinetry with very tight seams and beautiful crown molding. Discussed and resolved all item selections with us in a timely manner. Great subcontractors on the tile and countertops; otherwise Brian did everything himself, including delivery and installation of some rather large cabinet items. Handled all plumbing himself, including moving ductwork and plenum for one A/C system air drop. Handled all electrical work himself as well, including all LED lighting, wiring and switches. Cleaned up after himself everyday. Maintained great communication on timing and planning for this very large job that consumed a couple months of time. Reinstalled our existing cooktop and sink so that we would have a functional kitchen throughout the duration of the job. Allowed us to choose everything and counseled us on pros and cons along the way, based on his experience. Great experience overall, and the results are a kitchen that we are very proud of! Will use again for future remodeling of other portions of our house.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel. 1) Removal of all old cabinets. 2) Removal of all old appliances, including range hood over cooktop. 3) Removal of existing ceiling light box with multiple 4ft fluorescent light fixtures. 4) Removal of 20-24 inch fur-downs from ceiling around most of kitchen perimeter, and support wood framing. 5) Custom-built cabinets (base and wall) with solid maple, stained and glazed to our specifications. 6) Custom-built free-standing center island cabinets, with longer dimensions from original. 7) Custom dimensions provided us with cabinets up to the ceiling with glass inserts on door fronts and lighting on top cabinets. 8) Drywall installed to cover large box cutout from the ceiling box fixture. 9) Removed old shelving and rebuilt the pantry room with new support system. 10) Installed new appliances including re-ducting fume hood over cooktop. 11) Installed and wired new LED canned lights in ceiling. 12) Installed and wired new LED puck lighting in top glass-door cabinets. 13) Installed and wired new LED pendant lights over center kitchen island. 14 Oversaw installation of new quartz countertops on all base cabinets and center island. 15) Textured and painted all walls, pantry & kitchen entry doors, ceiling, and all trim. 16) Contracted excellent tile contractor to install our tile selection for the backsplash.

Brian did all the woodwork himself and his subs did the tile work. Everything was done with care and professionalism. The end result was visually stunning and a testament to his skills. He checked in with me often prior to and during the work to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. And I did!
Description of Work: Brian remodeled my fireplace. He re-tiled the fireplace wall and custom built a new mantle and bookcase adjoining the fireplace (fireplace itself was installed by a different contractor).
We are absolutely joyful about the results. Brian worked with us and figured out how to do everything we asked for. The results far exceeded our expectations. Brian was very positive and worked with us on changes (small) during the project. He is definitely a master cabinet maker. His work is precise and exact. He cleaned up at the end of every day and minimized the daily impact to our lives by keeping some functionality in the kitchen on most days. We was always punctual and left at around 5:30 pm every day which minimized the impact to our lives. The cabinet work was excellent. The new doors and drawer fronts were beautiful, sturdy, and well built. He built a matching small cabinet on rollers to go beside the refrigerator (so that a different size refrigerator can be used in the future). He was able to make excellent recommendations for the items we needed for the remodeling - ovens, tiles, paint, switch plates, etc. We plan in the future to have him remodel our bathrooms.
Description of Work: Brian remodeled the kitchen and carried the painting into the den and living room, including replacing doors and adding crown molding. He kept the basic kitchen structure and painted it, added new doors and drawer fronts, installed new ovens, installed recessed lighting, and installed new counter tops and back splash. The house is 43 years old, so a lot of repairs were done to walls, doors, etc.

Showed me the work in progress. Brian is very meticulous in the way he works. He is very open to changing plans (I changed plans 3 times).

Perfect. Brain was clean, on time, and beautiful workmanship. Excellent painter. I will be using him again in 2015. Consider this when you think about pricing - Brian does it all you do not have to call in a plumber or electrican. He is a one man show and deserves high marks

I will write more once I am done editing my pics for lighting. It took longer than I would have liked however, being a small bath (built in 1969) only one person could work in there at a time. Tight spaces require loose timelines. :)

I have used Angie's List several times with good results. I'd put Brian at the top of the list of contractors in all catagories. He comunicated well, was on time, enjoyed his work, paid attention to detail, and always did a good job. You can trust him. We had far less anxiety about this job than any other in the past. We have already placed our name on the list for a remodel of our master bathroom in the fall.
Description of Work: Retiled guest bathroom shower, installed new tub and fixtures, installed granite vanity countertop, double sinks and fixtures. Built countertop medicine cabinet. Installed double lights over the counter and hung mirrors. Hung towels racks and toilet paper holder. Removed popcorn ceiling and prepared all surfaces for painting. Put in new exhaust fan. Painted walls, ceilings, doors and installed hardware on 2 doors.

In fact he is so good and so busy now that I can't get him to come back for the kinds of small jobs I have left to do That's my only issue with him ... and it's a good one to have, if you have a job that is big enough to warrant his time. You will be pleased with the results and his pricing was fair.
Description of Work: Brian was excellent and really knew what he was doing as they retiled an old tub surround and installed new fixtures.
Brian and his associate Sammy, who does the tile work, were wonderful. Brian took down the the old window box fluorescent light fixture and installed can lights throughout the kitchen and pendant lights over the island. This involved running new wire for new switches, cutting trenches in the ceiling sheetrock, removing the popcorn ceiling texture, patching the sheetrock, taping and bedding, texturing, and repainting the ceiling. Where other contractors from whom we got estimates tried to shortcut the process to avoid all of that work, Brian approached it matter-of-factly as the right way to do the work. He also went above and beyond to place the can lights where we wanted them. We could not be more pleased with the outcome. The only work Brian outsources is granite, but he is there every step of the way during the installation process. When the granite company made some pretty big errors, Brian was our advocate and insisted that they go back and do the job correctly even though it delayed the project a bit. Sammy and Brian really went above and beyond when it came to the backsplash tile. The tile we chose was difficult and expensive and there were some installation issues. When it didn't look the way we wanted, they tore it out and redid it giving us a beautiful backsplash in the end. Our kitchen presented some unexpected challenges and scope changes, but they were taken in stride. The changes did result in some increases in cost above the original estimate, but Brian spelled out the changes for us ahead of time and was always clear about cost changes. He never once tried up-sell us and rolled with what we threw at him. In addition to all of the above, Brian and Sammy cleaned up every day, showed up promptly every day and were incredibly pleasant to have around. They worked six days a week most weeks, and stressed that they wanted us to be happy with the end result. They made a kitchen re-do as painless as possible. We actually missed them when they were gone and will have them back to remodel our master bath when funds permit. To the folks who complained about the $50 charge for an estimate - if you hire Brian, you are credited the money back, and it is well worth it to get one of the best guys in the business.
Description of Work: Our 1980's kitchen and bar area needed new lighting, new countertops, and new appliances. Brian and Sammy handled it all beautifully.

Brian Whitaker did most of the work himself. He listened to our desires and tailored his work to conform to our wishes. Each day after work was complete, he cleaned his work area and allowed us to experience very little inconvenience. The quality was top notch.
