Description of Work: Jim Maas designed our landscaping after finding out our likes/dislikes, goals, etc. We are do-it-yourselfers. He gave us all we needed to know to set aside the space, prepare the soil, and do a successful planting. All plants and materials were purchased from Maas.

Description of Work: We met with Daniel in April 2014. He took photos of our back yard, we worked a budget and he was going to send us his design ideas. The pictures never came. In May I just walked into Maas Nursery and Danield sat down with us and showed us his ideas, though they entire plan was not finished. He told us he would complete it and send it to us. He did tell us that his father was ill and he was going to him frequently and this was the cause of the delays. Time went by and still nothing in e-mail or by phone. Weeks passed and though I called many times and left messages, no one returned those calls. Finally I just went back to the nursery intending to ask for someone else to do the work. Daniel was there. It was now June and we set the date. I told him that we had tired of waiting for someone to come and clean up the space from his crew or a friend he had suggested. We hired some other people to clean out the leaves and get things ready. On the scheduled day two workers came and began to clean the yard. They had no plants, had never seen the plans, and Daniel was not with them. I showed them the photos of what was to be done. I stopped them, they called Daniel and returned to Maas. They came back with Daniel that afternoon with plants and planted them. Two plants were missing and Daniel said the ones on hand at the store weren't great, so those would be planted later. They left without finishing the trimming of the rest of the backyard. I had to call Daniel and he sent a two man crew to finish on another day which had to be stopped due to rain and lightening. One man came back a few days later and attempted to trim the tops of some Myrtles with one long pole cutter. No ladder. That was the last few days of June. It is now the 12th of July. Three of the large plants are dead or near dead; the two yet to be planted have not arrived and I cleaned up a trash can full of cuttings after the man left. The mulch is so thinly distributed that watering plants washes it away. This is not hyperbole - most of the plants I could have installed myself. They just dug a hole and stuck a plant in it. They did a terrific job creating a little path to a shed with stone from another part of the garden. I understand Daniel's need to care for his ailing father father. He most definitely needed to focus his attention on his father though I would have at least expected the nursery to take over the jobs he had on the books. My garden looks as if I did it and that is so disappointing. I felt as if this job was unimportant to Maas and in the end we got a second string crew of two people, one of whom told me twice " I usually don't do this kind of thing" as he sat on the patio.

Description of Work: Maas Nursery provided a non-scale design plan for our front yard. They provided a plant and material list with illustration so that we could purchase and install plants ourselves. This plan is free, the $600 cost refers to the plants and materials we purchased.

Description of Work: We requested an extension to a sidewalk from the house entry to the street sidewalk. This extension would allow guests to come up from the street and not have to walk up the driveway.

Description of Work: No work performed but garden experts provided recommendations for addressing scale infestation of plants. Very knowledgeable, excellent variety of plants and accessories but price was a little too high for most offerings

Description of Work: purchased fruit trees from Maas. Have a terrific selection of everything and need a return visit to just see what I missed the first time.

Description of Work: Developed a nice landscaping plan for the front yard for $90 as agreed; however the plan was based on drawing and photographs which could not reflect the extent of slope from the house to the street and potential conflict of tree roots. Rather than purchasing the landscape we just went with a flagstone path from the driveway to the front porch. It ended up being pretty expensive and we were charged extra for something that I thought was included in the scope of work. Basically, considering they are located in Seabrook and we are in Spring, over an hour from our house, we should have tried to find a contractor closer to home.
