Fresh Coat did an outstanding job on our house exterior paint job. Chad and his team have our house looking new again. The team was very professional and courteous. Chad contacted me on the weekend to confirm the start time on Monday, and my husband and I set about moving furniture, taking down wall-hangings and curtains, and dismantling our lives in the rooms his crew would be painting. Chad showed up promptly as he had on the prior visits to create the estimate and to obtain the deposit. When I left the house Monday morning, having settled on the schedule and next steps, Chad was taking final measurements and waiting for the rest of his crew to arrive and start the work. As it happens, that was the end of my positive experience, but I wouldn't find this out until late afternoon. My husband called me 6.5 hours later, having arrived at home to report that no one was there working and nothing had been done. After contacting Chad he returned my call to report that he had severely underbid the job and was going to lose money on it so couldn't complete the work after all, despite the fact that I had made a deposit on the agreed-to fee for service. Chad offered to refund the deposit. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked for the revised figures. He sent me a revised bid (that was 33% higher), but after reflecting on how he had handled the situation I was no longer comfortable proceeding with having his company handle our job. I find it unprofessional that he didn't communicate with me at the time that he discovered his mistake, never mind the fact that he didn't honor the quote for which I had already made a 20% deposit. Chad agreed to refund the deposit late yesterday afternoon, but I am still waiting to have that deposit returned to my credit card 18 hours after the fact. I understand that it can be difficult to bid jobs sometimes, but one should honor their commitment, or at a minimum be willing to take responsibility when mistakes are made. I am so disappointed this has happened and hope this review will help others avoid what we have gone through.
