Andre came out and gave us an estimate. He explained the process and what to expect. He gave us a call the day before the crew was to come out and told us what time to expect the crew. The crew arrived right on time and were able to complete the job in one day instead of 2. We obtained a total of 4 estimates and reviewed the reviews on Angie's list. We also checked to see if they are actually listed on the BBB's website. Honesty had great reviews and is listed on the BBB website. They gave us the best price, they were very professional and considerate. Our house is now level and our doors close with ease. Thank you Honesty!!!

As awful as foundation work is to have done, Joe and his crew made it as painless as possible. I've had previous work done by another large company and was very disappointed by the quality of the work, so I had an idea on how the process would go. Pricing was competitive. HIRE THIS COMPANY. Thanks, Joe, Jody, Andre and crew.

Everything went well and just as Josh had told us. He's very experienced and knows what he's doing and was conscientious about his employees taking their time so our marble walk-in shower enclosure and the glass doors wouldn't be cracked. They were able to finish the job in one day and even stayed longer to level some steps for us which we hadn't even discussed before. It would've been physically hard for my husband to do that so we really appreciated that.
Description of Work: Our almost 40 year old pier and beam house needed to be leveled badly. I called Honesty Foundation and Josh came out quickly and told us what needed to be done. We not only needed to have the back of the house leveled but we had an inner wall that was sagging and needed to be stabilized and leveled.

Hi [Member Name Removed], I am very sorry that we dropped the ball and did not get back in touch with you to set up an appointment to evaluate your home, this is not our normal level of service as you should see from our other reviews. It certainly was not intentional, we strive to get back in touch with all of our clients on the same day that they contact us, your email message must have been overlooked in the process. We do our best but certainly are not perfect. Please accept our sincere apologies, Joe

Fantastic, from start to finish. Andre came to check the foundation and was very thorough and careful in measuring the elevation of different parts of the house. He explained the plan thoroughly, and the price matched what we paid at the end of the work. Joe, the owner, appeared promptly the day of repair and explained to me what they were going to do. He stayed in touch as the work went on and was so pleasant and thoughtful throughout. This company goes above and beyond. In the pictures you can see that my landscaping looks undisturbed -- actually, they put all the edging rocks back nicer than they were (and I swear cleaner) originally, and the plants were all cared for. There was maybe 2 yards of really nice soil that came out with the digging. Rather than pile it at the side of the house, Joe asked where I might be able to use it in my gardens and to level spots in the lawn. Then the guys not only trucked it all back to my raised bed -- they leveled it and smoothed it out -- and then they leveled some of the low spots in the lawn with the lower-quality clay that also came out by the wheelbarrowful. When I came home and saw the house all put back, the cracks in our tiles closed, and even the vegetable garden nice and tidy, I could have cried with relief. It is stressful to have your home crack apart. These are the guys to hire when it happens, because they will put it back together. Joe let me know when the work was going to get really loud in case I wanted to take off with my kids for a while. He checked all the doors after the house was leveled to make sure everything closed properly. Oh, and the bid was just about half the estimate from another well-reviewed company here in town. And I saw how deep the digging went and how many sections of piling went into the 16 holes they dug around the foundation. You will not regret choosing this company.

In the trenching operation the crew severed not only the root but also a sprinkler system pipe. This was not discovered until a few days later when I started the system and got a gusher. I called Joe and he immediately came to investigate and repair the broken pipe. I believe the outcome was as good as could be expected under the circumstances. I chose Joe's approach to dealing with the root over the much more expensive route of demolishing the patio, removing the root and rebuilding the patio.
Description of Work: A large tree root was pushing up under a patio slab. Joe's crew trenched around the root, severed it. installed three piers to stabilize the slab and installed a root barrier to prevent future root invasion. Even though it was not quoted, the crew raised the adjacent slab by about 1/4 inch to make the two slabs more even. The intruding root could not be removed as quoted.

Our house was having horizontal cracking in the exterior brick and linear cracking in the tile floors in the kitchen. We obtained estimates from multiple foundation companies. All said the house was just barely in tolerance to pass inspection, but each offered very different proposals for what to do at this time. ** Honesty Foundation is owned and operated by Joe Winter. The company phone number is Joe’s cell phone. When I called, Joe answered right away and came out that same day to evaluate the house. He did electronic measurements to determine the elevation differences, drew up an estimate that included some different options, and took his time explaining everything to us. After we had another estimate performed, I called Joe back with additional questions which he answered very helpfully and honestly. I called Joe a third time to ask about prep work we might need to do on our deck to give the crew access and he volunteered to come straight over and discussed it with us in person. ** We selected Honesty Foundation because the approach to our situation was the most appropriate given that our house wasn’t all that badly broken. And the price was very reasonable. Plus, Joe has a dedicated full time crew that has been with him for years. He doesn’t require any money up front; payment is made after the work is completed. ** We scheduled the work for a couple weeks out. The day before work was to begin Joe called to confirm they would be there the next day. Joe arrived with the crew the first morning, reviewed with us the work to be performed and let us know that he would be stopping by periodically throughout the job; which he did. Each day the crew arrived shortly after 7 am and worked until about 5 pm. The crew was very polite, professional, and all wore Honesty Foundation shirts. When it came time to perform the leveling, Joe himself was the one that supervised the leveling. ** Most slab houses have beams that are between 1 foot and 2 feet deep. Turns out our slab beams are closer to 3 feet deep. The crew discovered this early in the job. Joe came out and talked to us about the extra labor involved to dig the much deeper holes and the associated cost and time. The revised job estimate was 4 days instead of 2. ** The second night it rained. The crew was back out early on the third day prepared to pump the water out of the holes. It rained again at mid-day. The crew worked through the sprinkles and only stopped when it got to a down pour. So they took their lunch break during the rain and got back after it when the rain stopped. No complaining or grumbling, just adjusting and moving on with the job. The fourth day was sunny and breezy and the crew completed the cleanup in mid-afternoon. Joe came by mid-day and walked around the house with us to be sure the plants, etc were placed where they should be. He came back at the end to be sure we were satisfied with how the crew left everything. When we settled up for the additional labor that had been required, Joe split the difference with us. Very top notch. ** We highly recommend Honesty Foundation. The scope of work was appropriate; no attempt to sell us more than we needed. The price was extremely fair. The crew was very experienced, professional, and friendly. This is truly an owner operated local business that cares about customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: We had our house and detached car port leveled. Both are slab with beam. Total of 30 exterior piers; 24 around perimeter of house and 6 around perimeter of car port. Estimate to do work was 2 days; actual work took 4 days due to our slab beams being much deeper than normal. Lifetime transferrable warranty.

My home had developed many cracks in the sheetrock on the ceiling (inside house). My garage had cracks top, bottom and sides. The trim on my house had begun to separate in many areas. I called 4 foundation companies to come and evaluate the situation. Andre came from Honesty. He was on time, professional and very friendly. Andre was very honest and seemed to really care about fixing my home. Andre was the only one out of the 4 companies that actually called me back within a day or two to check in. This showed me they wanted my business and cared. I narrowed it down to 2 companies and went with Honesty because of their ratings, they seem to have high standards and care about their reputation. They showed up at the exact time they said they would and wasted no time getting started. The owner Joe got the crew started and came back at the time of leveling. The crew was very nice and friendly. I had 15 piers put all around the front of my home (included 4 breakouts). They completed this work in 1 day! They were here from 7am to 4pm. Many of my original cracks closed upon leveling. After the leveling, the cement on my driveway is very uneven because of the shifting of my house. This had nothing to do with Honesty and was to be expected with the work I had done. I will have to re-cement my driveway. I would highly recommend Honesty Foundation to anyone needing these kind of repairs. Joe, Andre and all the crew- THANK YOU!

I would highly recommend them. It was a free estimate. He was wonderful. Basically he was like I didn't need anything right now. He was like I'm going to leave these drawings with you and you're probably good to go. I'd never had anybody come in and give me an honest opinion to say that you don't really need this. I was very impressed with that.

We bought a house that needed foundation repair. A structural engineer reviewed the foundation and determined that it required 76 piles, interior and on the perimeter. The quotation process with Honesty was easy, no haggling and very responsive. They began the work promptly and completed the work on schedule, for $500 less than the quoted price. Because the foundation repair was financed through a bank, we had to get a structural engineer to review the property and make sure it was done correctly. When the structural engineer reviewed the work, he found and pointed out several, obvious deficiencies, sagging brick lines, door jambs that were crooked, visible cracks. But to be fair, this was an old house, built in the 1950's, some things were to be expected. The larger issue was that the house wasn't leveled to within the 1.5" variance or the American Concrete Institute (ACI) standard. Honesty came out and after some wrangling, they performed some adjustments. When the structural engineer came back out, he performed his measurements to determine if the house was within the 1.5" standard, it wasn't. At this point, Honesty truly became disagreeable, questioning whether or not I'd seen the measurements done (I had), the type of instrument used to do the measuring (I'd watched it calibrate), the method used to measure (consistent from the very beginning), and finally the integrity of the structural engineer (who despite pointing out obvious, visible signs of a poor leveling job, withheld his approval solely based on an objective, measurable standard). To be fair, Honesty came out, performed additional leveling based off the measurements of the structural engineer, reviewed and paid for the reassessment by the structural engineer, and finally we gained the necessary approval for completion. But consider, with an objective measurable standard, we had to have three different assessments by a third party to get them to perform the job correctly. Later, during another phase of house renovation, we discovered that we had a broken drain in a bathroom. We'd had two inspections of the bathroom before renovations began, once by a general inspector, another hydrostatic test by a plumbing inspector along with a camera. In each inpsection, the drain was working. Now, immediately after the house foundation repair, the drain was broken. We contacted Honesty to ask for their assistance in the drain repair. They replied that it wasn't their responsibility, producing an unsigned contract, which we'd never reviewed or been presented, that indemnified them from responsibility from associated damage. We provided to them a contract, which they had previously signed, from the mortgage company, that said that associated damage would be their responsibility. In response, Honesty denied that they inflicted the damage (which admittedly we did not witness, because we have jobs), said that we would need to have hydrostatic testing done to prove it, immediately before and after (impossible, because the drain had already been repaired to move forward with other work), and used other language that suggested that we would need to sue to get them to do the right thing. All of this to say, is it worth it to do business with Honesty? Do you have an extra $4500 (the cost of the repair), lawyer on staff, or structural engineer to ensure that they do the work correctly? My advice, is to keep on to the next company. I strongly considered not posting this review, but walking through the house with multiple doors that stick, and cracks appearing around the house, just further frustrates the situation.

There are a number of inaccurate statements in this review but I will attempt to keep this as short as possible. The client purchased a home that was 60+ years old with pipes that were also 60+ years old. We leveled the home, the mortgage company hired an engineer to perform an inspection, I actually paid their engineer to come out and meet me at the home to make sure that I was addressing his concerns properly and we determined that one area needed a slight adjustment to address a sagging point which I corrected and this engineer gave his full stamp of approval on our leveling job. This did not take three inspections to get us out and make corrections and we were in no way disagreeable until SIX MONTHS later when she contacted us and requested that we pay thousands of dollars to have her very old plumbing replaced. We have a contract that is very similar to all foundation companies in the state, rigid items such as tile, sheet rock, pipes and various other items can be damaged during the leveling process and this is the home owners’ responsibility to repair those items. If we cause a problem due to our negligence, such as breaking a pipe while digging, we will repair it at the time it happens. Rigid items can be damaged during the lifting and leveling process and with a home this old having 60 year old cast iron pipes those pipes likely had deterioration causing weakness prior to our lift. The problem they are stating is a drain that was not working six months after our leveling job was completed. We did lift this home though and this process causes movement which can cause damage to rigid structures. There is not any other foundation company in this state that we are aware of that will cover the cost of repairing plumbing that is damaged due to the lifting process. Nor will they pay for sheet rock repairs, or broken tiles, these are all items that can be affected by the leveling process and they are the home owners’ responsibility to repair. We were the ones that brought up the 'hydro-static' testing to the client initially, kindly trying to suggest in the future if she continues to purchase older investment properties like this that she may want to do this prior to purchasing the home to check the integrity of the pipes prior to purchasing. It is good to know if you have original pipes or if they have already been replaced, and what condition are they are in before you buy. They never presented us with any prior inspections and when she later mentioned that she did have a hydro-static test done prior to our work she refused to supply us with a copy of that test or the inspection, but that is irrelevant anyhow as it would not have changed the outcome, they just would have been less likely to have a broken drain issue if the pipes had already been replaced and were not the original 60+ year old pipes, this is why we suggest this prior to purchasing an older home like this. The client did not meet us when we did our initial evaluation but a copy of our contract was left there for them to review. We also did sign a contract from their mortgage company that stated something about accidental damage such as if a worker breaks a window or puts a hole in a wall, we would be responsible for those repairs. This issue was not a problem of negligence or an accident by one of our workers. It is possible the drain already had an issue, but if not then it was the result of the lifting process and the existence old deteriorating pipes and we cannot be responsible for 4500.00 of tunneling and materials that were required to replace very old pipes that may have broken due to us performing the job we were hired to do, or may have already been broken when the home was purchased as we were never supplied with any evidence otherwise when requested. We always take extreme care in the leveling process to perform the lift slowly, with integrity and balance, to limit any such damage as much as possible but movement from the lifting process can cause damage to rigid materials in the home, this is beyond our control and responsibility. As you stated, this was a very old home and issues should have been expected, but we cannot be held responsible for very old already deteriorating pipes.

I have a concern that I didn't know if it is a handyman or foundation related work. I decided to contact a foundation company just to be sure. Joe answered the phone immediately when I called. He understood my concern right away, and started giving me step-by-step instructions on how to fix it myself, from shopping for the right material to finishing the job properly. He made it clear that it's a simple and inexpensive DIY job. He explained each step in details, and answered all my questions. Now I am eager to get this DIY project started. Per my request, Joe gave me an estimate if I decide not to take the DIY approach, and the estimate is very reasonable. Also, since he answered the phone himself, my concern was addressed right away. I truly appreciate his help. Thanks again Joe!

We hired Honesty Foundation to level our house. The price we were given was $2,000, which we paid. They started working on the house leveling, but one of the workers noticed that 8 of the joists were crushed on the ends, so he said that the joist ends needed to be replaced. This work would be an additional $1,200. Since it needed to be done, we paid the additional amount as well. The total job was $3,200. They first replaced the joist ends, and then they tried to level the house. However, they were not able to level it. They said, due to the way the house was built, it could not be leveled. Since they were not able to level the house, I requested a refund of $2,000. I didn't dispute the $1,200 since they did replace the joists (to my knowledge). However, since they did not level the house, then I requested the house-leveling fee of $2,000 to be refunded. I e-mailed them this request on 8/2/2015, but I have not heard from them.

The client’s first complaint and only attempt to contact to us regarding any concerns was via email one year after our work was completed. We were on vacation at the time that he sent his initial email with a complaint and requesting a refund, he then filed his complaint to Angie’s List 6 days later before we could return and properly research his request and respond to him. We are currently working with the home owner that contracted us as well as her son who filed this complaint and will be meeting them both at the job site this coming week. In response, it must be stated that when remodeling or restoring a home, the leveling and foundation repair must be the first step. We were contacted to perform leveling on this home after a complete home remodel had been completed. The client was already upset with the contractors who performed this remodeling work prior to contracting with us. The home was visually in pristine condition from the remodel but the home was not level and there was a noticeable slope in the living room. We did discuss with her that by lifting/leveling the home the movement may cause damage to the recently remodeled home but we would do our best to lift and level to the point where we would together need to decide if we would go further or stop the lifting to avoid any visible damage. Initially we were contracted to level the structure and install two piers near the front for 2000.00. Not until we were underneath the home and well into the work process did we notice the substandard work that had been performed by the previous contractors, several beam ends beneath the home were rotting and crushed and a portion of the existing living room flooring was laid directly upon a hollow concrete patio slab. The concrete slab should have been removed and replaced with proper beams and joists in order to properly support the living room during the remodel. We went back to the home owner at that time to discuss what was found, we made several recommendations. They chose to replace the crushed beam ends resulting in an additional 1200.00. We replaced the 8 rotting beams, replaced 15 joists, installed the two new piers and we did lift and level the home as much as possible until we could both (home owner and myself) see that movement was visually causing flooring to pull from walls and exterior siding was moving and was about to cause visible damage. We provided a two year warranty on all beam work installed and for adjustments to the leveling that was completed. Her son has stated that we did not complete the work of the initial 2000.00 quote and is requesting a refund, we did install the two piers as well as level the home to the best of our abilities as was initially contracted. We can come back out and continue to adjust/level and are meeting with home owners this Tuesday to review the home and discuss these options but we needed to post a response prior to our meeting as Angie’s List had a deadline for our response. It is unlikely we will provide a complete refund as we did complete the contracted work to the best of our abilities and all issues that did arise were previously mentioned in our contract as possible issues and were discussed thoroughly directly with the home owner prior to and while the work was taking place, we will now review these issues with her son who is making this complaint and will discuss possible options/warranty adjustments/etc. We can continue to level and make further adjustments where needed if requested but it will possibly cause damage to the existing flooring, siding and interior walls of the home which are currently in very good condition. We cannot level small a section of the living room that is currently residing upon a hollow concrete patio as it will not support the weight/pressure of the leveling process and will likely crumble. We did level the remainder of the structure to the best of our abilities without causing visible damage to the remodeled interior and exterior, and we installed two piers as contracted in the original 2000.00 quote that they are requesting to have refunded. We also replaced the 8 crushed beams as well as 15 joists that were found later for an additional 1200.00 and provided leveling in those areas as well. We do and will provide warranty adjustments at no cost to the home owner for two years from the original work date as was stated in the original contract. I understand that she is upset about the entire situation, but most of the issues surrounding this were the result of the substandard practices that the original remodeling contractor took and we can only do so much without completely tearing out and rebuilding the living room floor as it should have been done initially which is not what we were contracted to do. We are happy to provide the warranty work and re-adjust leveling as necessary and we will openly discuss all options with our client and her son. The client’s son is requesting a refund stating that we did not complete the stated work, but we did complete all of the contracted work and are happy to provide adjustments to that work as is outlined in our contract and warranty. We will do our best to bring this situation to a positive ending, our clients satisfaction is our priority.

What a great group of people, honest and fair. Came out on time and was extremely honest and professional. No sales pitch, went to work on the inspection and thankfully it came back all clear. Will definitely to friends and family should they have issues with their foundations!

I was very relieved to find out I did not have foundation problems and also appreciated all the extra advice as to what to watch for if foundations problems should occur. I offered to pay for the time and effort Mr Wells put into checking my foundation but he refused to take any payment just ask that I put in a good word and recommend him to anyone needing foundation work. I wish I had know about this company before my son had to have 24 pilings placed under his foundation--I think he would have gotten much better pricing and a know Honesty Foundation would have done an excellent job.
Description of Work: I called Joe Winters Co, after reading a lot of good reviews on Angie's list, because I had an area of water damage that had never happened before during a storm 4/19. There was a bald Cypress in this area which I had removed Jan. 2014 because I was told root system would crack my foundation and was afraid this is what had happen. Awore Wells scheduled to come out very quickly after my call and arrived when promised. Mr Wells spent well over an hour checking my foundation and measuring the various levels of my house. He found no real foundation problems and said over all my house was fairly level althought the north side where I had the water problem was 1/2 inch lower than the rest of the house and was probably due to normal settling. Suggested I keep an eye on the area; perhaps put in some dainage but did not need any piling unless that side of house dropped more than 1 1/2 inches.

Joe Winter's came out at the appointment time to my house. He did an initial review of the exterior then politely came in without his muddy shoes and reviewed the interior of the home. He explained his process during the entire appointment. He gave me great tips on what to look for even in the future regarding our old home and changes in the foundation. He also provided an elevation map of our home which will serve as the basis for our foundation in the future. He was VERY HONEST about what our needs were. Considering he also grows and sells organic produce, before he left he also gave me tips on a garden I want for my backyard. I felt very comfortable with Mr. Winter. If ever we need foundation work, he will be the man I call. All foundation work is not created equal and Honesty Foundation is the REAL DEAL!

Joe Winter originally came to our home and did an inspection. His advice at the time was to wait a year as the floors were still level enough to meet code tolerences. After a year there was some additional shifting so we called to have him come out and remeasure. Based on that remesure he offered a two teir plan, fix one side of the home and see how it affects the other section. Based on his reccomendation we leveld one side of the home. His crew showed up on time usually around 7am. They were polite and took the time to keep the area as clean as possible, not easy with 17 deep holes in the yard. They also made a few adjustments after they were on site to their lifting plan to better accomidate our home. The house is now level and meet the drawings discussed. We plan to use this team again if the other part of the house has any additional shifting.

I am very pleased with the job Joe and his crew did. They were all very professional, very knowledgeable about their work, and very polite and friendly. The price of the job was extremely reasonable, too! It was very interesting to watch how the piers were installed under the house, what was used, and how deep the piers went. I had never before seen how this repair work was done, and now I know! It's a very fascinating process...and to lift each part of the foundation to be repaired with a 20-ton jack, well, that's just amazing! That just blew me away! The doors close properly now, et cetera, I feel good that I did something good for my house, and I can breathe easy that my house foundation has been corrected! Thank you, Joe, George (supervisor), and each one of the guys on the crew for doing such a nice job on my home! It is very much appreciated!

Joe Winters was excellent. He not only evaluated the foundation but he also explained to me what he was looking for and how he measured. I went with him through the house and he explained his evaluation. He also advised me to get soaker hoses for the front and the back and to put them on timers. That will help the foundation by giving water to the tree roots that suck the water from under the foundation and cause it to move.
Description of Work: He evaluated the foundation of my house and found it to be in good condition with very minor movement.
