I founded my company on service and thoroughness.. I can handle a multiple of tasks and projects, decreasing your need for numerous, unfamiliar, individuals to invade your home for repairs, and increasing the process necessary to finish in a timely manner. I have numerous customer's trust. I have no problem with pets, I have 5 big rescue dogs I call the kids.
I attempt to do all the work myself, however on the big jobs, I do have employees assist in those projects. I have employees I trust and will not leave unsupervised for your piece of mind.. I do, on occasion, sub-contract if the job is extremely large so as to finish in a timely manner and obtain warranties. I give free estimates. I do charge a trip charge if the mileage is over 35 miles one-way on projects. I usually include all materials necessary to complete the project, and will price each job seperately. However, multiple tasks will warrant discounts as they increase.
Initially, Rick Howard was very responsive and he responded very quickly to my emails through Angie's List for the job I wanted to do. We scheduled a meeting, he looked at my room and I immediately became impressed with him, my perception of his ability to take on my project, and the quality product he would provide for me. In fact, he had a very good idea to mirror the elevated floor with my entry way into my media room. The work was completed with no snafus at that time. I was very impressed with what he had done and excited about the possibilities of what the room would offer me. At Rick's suggestion, I hired a painter to paint the room three different colors (gold, white, and black). The paint work initially appeared to be fine the first day of the job. However, after a couple of days, I noticed that the area painted black needed another coat of paint and the wall had numerous white looking stains in it. Puzzled, i contacted the painter and asked him to return to finish the job. The painter agreed but never showed up. I later learned that he had left town and disconnected his telephone. I contacted Rick, because he recommended the painter and told him that the painter had skipped town and left me hanging with a bad paint job. By the way, I paid the painter $465 to paint my room. Rick responded that he had heard from other customers who also had been left hanging by the painter. Rick told me via text, which I still have, that he fixed the painter's problems with his other customers and he would take care of my issue as well. Simultaneously, I noticed that the floor installed by Rick had begun to squeak pretty bad in two different areas. I brought that issue to Rick's attention about the squeaky floor on April 24, 2014. Rick responded that it was no big deal, an easy fix, and that he would come by soon to fix it. I told Rick I had a couple of weeks until the carpet was installed. We never agreed to a date but I felt comfortable with him so I didn't push the issue. Rick subsequently fell, sprained his ankle, and told me me would fix the floor and the paint issue after the carpet was installed. On May 8, I texted Rick to ask about when he would look at the paint and floor issue. He responded in a screaming manner on text saying he had and quot;paid through his nose with other customers the painter screwed and he was not guaranteeing anything furtherand quot;. I didn't respond and asked when he would fix my floor. He did not respond to my question. On May 14, 2014, at 4:19pm, I sent another text asking Rick when would he fix my floor. I advised him that my furniture was being delivered on May 17, 2014. As of 8:30am this morning, he still has not responded to my text as to when he will fix the squeaky floor. To recap, after sending Rick two texts in a week asking him when was he going to fix my floor, he has refused to respond. I'm taking his none response to mean he has NO PLANS to fix my floor. I am disappointed in how our relationship has deteriorated because I really thought I had found myself a handyman. I will not be using Rick's services going forward.
Description of Work: I modified my media room to install an elevated floor to give the room a movie theater look.
He lied to me, put a door with a window in when I specifically asked him not to, and cut off one of the prongs on my washer and shorted out the electricity in my wall. He used cursed words with me - we got into several heated arguments and it got to the point where I was scared of him. He took the pins out of the faucets in my kitchen and bathroom sinks, so the faucets fall off. He removed them as a joke. He took out a tree in my backyard, which fell into my neighbor's house (which is a renter). He told me he would clean up/fix up the back yard for $500. I asked if it included St. Augustine grass and taking out a tree - he said yes. After they'd put down the grass, Rick told me I owed him an additional $800. I paid him the last installment for the entire project in cash and he disappeared. He never returned any of my calls. Everybody stay away from this guy because if you pay him up front, he's GONE. He said he'd be back in 2 weeks but I never saw him again. If I had gotten receipts, I'd be suing him!
Description of Work: He redid a bathroom of mine, installed a new door, redid my roof, new flooring throughout the house, put in a lift in the middle of the house, a took out a tree.

This customer's house was so damaged, I am surprised she was still living there.. She had a water leak in the backyard that could not be fixed by the city or any other plumber,, It had been leaking for 3+ yrs. The roof was leaking so bad she had moved to only the rooms not leaking which was 50% of the house. There were animals living in the attic and made their presence known often due to the holes in the sheetrock in the ceiling. She had an abusive husband, and a boyfriend who was on drugs.. several days we are working and smell the aftermath of drugs being used while we are working.. She had a budget and I did my best to adhere to the budget and still make this house good enough to live in. She requested weird projects like a cat crawl in every room in the ceiling so her cats could go from room to room. she finally ran out of money and I decided was best for the house and still maintain said budget. I never lied to her. I simply had to decide what she needed with the funds that were left. I gave her a brand new kitchen with new appliances, new cabinets, restructured her flooring that was rotten and falling into the ground, I fixed the life long water leak and landscaped so she would have a backyard, I remodeled the master bath and replaced everything brand new, ( She had litter boxes in the tub and it could not be used due to the water leak and the tub and toilet were laying on the ground under the flooring.) So, after 3 months of work I finally got the house where you could live in it safely. New roof was necessary. I installed new flooring throughout the residence, sheet rocked everything and painted throughout. I was totally honest and fulfilled my obligations to her.. She admitted she was maniac depressed and on medications. Everyday was a new adventure with her.. When we met she begged me to help her as the other 4 contractors she had contacted would not help her, and now I know why. She is lucky to have me as her contractor and I made decisions in her best interest for the future safety of her in that residence. It should have been condemned

Rick's crew was prompt, very polite and courteous and made sure that we were happy with every stage of the work. They cleaned up every day before they left. They were very patient with us, walking around answering questions each day and assuring my husband that everything would be to our satisfaction before they left. We had experience with ANOTHER drywall crew several years ago that left trash in the house and the yard and left several small details unfinished that we were left to figure out a way to fix as we couldn't get them to come back to take care of them. Rick called several times to make sure things were going to our satisfaction. One morning the guys had a blowout on the way to our house. He called to let us know they were running late as a result. Rick's crew was fabulous and not only would I recommend them, we will use them again.
Description of Work: Rick came out to our home and gave us a bid on tape, bed, texturing our add on which was a little over 1400 sq. ft total. We also talked to him about bids on our ceramic and wood flooring, repairing broken ceramic tiles in the kitchen and finishing out our master bathroom. He gave us lots of input on ideas other than what we had thought of and was very helpful with suggestions. We will be contacting him in future when we get to those stages.
After we finally were able to decide on a plan the installation went very well. Our biggest obstacle was designing a new door and porch that would fit our current space as the door cut out was not a standard size. Other contractors initially agreed to replace the door but backed out when they realized the size was not standard. This was not a problem for Ric as he was able to have a custom door manufactured for us. Our current door frame had rotted due to the design of the entry way and Ric was able to also design a porch that will protect the new door we just installed from doing the same. Installation of the door took a day and the porch took about 3 days. Ric and one helper completed the job themselves (no subcontracting) and did a great job! Since Ric does all his own work and is very busy (a good sign for a contractor), it can be hard to get on his schedule but he is very conscientious and will get back to you.. Once we got the design down and scheduled the work, everything went very smooth.. We would definitely use him again if the need arose.
Description of Work: Replaced front door, frame and sidelights as well as installed a front porch.

He does good work, he's pleasant, he's nice to be around. He had to fire an employee so he told us that he couldn't finish the job until he hired someone. He also told me times that he would be here and he wasn't. I just got aggravated with him and we just dropped him. The work that he did I am happy with, but he wouldn't show up and he wouldn't return calls and he always had excuses as to why he couldn't get out to do the work.

This family did not know what they wanted. I went out there several times and either talked to her or him and never came to a conclusion on the many things they were asking about repairing. I finally realized I was wasting my time. So I gave up.
Very professional. Watched project closely and did some of the work. Was quite observant about work done by employees, and it was obvious that the provider expected the job to be done correctly with attention to details. Friendly crew and provider. Answered questions and discussed details of the job consistently. We were quite pleased with the job. Gave our house a wonderful new look!!
Description of Work: Repaired and/or replaced exterior trim; painted ext. trim. Repaired and/or replaced exterior doors; painted ext. doors inside and outside. Repaired sheetrock on ceiling in a bedroom. Replaced and painted interior trim around kitchen garden window. Replaced front storm door.

Richard responded promptly to my original email, he came out and looked at the jobs and had and promise a estimate by the next day. I did not hear from him so followed up with another email several days later and asked if I had misunderstood the time frame. I never heard from him at all. I the second email I did tell him that because of my recent experiences with several contractors my expectation with the jobs I had we're doing what was promised when it was promised and cleanup after the job. Maybe I offended him.

Based on Richard’s (AKA, Dun-Rite) Angie’s List ratings, and his relatively close proximity to my house (not 40 – 50 miles away like the other highly-rated contractors), I contacted Richard to give me a quote on some work that I needed done on my house. During the initial visit, I was very thorough in explaining to him what I wanted to be done. It should have been a red flag to me that, while talking with him, he made a few remarks that indicated to me that he wasn’t listening to me, or perhaps didn’t care about how I wanted the job done. Nevertheless, based on his Angie’s List ratings, I decided to move forward and get a quote from him. I asked him to be specific in his quote and to specify what was to be done, as well as the individual costs of materials and labor. His quote arrived almost a week after he said he would have it to me. Most of what I asked him to do was not on the quote, and what was on the quote was very general. The price was acceptable, but to make sure that he had included everything I wanted done, I wrote him back and reminded him that I had asked for a more specific quote. After a couple of days he replied and apologized for the lack of specifics, and gave me a quote that was more detailed. As before, the price was still good, but some of the details were still unclear, so I replied and asked for clarification on a few things. A few of the specifics he included in his next quote indicated to me that he had not listened to me about an important aspect of the job. To ensure that he had understood everything I wanted done, I wrote him back to remind him about the existing state of the house. A week went by and I didn’t hear back from him, so I sent him another e-mail to let him know that I was still interested in having him work on the house, and that the price he had quoted me was not a problem, but he never responded. I can try to put his intentional lack of response in the best possible light possible, and make excuses for him, but from the tone of his last e-mail to me, I sensed that he had an issue with being specific about all the details of the job, and that he was beginning to get annoyed with me for trying to ensure that we were both on the same page regarding the scope of the work and what it would cost. I am not one to waste my time with someone who chooses to be evasive, so I decided not to use him. Because I had already been through four other contractors who were vague, and wouldn’t do what they said they would do when they said they would do it, I joined Angie’s List specifically to find a reliable contractor. Based on Richard’s (AKA, Dun-Rite) ratings, I decided to give him a shot. However, I found that he was just as unreliable as all the other contractors, in spite of his high ratings. In fact, his performance was so opposite to his Angie’s List ratings, that I haven’t had any desire to use Angie’s List since then. I can get unreliable ratings from anyone on the street for free. The only reason I’ve logged in this time is because Angie’s List specifically solicited my evaluation of Richard (AKA, Dun-Rite). I’ll fulfill my contractual obligation to Angie’s List, but overall, I found it to be a waste of my time – yet another lesson learned in the “Find a contractor” game.

I guess all the other contractors thought the same why I did about his professionalism and he was unclear about what he wanted me to do and what he could do to save money. I finally gave up due to his,"I owe him attitude", and the lack of deciding what exactly he wanted me to bid on. He spent more and energy on this report than he did explaining what he wanted. I am sure the other contractors that declined him felt the same way. I am also sure he will have to do all the work himself.

Ii did use Dunrite Remodeling and Roofing to replace the roof of my home this month, but I don't think it is the same company as your listing. This one is local, and your Dun-Rite is in Indianapolis. I was very satisfied with the work contracted by Mr. Tim Radford, Office 817/615-8880, Cell 214/680=6915 of the firm Dunrite. His bid came in $1,400 less than the second bidder and the work was done well on time as agreed. I also had him replace gutters on the back which were not included in the insurance adjuster's report, but the front gutters were. Cleanup was well done and timely. Would recommend. Job total was $5,823.87. I do not have the business address of this company. Barbara Key

Ric came out promptly for the estimate of work to be performed. Very professional, his estimate was in line with what we expected- felt so confident about his presentation -we hired him on the spot. The job was a full renovation/gut of our master bath. Demolition was swift and very clean. The tile work in our shower and on the floors was top drawer. He came up with tile ideas in the shower that were very attractive and functional. Ric stayed in contact , since we ordered most of our own fixtures. There were time delays due to those delivery times-no fault of his. When the products came in, Ric was right on it for installation. He basically handled all aspects of the job: carpentry, plumbing, tile , electrical, painting...nice not to have all those extra contractors to deal with, scheduling etc. There were a few odds and ends that we hadn't gotten done in the past, he pitched right in and did all the 'honey-do' list my husband hadn't gotten to! Whew, glad to have those things done. We had some finish carpentry at the very end of the job. We had ordered a sliding track bathrom door to be installed, and it took longer than expected to be delivered. All of the bathroom remodel was done, and fantastic. I think by the time this was accomplished, we let the ball drop and didn't have full communication with Ric on the design of the sliding door installation. This was the weakest part of the job...but I take some of the responsibility for not being clear with the design we had in mind. This was the only thing that really doesn't match the quality of the rest of Rics work. All in all , Ric always stayed in touch, came to work when he said, we are thrilled with our new master bath! I would hire him again, absolutely.

Job went well. Ric worked with crew of 2-3 workers in an organized manner, despite my 4 dogs getting in the way and trying to attack the nail gun. Communicated problems and possible solutions before and during job. Adjusted bill without unreasonable charges when structural modifications were required. Began job on time and completed before schedule. Cleaned up debri and stacked leftover lumber prior to completion. Planning on using Ric for flooring job later this summer. We were very pleased with his work and would recommend him.

In both instances, Ric was able to explain what he thought would work best, draw it out, and then give a sensible estimate. As we went along in the project, he kept us apprised of the progress and sent us updated invoices reflecting payment and balances. All were correct, and timely. The decks were screened in - upstairs and downstairs - and illustrated his excellent carpentry skills and attention to detail. He was prompt, courteous, reliable and kept up with trash removal. This might seem trite, but it is far from it. Many contractors do a few things well but disappoint in other matters. Ric seems to do all of the parts of a job to a very high standard. Given our many, many other encounters with contractors here in DFW over the past 15 years, I would rate him in the top 5% without hesitation.
Description of Work: Outstanding quality work; Ric actually has now done TWO decks for us, and continues to pick up projects as we go along. The workmanship is always excellent. Pricing is fair, and overall value is very good. Ric is extremely reliable and has a penchant for doing things well.

Their service was great. I had a little problem with the shingles they were putting on because I thought they were of the wrong color when I saw in the light. They were very polite and patient with me because once the sun came straight up; it was exactly the color I wanted. They were wonderful. They were very good. They were very patient and they did their best to explain that shingles look different in different light. I had never looked at my roof carefully in the dark, when it's not quite light out. It was shaded and it wasn't that there wasn't quite light. It was the afternoon shade from the back of the house and I thought that they were putting up the wrong color shingles. They were very kind and then when the full light was there I could tell that it was exactly the right color. I was impressed that they didn't get impatient with me. Their responsiveness and punctuality was very good. I had no problems with that at all. They cleaned up very well. They did it real fast and didn't get anything in to our pool either which was great. I would definitely use them again in the future. I was very well pleased with their work.

He did a really good job. He fixed something in my bathroom nobody else could fix. I was very pleased with what he did, and thought he was very knowledgable and professional.
Description of Work: He did some handyman work around my house. This includes some plumbing, windows, and a few other things.
He was very patient and listened to what I needed. He was very thorough and explained everything in detail. He was able to make some very good recomendations and how to cut costs. We are in the middle of other projects and have put this on hold, but we do plan on calling him back for further information.
Description of Work: They came out to give us an estimate on general remodeling, installing exterior doors, changing facia boards, ceiling work, and flooring installation.

appliance repair

I originally call Dun-Rite Construction to repair my refrigerator and my washing machine. Ric, the owner of Dun-Rite, came out one day and checked out both the refrigerator and the washing machine. He wrote down the model #s and gave me a quote to fix the appliances before he purchased the parts to fix both appliances. I approved the quote, he acquired the necessary parts needed to fix the appliances and came back the next day with the parts. He repaired the refrigerator and it works marvelously. The washing machine needed more work than what he originally quoted me and we both decided that it would be too expensive to fix the washing machine. He did not charge me anything for the washing machine work or parts purchased for the washing machine. He was honest, and straight forward. He could have charged me for the work he performed on the washer to ascertain the problem but did not. He offered to dispose of the washing machine and I accepted his offer. Ric is very fair and reasonable. I am pleased with the overall transaction.
Description of Work: Labor and materials to install new Evap. Fan motor in freezer compartment of refrigerator. Ascertained problems with washing machine at no cost to me.
