Will's Plumbing & Testing Service

The service technician (Richard) was friendly and performed the work in a timely and professional manner. I made the appointment with Sam over the phone and she was very friendly and accommodating - EXCELLENT customer service skills. She was also very nice when she called 30 minutes prior to my appt to let me know Richard was on his way. The reason for my less-than-perfect rating is the attitude of the older woman in the office with whom I spoke on the day of the appointment. We have had many contractors do various jobs in and around our home and several businesses did not want payment to be given to the technicians on the work site. They preferred payment be mailed in to the business. Prior to the job I called to inquire how Will's Plumbing preferred to be paid -- job site or mailed. The woman rudely told me "we don't accept payments." When I explained why I was asking she snipped "we trust our technicians." I did not say I wanted to make "payments" - we always pay for contracting services in full - nor did I imply she didn't trust her workers. I simply wanted to know how they prefer me to pay for the services once rendered. Customer service is very important to me and the first contact you have on the phone sets the tone for how the business is viewed. She didn't even give her name when she answered the call....just the business name. I will most likely do business with Will's Plumbing in the future; however I do feel this lady needs to improve her customer service skills or not be placed on telephone duty. I still gave Professionalism above an A rating because the other 2 employees I had contact with we're exceptional and I didn't think it was fair to rate this lower due to the actions of one individual. On the subject of price, I feel $288 for a 1-hour install of a product I pre purchased is a bit steep. They did give a 10% discount for being an Angie's List member but the install is still overpriced.

Not happy with the price or the quality of service.

I'll start with the negative factors, and then the positive. Negatives: Punctuality: Initially, I was scheduled for Wednesday 1/29. The technician had an emergency, and the office called me to re-schedule. We re-scheduled for Monday 2/3 at 3:00pm. The technicians arrived at my house at 4:50pm. Price: The quote was for $2,205.00. I called the office, and asked if they honored the 10% coupon from Angie's list. The lady said yes, and that I would just need to show the coupon at the time of payment. When the technician finished, and gave me the final bill, he said that the 10% discount was already included in the estimate. The second item that added to the negative price score was the cost of the Water heater. On the bill, the price is $1,161. The model that was installed was a A.O. Smith ECT-52. The list price for the water heater on many vendor websites is between $410.00 and $516.00. Positives: Responsiveness: The 2 technicians were very friendly, and when I received calls from the office, they were friendly was well. Professionalism: They came in and did a good job. They stayed late, and worked outside installing the pressure valve on the main line. It was cold outside (low 40's), and they finished the job on the same day. Quality: No issues with the water heater in the 2 days that we have using it. The only factor that lowered their score from an A to B was that there was some minor damage in the staircase when they removed the old water heater. A dolly was used, and on each step they scratched the lip on the hardwood floor. A couple of steps are now chipped, and it is noticeable. Hopefully, other people can use the positives and negatives, and make an informed decision. Thank You.

My tenant informed me on the evening of Friday, 31 Jan that the hot water in the master bath tub was on and could not be turned off. Without being to see exactly what was going on; I suggested she turn the water off until I could get someone out there to look at it. I had originally contacted Roto-Rooter and they failed at getting someone out there (I wrote a separate review in regards to my experience with them). Fast forward to today (Sat, 1 Feb) and I called Will's Plumbing at 11:41 and placed the initial service call. At 12:50 I received a call back letting me know that a technician was on in-route. I live in Schertz so I knew the drive would be about 45 mins to an hour. My tenant text my at 1:48 to let me know the technical had arrived; right on time. At 2:54 Ernest had called me and gave me a breakdown of exactly what was wrong. My knowledge of plumbing is not too vast, so I asked a lot of questions but Ernest was patient and professional in explaining everything to me. At 4:14 my tenant text me to let me know he had just finished up and she was very pleased with the results! From the time I first contacted Will's plumbing until the job was finished took only 4.5 hours!! This is incredible compared to the 19 hours it took Roto-Rooter to even call me and say a technician was FINALLY on its way. In no way do I have any affiliation with either one of these companies. I am just an active duty military home owner living out of state that expects a honest, reliable, prompt, professional service and that is exactly what Will's plumbing provided me!

Called - they came out to tell us ignitor bad - sealant needed to have water heater placed.

Everything went well and work was done within an hour. Earnest is a true professional & Sam at the office is a joy to speak to.

The clogs occurred on a Sunday. The technician arrive a little after the estimated time, but was friendly, efficient and professional.

Anthony was very professional and finished the work on time at the price quoted.

Break was located under curb, so they contacted the city to see if it was covered under my easement. We're just waiting to hear back.

Took four days from start to finish due to septic needing cleaning out and weather problems and scheduling.

We agreed upon a fix and it was completed within an hour. Everything was left clean and neat after having to dig a hole about 3 ft. by 3 ft. Nice job. This is the 4th time they provided a service to us.

The team came out and confirmed what the first plumber had said about a slab leak. They cut multiple holes in sheet rock, then said I needed to re-route all of our plumbing through the ceiling versus overhead. The first verbal quote was anywhere from $10,000 to $12,000. I asked them to go back and talk to office coordinator that confirms quotes and sets up appointments. I was supposed to hear from them the next day. A couple of days go by, and nothing. I finally call, and talk to the coordinator. He is very nice, apologizes, and says crew will be back out. Meanwhile, another leak had sprung and I now have major water damage in subfloor and sheetrock. The team shows up, confirms definite issue, does more measuring, and is going to get back to me with final estimate. Again, someone was to call next day. A few days go by, and NOTHING. I call again, and this time talk to office manager. She is very nice, offers a discount and says now the entire job would be around $6600. I'm fine with estimate, and tell her to call me when they've worked out schedule, etc, for such a large job. Three more days go by...I hear NOTHING, and I give up. And, I ended up going through FOUR more plumbers until I found the right team for the job. Every single one quoted much higher, which was actually okay, because it was a fair price. I knew the discounted rate was too good to be true. Meanwhile, I had more and more water damage, and I'm now having to deal with contractors and insurance.

I'm writing this review primarily to let Austin residents know about my recent experience with Will's Plumbing, since they advertise a local Austin number and show Austin in their serviceable area on Angies List. While they were, in fact, willing to come to Austin, the dispatcher advised us that they charge a $100 / hr. travel fee to come to Austin, since there operations are based entirely in San Antonio. I can't comment as to the quality of Will's work, since I did not authorize the travel fee - but I do feel it is important to point out that, although Will's may come up in your search as a local provider, you should be prepared to be assessed a travel fee.

Ernest was precise and efficient. The job required cutting into cabinet & sheet rock; the cuts were surgical. The repairs were effective. And the work area was tidy & ready to use before he left. Wonderful job!

The plumber was on time, courteous and professional. He fully answered all our questions and performed the work in a timely manner in cold rainy temperatures outside in garage.

There was a $40 service fee for the visit. I provided the filter and system. Lucky to have them come out due to the pipes were cpvc and needed a PVC coupler to work. Quick and mess free work.

I called them and told them my situation. I wanted the old drain from my tub to be removed and I have a new drain for its place. They were nice with the courtesy calls about on their way, but they said they would be at my place in 10 minutes. It ended up being 30 minutes. When they got there, I showed them the quick job I needed. They said they wanted over 200.00 dollars to literally twist out an old tub drain off. This is crazy. I understand plumbers usually cost quite, but this is just a rip off. I would hate to see the cost of their other services. I would not recommend, unless you want to be broke.

Since it was the weekend , I was concerned about having someone being able to do the work. Will's Plumbing came out within 24hrs.

He was quick, informative, and left everything sparkling clean. I'd use this company again without a second thought! They were great!!

James did an excellent job. I would rehired him for another job.

On a Friday evening the water line in our house broke. Richard came very quickly and fixed the leak.
