Water heater installed and appears to be working fine. Technician very pleasant. Called the company to have technician come back to finish the job. Watch out for additional line items added to your bill and for very large mark up on items.I caution all potential customers to get an in writing quote in advance and compare with another company.

I wanted to take a few minutes to dive into a quote that I received from Will’s plumbing and the fact that I believe they attempted to convince me that I needed repairs that were not actually needed. The wife and I are in the process of buying a home and as such, I had an inspector come out to inspect the home. I tend to be on the cautious side so I also had a certified electrician come out to check the electrical work and I also had Will’s come out to check more in depth on the plumbing. While the inspector is capable of doing this, I wanted specialized people to check various parts of the home while I was still in my “option” period so I could back out of the purchase if needed. When I made contact with Will’s plumbing and inquired on the job I wanted done, I basically stated that I would like for them to do an overview of the plumbing, quote out an install of an expansion tank system on the water heater and for them to possibly check some of the pipes with cameras etc. While on the phone with them, it seemed like it would be a pretty easy processes and we should have no issues. The only concern I had was that they would have to be on site right at or near 2PM as the inspector would be arriving around that time and I would have about a 1.5 to 2 hour window. Not only did I stress the 2PM time frame multiple times, I also called the day of just to remind them. At 2:29PM I was called by the receptionist and they stated the techs were running behind and would be about another 20-30 minutes. I inquired with my inspector who stated he planned to still be on site for another 45 min to an hour. I gave that information to the rep and we agreed to still have them out. Unfortunately, it was closer to the 30-40 minutes before the techs arrived but, as long as the techs began to work immediately, I do not believe the time would have been an issue. When the techs arrived, they did not seem to have a really great idea of why they were there (I had given the receptionist in the days prior a lot of information on what I was looking to do) and when I explained perhaps to have the cameras down the pipes to check for anything or doing an inspection on the home, they told me that just putting camera’s down a drain was a lot more intensive then I was lead to believe by the receptionist and not something they could just do. They were also unsure of how to proceed so they had to go back to their van and make some phone calls and try to figure out the best course of action to move forward. By this point, the electrician had already finished up and the inspector was writing his report and would not be on site much longer. So I went back out to the van and told them that we were running low on time and instead they suggested that they would simply write up a quote to perform work later. It defeats the point of knowing the problems before my option period was over but there was little I could do about it. They did however state they needed to check my water pressure as it’s required on the stop. I went back inside and got the scoop from the inspector. After finishing up with them, the team with Will’s was ready to chat with me. According to them, my water pressure was at 100PSI and I needed to immediately have my pressure regulator valve replaced or it was going to cause damage to my pipes, appliances etc. in the home. Now, if you remember correctly, one of the jobs I inquired about originally and was quoted for was the installation of an expansion tank on my water heater. See, these homes are on a closed loop system because they have a pressure regulator valve. On systems without an expansion tank the pressure builds up dramatically in the home when say the water heater is on. My inspector had checked the pressure at the beginning of his inspection and noted it at 65PSI. The inspector also had been running all the hot faucets, dishwasher and other appliances to ensure they were working. So at the time when Will’s plumbing came in, the water heater was on full heating mode thus creating vast amount of pressure. As they were trying to explain to me why they needed to replace the pressure valve, I simply went into the garage and ensured the heater was on and it was. I did not tell them I am familiar with the metrics of water pressure in a home. I am not sure how licensed plumbers would not know this or if it was an attempt to warrant additional repairs. Here is some info regarding this. “The installation of a PRV without a thermal expansion tank will have adverse effects if you produce hot water in the home. When you install a PRV, the water pressure steps the water pressure down on the homeowners side but does not allow water to flow backwards offsetting thermal expansion. In the event there is no thermal expansion tank on a water system that is protected by a PRV and produces hot water, the water pressure will spike to a point higher than before there was a PRV.” The plumbers also knew I already wanted to install a thermal expansion tank and that also would have ensured this issue was resolved. The cost of replacing the Pressure regulator was quoted at $514.64. If I was not an informed consumer this would have easily been a charge that another home owner might agree to because who would want their appliances to be destroyed prematurely? Now, in regards to the actual inspection I wanted the team to perform, basically there were not able to complete any of what I had discussed on the phone with their receptionist. The work would have taken much longer to perform and in all honestly, the prices I was being told were much higher than I thought would be adequate for a few camera dips and to flush some toilets/look in sinks etc. Plus the fact that they were not able to come at the requested time really hampered the operation. Either way, I did pay the 39.95 fee for them to come out and basically test my water pressure incorrectly. As far as pricing goes, a few years ago I paid $343.46 to install an expansion tank from the same company, and now the quoted price is $404.25. So the price has gone up slightly. In terms of the other quoted work a “Visual plumbing inspection” was set at $195. I know it’s different companies and specialized fields, but Hill Electric came out and did a full breaker panel inspection, checked every plug with a tool and inspected the add on patio thoroughly for $89.99. They did a lot of hands on work for that price so maybe in the plumbing world $195 is not very expensive but for just a visual check it does seem high. I know this review is long but I wanted to be as thorough as possible. In terms of the company being on site right at 2PM, I realize that this is a difficult request with a company that normally has windows to come out. I made sure, very sure, to the receptionist that if they could not give me a tech exactly or very near to 2PM, that I would happily call another company out that would be able to maintain that appointment. I was assured both on the initial conversation and when I called to remind them the day of that 2PM was not an issue. Also, while I don’t want to imagine it, it does seem that Will’s plumbing did try to sneak in some repairs that would not be needed. As I stated before, both the expansion tank that I want and the fact the water heater was on both would be valid reasons as to why my pressure was so high. This is on top of the fact that only an hour or so before hand, a certified inspector had much different results with the same pressure test.
Description of Work: Inspection of plumbing on a home that I might possibly purchase. Quote out the price of installing an Expansion Tank on a water heater.

Response from Will's Plumbing & Testing Service
Unfortunately, I do agree that this situation could have been handled much better. The technician (plumber) who performed this particular service is no longer employed here, due to his inability to concentrate on customer's needs (not every plumber who goes to work here has what it takes to stay). As for being "late", based on the information as stated by the homeowner, we should have been able to perform the "estimate" in the time allowed. His comment on "just putting a camera down the drain", I would have to be on the property to make that assessment. What I do know of the "plumber" who was on that job, it's a toss-up as to whether he was trying to get one over on the customer or just stupid..........I'm gonna go with "just stoopid". (taking undo advantage of my customers is not a viable "business plan". I believe in being honest and upfront with people in ALL matters, both business and personal) I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused this customer, and in the event he calls us back, we will do a much better job of taking care of his needs. I moved into a new home and the movers were finishing late on Saturday evening. We were moving the washer into the laundry room and connecting it when the laundry water shut off valve broke. The city water meter to shut off the water was seized so the laundry room was flooding with water. Will's Plumbing responded right away and sent a repairman out who arrived in less then the expected time. He quickly shut off the water and then fixed the broken valves and was very thorough. I was so grateful because I had called another service before them and did not get a helpful response. Will's Plumbing helped salvage a stressful first night in my new home.

The guy from SAWS is walking around reading the meter and he says, "Hey, you've got a leak." I say, "Oh yeah, where?" He says, "Right here." It was right past the meter. SAWS is not responsible for it. I go there, I looked at it, I thought, "I can fix this." I go to Lowe's and I go to Home Depot, they don't have the part. I ended up having to call Will's because we've used them numerous times. They came out. I had already took the piece off. All he had to do was put the new piece on. He told me how much it was going to cost and I say, "What?" The price was ungodly, it was like $300 or something. I was like, "You didn't do anything, it took you 5 minutes to put that piece in." So he called his supervisor. They got it down to $180. I guess, I can't complain too much. Overall they do a great job, I just don't like their pricing. They do good work, they're reliable, they're local.

It went great. I had Will's Plumbing come out to give me a 2nd quote because the previous plumbing company's quote to fix the problem was outrageous. Danny, with Will's Plumbing, came out, gave me a price which was lower than the previous quote, so I agreed to have him do the work. He explained what he was going to do, and went above and beyond, by making sure it drained correctly, even after the new pipes were already installed. He even rerouted the pipes underneath the sink for easier access. He also cleaned out the drain, and made sure the "sound" of the running water draining was the sound he wanted to hear. Danny is an excellent employee, who knows the value of doing "it right" the first time. He takes pride in his work and is a dedicated worker.
Description of Work: I needed to repair a leak underneath my kitchen sink. The leak was coming from where the sink drain connects to the main drain, behind the back of the cabinet. My home is 90 years old and had the cast iron pipes.

We had a kitchen drain that was completely clogged. We used another plumbing company which was unable to cable (snake) it out and said they would need to hydro-jet it for about $750. I then called Will's Plumbing & Testing Service who said they could hydro-jet the clog for under $500. It took two men three hours to get the job done. They couldn't get the hydro-jet past the solidified grease after several uses of the cable with various cutting heads. So they put the cable in all the way to the cleanout at the septic tank, attached the hydro-jet, and then pulled it through the clog so they could jet it out. Thanks to their hard work and ingenuity, we can use the kitchen sink and dishwasher again! True to their word, it was just under $500, including tax. Fantastic job.

It went GREAT! The guys were very nice. Turned out we had a problem getting our key into it's spot to start the gas. After looking into it, they spotted an obstruction in the keyhole. They jerry-rigged a metal skewer I had and fished out the obstruction. If we couldn't get it done that way, then we'd have to go in to back from outside the house and that could have cost $200-$300. Since they were nice enough to help me fix the problem, that wasn't needed and the cost was only for the service, $40! I'm a VERY happy customer and would DEFINITELY use this company again!
