Flood, water & smoke damage. Insurance claims. Smaller Handyman type services. Single trade work such as only paint or only tile work. No repair or maintenance work such as windows or doors or leaky showers etc.
From the beginning Brad was absolute professional. He provided us with an itemized detail of what he would provide and the cost of materials and labor. We had to abide by our HOA regulations and Brad worked with us to provide floor plans, drawing of the elevation, and specifics for our HOA committee. He also obtained all permits and arranged for the inspections. Work began on time and everything was perfectly timed. From foundation to roof the work was of exceptional quality. The crew was very careful not to disturb the landscape any more than absolutely necessary and they cleaned the work site every evening before departing. Everyone was respectful of our home and our time. No corners were cut and Brad personally made sure that everything was completed to perfection. In fact, he had the painting done three times before he was satisfied, we were satisfied after the first time! In summary, we were completely satisfied with the work. It surpassed our expectations. Brad and his entire office and crew were a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely call them again for future needs.
Description of Work: Built a freestanding workshop, 12 x 20 ft, with extensive wiring.

Westphall Remodeling designed & remodeled our master bathroom. The results exceeded our expectations, and it's such a pleasure using our beautiful new space! Brad is knowledgeable, very responsive, communicates daily and effectively, and fulfilled all commitments. He listens well and offered great design suggestions that significantly improved on our ideas. Brad knows the capabilities of each of his crews--they were skilled, polite, and cleaned up at the end of each day so we could continue to use our nearby living spaces. Brad's estimates were exactly on-target. He finished the work on the EXACT day he'd promised! Best of all, Brad proved to us that we can trust him; he's a man of his word. We'll definitely work with Brad on our next remodeling project!

Wow! Thanks for the great review. You and your family were a pleasure to work with and get to know. Everything came together on your project and we felt the smaller bathroom area was significantly improved with the new walk in shower area. Your final selection on the tile and accents really made it pop! We look forward to working with you again in the near future on your upcoming outdoor project.

Brad was easy to work with from the beginning. My wife and I bought the Texas home while still living in California. We had to fly in to town to close on the house and will just a little notice Brad was able to meet us on the one day were available to do a complete walkthrough of the house and the areas we felt we wanted changed. Brad introduced himself, provided some background and got right to work. His enthusiasm and growing excitement about working on our project and making it something special is what sold us on going with Brad over our other potential candidates. He quickly developed rough drawings and an initial proposal. He was more than happy to work with us on plan changes as well as budget concerns to the point of explaining what items are good to save on and which once we shouldn't skimp on. Once final blue prints were approved by all, we got a final proposal and a start date and this all occurred within about 10 days of our first meeting. He works fast which is the way I like it as I am the same way. I moved to the new house six weeks ahead of my wife so I was there for demo day one. I was amazed at their speed and efficiency as well as their desire to keep the area clean at the end of each day. The demo of course created quite a bit of dust and Brad was consistently concerned about my comfort and the overall cleanliness of the house, but I convinced him that there was no point....Construction means dust and I could live with it to get this beautiful renovation done. As it is with any project of this scale we immediately had challenges arise with support beams and structural walls, plumbing and electrical not place originally by code. Many of these items could have been very expensive but Brad explained them all to me, explained what he was going to do to solve the challenges and made the challenges as painless to me and my wallet as possible so that we could remain within our overall budget. Being quite the DIY type myself I jumped in where ever I could to put my good labor skills to work and Brad was always willing to allow it so as to save me money which is very rare these days with General Contractors. Brad's original estimates for time were made even with all of the unforeseen challenges and our original budget was met within a couple thousand dollars which truly was amazing considering all that had to be done. His crews were all very nice, pleasant, very communicative and professional. I enjoyed them all and had some very nice conversations with many of them. Brad Works fast and tirelessly and always answers his phone or returned any call I made promptly. If ever I had a concern he was quick to listen, and if need be resolve the concern via explanation, education, or correction. That too is a hard commodity to find in the GC world of today. Brad is actually a profectionist in the nicest sense. I honestly can't say enough about Brad and his crews and the work they performed. The place looks outstanding and in the words of my wife "This...is what I have always wanted, I love my home" says it all. After hanging with Brad for 8 weeks during our complete Demo and rebuild I can honestly say I will seek out his advice first on any future construction work whether he does the work or not and will refer him to everyone I know looking for a renovation or building project to undertake. The best parts of this experience were first and foremost a very beautiful and professionaly done Renovation, a completely satisfied WIFE, and I feel I made a friend in Brad. He and his wife really are good people. We couldn't have recieved a better Texas Welcome!
Description of Work: Brad Westphal helped design and construct a complete remodel of our Master Bedroom, bath and closet as well as a laundry room. The rooms went from tiny to grand and from old and drab to new, exciting and gorgeous all while staying within the style and feel of the rest of the home.

Really!! What an awesome awesome review!! It is the ultimate reward for us when an owner posts such a lengthy and complimentary review. You had some great design ideas to contribute and it was obvious this wasn't the first project you had been involved in which made our job run even more smoothly. We are always so happy to see new families like yours coming from out of state who are anxious to make Texas their new home. I'm sure San Antonio will be everything and more that you hope it will be. Thanks again and talk with you soon!

The work was done ahead of schedule and within cost. Plans were developed and work permits procured in an expeditious manner. Work progressed rapidly with minimal disruption to the areas of the house not undergoing renovation. Brad Westphall, the company owner was personally involved in the day-to-day construction. This made incorporating modifications and adjusting to unanticipated issues and surprised found in any 1960's house as floors, walls, and ceiling were opened to the renovation. Necessary adjustments were quickly incorporated as Brad was always available to discuss such instances within one-day or less. His presence also insured that there were no delays in the overall work. Materials and appropriate workers were always on-hand when the work was to be done, even in this case when the project progressed ahead of schedule. The rapid progress did not sacrifice quality control. Brad invariably insured that work was done to standard and as well as if my house were his own. Seldom did I note anything that he had not already taken action on. He always apprised me of the progress throughout and took the time to conduct joint inspections with me through project completion. Westphall Remodeling was the fourth contractor I had considered to do the work. My decision to hire Westphall was essentially made on the first day we discussed the project; he was straight forward and exceptionally responsive in his proposals and response to questions. I intend to hire Westphall when I renovate the other portion of this house.
Description of Work: Westphall Remodeling renovated the kitchen, den, and rear entry way to the house. Additionally they enclosed the first floor patio and added a second floor guestroom and bathroom over the patio and constructed the stairway leading up to the second floor, as well as adding the air conditioning system and electrical and lighting system for this area.

Thanks. Each job we do is another opportunity to build a lasting and long-term relationship with another family and client. We really enjoyed doing this project for you and really appreciate that we were able to earn your trust in the beginning and then follow through with the vision you had entrusted with. The original design challenge was right up our alley and we were so glad to have had a part from start to finish and to have completed it to your total satisfaction. Although we were very happy with the results of the project, our ultimate satisfaction was in your detailed referral. Thanks again!

The work went very well. I am really pleased with the results. The job was performed on budget, work was done timely and is high quality. Brad Westphall was excellent to work with and I particularly liked the way he kept me informed about the status of various subcontractors who performed some of the work. I always was informed about the schedule of who to expect at my home, the time they would arrive and what they would be doing. Brad personally came on a daily basis to make sure the work was meeting my expectations and was on schedule. I never felt as though I had to initiate communication about status. And the work crew was good about cleaning up the work area each day before they departed. I highly recommend Westphall Remodeling and would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: I used Westphall Remodeling to convert an attached garage into a den and separate mud room entry and also to enclose a separate entry to use as a wine storage closet. Work included removing garage doors and replacing with windows, relocating the people access door, poring new concrete over the existing slab, polishing and staining the new concrete and installing a refrigeration unit in the new wine storage space and applying stucco to new exterior wall sections to match existing stucco.

Business owner, Brad Westphall, was one of two contractors that responded to our RFQ and the only one of four that provided a complete and accurate quote for the work we requested. All four contractors that were sent RFQs were Angie's List top rated. Two did not bother to acknowledge our request for quote. Brad has very good people working for him and his group of contractors was excellent. He oversaw the entire project and brought several contractors back to clear up minor issues. The was a big job and was done expeditiously and with the minimum of rework required. Westphall Remodeling was easy to work with and even did several repair jobs around the house that were out of the scope of the original contract which was a big plus for us. They even found a bathroom vanity that was on sale that was under the contract price and credited the saving back to us. Everything was out in the open and aboveboard. Workmanship was excellent and all of the craftsmen were very polite and treated our home with respect. Other than work like this is always dusty and intrusive there were no "surprises" that caused any concerns. The major problem that we encountered was the complaining of our cats that had to be cooped up while the daily activity was underway. They now enjoy climbing the stairs and exploring so all is forgiven. Very good company, honest, responsive and trustworthy.
Description of Work: Built 400+ sq. ft. second floor room with full bath and stairs to access room. Removed two doors and rebuilt wall to accommodate the stairs required to access that second floor.

During my first contact with Westphall Remodeling, Iris Westphall was knowledgeable, understood my estimation of the scope of work, and was extremely helpful. She set an appointment for Brad Westphall to meet with me and discuss the project. Brad was very punctual and, after talking with him, I had a very high level of confidence he would complete the work correctly. A written proposal arrived by e-mail less than 24 hours later. I accepted the proposal and a date was set to commence work the following week. Brad's workers were very punctual and professional. Like Brad, they knew what they were doing and gave me additional confidence the job would be done correctly. Any mess resulting from the work was cleaned up each day before the workers departed. One thing I really liked, Brad stopped by each day to ensure the work was being performed the way he wanted and to see if I had any questions. Another thing I liked, once the job commenced, his workers were back every day until the job was completed. Most important to me and my wife, when Brad completed the job, everything he did matches the existing house perfectly. And, payment was not expected until the work was finished. We will not hesitate to use Westphall Remodeling for our next project!
Description of Work: This was a "redo" of shoddy work previously completed by a different provider. It entailed demolition, installation of flashing, waterproofing, and stucco installation (approximate cost of service was less than $20K).

We contacted Westphall remodeling about building an outdoor living area on to the back of our house. Brad Westphall came out that same day to talk about what we wanted, and to take measurements. Within 2 weeks we had an estimate and a professional drawing. Our main goal was to have it look like it was always a part of the house, not an add-on. We were told it would take approximately 5 weeks to complete. The living area was completed within 5-6 weeks and blew us away. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The attention to detail is amazing. Brad and all of his work crews were always prompt, professional, and went out of there way to please. The workers always cleaned up the mess before they would leave each day. Brad came to check the work progress almost every day and on some days did some of the work as well. We will definitely use Westpall remodeling again in the future.

e declined the job. Poor communication. If their office staff is this incompetent, how would their work be better.
Description of Work: I called to have flood damage done by Westphall remodeling. The lady was on another call and let me get 45 seconds into what I needed. She took my number and said she would call me back. I had only told her40% of the work that needed to be done but she assumed she heard all the story so thinking I had told her everything she call the CEO. I believe hearing the limited story h [38,000] removed from approximate cost field as no work was performed.

Sir, Westphall Remodeling has built a very solid reputation for the highest standards of work and exceptional customer service over the past 28 years that we have been in business. Please take time to read all of our reviews written by our customers on Angie’s list as well as our many hand written testimonials on our website. We continue to do our very best every day to maintain this reputation. We understand your frustration in finding the right contractor to help you with your project and definately would have been happy to help you if this had been the type of work we specialize in. Although our office only spoke with you very briefly over the phone, I am very confident that they were as courteous, professional and helpful during your particular call as they are with all of our customers. Our company is required by Angie’s list to fill out a 'description of services' that we specialize in. This description is posted on the front of our Angie’s list page so that potential Angie’s list customers can review and make sure that we specialize in the type of service that they are looking for. In your particular case, you were looking for someone to repair water or flood damage. Unfortunately, we do not specialize in water, flood or smoke damage repair as listed. However, we hope the referrals we were able to pass on to you were helpful.

The experience overall was positive. They honored the appointment. They showed up on time. They were professional. They delivered back the code when they said they would. However, when the code came back, it was not professionally done. There were some missing items. I think, I will work with them. I was not comfortable with the code that they ended up. It was not because of the price but because of the level of the detail. I have a very large project and I don't feel that they captured the details in the code. They would have come and do the work just fine but the code was a little vague. They did not follow up with me to try and get my business. We sent them back the items that they missed and let them send a new code. I don't think they sent a new code. They have not called and ask if they can be of service. They have not ask any questions and follow up. The code was reasonable.

Sir, We thank you for the opportunity to bid your project. It looked like you may be calling us to move forward on your project! We do appreciate that and we are sure that you will be very happy with the final project results as well as the entire process. Whatever it may have been that you thought may have needed more detail we would be more than happy to outline that in an additional estimate. Believe it or not, we have never been told that any of our written estimates lacked length or detail. Although we took pictures of each area of improvement and detailed each of those areas in a total 3 page estimate, it sounded like there may have been something else you may have had in mind. Would be happy to discuss this further. Just let us know. Thanks again.

Great company! Mr. Westphall was able to help us with creating the wider doorway access we needed in our home as well as the remodel of our bathroom and living area. Westphall remodeling was 1 of 3 contractors to give us an estimate for our remodel project. Mr. Westphall was very professional, knowledgeable and well organized. He took the time to listen to what we needed as we described the areas in the house that we had to have widened for good access and was able to offer one or two other unique alternatives that were a little less expensive. After going through all of the colors and material selections we were so happy with the way everything came together and the final results. We were pleasantly surprised that the entire job only took about 3 1/2 weeks to complete. Brad and his crew were very careful to protect all of the furnishings and surrounding areas and left the jobsite clean each day. We had been needing to remodel our bathroom for years and finally glad we did. What a difference.
Description of Work: Remodel of our main hallway bath area which included a new vanity cabiniet, granite counterop & fixtures, new tile flooring, new bathtub and tile with sliding glass doors, and new drywall and paint.

NEVER GOT STARTED. WE DECIDED ON ANOTHER REMODELER.
Description of Work: Met with Brad Westphall on morning of 2/8/2013 , at least I believe it was Westphall since he never introduced himself and the first words were "do you own this home"? I responded yes and we closed on it two months prior. He did not seem to believe me. As I described the work we needed he kept emphasizing over and over that his company does not take on remodeling work when it is not occupied by homeowner. I told him we could not stay in home that would be going to major remodel, he insisted that Angies List states that he does not work on non occupied homes, and it does state that in smaller print down at the bottom. He never mentioned this in my phone conversation with him , otherwise I would not have wasted my time meeting him there. He also stated that he would not bid against others , because after 25 years in business he did not have to do that. Mr. Westphall was rude and abrupt. He appeared to want to get out to take care of other business. If first impressions mean anything, we would not use Westphall. I am sure this review will not impact his business in a negative light, but just because Mr. Westphall does not need our business, does not give him a right to be rude and patronizing! We expect more from a contracting professional.

Thank you so much for your interest in Westphall Remodeling. Although we do not bid on tenant occupied homes, we sincerely hope you are able to find a contractor who will meet and exceed your needs on this project. We have tried to be as clear as possible in describing the type of work we specialize in as well as the ones we don’t in the areas designated for that on our Angie’s list page. After realizing that you were a Realtor and that there were tenants living in the property, we truly did try to be as professional as possible in asking if you had noticed the “services we do not provide” section on Angie’s list. We are very sorry if you were upset by this and want to point out to any other Angie’s list members reading this that at no time did we ever intend to come across as rude or abrupt. We have always placed a very high value on all of our estimates as well as our customers. We are quite used to, and have never taken issue with, the normal process of bidding against other companies in our industry and are not sure how this might have come up since we had only explained that we wouldn’t be able to bid the job with tenants living in the house. We actually do encourage our clients to talk with other companies so they can get a good understanding of the service and level of quality that our company can offer them versus our competition. If you can take a few moments to review nearly all of our customer reviews over the past 3 years on Angie’s list as well as our company website, we hope this may help to better define our company character and our level of commitment to our customers over the past 26 years. As we did mention a couple of times during our very brief visit with this member, we are very sorry for any misunderstanding. As usual with any potential or long-term customers, we are always available for any construction related questions you may have during your project or during the bidding process. It should be noted that this is the 3rd project Brad has completed for us and with good reason; he exceeded our expectations then and we were confident he would exceed them again. We did request bids from 4 other highly rated Angie's List contractors and I'm sure they would have done a fine job but Brad's bid was in line with and in some cases, lower than the others, so in the end, it wasn't a difficult decision. Over the years we've learned that any project turns out only as good as it is managed. Brad was involved on a daily basis, ensuring the quality was the highest. This also helped us stay on schedule and on budget. Brad and his crew are professional and conscientious. They understand that families have to live through the construction and they took steps to minimize the impact on our daily lives. They cleaned the job sight daily and made sure it was safe for kids and pets. In the end, we are absolutely thrilled with the results-it's exactly as we drew it up and it's exactly how we envisioned it would be. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Brad over the past 4 years and I have recommended Brad to my closest of friends as I know he will do a great job for them as well. Check out his website, read his testimonials and call for an estimate-you can't go wrong. D. Beck
Description of Work: Brad Westphall of Westphall Remodeling just completed an extensive outdoor living space, outdoor kitchen and room addition for us. This included a custom stone fireplace, custom concrete counter and bar tops with sink and space for a refrigerator, ice maker and grill. Thank you so much for such a great letter! However, the biggest compliment for us is earning your trust as a customer and allowing us to do a second and third job for you and your family. We appreciate the opportunity to be able to be a part of these projects which were really quite creative and complimentary to your home. Although we take a lot of pride in our design experience, your creativity and input on this last project really helped us to 'zero' in on exactly what you and your family were looking for. Summary: Brad Westphall has reinvented a tried and true formula: deliver what you promise with quality workmanship. It?s a simple concept; in grade school they call it the Golden Rule. Treat your customers the way you want to be treated. The project was completed in two and a half weeks. Brad did absolutely everything he said he would: from outstanding quality, a clean job site, project time line to daily punctuality. Although a smaller project for Brad, it was a complex one involving many trades. The entire process was a pleasure. In our 29 years in San Antonio and third home, no contractor has come close to providing the quality and service of Westphall Remodeling. Planning & Estimate: Brad Westphall spent more than two hours at our home on his first trip. He crawled all over the attic planning the project. For example, how to support the wider span after removing two weight-bearing walls. He asked us detailed questions concerning the design and our expectations and then made follow-up calls seeking more information. Brad arranged for visits by the window, electric and stucco sub-contractors to estimate their work. Before even speaking with another company, Brad was our first choice based on his thoughtful and thorough planning. A competing company, also highly recommended on Angie?s List, did a very brief rudimentary inspection (maybe 45 minutes?) of our home and then produced a lower bid. The estimator spent maybe 3 minutes in our attic. We listened to how proud he was of the 25 other projects working that very day. We easily dismissed the bid as poorly prepared and a recipe for disappointment if not disaster. We have been down this road before. One change order after another is not fun nor affordable. The Project: Although Westphall Remodeling uses some sub-contractors, Brad seems to know them well and can count on reliable and quality performance. Work started no later than 8:30 each and every day. Brad and his talented superintendent met daily at our home to discuss the day?s work plan. The superintendent?s extensive construction background allowed him to anticipate problems and provide quality solutions in all trades. Since he was continuously on site, workflow coordination was flawless. He also ensured that the worksite (inside and out) was cleaned up daily, a very pleasant surprise. Some examples: he had the stucco team use plywood planks to protect our grass from wheelbarrows bringing in stucco mix. On the final day, six guys were on their hands and knees picking up stucco chunks from our grass and shrubs. Until the ceiling was dry-walled, it was open to the attic. Each night, a plastic sheet was stapled to seal it off. Plywood sheets were placed under the dumpster to protect the driveway. We quickly learned to trust the superintendent?s recommendations regarding quality and design. Although we were consulted every step of the way, if decisions needed to be made, we really didn?t need to be home. Brad and his team are that good. Final Results: Outstanding. You must be incredibly picky to find where the room?s new walls and ceilings were extended. Brad strongly recommended that we install all new crown molding and baseboards, repaint and retexture the entire room to achieve that ?seamless look? that we desired. The outside stucco work, including window and expansion joints, were a spot on perfect match to the existing walls in texture and color--amazing and talented work. Obviously, we would strongly recommend Westphall Remodeling to our friends.
Description of Work: Extend an existing 2nd floor bedroom onto a balcony in a 5 year-old, custom designed home built with attention to detail. The house is 4000+ sq ft on a 2+ acre lot. The project nearly doubled a 13 ft. wide room from 13 ft. long to 22 ft. long. Demolish the leaking tile outside balcony floor, outside and inside walls-both weight bearing, level the balcony floor to the new room, frame the new room and closet, install a wider overhead beam to support the roof and ceiling, move a window, install insulation, install four new windows, HVAC vent, electric outlets, ethernet, prep and match the outside stucco wall, match baseboard trim and crown molding, build a shelving nook, closet with shelving, drywall, texture and paint entire room. Reinstall all hardware, fixtures and ceiling fan. Husband’s background: retired executive with a Fortune 500 company; wife: retired educator, PhD.

Hi Member, Thank you guys so much for the opportunity to do your project. I've been quite fortunate to have customers like yourselves. It makes the project even more enjoyable. You had very accurate and detailed input from the beginning design phase to the end which really helped me to be able to make sure I was giving you what you wanted and expected.Your familiarity with past construction projects along with your realistic expectations of the entire process also made us more comfortable and even allowed us to meet and exceed our original original project goals. I have to compliment you in your immagination, natural design ability and your input in the project. After my first meeting with Westphall Remodeling I knew they were the right company to remodel my home. They were so knowledgeable and helpful with ideas to make my home perfect. With each step they were there to answer my questions and help with selections and design. From the beginning of the demolition, my construction superintendent was there to make sure the process was done professionally. They made sure all the materials were removed and the areas were clean every night before they left the job. They made sure that the areas that were not being touched stayed as clean as possible. Every one of the subcontractors that Westphall remodelers used were professional and skilled in their trade, and each phase of the job was completed on or ahead of schedule. I would use Westphall Remodeling again if I had any other work that I wanted done.
Description of Work: This was a complete remodel of my home. All the flooring and exterior doors were replaced. The interior and exterior of the house were also painted. The master bathroom was completely remodeled. This consisted of moving a wall to add new cabinets and shelves. Westphall Remodeling built and enlarged the shower. Glass block was used on one wall and the other three were tile with a decorative border two-thirds of the way up the wall. A new sink and granite counter tops were added. They also framed out the mirror over the sink. Westphall Remodeling also constructed a laundry room by connecting two closets. They moved doors and walls to make this room possible. They also installed cabinets over the washer and dryer and added a granite counter with cabinets for folding laundry and storage. In the Kitchen remodel they removed a breakfast bar which created a more open space making the traffic flow into the great room much easier. The kitchen includes a built in cook top, oven and microwave with custom cabinets and granite counters. In the great room they resurfaced the fireplace with dry stack stone and included a niche for the television to be mounted. They also added two more pine beams in the entry of my home which created great flow throughout the house.

would like to thank Angies List very much. I have homes in two States and spend more time in one than the other. I needed a major remodeling done on my San Antonio home and knew no one in the remodeling business in San Antonio. I had seen Angies list Television ads but wasn't sure if Angies List was really any different from other review sites. I took my chances and hire a contractor, Westphall Remodeling to do the job. I was not there the entire time the remodeling job was going on and this made me even more nervous. Everything turned out great in the end. Considering the home is in a community with a strict HOA, my neighbors actually commented on how neat and clean my property was kept during the time the job was going on. The only time you would have known that there was even a remodel going on was when the workers from Westphall remodeling were there coming and going to get the job done. Each day then they left, the place was left clean with no construction materials lying around. Depsite the fact that I was not always there to stand over them, Westphall brought the job in without any surprise expenses and finished sooner than there estimated time. The job was perfect and I could not be happier. I am glad I took the chance on hiring from Angies List and will do so the next time I need any type of work done.
Description of Work: Major remodel of a second home, requiring structural work and other significant prep work before the remodel could being. The work involved a large living room and moving a stair case which effected other rooms in the house.

Member, Thanks for the great review! Your project had some interesting challenges which helped lend itself to the structural and resulting design changes which we had to make. In the end, we were very happy with the unique and final design as well as your input before and during the project. Thanks again.

My wife and I were very happy with the work done by Westphall Remodeling. After our original meeting with their company we decided that we could enclose an open area at the top of the stairs to create the extra bedroom we needed. Our 2 boys have had to share a room and are getting older and needed their own space. Brad and his guys came in and completed the job within a week and a half. They covered everything up and then built the wall to enclose the room and added a matching door. The drywall work and paint matched exactly. It looks like it was part of the original house. Why didn't we think of this before! Thanks again.

We were very pleased with the work completed by Brad/Westphall remodeling. Brad did an outstanding job on our sauna project for us last year so it was a no brainer to contact him again when we decided to remodel our home a second time. This project was very involved and was completed within budget with only very minor modifications from our original plans. The project called for the adding of another floor to our single story garage to add a theater room. All of Brad's subcontractors were clean, left the job site clean and completed their work to the highest level of standards. Neighbors were amazed by the cleanliness of their work. One neighbor even stated that it was cleanest worksite that she's ever seen. Brad's crew perfectly matched his new stonework to our existing stone. It's so perfect, you can't even tell that we we added a room to the front of our house. He was responsible for the design, construction, and finishing of the project. He was very receptive to my ideas and made sure every aspect of the project met my desires. I give him my highest recommendation. If you are considering remodeling or adding a room to your home, you should definitely call Brad at Westphall remodeling. He does a great job at a fair price while maintaining the highest of standards.

We really appreciate your report. Its always great to have a customer return for more work and to know that we were able to earn your trust again as a design/build construction company. After hearing your ideas on your new theatre, we were really excited to be able to contribute to the project. You and your wife had some great ideas that really contributed well to the project and helped make it even more of a success. Awesome project! Glad to be a part of it. Thanks.

We did a complete (and much needed) remodel to our kitchen and connecting areas. Brad (owner of Westphall Remodeling) originally came out to look at our job as well as one other contractor that came highly recommended. Westphall Remodeling followed up with a great design and a very detailed proposal. My husband and I were impressed with their ideas and their over-all knowledge. We were very hesitant to hire another contractor after a few other experiences we have had in the past but felt very comfortable with Brad after our initial meeting. He took time to listen to the ideas we had for the project and added a few ideas we hadn't previously thought of. Our job consisted of a complete demo and replacement of the existing kitchen including cabinets, countertops, flooring, appliances, electrical and drywall and also included changing out and adding a structural support beam. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of time it took to complete the job and couldnt be more satisfied with the way everything came out! His men were very polite and kept the project very clean throughout the course of the job which was very important to us. We will definately be calling them if we do any other projects in the future.

We requested 3 estimates, including Brad's company. The other two were very well publicized companies which you hear about on AM radio ads, etc. One company did not return our requests for an estimate. The other company (keep in mind this is a well-advertised company purporting they do all manner of remodeling and they had recently done roofing work for us) missed their appointment and later showed up with a man in dirty work clothes driving a nondescript pick-up truck (clearly subcontractor). Needless to say that estimate did not go well, especially since I was having to play devil's advocate with his plan and he was agreeing with my critiques! Wow, underwhelming... When Brad came, he was dressed professionally for a tradesman, positive in his attitude, never taking offense at my ideas, and remaining excited but conservative about the possibilities. He asked about what we were interested in and we then explored the area of work, including going outside together and crawling around in the attic crawlspaces to observe from all angles. Once he had asked many questions and given many helpful pointers and ideas, he took photographs. His plan was to give these photographs to a draftsman for a professional plan to be printed showing the outside and inside views of work to be done. Additionally he would be drawing up a very long and detailed concept of work for a contract. We went back and forth on the concept for a while and he was never offended, always taking our ideas into consideration, incorporating them or willing to tell us that we were not on the right path. I am picky by nature and professional training (military physician) and he never seemed offended by this throughout the project. Once we agreed on the project to be completed and the details (much of which was so much better because of his aesthetic input), he asked us for a day to start. One thing you will notice with Brad is that, if he commits to something, it will happen or else he will be genuinely apologetic with good reasons as to why not. Needless to say, he started on time. One thing I will brag on Brad about is that he put in a second level floor, walls (multi-level), ceiling work, new landing, air conditioning/heating, electrical, new windows, painting, new carpet, matching new balusters ALL while our family continued to live (actively) in the home. Everyday the construction workers would come in and lay new floor protective coverings and at the end of the day they would clean everything up so that we lived normally in the home in the evenings. Even during the day, there was very little disturbance of normal life having these many workers in the home (except for the poor dog who had to stay somewhat isolated for the safety of the workers). Brad asked us to trust him and his workers with a key to our home and he did not let us down. Back to the project, we could not believe how fast they worked. Brad has an amazing ability to time the different crews to show up at just the right time. He really orchestrated an amazing sequence of events over the month he was in our home. The only reason there were delays at the end was because the city (San Antonio) made their own mistakes with scheduling final inspections. To Brad's credit, there were some minor issues/mistakes that we identified and, before we could snap, he had the crews back out and repairing these problems. And to be sure I don't imply poor workmanship, I emphasize these were issues that would be expected of any high quality crew; things just happen. When working with Brad, our experience is that he makes it right, as soon as the next working day rolls around. And he is usually frustrated that he didn't notice the issue first, speaking to his professionalism. I would tell anyone considering a remodel of any size to at least consider Brad among your multiple estimates. We will recommend him wholeheartedly and, if we ever need anything done again, we will call him without considering estimates. He is honest, a hard worker, very skilled, and professional.
Description of Work: Brad took our 2 story high living room and turned it into a first floor study and a second floor bedroom, dramatically improving the functionality of our home by allowing us to utilize wasted space.

Westphall Remodeling recently completed a remodel of our master bathroom. We were very pleased with the final product. My wife and I had hired a different contractor to remodel the bathroom a few years ago and were never really satisfied with the work that had been done. After meeting with Brad and taking the time to discuss other alternatives for the room, we decided to move ahead with Westphall Remodeling. The project moved along quickly and we went with several ideas and material choices which Mr. Westphall and his employees had recommended. We went with newly designed granite countertops with the undermount sinks, new tile at the floor and shower areas and a new frameless design glass shower enclosure. The bathroom has been up-dated quite nicely and the new color scheme is much more comfortable. We are fairly familiar with doing remodel work and are very confident in recommending Westphall Remodeling to anyone who may be considering doing a new project.

"Once again, my wife and I would like to give another sincere thanks and recommendation to Westphall Remodeling for the outstanding work they have continued to do on our home. Although we were overly satisfied with the original work Westphall had done for us over a year ago, we thought we had better get a couple of extra bids again just to make sure they were still fairly competitive on their pricing. Again, out of three other bids, their pricing was right in the middle. And, for the quality and organization, you can't beat it! We were very surprised (and pleased) with the amount of time it took to complete the work. Beautiful job! Thanks again."
Description of Work: The original project Westphall Remodeling had done for us was quite a bit smaller. This time, we had them completely remodel the hall bathroom and then extend the dining room area.

Apparently my job was to small for Westphall Remodeling. Brad said it was to save me money, but who knows. The bottom line is that he did not want to take on this job because it was too small. I wish I had known he was only interested in big jobs before I called him.

Sir, although we only talked very briefly on the phone and we had not done any work for you, I'm very sorry you had understood that to be our position by what we had talked about. If you look at all of our reviews you will see that nearly every one of them is perfect. We have an "A" average and also an Angies List Super Service award and strive to keep it that way and take pride in that. As the owner of the company for over 30 years I have built a reputation for honesty, organization and a very very high standard of work. I get many many calls for repairs or single jobs such as tile repair or re-finishing cabinets or fixing or replacing a door or similar projects.. We are not a repair or very small project type of company. We are a company that over time and due to our experience have had to develope a niche to serve the majority of calls we get. We are not a large company and even do jobs such as taking down and relocating interior walls which require demo, framing, electrical, drywall work, trim and paint. I am very specific in my "work description" or exactly what our company specializes in. We are built to be a design/build company that does more projects that require many different aspects of construction. As our work description very clearly details that we do more of the kitchen or bath make-overs or remodeling, room additions, complete renovations and design changes. I have NEVER told any customer that has called our company that the job was too small and I wouldnt make much money on it, ever. First, I ask if they had taken the time to review our companies "work description" profile in order to avoid any misunderstandings. Then, every time, I do my best to refer them to a company or sub-contractor that I know that can better take care of them and specializes in their specific job. Then I encourage them to call me anytime for any other construction related questions wether they are looking to have work done or not. I wish you would have included that in your report. Over 30 years ago I built my business on small "handyman" or repair type of work to get by and over the years we have grown into a company that is one of the few in San Antonio that consistantly designs and or delivers projects that require structural work, medium to average sized projects or complete remodels which is also noted on our company website which is www.westphallremodeling.com. Once again, if you read our testimonials on angies list as well as our testimonials on our companies website you will see that we are a great company! Sorry you misunderstood our intentions and we wish you luck on your project.

Excellent. I read about Brad from Angie's list, and his glowing reports seem completely justified! He quickly came by to perform an estimate, which came out right on the money--in fact the cost of the door itself turned out to be less than he predicted. His team started work on time, cleaned up every day, and were very responsive to any questions/suggestions I had a long the way. Brad checked in frequently on the progress--stopping by at least 4 times. His crews were courteous and on time. While they ran into some unexpected structural problems, the team recommended fixes that they were able to quickly implement without losing any time. I'm certain that if I had been unhappy in any way, Brad would have done whatever it took to make things right--happily, that was not necessary.
Description of Work: Brad's team installed very large (8' x 8') french doors for our study, where previously there was just an open arch.
