Vision Design and Build

Overall a great experience! I recommend Brian and the team. There were issues in Supply chain after COVID, but VDB communicated; and when we raised concerns, adjusted. Id work with them again.

Vision Design and build is one of the least trustworthy business in the city of San Antonio. They added an office addition to my home that was supposed to be judges panels on the interior. They Screwed it up so bad we had to put up our own wood paneling. I paid for a wooden sound proof ( as close as possible ) door. The door they installed was made of particle board, I called it out to the vision project manager Jonathan and he told me it was real wood. I had to show him the inside of the door to alert him to the fact they were trying to rip me off. They also took down my gutters and when adding addition and never put them back. First rain fall we had a flood inside the home. They had to come out and fix that as well, luckily it was not a ton of rain. They missed every date they committed to by months. When confronted about their horrendous workmanship they gave attitude back and were extremely rude. Due to my dissatisfaction with the build they did not send a city inspector out for the final inspection. Two years later the city was bothering them about the inspection not being done. They called to ask if they could send an inspector. I did not reply and vision sent the inspector out with out my permission in the middle of a workday. Absolutely do not give this company your money, you will regret it.

Let me start with the big picture. We got what we wanted at the agreed upon price and we are happy with the results. We had gone down the architect/contractor route and had bids that were double our budget. If Bryan quotes a job at a certain price, you can take it to the bank. Just be sure to review all of the specs and allowances carefully. Design/Build was the ONLY way we could have gotten this done. There are some quality issues, particularly in the painting. They ultimately had to have their GOOD painter come in and redo most of it. It is not perfect but it is close. They were ready to sheetrock in one area and the stud was not even attached to the floor. Badly water stained insulation was going to get reused if we did not pay up for new insulation... yuck. The biggest disappointment was Bryan. Johnny on the spot selling the job, but almost invisible after the project started. Our superintendent quit/retired a month into the job and Bryan never even reached out. I would think something that important would be worth a phone call, but apparently not to him. Ultimately, it was Cathy Bravo who brought the job up from a 2-star experience to a 4-star experience. She was super focused on making us happy and resolving any issues. At the end of the day, we are very pleased but it took time and effort to get there.

The large remodel was completed, to our huge satisfaction, over 8 years ago. Recently, through long usage, some of the custom made wood doors on 2 of our kitchen cabinets needed to be rehung. We called the company for help, fully expecting to pay for the work. The work was very well done and quickly. Bryan Smith, the CEO, called us to say there would be no charge. WOW! What a company!!!

They were not nearly as attention to detail oriented as we wanted them to be. We pointed out obvious flaws and they insisted there was not a problem but somehow when they redid the work it got fixed. I wil say that some of their work was fantastic, like matching the wall and ceiling texture around where the work was done.

Very nice company to do business with. They work quickly and are reliable. Always very courteous when you call into the office and you can always count on them to return your calls. They have done such a great job on our present project that we are contracting them for further remodeling on our home and are referring them to family and friends. Thanks Vision!!
