This project was great from the beginning. Chris met with me and listened to what I wanted. He also guided me in areas where I had the wrong idea or he had a better one, good consulting. His team of employees and subs were always professional. They would talk to us and explain things if we were home. VHS did a great job and I have already referred them to people I know.

Very professional crew. Neighbors stopping to say how wonderful the yard looks now. Eat your heart out Desperate Landscapes! You cannot touch Chris and crew with VHS.

After months of deliberation and getting bids from 5 different landscaping contractors, I settled on VHS primarily because of my comfort level with Chris. His bid was on the higher end of the spectrum when compared to some of the others but when all was said and done, well worth it. Chris was very thorough and professional throughout the entire process. His crew was very detail oriented, taking things like plant placement and drainage into full consideration. Follow up was also excellent. Either Chris or one of his crew would come back after the job was completed to check up on things without me even having to pick up the phone (that doesn’t usually happen in my experience). I’m very pleased with the outcome and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend VHS. Great job!!

On time, called before coming out. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Estimate was written with line by line breakdown plus options in a couple of days. Price was an issue since I already had paid for a wall 3 months ago. We ended up not using them due to cost. They do high end work and as he said, they are not the cheapest. I needed a functional only wall since it was being built 3" from a wood fence and no one would see it, so decorative stone not required. I would have preferred to have reused perfectly good existing blocks and not pay for all new blocks and removal of old. If I could have afforded them, I would use them. His description of necessary building methods were correct and I no doubt think they would have done a superb job.

Project went very well. Owner and crew were very professional and listened to our desires and wants and then worked our vision into a very good final product; a revamped front yard.

Based upon the positive recommendations that I found on Angie's List, I contacted Chris Verme. He came by, looked at the back yard, discussed what could be done, got our tentative approval, and then produced a contract with a plan a few days later. He put us on his schedule, which at that time was about 6 weeks away. However, he maintained contact with us and was right on time with what he had predicted. We were impressed with the professional way the entire job was handled. When they said they would do something, they did it. They kept us on board with everything going on, discussed what could be done in detail, and worked out a proposal that fit our budget. His crew was extraordinary in getting along with each other and doing the work. They made the job competitive with one another, getting it done faster than predicted. I kept wondering where do you find workers like this, who make the work into a competition game with each other? We are very pleased and can see why folks have recommended him as high as they have. Chris & his crew are a harmonious hard working group of professionals. Despite weather delays the work was completed on time. They constantly checked with us to make sure we were satisfied with the work as it progressed.

Chris the owner was very Prompt in estimating. Mulch project was completed very well but the remainder of the project was delayed due to continuous rain. I always felt confident that Chris's team would complete project after the weather improve. He gave constant updates. Everything thing was done in a clean, prompt and professional manner.

Great job. Courteous crew. Very professional. They got right to work, finished in 1 day, and then cleaned up everything. I would definitely use these guys again.

Excellent experience from start to finish! I initially contacted two other top rated landscape companies through ANGIE's List. After waiting about ten days for a response and not receiving one from either company, I started over again with two more top rated companies. VHS was one of them. This time around both companies contacted me quickly and both came out to take a look and provided quotes. One of the companies showed up on time and took a quick look around and sent us a simple quote within a few days. Chris with VHS also showed up on time and returned a timely quote but the real difference is he took his time walking around our yard with my husband and me. He had excellent ideas and suggestions for ways we might improve our curb appeal from the front and our personal enjoyment of the back yard area and he showed a genuine enthusiasm for this job. We had some issues to address with drainage and plumbing and Chris knew exactly what to do. When we received his quote it was comprehensive with all the breakdown of materials, labor, delivery and disposal fees, etc. In my experience, the more comprehensive the quote is, the better the final outcome. We did not chose VHS because it was the lowest quote, we chose them because we felt and instant trust in Chris and we liked the way he presented the quote. The job started on time and was completed in a reasonable amount of time. Chris was very communicative throughout the entire process. He came by almost every day during the project to check in with his crew and , more importantly, with us. He made certain we were completely happy with the job before the job was considered done. We are thoroughly thrilled with our new yard. We have been able to test our French drain because of the recent rains and everything is working perfectly. We also feel confident that if we have any issues down the road Chris will stand behind his work. In the future as we maintain our landscaping and, perhaps, add to it, we'll know exactly who to call. This was a great experience!

I was very disappointed that the cost was so high and felt his explanations for why were insufficient. Chris cited access difficulty for moving material as the primary reason (which would add labor cost), but we have a very large gate and a small Bobcat would have been able to get to the vast majority of the area under concern. We asked for a retaining wall in the area he definitely could not have accessed with a Bobcat, but the rock and labor for that was not even included in the quote, as the number he came up with WITHOUT that was already way over budget. Chris said this would have added at least another $3000. Not only that, but the company we used provided the retaining wall we asked for, and actually didn't use machinery to move material (everything was moved with a wheelbarrow) because his machinery was too large and would have torn up what landscaping we did have- and their cost was only slightly over our budget. This is the main reason I think Chris's explanation for the cost of his quote was insufficient-someone else was able to do almost the exact same thing for LESS THAN HALF the cost. Clearly Chris's labor cost is a lot higher, but the reasons for that were not explained to us. It's possible Chris's work would have been better-but not sure it would have been TWICE as good.

We could not be more pleased with the results or the process. Chris communicated with us on everything and provided us with information to assist us in making decisions. He suggested some modifications the original design which turned out to only enhance the original design. We truly love everything about our new landscape!

Chris was great to work with. He came out to give some suggestions and ideas. I told him what I was looking for and how I wanted to accomplish my landscaping goals in phases. And he was open to everything. After we had our game plan together Chris scheduled his crew and even informed me when he couldn't make it due to weather. Finally the weather was willing to cooperate and Chris sent his crew to till, install soil, rocks, & plant new plants upon my approval. Chris was really easy to work & communicate with. I'm currently discussing our next phase and feel confident working with him.

Chris made time in between jobs to come to our site. We only had one day left in our option period. He told me the day before that he would try to come by in the afternoon latest by four. That morning, he confirmed he was coming. A couple hours later, he called to give me a time. Then he texted me to say he was on his way. He was right on time. At the site, he was very, very knowledgeable about grading issues and also had some great ideas about how to change the landscaping to correct the problem in such a way that was aesthetically pleasing. He promised an estimate by the next day and he came through as promised. His estimate was detailed, easy to understand, and very reasonably priced. It was a pleasure to work with him. I would absolutely recommend VHS Landscaping to anyone. I was completely happy and pleased with his service. You cannot go wrong with them!

The owner, Chris, is an absolute dream to work with. I had an original plan to extend the existing concrete patio slab in the back yard and add some landscaping to make the space more livable. Chris brings fantastic ideas to the table and the project turned out to far exceed my vision and expectations. The expense of the patio material I originally wanted turned out to be much more than I was looking to spend or had budgeted for. Chris was great about finding some other options available while still keeping some of my wish list items in the project. Making the suggested changes also allowed me to add additional work to the project such as adding a new walkway to the front yard and completely removing the existing and dated bed and replacing with a new, gorgeous one in the front yard. I also left the selection of plants and materials up to Chris and am very pleased with the choices and design. There were 2 seperate crews that completed the work, who were always on-time and left the work areas very clean at the end of the day, which I appreciate with having pets. I was mostly impressed with the VHS crew that completed the final landscaping portion of the project, as they were professional, worked very hard and completed all of the work in only 3 days. I have worked with several contractors on home projects over the past 12 months and VHS has been one of the most pleasant and easy to work with. I highly recommend this company and will be calling Chris again on future projects!

Chris came to my house and looked at all of my landscaping needs (Front yard landscaping, add railings to large deck in back yard, clean out and add new plants to 3 large rock beds, and tune up my irrigation system). He spent almost an hour listening and discussing my vision of what I wanted done and if it was cost effective. He was very patient and knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions plus gave me a priority of what he would recommend I do first. He also discussed things I could do to reduce the cost before his crew started work. He was honest and upfront on everything we talked about. A week later he provided me with an email that covered everything we discussed and the breakdown of each of the projects and a complete cost quote. The proposal was right in line with what we had talked about on the first meeting. Unfortunately I was not able to have the work done at this time but am scheduling with his company to have all of the work completed this fall.

Everything was accomplished in a timely manner by very professional workers.

Chris Verne responded promptly to my request for an estimate and when he came out to the house, we were very pleased with his knowledge of plantings and his awareness that though the grass looked rough, he said he could help it and that we wouldn't need to replace it, which was nice to hear and helped save some money. He listened to our ideas and came up with a creative plan and a budget that we could manage. The response time for the plan and estimate only took a few days. His recommendations for plants that would do well in drought conditions and his ideas for how to redo our beds and add trees to the back gave us a lot of confidence that we would have a beautiful yard to enjoy for many years to come. Chris helped take my idea of a water feature and planned it to flow very nicely with our bed and patio in the backyard. The guys who worked on the water feature were very creative and it looks very natural, which I love. As soon as we discussed the estimate and gave our ok--we signed a contract and work began about 14 days later. It would have been sooner, but we were waiting for our fencing to be installed and that kept us from starting right away. Chris was very helpful with this waiting period and he sent his guys out to spray the grassy places needed for the beds so they could begin as soon as the fencing was complete. They also came out and marked the bed shapes and had all of the utility lines marked, as well as the sprinkler and irrigation planned. As soon as the fence was complete, the work began. Chris always kept me informed so I never had to wonder when things were going to happen. The entire project took 2 full weeks, and the crew was great. The crews cleaned as they went, always left the area neat, and any tools or equipment over the weekend ,along with dirt or mulch, were covered and secured. It was a great experience from beginning to end and we definitely recommend VHS. Chris answered all of our questions in a timely way, as well as anyone I asked on his crew. The price is in the medium range I would say--and worth every penny. I will use them for any future landscaping needs we have.

Chris and his team performed excellent work, were fair in pricing and cleaned up daily. They completed the project in a timely fashion and I am certain he will stand behind his work. He is a true professional and he and his crew were pleasant to work with. His landscape architect, Matt Stevens also listened to our wishes and created a beautiful functional plan that will carry us well into the next decade or two.

They could not find the leak but that was not their fault as we need to check the liner but I did not want to do that. They installed new rock and a new pump. They rebuilt the waterfall and they dug up the line to see if that was where the leak was coming from. They did everything that they could for the leak. The price was very reasonable. Two people came and they were always on time. The guys that came were very nice to work with.

So far, we are at the estimate and signing the contract phase. Chris Verme has been out to the house several times with irrigation subcontractors and to look things over. He has been very responsive and has had great ideas which I really like. We hope to get started later this month with the work. HIs pricing is a little higher than others, but I am willing to pay since he has shown a lot of personal interest in the project (much more so than the first two estimates we had) and has really invested a lot of time and thought into what we want done. More later as we get the project started and done.
