 + -1 moreA big "Thank You" to Logan at The Computer Shop who performed the diagnostic on my laptop and with whom I spoke twice regarding its possible repair. He explained that the initial assessment would take a couple of days (which it did) and then he discussed my options which were limited due to the damage to the hard-drive. Logan was very patient with my endless questions and spoke to me about the speed of my home internet connection, new solid-state drive computers, and increased processor speed. Ultimately, I chose to have my laptop donated/recycled which The Computer Shop handled for free.
Description of Work: Provided a free assessment on whether laptop, which had received blunt-force trauma to the key-board, could be repaired. Diagnostic indicated hard-drive permanently damaged and unable to retrieve data without extra-ordinary (costly) effort.

 + -1 moreMy son and I took his laptop to the computer shop on Friday. The computer screen was not coming on. Will said that the diagnose would be free and would call us back asap when the diagnose was completed. He called the next day to let us know that a wire had come loose and by working it the computer worked again. No Charge. Awesome and honest.. that's great service...

 + -1 moreThe technician did an excellent job; he restored my computer so that the problem no longer existed, and programs such as Microsoft Office and other programs I had installed were still on the PC and operating as they should.
Description of Work: My PC would go into the sleep mode and not come out. I had to reboot in order to gain access to the PC. I had called tech support in India several times, and each time was told to "restore the computer". I did that, while losing all software programs that I had installed while trying to repair the PC myself. The same issues persisted despite the restorations. I had earlier purchased a coupon from livingsocial for The Computer Shop that was good for a diagnostic and one hour of general computer repair. This was an ideal time to use it. I took the PC in on a Friday and got it back the following Tuesday. The technician tested the hard drive, removed all registry cleaners and system optimizers, corrected issues with the system files, and test-booted the computer multiple times to insure that the problem had been resolved. It now operates as it should.

 + -1 moreI called them on Thursday, 9 Sep 2010 and made an appointment for Monday, 13 Sep 2010 at 5PM. 5PM came and went on Monday, 13 Sep 2010, but no one showed up. I call them at 530PM and they had no record of my appointment, but they sent someone over at 6PM, but the tech showed without any tools to do the job. I rescheduled to have him come back at 5PM on Tuesday, 14 Sep 2010, but 5PM came and went. At 615PM the tech calls and said a good customer of theirs, computer crashed and offered to come over now. Why couldn't the tech call me at 5PM at tell me he is tied up with a current customer and ask if I wanted to reschedule or offer to call me back when he was done and see if I want to have him come over at that time. Overall, extremely bad customer service.

 + -1 moreTook the computer in for repair on a Monday and it was ready by Wednesday for pick up. John Vaught was very informative and explained what he did to get the computer up and running again. If I need computer repair in the future I will call John Vaught to do the job. His price was reasonable too.
Description of Work: Repaired Dell laptop computer and ran all diagnostic services on computer.
