About us
Independently owned contractor specializing in bathroom & kitchen remodeling. We are trained to handle any phase of construction but specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Even if you just need some advice please feel free to call any time.
Actually I never did receive a response from you via text or verbally. So you must have me confused with another customer again. I asked for my countertops to be cut and installed with a sink as well. So that estimate is obviously not for me.
Description of Work: Cancelled first appointment due to some of his customers not being happy with the work or something of the sort. The morning of the next scheduled appointment he wanted to move it or have me send him pics for an estimate. I sent pics and never did receive my estimate. Sounded like a very nice man but obviously not good at communicating.

Response from The Carpenter's Hand
This potential customer was correct in saying I had to reschedule because of problems on job. To be quite honest, I was. The customer she is referring to,I would not be surprised if I don't get a good review. Not because of quality if work but because it seemed like anything that could go wrong, would go wrong. Wrong tub was sent, wrong valve, wrong tile. Seemed like job was cursed. I am sure we will be back to normal but this job had to be the priority. As for the follow up appt. She lives approx. 40 minutes away and asked if I could give her estimate over phone. She sent me pictures and I gave her a verbal response, as it was only about $250. I explained that for a job that small I could not travel 40 minutes in one direction

..Jeff and his crew are amazing. My husband and I have had construction done in the past, but this experience with Jeff' and his excellent crew was a breath of fresh air. They helped us refine our ideas and wishes. They came on time, explained what they were doing, showed us samples and pointed out options. Once we made a decision, they proceeded in an efficient and professional manner. What more could you ask for? Jeff was always easy to contact, open and honest and just plain easy to work with. Ricardo is a master painter, easy to talk to and a real perfectionist. Lynn put down the new wood floor, another perfectionist. Really they all were. Our dreary, dark, out of date kitchen is now bright and beautiful! We could not be more pleased.
Description of Work: Refinished kitchen and butler's pantry cabinets, including soft close hinges. Installed new granite counter tops and granite window ledge. Installed new backsplash. Installed new double sink, faucet and garbage disposer. Installed new flat top stove in island. Put in new wood flooring in front entry.

Jeff and his team did a great job! We did have a little bit of a rough start, but Jeff jumped in and re-directed and re-did all things that were not up to his expectations. His brother provided all of the tiling work and did a fabulous job! The cabinet's were re-done and painted at Jeff's cabinet shop, and look great. Overall, it went smoothly, and when there were questions or something unexpected came up (something always does), Jeff always checked in with us to ensure we got what we wanted.
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom updated - including new tile (shower and floor), granite countertops, painted cabinets, and new fixtures/lights/mirrors.

The cabinets are beautifully crafted. Granite was just what I wanted and all of the work was done in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew built and installed kitchen cabinets and granite. Did the electrical work for the dishwasher, garbage disposal and over the sink lighting and installed the faucet, dishwasher and garbage disposal.
SUMMARY The finished product looks and functions fantastic! My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen and bathrooms. The work quality is excellent, the contractor's workers are professionals that know what they're doing and the price is very reasonable. BUT, this is a lot of work that will require your patience, flexibility, good nature and availability for questions. WHAT WENT WELL These guys know what they're doing: Ricardo aka 'The paint guy' is good. He comes in, verifies what he's supposed to do with you, does the work, cleans up and leaves. No fuss, no muss. AND he's a really nice, friendly guy The cabinet guys know their stuff - Keith comes in and measures for the new cabinets, drawers and doors, leaves and then comes back with new built cabinets, doors and drawers ready to install I could go on and on but the point is that these guys know their stuff and the more senior team members know A LOT of stuff about houses and construction WHAT WILL HAPPEN With so much activity going on and people to coordinate, it's inevitable that there are occasional miscommunications or work glitches. They will happen but if you're available to help resolve, they'll get fixed so things can get back on track. WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE THINGS GO SMOOTHLY Know what you want and do your homework! We spent a LOT of time before work started picking out tile, countertops, grout colors, paint colors and hardware. Try to think thru as many details as you can because they WILL come up and require an answer in order for progress to continue. For instance, we had to purchase a tub and found out there was a right-hand vs. a left-hand version - who knew? We didn't but we needed to make sure we got the right one or it would have caused delays. Make sure to ask Jeff whatever you need prior to starting and then document. Everything was documented and given to the contractors for reference. Even then, they had questions and it was essential to be available to explain what was meant. What made sense to me in my head wasn't so clear when you looked at it on paper. Have patience! ANY project of this size will take several weeks to complete (this one took 6 weeks from start to finish) and will require your patience. Your home will be disrupted and you will find dust in EVERY corner of your house regardless of the amount of taping and care in closing off construction areas. It WILL happen so be prepared to spend a LOT of time dusting, mopping and vacuuming. Communicate, communicate, communicate I am very fortunate because I work from home and was 'onsite' everyday for this project. It turned out to be very helpful because I was available for questions and to keep an eye on progress. This allowed me to speak to Jeff on a daily basis and give him a 'progress report' so he could plan the next day's activities or change things around if an issue needed to be addressed. I believe this helped to keep the project on track and get it finished in the 6 weeks instead of a much longer timeframe. Keep changes to a minimum This one is obvious and will kill your schedule and budget if you don't follow it. Since I was onsite, I was able to find out very quickly how disruptive my 'new idea' was going to be to the construction progress. And just as quickly able to tell the guys to forget it and keep to the original plan.
Description of Work: Converted tub-style master bath to a standup master shower with a glass wall Replaced master bath vanity and double sink with custom vanity cabinet and granite countertop Remodeled guest bath with new tub and tile and installed new custom vanity cabinet with granite countertop Replaced kitchen countertops with new granite countertop and double, deep-well sink Refaced kitchen cabinets with new cabinet doors and drawers that include soft-close hinge hardware Installed new knobs for all cabinet doors and drawers Installed new kitchen tile backsplash Painted master bedroom including ceiling Work included all demolition to remove existing wall paneling and bathroom tubs and vanities, refitting plumbing to accommodate tub to shower conversion, finish work such as painting and wall patching
Jeff Bryson, the owner of The Carpenter's Hand, is very good at his craft. He is very easy to get along with and is a very honest man. When we first met him, we knew he was the person for the job. We wanted to completely redo our kitchen, but are also in our mid 20's and had a very tight budget. When Jeff came over, he immediately related to our situation and made sure he kept within our budget. We asked Jeff to hand make brand new cabinets, install granite countertops, a new sink, backsplash, vent hood, and a brand new bar. The crew that came out to our house we absolutely fantastic. Keith, the cabinet maker, has extraordinary talent. He came by multiple times to make sure his measurements were correct, which really put us at ease. Jeff, the electrician, was also extremely nice and made sure to do everything we wanted to perfection. The turnout of the kitchen with exactly what we wanted. We cannot be more satisfied with our kitchen, and when the time comes, we will be calling to have them come back and redo our bathroom. We fully recommend this company!
Description of Work: Full kitchen renovation and living room bar
Jeff is a consummate professional and very eager to please. His price wasn't the lowest but I feel the quality was exceptional. The start date slipped but Jeff warned me this could happen. Evidently he is popular and stays very busy. Jeff's labor, both skilled and unskilled were punctual and very attuned to quality. A few times I was not altogether pleased with the product, mostly minor stuff and they were always happy to please. We didn't have too many change orders and Jeff was very fair with the cost. I think he could have done a better job of tracking them. We talked about it and he agreed. Jeff's cabinet builders are amazing. Great communication and delivered spot on. I recommend Jeff and my advice is to be organized with the scope (take notes and get agreement in writing). Projects can take time and it is easy to forget if it is not written down. I think you will be very pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: Major remodel of master bedroom and bathroom. Cabinetry, vanity, granite, shower, travertine, recessed lighting, carpet, repairs, trim, paint, electrical, plumbing, and a ton of details.
We had a great experience with The Carpenter's Hand and Jeff, the contractor. They converted our decrepit dark living spaces into beautiful, functional areas where we can welcome family and friends. Everything came out better than we envisioned. In areas where we were clueless, they helped with their experience and expertise. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. We got custom built wood cabinets with soft close hinges on all the drawers and doors. Beautiful work on the granite and backsplash. They removed the dark paneling in the family room and put up sheetrock and texture. In the bathroom they fixed old termite damage we didn't know existed and fixed problems with our old uneven walls. Again, beautiful custom wood vanity with soft close hinges, beautiful work on the granite and a beautiful rectangular sink. The tile on the walls, tub surround and floors looks fantastic. The workers were all wonderful. Each has master skills in several areas and were gracious in explaining what they were doing and ensuring that we were satisfied. For example, Ricardo did an unbelievable job fixing cracks on the ceiling and holes where some lights were removed. He's a master at texture and painting as well. Lynn, a master at carpentry and everything else, was here there and everywhere installing new doors throughout, fixing walls, replacing baseboards, installing appliances, etc. All the workers were wonderful, nice and hardworking. Jeff has a full complement of experienced workers to complete any job. At the end, Jeff made sure that everything had been done to our satisfaction. We did a walkthrough and last minute details were fixed. Jeff and workers are good people.

Jeff was pleasant and easy to work with. He was always available to answer our questions and return phone calls promptly. We trusted him to listen to our needs and our design preferences. After discussing what we needed and we gave our vision of the completed project he gave us a few ideas that we hadn't even thought of and they weren't even ideas that would cost more. He actually saved us money by suggesting the different ideas. His team of guys were friendly and kept the area clean and orderly at the end of each day. They showed up when they said, called when they said and worked with our schedule. Our bathroom looks like a million bucks now. It's beautiful and glad we listened to Jeff's suggestions. We highly suggest using Jeff if you want a job done right and you want to work with someone that is wanting to make you happy. Thank you Jeff for going out of your way to make us longtime customers. God Bless You
Description of Work: Redesigned our guest bathroom
We are more than satisfied with the work accomplished. The cabinetry work was most exemplary. Those who worked that part of the job were the most available, communicative and true craftsmen. They should be commended. Other crew members were diligent, accomplished and pleasant to be around. Although some small jobs had to be redone to satisfy all of us, they didn't complain about the extra work.
Description of Work: The Carpenter's Hand did a significant remodeling of the master bathroom. This included retiling the entire floor; retiling the existing separate shower and Jacuzzi areas. They installed a new glass front door and half side wall on the shower. Twin vanity counters were updated with new cabinetry, granite tops, storage towers, and new mirrors. The toilet enclosure was upgraded with new cabinetry. Of course all this work was preceded by the removal of the old floor and wall ceramic tile as well as the old cabinetry.
Met with 4 contractors to review master bath remodel project. We needed to enlarge existing walled shower, replace out-of date sunken tub, upgrade cabinetry and get design advice for long wall with master closet door between two vanities. The Carpenter's Hand and one other bidder spent time looking over the project and made good suggestions using a framed mirror design with cabinet towers to minimize the closet door problem. I met with Jeff Bryson, the owner, instead of a project manager. No questions were out of bounds. The Carpenter's Hand got our approval for the job, showing extensive experience with custom shower designs, bid the job with materials at contractor pricing and set allowances for major job components. The Carpenter's Hand also owns a cabinet shop, which helped on pricing, design work and job priority. We had two other bathrooms that were out-of-date and decided to upgrade them at the same time. We replaced a tub with floor-to-ceiling tiled walk-in shower in one of the baths. The baths were done successively, so we could use at least one bath at all times. We picked out our own tile, granite, plumbing and lighting fixtures at the showrooms suggested, with help from both a designer and showroom staff. This allowed us to control the finish quality and upgrade when we chose to do so. We selected a sample cabinetry design from online pictures, that the cabinet shop duplicated nicely. The master bath was gutted first, down to the concrete floor, drywall and studs (where new plumbing and wiring was needed). The crew set-up plastic barriers and floor protection to minimize dust through the house. The crew was respectful and came ready to work h****** scheduled days. They used a lock-box to access our home when we were away at work. When there was an unexpected delay, the crew would notify us. My wife said she felt comfortable with all of the workers on the crew, even when home alone. Our final price was 7% over budget, due to upgrades and repairs needed. All price adjustments were agreed to before proceeding with the work and final payment wasn't made until everything was done. During construction, The Carpenter's Hand found some underground plumbing upgrades that were required and corrected them. They found and replaced damaged sub-floor from previous construction flaws and water leaks. Their tile crew did a nice job with design layout, installation and grouting. Their electrician did an excellent job adding lighting to walls and ceiling that was needed and their drywall finisher made the drywall cuts disappear. The Carpenter's Hand crew was very responsive to come back and correct any flaws we noticed in the finish work. Everything on our punch list was fixed. The finished project is beautiful! The project took a couple of months longer than planned, due to a couple of our absences and unfortunate death of the owner's wife during the project. We respect Jeff for the priority he showed his wife during her final days. I consider Jeff my friend and recommend The Carpenter's Hand for bath remodeling.

We had a shower done with Conde Construction also goes as Sergio Conde, the shower started leaking to the first floor. Conde had not put a line or the necessary tools. We called The Carpenters Hand and in a week we had the shower in working order. The quality of the work is fantastic, this time I took care to supervise the work and noticed the difference of having someone who knows do the work. The Carpenters Hand quality craftsmanship.
Description of Work: The carpenters hand, ripped out the old shower and reinstalled it with improvements. They re do the plumbing, improved the tiling and ensured the products were working adequately. Great craftsmanship. The house was clean. We did not notice they were there for a week.

I had a fairly good experience with them. I found them through Angie's List. I chose them for the pricing and for the contractor. The gentleman was very knowledgeable. He was very fair. He knew his business and I felt that he wasn't out to gouge me. Plus, I was allowed to go with him to pick out all my materials. He gave me options that would work best with the construction work we were doing. In other words, I didn't spend money when I didn't need it. He also was able to explain building codes and stuff within the state of Texas. He was knowledgeable about that. He was just very above board. The work was great. His crew was very courteous. I felt very comfortable leaving my house key. It was a good experience all the way around. What started it is, I had a leak in the bathroom and ended up with toxic mold in the whole wall linked to my bedroom. I had several contractors come out and all they wanted to do is just patch work. But he took it away and didn't charge me for the extra work just so that I would be healthy. I have extreme asthma and so he ripped out that whole wall and was not going to charge me if he didn't find anything. But, he found that the whole wall was the reason why I was coughing. It had been leaking under the sink there for about 8 months. I didn't even know it. It took them longer, because he had to order some tile in and was waiting for it to come in from Florida. It took them about 12 days longer than was anticipated. But it was done during the winter time. It was cold in the house. It was wet. There was only so much you could do, putting down paint and tile and waiting for it to dry. In my eyes, it was fair. So he was very fair and very honest. I need to upgrade my kitchen and I will probably contact them again.
Description of Work: I used them last winter. It was for a complete bath remodel.

Jeff was very easy to work with, he is enthusiastic and honest. He did the bid the first time and worked with us during the whole project. He coached us through the whole process and provided advice without being intrusive. His crew was in our house for three months and we were never home, so they were by themselves, we never lost a thing and they took care of all our stuff.
Description of Work: Build a new master bathroom and bedroom, remodeled two additions bathrooms, did a new kitchen island and removed wallpaper and painted house.
Jeff gave me a bid the first day I called him. He was enthusiastic and obviously had a lot of experience and knowledge. Plus his bid was about $5000 less than the next lowest. He was able to send the demo crew within 10 days and they got to work. He has his own guys do almost all the work- demo, framing, plumbing, tile, electrical, etc. He subcontracted a few things- the window installation, stucco repair and outside painting and his subs all did a good job. We had a bathroom designer draw up a design before we started, but we heavily modified it during construction, with advice from Jeff and his workers, and all the changes were an improvement over the original design. Jeff never charged us for changes unless it created more work and material cost for him. During construction I was heavily involved in making decisions, such as placement of vents, lighting, shower fixtures, tile layout, etc, and his workers were always agreeable and helpful. Jeff would frequently come by- he has a very critical and discriminating eye, and if something wasn't right he had them tear it out and make it right. It would be disingenuous of me to say that everything went without a hitch, but Jeff and his workers did everything they could to satisfy me and the end result was an amazingly beautiful bathroom with unique innovations. For instance, we have a walk-in shower with a pebble floor and the drain was level with the foundation. Jeff realized that in order for the pebble to drain properly he would have to create a steeper grade to the drain, and without extra cost to me he chipped out the foundation to create the proper grade. Also after the cabinets were installed my wife said she wanted a lighted vanity mirror mounted on the cabinet. The electrician was able to do it easily and Jeff didn't charge me anything. The cabinets he had made are beautiful and unique- a teakwood veneer with a flat european face. We simply showed Jeff a magazine picture of what we wanted and he made it happen. One of the best things about working with Jeff is he let me just buy materials as cheaply as I could find them and he would install them. So I bought hardware and plumbing and electrical fixtures on the internet, including the bathtub, glass tile at Lowes, porcelain tile at a local store, etc. I think I saved thousands of dollars compared to the local plumbing and electrical suppliers. I also had strong opinions about things like the brand of grout, thin set mortar, caulk and some other things and he used those materials. The bathroom looks even better than we had envisioned it, and after 2 months of use we haven't found anything that we wish was different or needs repair. Overall we're completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Gutted our master bath: tore out shower, jacuzzi, cabinets, sheet rock, tile floor. Installed new tile walk-in shower, free-standing tub, large Pella window, new tile floor to ceiling, new cabinets, new lighting, new plumbing. Basically went to studs and created a new bathroom.

Overall the job went well- Jeff has some great guys working for him! They were punctual for arrival times, worked hard while on-site and were extremely knowledgeable. As is typical on most jobs, the scope of the work grew by home owner request- Jeff and crew were not phased, they responded quickly to keep work on track. I work in facility maintenance in the pharmaceutical industry and as a part of my job oversee construction projects, The Carpenter's Hand is a company that delivers top notch service and understands how to complete projects on time and on budget.

Had a water leak around the fireplace and Village Contractors the company that was supposed to have fixed it when they replaced the roof would not return calls to fix it so called Jeff Bryson who had done an excellent job remodeling my master bath. He immediately sent Ricardo and Lynn who did a fantastic job repairing the damage in two days. He stands behind his work and his price is very reasonable. Any time I need any work done in the future will have The Carpenters Hand because Jeff and his crew are trustworthy and take pride in their work.
Description of Work: Replaced dry wall, treated for mold, painted and replaced damaged board and trim and base boards around fireplace, and replaced flooring damaged by water leak around chimney.
I am very particular and not easily impressed. And i am sure i wasnt the easiest client to work with. I made several changes during the course of the project and asked alot of questions.Jeff and his crew went above and beyond to make sure I was completely satisfied with the end product. The quality of the work from every aspect of the renovation was top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Carpenter's Hand.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation...custom cherry cabinets, granite countertops, install range hood, travertine floor & backsplash, new walls, electrical outlets & plumbing.
The end result is fantastic! As far as the process went it took quite a bit longer than we were told it would but we attribute that largely to the owner's family crisis. The crew was very professional. They were good about keeping the work area neat and cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. They sought our input on every aspect of the job. Jeff Bryson, the owner, was very fair about pricing for the few upgrades we decided to add.
Description of Work: The Carpenter's Hand crew completely gutted and renovated our small master bathroom. The job included removing the shower, tile floor, some drywall and the "popcorn " ceiling. They built custom cabinets, a custom shower with frameless glass doors, new sink, fixtures, vent, lighting and granite countertop.
Since I had heard all the horror stories of contractors that either botched or didn't finish a job, when I decided to remodel my dated master bath I decided to get bids from three companies that received excellent reviews on Angie's List and felt comfortable Jeff was trustworthy. His crew of Colin, Linn, Ricardo, Luis, Jose, Jeff and Jeffrey were courteous and friendly and took pride in their work . I enjoyed talking to them and they had a lot of good ideas that I never would have thought of that were incorporated in the project. Keith and Paul from the cabinet shop did an excellent job on the cabinet and tower. Colin was the primary on the job and made sure I was kept up to date every day which I really appreciated. Jeff made sure I was happy with the work and returned my calls right away and was always amenable to any changes. While there were a few glitches just as there is in any project, Jeff and his crew took care of them. I would strongly recommend The Carpenters Hand.
Description of Work: Gutted bathroom except for garden tub. Enlarged shower, replaced tile around tub, shower and floor. Custom built vanity cabinet and tower. New light fixtures, ceiling fan, tub, shower and sink faucets. Granite counter, ledge and window siill.

Had two workers here most of the time who were meticulous with great attention to detail. Really great to have these guys to start and finish when it was initially promised. Jeff seemed really backed up with some larger projects than mine, but said he could fit me in between jobs which worked out to be the following week, pretty amazing! These guys do good work and would definitely use them again.

They completed the task in 8 weeks. Communication and knowing when they would be there was a concern. My wife has asthma, they were supposed to take the debris out the bathroom window, ended up taking it out the hallway and dust was spread thoughout our bed room. Tile work was done well, as was the plumbing. Installing the sinks, they butchered the vanity, spread dust all over the bedroom with a malfunctioning vacuum cleaner, but they came back and patched the vanity. Overall, we are satisfied with the end product.

After months of trying to find a contractor to take a small bath remodel, we signed up for Angie's List and called Jeff. So disappointed with Jeff. Probably a victim of his own success, HOWEVER, "busy" does not make a good contractor. My wife and I had Jeff over to look at the job and 1-page plan. Jeff seemed genuine in interest and expertise (I'm an Architect). He said he was busy and could not start for 8-10 weeks. OK...he seemed a great contractor so we elected to wait. Took him 3 weeks of me bothering him to just get a verbal quote. Again, I told him "yes, we'd love to have you do the job". All i requested was a written quote so I could sign it and get the commitment from him...... And that was the last of him. Contacted him by phone a few times, and each time he promised within a day or 2 to send something in writing. After 6 weeks or more of waiting, Jeff was not returning voice mails. This is the HEIGHT of un-professionalism. If you can't or won't do the job ...get a spine and say so! I would be just fine with upfront, honest communication. I can only surmise that Jeff had bigger jobs to do. I waited and waited before posting this review. It's distasteful to have to post a bad review. Jeff, you should know your reputation is far more valuable than the money on bigger jobs.

I hope that anyone reading this will understand that I told [member name removed] that I would not be able to do anything for him for 8-10 weeks. I told him that I would do his contract as we got closer to the job. As for the verbal number I gave this to him the next day after we met. I think his time line is off. If I have customers that I am already working on their house they take priorty to me. I will say that having so much business has hurt my ability to attend to potential customers. However, I stand behind my decision to take care of my existing customers first. If I am doing work in your home I thing you will agree. It is a shame that this customer did not understand that when I said 8-10 weeks that was a realistic time frame.
